Placed a to go order for the shrimp pad Thai and I was pleased! One thing I always worry is that restaurants will sell you short for to go orders however this place definitely was generous! They packed the order completely and made sure there was plenty of shrimp! I think the problem with the to-go is that the noodles towards the bottom started sticking together like when you keep pasta in the fridge overnight. Let me say , it is hard to find an authentic Thai food around here in the Fredericksburg area. We always get duck roll here and it is amazing. They're dough is made of roti. Soups are always tasteful . My husband loves to get duck salad here along side with sticky rice. My main dish hear that I always get is duck noodle soup. It is hard to fine at Thai restaurants. Our service was immaculate. Our waitress was sweet and very attentive. The lighting in this restaurant is very warm and cozy. A perfect place for date night. I've come in twice and every time i come in, I'm told that they are taking "a break" and there's take out orders only at a certain time--mind you i saw a family walking out and another family sitting down to eat right in front of me. Came here for the first time and I'm afraid to say that I won't be going back. It was a big holiday shopping day and nobody was dining in. I was only doing to-go and the server gave me the menu to look over. The food on the menu looked pretty good and I ended up ordering the mango rice dish with chicken. It took less than 15min to prepare and I took it home to eat. Unfortunately, the food was extremely bland. Absolutely no flavor, especially the chicken. I love Spice Thai. The space was another Thai place and when it changed hands I worried but needlessly - it's even better. Granted I tend to eat the same dishes often but that's because they're good! The service is always friendly and helpful. The ambiance is low key and comfy - great booths. I go often with my dear friend/sister who is from Chengdu China but also lived and traveled in Thailand and she loves it here, too. The menu is diverse with options. I love the spicy Basil shrimp or chicken, she loves the Thai fried rice, we also get dumplings and calamari sometimes. In summer I crave their cold noodle salad with seafood. Last night was the worst experience I have had at this restaurant. My sister and I often eat at his restaurant. We enjoy the food and the excellent service we usually get from Phil. That was not the case last night. Phil greeted us, seated us, and brought water to our booth. After giving us a few minutes to review the menu, he returned and took our order. We each ordered the tofu soup and wings. When we began to eat the wings, they were undercooked. I motioned for Phil to come to our booth and showed him that the wings were undercooked. He was apologetic and said he would bring us a new order of wings and ensure they were fully cooked. Phil later returned with a single order of wings when I questioned why only one order, he replied, " It's free. (Both orders of wings were not fully cooked.) We were perplexed, but finished our meal, and Phil returned with the bill, still charging us for the two orders of wings. When we inquired why the bill still showed the two orders of wings, Phil appeared agitated. My sister asked for the manager, Phil responded that he was the manager, so my sister asked who was over him. Phil then took the bill, used profanity, balled it up, and threw it away, returning with a new bill that charged us only for the soup. We left and discussed how unpleasant and unprofessional this experience had been after reading the reviews. I have to agree with Shannell B. Phil has a problem with African Americans. The food was NOT good at all. I got the soup with shrimp for $9 and it literally had 3 small shrimps in it, The Pad See-Ew was Eww! The worst I've ever had. The noodles were overcooked and the meat didn't taste good. The Thai tea was super bland and Lastly, the Mango Sticky rice was OLD! The Mango looked like it was cut a week ago and the rice had no flavor or sauce. Totally disappointed and will never come back here again. Wasted over $40 for this dinner. But our massage was longer than we'd expected, and we just decided to dine in. We ordered the Thai sampler, which was 2 spring rolls, 2 dumplings, 2 pot stickers, 2 cheese rangoons and 2 chicken satay. Everything on the sampler was fantastic and delicious! We also ordered the Wonton soup, which is minced chicken and shrimp with vegetable in clear broth.. It was just meh. For our entrée, we split the chicken pad Thai, which is stir-fried medium rice noodles, bean sprout, scallion, egg, red tofu, and crushed peanuts. It wasn't the best Chicken Pad Thai that I've had, but I didn't think it was bad. My husband didn't like it at all. We really wanted to try Garnjana, but like many restaurants in Fredericksburg, they were closed on Monday's. I'd eat there again, if for nothing else but the sampler platter. I'd likely try a different entrée. But...I'll have to go with someone else, because my husband said it was a 'one and done' for him. Place was clean. Their door sign and website state that they are open from 11am-9pm. I was seated at 2:22pm for a late lunch, late for a reason. I was given the bum rush that I could order as long as I was for sure out their door by 2:45pm. While I had zero intention of lingering, I also was not interested in rushing or cramming down a meal I'd not yet even ordered (after 2:22pm) with no idea when it would arrive at my table . I declined to order and left. I understand the 2:45pm lunch closing maybe for the usual post pandemic reasons as long as a customer in the door before that time can be given about 30 min to finish the meal they are paying for from when that meal is brought to their table. We use to come here all the time. I don't know what happened to the service, but it has totally went down hill. The server Phillip used to be a friendly person; however now it is very difficult to get him to even say you're welcome when you say thank you. When you ask him anything, he acts like it is a problem that you are bothering him. If you order additional food, he makes it seem like it's a problem. I never seen as server with a lack of care for their customer . If they had better service this place would be booming. We've been going there for about three years, but the place has gone downhill. The last time we went, my wife ordered Crying Tiger which is supposed to be slices of beef with a dipping sauce. a scoop of rice, and a salad with really good Thai dressing. When it came there was no dressing, just a pile of place lettuce with a few bits of cucumber. The server (also the owner) had just dropped it off and left so I went up to the front to tell him they forgot the dressing (which had happened before), but he just glanced at me and flatly said they were out of dressing and went back to what he was doing. He didn't tell us when we ordered and didn't offer anything in compensation. So we ended up paying $18 for a few slices of beef, a small pile of lettuce, and a scoop of rice. The food has definitely lived up to expectations as the ingredients were fresh and food was very flavorful. However, this 2-star review was warranted because the server was awful and quite rude. Upon entering the restaurant at 9pm to order take out I asked about popular menu items as I hadn't been in before and he brushed me off and tossed a menu towards me. I used the QR code menu and took a glance at the menu and not even 1 minute later the server made a comment that said "can you hurry up and order before the kitchen closes" I then responded "okay what time does the kitchen close?" He then responded "well....um...tonight we will close at 9:30pm" mind you it was only 9:05pm. I ended up ordering the Chicken Pad Thai, Tofu Drunken Noodles, and Spring rolls. After receiving my food the server finished the visit up with a microaggression about my hair. This experience truly put a bad taste in my mouth about this restaurant from the server. Second time trying Spice Thai and wanted to give them a fair review. Honestly the food is pretty good, comes out hot and nice portions sizes. I had the Mango Chicken Curry which I enjoyed but you have to like Mangoes. It was little spicy but has chunks of Mangoes which helps with the sweet. Family also had the phat Thai which was also good. We had soups including the lemon grass and coconut soup. One thing I noticed about soups was they were steaming hot. Most places we go to soups come out luke warm/hot. Prices are great, restaurants looks clean and large and location is convenient. Now the reason for -2 stars the service. We dined on a Friday night and they had about 5 tables but I can also see they were doing a nice take out business. We were sat right away but no one greeted us for about 5 minutes and when I say greeted I mean no small talk just in your face what would you like to order! The guy server wasn't very friendly or personable. He brought one of our drinks but not the other. Actually had to request my water from the female server when she came by which was after we received out appetizer and soup. The male server wouldn't even fill the water up when he noticed it was empty or remove any empty dishes from table. I guess I'm really big on customer service and when your a small business I think Customers Service is even more important. We will probably try this place again when we can't make it to out regular Thai restaurant. read more

Tried the Spice Thai for the second and last time. There was a bad odor just inside the front door. The place was empty. I sat down and was given a menu and water. I asked for any lunch specials- weekday during lunch- and was just told no lunch specials. Very abrupt he came took my order. Didn't wait long and the spring rolls came out nice and hot. Nothing special. I ordered the sizzling beef. It came out hot with a scoop of rice. Pretty much no flavor at all. Beef was not seared and sauce was very bland.
