There are giant take home boxes where you can grab several pounds of meat at once for a big party or a tailgate. The prices are all so low. So obviously, all the meats are coming from the classes that they're teaching in the meat and food sciences building that this place is attached to. Those spare ribs might have been some student's midterm project. The meat is all displayed (shrink wrapped) in big glass cases. Prices are clearly displayed. Buy in bulk and save! Everything is clearly labeled with the Texas A&M logo so nobody gets confused about where you got your meat. They have helpful posters that inform the purchaser about where different cuts come from on the animal. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They offer a microwave in the corner if you need to warm up something and take it to go. My favorite is the sausage that's shaped into a football. Gig 'em! Sadly, the store is not very clean, the lighting is dim, and the aisles often have boxes of product in them making it difficult to navigate. The prices are not clearly posted. There is product in the store that is expired, so be sure to check expiration dates. The staff, though limited in the English language, are always friendly. I will continue to shop this store because of the unique products they carry and my need for these products to make Asian food recipes that I really enjoy eating.

Brookshire brothers is a beautiful grocery store that is so enjoyable to shop in, wonderful staff who are so cared for- their stories of employment there are so beautiful, it causes me catharsis every time I BB comes to mind. They have a wide selection of everything you need grocery wise. From the general unhealthy foods and snacks that most Americans won't sacrifice, to the ultra clean, minimal ingredients products me and all my mom friends prefer. The fresh cut meat looked so good today that I felt regret for my last purchase of meat proteins (from HEB). Their sirloins were so beautiful they stopped me in my tracks. Will definitely be buying my meat there next time. The food was worse than the food you would get in East Texas at the various one-and-only-one Indian restaurants that many East Texas cities actually have. Flowers and banners came down from heaven and the music of flutes and lyres filled the air. * * * The Monk is the most recent addition to this healthy market correction. I can not speak about the earlier rescue arrivals. However, The Monk has long had a reputation in Houston as being an absolutely first rate chain. When I was visiting Cy-Fair, a knowledgeable local informant told me that the Monk was the best food I would get in Cy-Fair in ANY format. While I can't speak for the entire range of the competition (the Houston burbs having some formidable Mediterranean and Vietnamese), The Monk was everything advertised. I was completely impressed. * * * The Monk in College Station is just as impressive as are the Monks in their Houston city of origin. The actual details of what I ate don't really matter. I have never had a bad dish in any Monk. (Okay - except for the salty Lassi. Skip that one.) The decades of Indian food deprivation (at least in BCS) are over. Eat here in confidence.

We all ordered at the same time, but the food came out extremely slowly. 45 minutes passed before my friend's food came out, so we couldn't even enjoy the food together. The food itself was decent, but my stomach hurt after I ate, which could be because I ordered the chicken fry biryani at a medium spice level. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with the experience and do not plan on returning.
