I was happy to see a place with vegan options. I opted for the mock sesame chicken and it's one place where I live that has the best sesame chicken but with tofu and it taste better than the real thing with broccoli. This had nothing but sesame and it was ok at first bite but a different lingering taste after. It may be the breading I wasn't sure. The rice was almost mushy or overly cooked. It wasn't like rice I get but maybe due to weather, I'm not sure but we also had special combination fried rice with no onion and they loved that and the vegetable roll was not bad. read more

Yes this is the way to go! I picked up at the end of a stressful day, there was ice all day and my toddler had to go to the ER. I drive by Fu often and thought the name was interesting but had never walked in. I called in before picking up my CVs order and got general tsos with egg drop soup and an egg roll. I'm a believer now fu! The food is cooked perfectly, rich in color and flavor. The person working there was friendly and personable. I had to wait a little bit and got to see 5 different patrons go in, all clearly long time customers of Fu. Order took 45 minutes instead of the stated 20. Egg roll tasted like it was made 2 weeks ago. I got sweet and sour shrimp - the shrimp still had the "poop veins" unremoved. We usually order from here every Sunday. Sundays are our Chinese take out days. We love it. The crab Rangoons are the best around, we also get the beef lo mein, and the general Tso. We didn't hit the buffet, just a simple dine in order of Chinese food burritos & general Tsos chicken along with crab rangoons. The Chinese crabby cream cheese concoctions were good, an ugly design but sweet taste, crunchy where they should be and soft where they should be. Enjoyed them more with the sweet and sour sauce. General Tsos chicken was good, everything you'd expect from cheap Chinese. Their prices are good, cheaper or comparable to other competitors. It sucks having to give a place one star, but there wasn't a single redeeming quality to the food. I'm new to the area, so I picked the closest place to try as my new go to Chinese joint. the verdict is, I'm very quickly moving on to the next closest Chinese restaurant because the food was terrible. For starters, the rice wasn't fully cooked and it was wet. So weird! Rice! The rice was cooked improperly... At a Chinese restaurant... It's almost inconceivable. The wonton soup had a deep rich color, but shockingly, it had no flavor at all. The wontons were okay, but the filling was indistinguishable from the wrapper. The egg rolls were slightly under cooked, but edible. The general tzos chicken was awful. It was all tiny pieces of tough, dark meat. It was very tough. There were maybe four pieces of white meat. And there was no broccoli. Maybe it's just me, but I actually like vegetables. And broccoli is pretty standard to general tzos, isn't it? The dish was almost inedible. I threw out half of it. The chicken lo mien was just as bad. I can't put my finger on exactly what was wrong with it, but lo mien is such a staple, I don't think I've ever had it remarkably different from one place to the next place, so it's nuts how off it was. And of course, there was hardly any chicken in there. At least half of that went into the trash as well. I will say, the cashier was polite. And the mother yelling at her kid to do his homework in the dining area was hilarious. But I will not be returning. Overall, this was a $30 meal, of which I threw out maybe half. read more

I ordered sweet and sour pork and crispy beef. The pork came with a side of unnatural colored sauce that clearly poured out of a 1 gallon jug. It was truly disgusting. The tiny pieces of pork were buried in fried batter. The food was so bad I called and told the owner how bad the food was. She said she'd try the sauce. That's pathetic.. I downloaded yelp and made an account just to review this restaurant. The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere was super relaxing. These were the best, freshest and crispiest spring rolls i've ever had, and the vegetarian/vegan options were out of this world. The hot and crispy tofu was absolutely the most delicious tofu i've ever tasted in my life, i live an hour away from this restaurant and i'll definitely end up coming back despite the drive up. Walked in for lunch buffet on a Saturday and opened the door to an empty dining room. The wait just to be seated was a couple of minutes and they were just getting the food out and ready. Their soup was very slimey in texture which was off putting for a soup broth. Most of the meats had no major difference in taste. The food carafes did not do a good job of keeping food warm. This place seems understaffed. The hostess was bussing the table and filling the carafes. With the small portions that were being dished out on the carafes I wonder if she was cooking the food too. We love this place! The pork fried rice is full of juicy chunks of pork, they don't skimp on ingredients, or portions . Sesame chicken is the best I've had in Fredericksburg also. The Chinese food here is more fresh, definitely more taste, great price. I do wish they had a real chinese hot mustard though. read more

I was always told the food was "surprisingly" good and to try the buffet. I arrived in the mid-afternoon and told they have no buffet. That's *super* disappointing, but it's Christmas so they may be short staffed. Placed an order off their menu and NO food (apps or main) arrived after 20 minutes. Although the place was mostly empty, they said they had a "large to-go order" which prevented other food (dine-in apperently) from being made. I left. Terrible service and experience. Very disappointed. I was originally hopeful that this would be "my" Chinese place in town. After today, it's a HARD pass for me...I hope your experience is better. read more

I tried this restaurant tonight based on the review of Kelly K. She's right: the mock sesame chicken was wonderful! So was the fried rice with mock chicken and beef. The texture of the fake meat was so real! The menu has special section that lists 10 mock-meat dishes. I'm looking forward to trying the mock szechuan beef next, since the beef in the fried rice had such a great texture. For vegetarians who are tired of ordering the same old thing at chinese restaurants, you'll love this! I will NEVER order from this restaurant again. I have ordered from them before because the food is decent and they're very close to my house. However, tonight I ordered Chow mein, which apparently everywhere but their restaurant is for a fried noodle. They brought me some soggy noodles with vegetables. From the time it took for me to serve my food and go back to my table (which was very close to the buffet) my food was already cold. I'm sure it would've been much tastier had it been hot. I ordered a Ma Po Tofu and Steamed Dumplings for delivery. It arrived within the estimated 40 minutes and was fairly priced. I normally order from Hunan Garden but decided to try Fu Kien Gourmet since Hunan Garden wasn't open for some reason. First off, the steamed dumplings visually looked appealing. But when I took a bite into one, I instantly tasted something off, chewed a bit, and realized it was that the meat tasted extraordinarily plain. When I bite into a dumpling I expect delicious, juicy insides with beef or pork along with a few diced veggies. All I know, is that the dumplings were very plain and the meat inside was almost dry. Almost. I was very disappointed, since dumplings are the highlight of my order and are always something to look forward to. This is the first time I've been disappointed with dumplings. My entree was the Ma Po Tofu. I actually started feeling sick in the middle of eating this. The tofu itself tasted rubbery and completely unappetizing. I've had delicious tofu that I'd scarf down, so this was extremely just strange to taste. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 was because that actual sauce and vegetables tasted great. I decided to eat around the tofu and didn't finish my dish. Most importantly, after eating this food my stomach immediately became upset and I was running to the bathroom for a long while after. I don't know if they had spoiled ingredients or what, but that was a first and a last for me I'd been to their buffet and was dissatisfied but hoped that they might take more time and put more quality into their delivery.
