I ordered chicken wings, pan fried dumplings, Chinese donuts, general Tso chicken w/rice and spring rolls, Szechuan chicken w/fried rice and an egg roll, chicken lo mein, yum yum sauce and the spicy honey sauce. Total came to $62. It was very delicious and we hardly had any complaints, except for the Szechuan chicken...it was terrible but it wasn't Szechuan chicken. Wonton soup was salt and strong of black pepper, wontons were very soft (over cooked). I wouldn't get the soup again. Beef lo mein lunch special with spring rolls. Sometimes, just from a couple of three dishes, you can get an excellent idea of the restaurant, because if they can't make some simple things well, they certainly won't be able to make the more complicated ones well. It started with two egg rolls. Pretty easy, huh? I've made great ones at home. THESE two were over fried, so the skins were dark and either the oil wasn't hot enough or it was old because grease glistened from the skin and then just oozed out of the skin when I picked one up to take a bite. There's no excuse for that at all. I needed napkins to capture the grease. Next was the pork fried rice. Full of chopped roasted pork, peas, a bit of egg, a bit of cabbage. I don't think I've ever had fried rice this dry and lacking flavor. Again, it's not difficult to make fried rice. Then came the roast pork lo mein. A giant container of it, packed to the rim. I could tell by looking that it also wouldn't be good. It was the lightest colored lo mein I've ever seen and for good reason. It was flavorless. To make matters worse, the noodles were over cooked and mushy. Maybe it will taste better cold with some additional soy sauce and garlic. Finally, was the dish that brought me there to begin with! Crispy Beef with celery and carrots. Let me explain. Another name for this dish is called Dry Fried Beef. I've had it in Chinatown in Washington DC and in New York. It's made with thin slices of beef. Typically, if it's made correctly, beef is stir fried until it's dry, and chewy with a very spicy Szechuan GLAZE (NOT a sauce). Most restaurants, if you can ever actually find this dish, deep fry the beef which is what Dragon Express did. The problem with THIS dish is that while it looked very close to what I've had at numerous Chinatown restaurants, THIS dish was swimming in sauce, not spicy at all, and was way too sweet. Such a disappointment bc this is a dish that's difficult to find, and when you find it and it's made well, it's delicious and memorable. I can't rate this restaurant over two stars and I won't be back. They were also a bit chinsy in giving only one fortune cookie and that one was broken on receipt, but then should have I expected better? read more

The new Dragon Express on Courthouse Road (Spotsylvania) does not disappoint. Just living around the corner our food has always been fresh and within 30 min to our door. We order on-line and the online service is easy to use; select your food provide your CC info (recommend having it preloaded for auto fill) and wallah. I like dumplings and most places they are not all that good. The pan fried dumplings from Dragon Express are plump, full of filling, the photo, it says it all. Finally! We have found our favorite Asian Fusion Cuisine to have in a flash for late nights or works days that are long. read more

My husband and I love ordering Chinese. We noticed this particular restaurant and decided to try it because it's extremely close to our home and seemed to have just opened, recently. We were excited. My husband got general tsos - it had a complete different flavor than any other general tsos we have ever had. I had lo mein noodles and sweet and sour chicken - my noodles were quite bland and the sweet and sour chicken was both hard and gray in color. We did order the sugar donuts - those were delicious. Warm and amazing. I didn't pick up the food but my husband did - he said it seemed very chaotic inside like everyone was still trying to find a flow of the restaurant. After seeing my chicken gray and hard - I do worry about the sanitary aspect of the restaurant and if they would meet OSHA standards. Husband says we will never order from here, again, and I understand why. read more

Ok, this place is definitely not for dining in...strictly takeout. The food was very tasty, and fresh. My wife and I ordered on Valentine's Day, the place was slammed. I waited for my food while a line of customers ordered...like I said, this is not a dine in place. They have a few tables in an undecorated room with boxes of dry goods and take out boxes. I thought the food was quite yummy. Even though it wasn't steaming hot, we ordered sweet and sour chicken, general tso chicken, crab wontons and combo rice and all of it was amazing. Sweet and sour chicken was really crispy and the sauce had proper flavor that included peppers and carrots. read more

We ordered from this restaurant for the first time tonite and we had General Tso Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Both were very good and the ordered time to completion was very good. We will be ordering again. Location is very convenient. read more
