I got it with Butter Chicken which was so good! Highly recommend as it was creamy, medium spicy, and very aromatic. I absolutely loved the street-style chaat! It's creamy, crunchy, cold, and loaded with flavors and textures. Such a satisfying bite and I almost couldn't stop until it was gone. I love that this Thali came with both rice & naan as I usually want both and can't decide lol! The rice was fluffy and aromatic from the cumin while the garlic naan was fresh, soft, and delicately brushed with garlic & parsley. I didn't care for the dal soup (bit too watery) or the jeera potatoes (bit undercooked) but the dessert was a nice way to end the meal. Their options included rice pudding and gulab jamun; I went with the "healthier" option lol. It was creamy, sweet, and cooled down my palate after the various dishes. We have been patronizing spice room for years. It's always delicious. Everything is cooked to order and done well with the requested spice. Regulars are chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, kadai, cheesy garlic naan, chai tea, samosa chaat, garlic spicy cauliflower and others. All so good Full bar. Cozy interior that is always loud and full of people. It's clean and restrooms are ok. Patio is ok when we have the dog but not a Juliet of their experience. Limited seating inside and reservations are recommended for peak times and weekends. It's 4pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was over half full and a dozen people have come and gone for take out. So, I came here a couple times in the past. It didn't really stand out in my memory (no negative ass associations, but no burning desire to come here again). However, I have been going to the Arvada location quite a bit the last year or so. And since this location is conveniently located just two long blocks away from the Federal Theater, I decided I needed to try it again. It is really good. It is the exact same menu as the Arvada location. The service is very good. Prices are a bit steep, but that is par for the course these days. The food is really well-made, I have not had anything here that I did not think was well prepared. Probably my biggest problem is trying to decide between ordering one of my old favorites or trying something new. Sometimes you get rewarded with something amazing and other times you realize "oh yes, those aren't quite the flavors I was looking for". But, I can definitely recommend this location and we'll be eating here again. Uber convenient to grab dinner here before going to a concert or other show at the Federal Theater. read more

Wonderful! We had been to another one of their Spice Rooms in Arvada and it was perfection. I thought I'd show the family this other location, and it was just as delicious! We are now huge fans. We used to love Yak and Yeti, but the quality went down and so we've been on a hunt for a new Indian/Nepalese. This is it. The hunt is over. We love this place, the service, the quality, the ambiance. I'm willing to bet that even though they have several locations, the quality is top notch each time. While the ambiance wasn't as pretty on 38th as it was in Arvada, it still made up for it with the excellent food and service. Glad to have found a new favorite! read more

The Spice Room did it again-amazing Indian food! We ate way too much went to bed extra full but when the food is that good how do you stop? The chicken Shahenshah is our favorite dish and we always get that with naan and we've started getting the french fries because french fries and curry is just an unbeatable combination. I'm a big fan of their Chana saag and the sag paneer also very good. In fact I've never had a bad meal there. Lately we order all of our spice room online and pick it up and eat it at home and I've been really impressed by their commitment to using sustainable packaging. They do take a bit longer to cook, so would recommend ordering them early. We tried some unique dishes, the mango chicken curry and the honey curry. Medium spice packs a punch, in a good way. The honey curry was very sweet, more like an Indian version of a sweet and sour chicken, with fried pieces dripping with honey. I probably wouldn't order it again, but it'd be good for someone who wants something more suited for an Americanized palate. The mango curry was delicious! Overall, Spice Room is a great spot for Indian food and I'd like to dine in so I can try a bunch of the authentic Indian street food appetizers! I was really looking forward to trying a new Indian spot in the area, but I was massively let down by this location. Let's start with the good: The service was great. I was sat down upon entering even though it was a busy Thursday evening. There were multiple workers who checked in on us from time to time and we appreciated their attentiveness. The papadum cracker was perfectly crispy and I loved the flavors of all 4 sauces that it came with, especially the yogurt sauce with onions. I was expecting to be wowed by the food after eating the papadum, but it was all just meh. There was definite lack of spice and flavor within my vegetable korma. And perhaps I could have ordered up from mild to intensify the flavor, but my usual mild veggie korma at Himchuli is always flavorful. The korma only tasted of creamy coconut, and the vegetables were a little mushy. I did appreciate the variety of vegetables. My friend's chicken tikka masala was also described as just being okay and lackluster. Then the cheese and garlic naan came to the table and I thought it looked a little greasy but was hopeful for a punch of flavor to save the day. It's really mixed for me. I was first swept off by the Chai. Something about it being served in a mini teacup atop a saucer and although it didn't taste too milky, there was a visible film of milk fat on top. I LOVED how balanced the tea-milk-sugar levels were. It was the perfect cup of Chai. If they sell it to-go, I'd come here just to pick it up! Maybe with another to-go item - the Tandoori chicken. It is so different from other Indian restaurant's ubiquitous tandoori chicken that's usually colored like Char Siu (Cantonese style BBQ pork) and super dry. Spice Room's version is super moist and juicy, served on a piping hot fajita plate! From there it's downhill... The Appetizer platter was ok, nothing to write home about. But I also had to write home about how salty the Chicken korma was. I thought maybe that's how they do saucy meat dishes, but no. My friend's potato curry was also loaded with sodium. And the worst was when you think you can wash it down with some nice naan, the bread was all burnt, dry and hard. I can't believe they screw up something as simple as naan. Hubby's Chicken Biryani tasted funny. Perhaps that's a very regional dish that requires some special skill to make good. I want to say I'm scared to try anything else.
