I ordered to go and wonder if it would have been different if we were to dine in. - Pad Thai - Taiwanese Lo Mein - Walnut Shrimp - Gway Tiow - Whole Fried Fish - Hunan Style Combination The whole fish came out fried but because it was to go, it was a little soggy, we refried it in the air fryer, no big deal. It was decent, sauce was on the side so that helped a lot from being super soggy. This was probably the only decent thing at a reasonable price. Hunan style combination was salty, the walnut shrimp was soggy as well, I guess i could have reheated this up as well since it was fried in batter. Shrimp was big and plumpy, there was no sauce that came with it on the side, only this yumyum sauce. Not sure if it was for that, if it was, very meh since the sauce is salty and not sweet. My favorite thing to get at other asian places is the Gway Tiow aka Chow Fun, but it was super soggy. The noodles were over cooked, it was also a tad salty, the lo mein was salty too, and the pad thai was meh, noodles were over cooked. I picked it up and the noodles would fall off the chopsticks and tasted mushy. It didn't have much flavor to it anyways. Drove all the way here from Stafford because of the reviews on Yelp. Arrived at 6:15PM, according to all online hours and even the sign on their door, they are open until 9PM. Place is closed, empty, nobody answers the phone. Make sure you call ahead of time because they obviously don't adhere to their own advertised hours. read more

Been coming here 15 years and this is the worst service I have received. The old owner was pleasant and friendly. She always paid attention to the customers. The food is gross. Wonton soup with lettuce and no wontons. Pad Thai that had no spice , instead was sweet as if I was eating a plate of syrup. The older gentleman that was unprofessional lie multiple times and seemed very rude when asked if the menu changed. The restaurant had a facelift but the service was horrible. Paid outrageous prices for poor service and the older man that seemed like he needed a major attitude adjustment and some seasoning for this bland food. I would give this place zero stars. read more

I was looking for a lunch stop as we made our way to the Carolinas and based on Yelp reviews (the husband wanted sushi), Asian Diner Restaurant won. The location itself was slightly congested as we got off the highway, but we had easier access getting back on the interstate along with a gas station before hopping back on. We ordered some lunch specials. I got the Veggie Pad Thai and my husband ordered a 2 sushi roll special (Spicy Tuna and California Roll). The lunches came accompanied with your choice of soup or salad. The food was good. The service was efficient and we are in and out of the restaurant within 30 minutes. The interior of the restaurant was a bit dark with not enough natural light or even interior light. Other than that it served us just fine for a lunch, gas fill up and bathroom break. read more

A little late on this review, but here it is. I decided to try a new Asian restaurant and wasn't disappointed. The decor and atmosphere was quite nice, and the service was outstanding. I ate quite a bit this time around, starting with some tuna sushi and some spicier rolls. I followed this up with a tasty dish shredded beef on a bed of greens washed down with some green tea. I know that I am missing an additional item or two, but thoroughly enjoyed everything I consumed. I will definitely stop by again to explore the remainder of the menu items. Came in for lunch and had a great experience! The food was the best Chinese in Fredericksburg by far. I wish I had taken a photo before we started eating. Everything was fresh and flavorful. It looked good! They were nice enough to substitute the shrimp tempura for a vegetable tempura... Thank you! (My God daughter is allergic to shrimp.) I got the beef bowl - teriyaki meat on white rice with a slice of takuan. The thinly sliced beef was tender and tasty! The sauce dripped down onto the rice, making it flavorful! I've been here a few times and it seems to be very hit and miss. One thing that reeeeally bugs me is when any Asian restaurant advertises panang curry (which is my favorite) and it's green/white -- panang curry is literally red. It's a red curry paste, because it's made with chili's which also means it's spicy. I've made it myself, how restaurants sell "panang" curries that aren't red OR spicy blows my mind but Asian Diner is one of them. The crab rangoon is also 95% cream cheese, which as a huge crab rangoon fan (because I mean, who isn't) was just disappointing. Other items here are good, like typical chinese delivery food such as egg rolls or crispy/orange chicken; but I wouldn't recommend this place if you're not looking for anything past basic chinese food. read more

The place is in a dark strip mall area that needs to be updated/painted. Gets a 2 for atmosphere. Service was friendly and helpful. Needs a little more training but was very attentive always checking in with us. She gets a 3. Food was outstanding and gets a 5. We had a pot of ginger tea. 1 beer , 2 soups 2 salads, 6 beef dumplings that were freshly made , pan seared and served piping hot. My chicken curry was perfectly seasoned. I have been here on several occasions and have always been pleased with the service and quality of their food. With most options, they allow you to request brown rice, for a slight upcharge, which is a nice option. I usually order a variety of sushi and have enjoyed everything they've served. Their Yami roll (spicy tuna and avocado deep fried) is exceptionally delicious! Also, their Spiderman roll, which includes an interesting honey-wasabi sauce, is incredible. I have been a fan of this restaurant for some time. The food is good, the portions are good (especially the lunch special), staff is nice. Since the COVID thing hit, we have been getting delivery from them. I walked into the restaurant in the very beginning and was told that they would bring it to me. Since then, we have done a contactless delivery routine. The food travels well. It arrives hot and tasty. The deliver person is very nice and very thoughtful. He wouldn't turn around in our driveway because he was worried about blocking us in. We do everything on the phone and he rings the bell and leaves it on the stoop. One time, he was afraid we didn't hear the doorbell so he texted me. Above and beyond. Always has on a mask even though we only see each other through glass. So, excellent food; excellent service, and a place that is watching out for their customers' health. You gotta give these guys a try if you have not. read more

The ordering part was odd because the lady who picked up the phone was responding to counter-guests or other callers, so I hung up and called again. This time, the ordering went as hoped. Chicken and broccoli, Chicken noodle soup for my aunt who wasn't feeling well hit the spot, and house fried rice was a bit under seasoned. They remembered the chop sticks and plates, but forgot the soy and duck sauce. The delivery lady with blond hair earned them the fourth star. Food 3-stars. Asian Diner is the MOST underrated Asian restaurant in Fredericksburg, and quite frankly, has better food than anywhere in the area short of Richmond or DC. As a veteran patron of many different Asian cuisine establishments, I would rank this unassuming (from the outside at least) diner in my all time top three. Particularly good are the Braised Chicken entree, Pork Fried rice (ask for the 2.00 upcharge rice to get the rice they serve with the dinner entrees as it is tastier) and the Black Pepper Steak with mushroom. Also fantastic are all of the soups (Yes, I've tried them all ) and the spring rolls. Can't give comment on the sushi, but with everything else being spot on I would assume this would be also. Internal ambiance is what you would expect from a quiet diner, a nice place to bring the family for a true treat. Thought this place was a hole-in-the-wall, but it was classy, delicious, and inexpensive. There's a saying about places like these that goes "if the service mean, you know the food will be good," well, I'm reporting that BOTH where very good here! (Score.) We tried sushi (average), potstickers (amazing, tasted housemade), wonton soup (light and wonderful), and coconut shrimp. My daughter reported that this was 'the best coconut shrimp she's had in her life.' Now she's six, so she may yet find better, but I'll add that they really were outstanding, and I'm older than six. Originally, I came here thinking it was a Thai restaurant for some reason, but it's actually a mixture of all different Asian types of food. I saw a little bit of Indian, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Viet, and even Filipino stuff so that was pretty cool. Not a whole bunch of one thing, but a scatter of all of them. My friend and I got their Roti Canai for our appetizer. Love getting this at Malaysian restaurants. This is a very thin chewy flat bread (?) type of texture with a curry sauce on the side. If they make it correctly, the flat bread will be crispy but chewy at the same time and dipping in the sauce is delicious. Our curry sauce was a tad on the watery side, but I hadn't had the dish in so long that I didn't really mind. I ordered "drunken noodles" but couldn't find it on their menu. What I got was drunken noodles, I suppose, just without the bell peppers and tomatoes and extra veggie stuff like that. I normally would have minded bc I love all of those flavors, but it wasn't made greasy and it was extremely savory and fresh so I really enjoyed it! Service was great. Ambiance was nice. I wouldn't say this restaurant was average, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Definitely slightly above average :) yummy read more
