My son and I had a very nice dinner here. We started by sharing the very tasty Aloo Tikki ChatI and some crispy Papadum with chutneys as appys, which disappeared fast! I had the Tandoori Lamb which was excellent (large portion so I will get a second meal), and my son had the Lamb Roghan Josh which was also very good. The garlic naan and butter naan were nice with our meal too. We did not try desserts but maybe next time. Service was very quick and friendly with frequent water refills. Ambiance was okay - nothing special - but our seats were comfortable. Parking was an issue since Maria Empanadas and other local restaurants were busy, but we found a spot within a block. We went for lunch recently and had an exceptional meal. They start you with yummy papadum with green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney, which I really like. We ordered the rajma & aloo masala and the chicken madras, and both dishes were delicious and excellent examples of the cuisine. The menu here is vast, but much of it is organized by sauces, and they're all very well described. We skipped the adult beverages, as it was early in the day, but they have a full bar, and their specialty cocktail menu was a tempting read. Almost everyone I've ever seen talk about Indian food in my area raves about this location. I ate there about a year ago and was super excited to try it because of all the rave reviews. I don't know if they just had an off night that night, but pretty much all of my food was a major disappointment. We ordered two dishes and naan. Both dishes just weren't very flavorful, and I was majorly bummed with the quality of the food. I past this Indian restaurant frequently in my ongoing long distance walks (I average 15K to 20K steps) in central Denver. This time I stopped for lunch. I was the only dine-in customer. This location is very colorful and has a full bar. They have cocktails, beer and wine. Typical big menu for Indian restaurants. I started with my favorite yogurt drink, a Mango Lassi. Large glass for $4.79; I was served by Ashok. He was attentive. I got the Mushroom Manchurian appetizer. I requested Indian hot spice levels and it was. Next was the Chicken Shahenshah, a dish with tender chicken cooked in a sauce of coconut and fennel. I asked for this entree to be served Indian hot. Very good. It was served with a large bowl of yellow basmati rice. I ate 1/2 and the rest home. They offer another favorite dessert, Gujar Halwa. This is a sweetened finely chopped hot carrot pudding. Yummy. This was a to-go order, so I can't speak to the ambiance of the restaurant or the table service, but I can speak to the food! Vegetarians/vegans would be pleased to know that there are a plethora of options, as is often the case at Indian restaurants. Meat eaters, too, have plenty of options. The menu seemed more varied than menus at most South Asian restaurants. That's a plus! I had the tofu saag with an order of naan. The tofu saag was delicious. It was my first time eating this dish, and it was great. The ratio of tofu to the creamy spinach was perfect--they didn't skimp out on the tofu at all like I expected. The tofu's consistency was perfect. The saag itself was not spicy. I was expecting to run out of naan before finishing the saag, but I was pleasantly surprised that the portion size of the naan was big enough so that I could use it to eat all the saag! (I used the naan to scoop up the saag as if I were using injera to eat Ethiopian food.) It was delicious and fresh. Everything came hot and ready to eat. I had leftovers of my meal for the next day, and both the saag and naan did well after being heated up in the microwave. After finishing, I washed the saag container so that I can reuse it. The owners of this place are incredibly generous, serving large dishes that can feed multiple people. We planned to order main dishes, but we soon found we couldn't even finish our 4 appetizers. The service was quick and friendly: we received our food within 5 minutes after our order. The menu is incredibly diverse and has many different options. The food itself, however, lacks in some of the flavors you would expect in this type of cuisine. I do think this place is a good business, but for us, the food just fell a little short. Paneer Pakora was delicious with the chutneys that accompanied the papadums. Spicy fried cheese and crackers, yum! Salty Lassi was simple and refreshing. Ambiance was funky and cool. Music was good and not too loud, though at one point someone turned on the game along with the music, which was distracting. Pick one! Chicken Biryani was ok, and in very large portions. Nothing wrong with it except that it wasn't excellent. I have eaten a lot of Biryanis and this one I wouldn't order again, even though I got multiple meals out of it. But I'd go back to try some more entrees. Service was fine though undistinguished. No complaints. Overall liked the place but was not impressed with the biryani. read more

The food here is really excellent and the drink prices can't be beaten! Check out my drink menu photos to see the prices I'm referring to. The food menu is huge, so come with some patience and some time to read through the creative variety of foods! This is an experience after all, right?! I tried the mushroom manchurian appetizer and it reminded me of chicken wings without the chicken! The breading and sauces had all the flavors you'd expect in an app like wings. It's also topped with sesame seeds, FYI, for anyone with nut allergies. Also had the vegetable coconut soup, which was called vegetarian but above it the heading says "our favorite vegan soup" so I guess it's vegan! You'd never know it and if you're a meat eater, many of us are omnivores, but don't think twice about getting this soup and worry that you'll miss the meat. There is such flavor and spice in this soup! If you are sensitive to medium spice or spicier, definitely really talk with your server about what you order to make sure it's something that has heat or is available in completely mild. I would say overall here, they lean more towards medium-level spicy. Ethnic restaurants such as Tikka and Grill get underrepresented in the vegetarian and vegan lists, so let's start getting more of these included. The trendy (usually pricier spots) get pointed out and but we need these relevant, affordable, and knowledgeable neighborhood ethnic restaurants showcased more! Emphasis on "affordable" because no one needs to pay $24+ for a "cauliflower steak" which is one slice of a cauliflower head that costs about 3 bucks retail markup in the grocery store. Many people in India don't eat meat, so this culture is well-adjusted to offering non-meat options. And they do it right, with a massive ton of flavor! I'm sure it helps they've been preparing this type of food for years before it became trendy in the US! And don't worry about your meat-loving friends! Several dishes have meat options, many are chicken but you'll also find some seafood like shrimp or fish. Though beef isn't big in India as it is in the states, lamb is another option on the menu at Tikka and Grill. Tried this place for the first time a month ago and couldn't stop thinking about it so came back today. It was as delicious as I remember it and I'm already excited to go back again. I highly recommend trying the Momo's as a starter, you will not be disappointed. The curries were great as well. One tip: I generally like a little spice, so we ordered medium heat. First off, this place has excellent parking considering it's located right off of South Broadway. We walked in and were instantly greeted by the hosts in this lovely restaurant. The menu is extensive and I loved the variety of dishes on there, some of which I'd never heard of despite trying many Indian restaurants around Denver. I like to stick with chicken tikka masala when trying a new Indian restaurant and I was not disappointed. What seemed like seconds after we ordered, our food arrived at our table and this was the most vibrant chicken tikka masala I'd ever seen. I ordered mine mild because I don't do well with spicy food but my friend tried out the medium spice and she said it was perfect for her taste. The flavors were immaculate and the chicken was cooked to perfection. No stomach aches here. I also appreciated the serving portion size and the fact that I had a good amount of leftovers for the next day. The garlic cheese naan was more cheesy and missing some of that classic garlic flavor. And the vegan masala chai was a little too sweet for my taste but the chai flavor was decent. Recently ordered $260 of food here for wife and friends. They tried to stack it all in one bag that weighed over 50 pounds so no surprise that containers were broken or spilled inside. They made it right, but it cost me 30 minutes round-trip of driving and another 15 minutes waiting to get what I had previously paid for. It was also missing an order! All the girls complained that each order although costing $18 each only had about three pieces of meat in them. They love this place so I'm sure they'll go back but quality/value has gone down in value! read more

This review is based on my experience via takeout (Uber Eats or DoorDash) only. Indian food is some of my favorite comfort food and I was excited to try this place since it came highly recommended. I've now lost count of how many times I've ordered from here and I have yet to be disappointed. The restaurant has always been prompt to pick up the order and get it fulfilled. Food has always arrived well-packed and hot, but that's also a benefit of living close by. I did see the other comments about the food being very salty, and I have picked up on that at times, but it has deterred me. I've rotated through all my regular dishes I've gotten from other restaurants and I have very much enjoyed Tikka and Grill's take on almost all of them. I have yet to dine in so cannot speak to the restaurant itself; I've only passed by it driving down Broadway. Hard to convince myself to go when the delivery process has always been a breeze through the third party services. Always open to trying new Indian spots but my experience ordering from here has been positive thus far. read more

I frequent the area and regularly get enticed by the Tikka and Grill aroma in the air wafting through the neighborhood. Great food, huge portions. Sometimes I "forget" how big the portions are and I order too much food. That's on me. Employees are always friendly. I've never eaten inside, I've always taken the food to go. Seems like a nice atmosphere inside. The one downside of ordering takeout is they have multiple services to order through. Each service offers different options. One takeout service asks if you want napkins and utensils, as well as gives you more options to add or omit on the order. One service charges you for additions and the other doesn't charge you when you order. Remember to ask for utensils and napkins if you take out or you might find yourself eating with your hands and wiping your mouth with your sleeve. Overall great experience and I'll continue supporting this business. read more

I've ordered from Tikka and Grill twice (delivery). I was encouraged by the positive reviews, and loved the passionate curry descriptions, as well as the unique items, so I decided to deviate from my usual place. The first time I ordered Chicken Makhani (mild); Saag Channa (mild); Rajma & Aloo Masala (hot); Shahi Paneer (medium), and naan and veggie samosas. I have to say this experience wasn't super. The samosas were pretty soggy from transport. The paneer is thin cut triangles, which isn't my favorite. The saag was good, but not very spinachy. The biggest issue though was the spice factor. I like heat, but this was overwhelming. The medium dishes were hot and the hot was inedibly spicy. (It actually made me dizzy, which I didn't realize was even a thing. Ha). I ended up adding half a can of kidney beans, a full potato and two tomatoes to the Rajma & Aloo to salvage it for leftovers. That said, the flavors were promising and I thought I would give things another try in case this was an outlier experience. The second time I ordered I selected Chicken Rogan Josh (medium); Chicken Shahenshah (medium); Korma Veggies (mild); and Baingan Bharta (mild), along with some roti. I played it safe on the spice by not ordering anything hot, but I will say the medium was more reasonable as well. No issues whatsoever. And the curries were delicious. I loved trying the Shahenshah for the first time, totally delectable and very tender. The Baingan Bharta is probably the best I've ever had. (This dish can vary a lot in style, so it's tough to compare, but this eggplant was super smoky in flavor. Great care clearly went into charring it). And the Korma veggie assortment was impressive and plentiful. All in all this was a great meal. So I say, experience redeemed. I will note one of the awesome things about this place is that you can make almost any curry vegetarian (with multiple types of veg selections), and most are also available vegan. I love that accommodation. While I eat meat, I love veg curries, and I like that Tikka and Grill allows you to get more traditionally meat preparations with vegetables instead. I thought it was just okay. A word of warning: their online ordering system is a little confusing and we thought we were ordering from the 6th Street location. Showed up to pick up the food and learned we ordered at this location instead, then had to battle traffic to get to Broadway. Ugg. Maybe as a result, the samosa chaat, which I was SO excited for, was soggy, cold, and disappointing. The naan was really flat, more of a chapati than the fluffy naan I was picturing. What a hidden gem for Indian food lovers! I stopped in with my sister on Cinco de Mayo as a lot of local Mexican restaurants had long waits. It didn't disappoint! Their Saag Paneer was delicious and one of the best I've ever had. We were also impressed by their margs with fresh lime juice and LALO Blanco Tequila. I ate here several years ago when it was an Italian restaurant, the place looks the same as it did back then. This place sounded just right for lunch--and I appreciate it when restaurants offer a lunch menu--which Tikka and Grill delivered. The noodles with chicken was tasty with medium spice offering the right heat for me. The lentil soup (included) was tasty. My friend enjoyed his mashed eggplant dish with rice. The menu states these dishes come with papadam but none was included. However, the portions were so generous we didn't need any more food and we both left with leftovers for the next lunch.
