You will find lots of products that you cannot find at local chain grocery stores, including fresh produce items. Sadly, the store is not very clean, the lighting is dim, and the aisles often have boxes of product in them making it difficult to navigate. The prices are not clearly posted. There is product in the store that is expired, so be sure to check expiration dates. The staff, though limited in the English language, are always friendly. This little Asian grocery store is awesome. I went to get the Bulduk noodles that are viral on Tik Tok. They had all the flavors and I literally paid 1.79$ a package. I was so excited!!! They have frozen food and fresh produce as well. The isles were busting at the seams but I didn't care because that just means they have a great selection of stuff. We are definitely going back and taking a cooler next time because we live about 35 mins from the store. I'd also be worried about shopping here if you're on a budget, most of the items either don't have a price or they're so faded you can't tell how much it costs. This place is one of the few Asian Markets we got here. They have just what I'm always looking for to make specific dishes such as pork adodo, Asian soup dishes, etc. Tonight, I made kimchee soup for my family and this place had what I needed (tofu, bean curd, gochujang (Korean chili paste), meats, kimchee, etc.) They have a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant on the side if you're hungry. They sell rice pots, pots/pans, teapots, snacks, etc. The parking lot is huge. The staff don't have the best communication skills due to the language barrier, but they're friendly every time I do try and ask them a question. read more

It's really surprising to me that I haven't reviewed this place on Yelp even though I have been a regular customer for the last 4.5 years. This place serves the best authentic Chinese food I have had in BCS. Please try to go for authentic Chinese dishes and not the Americanized ones. That's where the real flavor is. They also make great noodle dishes and other Chinese entrees. Their Sichuan food is amazing. I highly recommend their water boiled fish or beef (no it's not boiled healthy stuff. It's a really fiery gravy that will dial your taste buds up to 11). They have a separate Korean menu too! Pro tip: If you ask, they will make your rice into fried rice (with egg) free of charge. When we moved here a year ago, i was super reluctant to try this place after seeing so many 1-star reviews. But after being unable to find Sambal or Sriracha at the grocery store for close to 2 months, panic mode set in- i needed to set aside my fears and bite the bullet (or suck it in and try to schedule what used to be my once-a-month H-Mart runs to houston). This place gets the job done in a pinch. it's a bit higher priced than H-Mart but it's a smaller neighborhood place. It's definitely messy. When i walked in, I couldn't tell if they had just received a shipment or if that's how it usually is. They have a decent selection of housewares and sauces including my fave Korean ones. Review for the restaurant inside of the market!! After my recent anime binge watching Shokugeki no soma I've been on a search for mapo tofu. Low and behond my cousin says that this place has some good mapo tofu and chicken, so here I was, in town for his graduation and he took me here to try it. Can I just say, OMG. This was my first but not last time I eat here. Don't get me wrong it won't be easy considering I live in Fort Worth, but if I ever plan a trip to Houston you bet your tush i'll be planning a detour here. So the food in general is served family style and any main dish you order is accompanied by white rice. We ordered an assortment of food for our party of four; mapo tofu, kimchi fried rice, beef and vegetable stir fry, and also I believe it was orange chicken? either way it was all delicious. The mapo tofu had this flavor I've honestly never had before and to be honest I loved it, accompanying the tofu was also minced pork. Flavorful and delicious. The kimchi fried rice was good but not great meanwhile the beef and vegetable stir fry was also just good. The two weren't as flavorful as you'd hope. The orange chicken was absolutely delightful, being very crunchy but seasoned so well that it complimented all the other foods we ordered along with the white rice. Can find most any of the necessities of an asian kitchen here, and I appreciate that -- rather than having to drive to Houston for our needs -- but I deny one star because the place needs to improve their neatness. They also have a cafe that serves some decent food (dine in or take out). I rarely give 5 stars, so 3 is not terrible (my 4 star would be most people's 5 star). I just feel a business must really go above and beyond for a 5th star... and that is rare. read more

I've been going to this restaurant for many years already and they have done nothing but improve. I am a big fan of noodles so I've tried several of their noodle dishes. I remember when I first came, the only noodle soup they had was a Korean seafood noodle soup, which was absolutely delicious, but now they have so many more noodle soups, and the noodles are all hand-pulled! Amazing! In the winter it is very cold in the restaurant, so be prepared for that. Overall, wonderful authentic Chinese food! I highly recommend their Szechuan dishes if you like spicy food and their noodles are very delicious! My only complaint is that their spicy beef noodle soup, which is made Szechuan style is much to oily. read more

I've been hesitating to check this place out for a couple years now and I have no idea why. I finally bit the bullet because I had a hankering for some spicy rice cakes and didn't want to make the drive to Houston. I am so glad I did. They have a great selection of Asian ingredients and foods. My husband was excited to see some of his favorite snacks and I was able to find most of what I was looking for. They don't have an over abundance of brands for some things and there weren't many options for quick/easy to make spicy rice cakes but that's okay because I saved on time and gas expenses. The prices here are great! We spent $28 on the items in the picture after taxes and that's reasonable to me. I did dock a star because it's a little "messy" and disorganized. You'll have to be patient going in. Some things aren't priced but you can ask. If you don't know the language on the packaging it might be hard to know what you're getting. However, I did notice a lot of same item packages other brands had English descriptions so you could compare that way. The freezer section terrified me. It almost felt like things were just shoved wherever they would fit but like item things were still grouped together so it was still slightly organized? The staff were friendly and check out was a breeze. I'm happy to have found a good alternative when I need a quick fix of something and don't want to make a trip to stock up on things. Many items lack price tags too. I got a huge bag of sweet potato noodles, which is a win. I looked for readymade bao buns but could not find them, neither did I find Kimchi. Avoid shopping at this store. They have tons of expired products on the shelfs. My first visit there I was shopping for egg roll sauce. Found a cut opened box that had some and realized the date was passed due. I pointed it out to the owner and asked if she had anymore in the back or a different brand. She replied no. Picked up the box like she was surprised it had expired. Took it with her. I returned a month later and saw the same box in the same place. The sauce expired in February and my visits were over the summer. I also purchased a 25 lb bag of jasmine rice from there. When I cooked it, something just wasn't right. It didn't take taste fresh at all. I checked the bag and the freshness tag was cut off. If you didn't know, large bags of rice typically come with a ribbon to show the date of when it was manufactured. Today I couldn't find what I needed at HEB and was forced to go there and get what I need. First two things I picked up were expired. It's the last chance I have given this store. The young my girl that works at the register is also really rude. Never greets you at the register. I don't even think I got a thank you after the purchase. Avoid shopping at this store. There's no telling how bad some of their products are. Heb has a decent oriental section. If you can just go to Houston and stock up. read more

If your going to eat here, be sure to not have any food allergies, don't expect anyone to speak English, and if you don't speak Chinese or Thai, just point on the menu at what you want to the server, lol. I was so happy when I found out an Asian market existed in College Station! I decided to stop by and check it out and surprisingly found a lot of my favorite Asian snacks and miscellaneous things you generally would find in another Asian market. The place isn't as clean, but you can sort of expect that at any other Asian market. Personally, I wouldn't come here for produce, meats, fish, or any other fresh items since they don't really have much... But if you are looking for spices, noodles, miso paste etc. then this is your go to! OK, I love this place because it's the only store in town that I can get certain items (Thai curry pastes, good rice, Indomie, etc). I like the fresh and cheap produce section the best (fresh lemongrass, daikon, green papaya, tofu products, you get the picture). You can even get durian from the frozen section. But let's get real. Some of the frozen stuff has been there since I moved to CS (7 years ago). And in the past several months, the store is looking more and more like a scene from "Hoarders." What is with all the stacks of boxes everywhere? And why do the shopping baskets say "Target" on the side? I guess I know the answer to that. Nobody ever clean up god knows how long the meat has been in there. Also, to the owner, I don't care if you sell more expensive veggies and other stuff. Couldn't finish everything. Good portions. Took home leftovers. Would go more adventurous next time. Would like to try the buns. The atmosphere is "grocery store", because it is in a grocery store, so don't expect anything fancy. Clean and good service, with native speaking Koreans. Friendly servers and help. No alcohol. The staff's English is marginal at best but every single item I've had here has been just wonderful. I would recommend the ginger fish as a go to fish. This place is an ethnic grocery store treasure for the Brazos Valley. Oh you are into Asian grocery shopping, this is your go to place. It's a little disconcerting at first so take time to walk around. Much of the store is filled with Chinese products but you can also find some Japanese and Korean food products. There is a decent selection of fresh vegetables, some of which you won't find anywhere else in the Brazos Valley. It's one of the few places you can occasionally find live blue shell crabs. It is not as well stocked as the Asian ethnic grocery stores of Houston but it saves a lot of time on many Asian grocery purchases. They have a good area which has real Chinese food not found at your all you can eat Chinese food buffet. It's not shopping in New York City Chinatown but it serves its purpose here. read more

What a find! Who wouldda thought, right in BCS?! It's one of the best Asian grocery stores we've been to, and that's saying a helluva lot considering that we've lived in both San Francisco and the San Gabriel Valley in Southern CA (aka Asia central). Yes, the store is a little messy but as another reviewer said, this is nothing new for an Asian grocery store. We were thrilled to find such a huge selection of staples like noodles, pastes, miso, spices and even frozen dim sum goodies. The produce was excellent too, we must have arrived in time for a new shipment. Got a TON of greens and great stuff that we never see anywhere else. Only downside was the seafood was just too funky and old looking, but otherwise this place ROCKED. Great to see this in BCS, Texas of all places. read more

We love this place. It's by far the biggest Asian food store in the Brazos...I mean EVERYTHING is there. Meat department, produce, every kind of noodle on the planet. They even have Mochi Ice, which is a little frozen bit of heaven. The prices are fantastic, even for this part of the world. Regarding the butcher shop...I have to avert my gaze every time I walk by because the one time I looked, there were these little pink, glistening bits of something under cellophane, and I got all fascinated and looked closer and I'm so sorry I did. Pig ovaries. Gaaaahhhhhh!!! I ran off to the rice aisle and found my happy place. Continuing, probably my very favorite aspect of shopping here is the staff. They are super friendly and helpful, and will take you right to whatever you need. It can get confusing! They joke with you at check-out, will laugh when you want to try a natural green tea (they were right; that shit was disgusting), and make suggestions. Love love it. read more

This place is not well known since it's mostly a bunch of dang college kids, however they have some great products here. Their woks are amazing, I use mine all the time. They have a restaurant inside that is the best Chinese food I have ever had. If you go here you must get the sechuan chicken and egg rolls (it's enough food for two people so bring a friend). BCS Food Market is generalized oriental food market & grocery similar to Viet Hoa in Houston, but smaller. Like all these markets, seafood is a big part of this store, and like all of them, you smell it. So, don't be a sissy, and turn up your nose like a persnickety 'T-sip' sorority girl. This market sells innumerable condiment & cooking sauces, spices, herbs, rice & noodles, seafood, a small fruit & vegetable section, frozen foods, beer, woks,cookers, pots, utensils & more.... You can even buy live bamboo cuttings. They sell goods from China, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, India, & possibly others. The last time I went to BCS Food Market I bought about 10 cooking sauces to try. I hope that as B/CS grows, more diverse places such as this spring up- we have enough Tex-Mex & honky-tonks already. read more

When you've been spoiled by the great Asian markets major cities have--Portland, Seattle, Houston--its pretty hard to rave about this place. The counter restaurant, Shun de Mom Express, is objectively the best thing about this place. The selection of canned, jarred, and dried foods is impressive. There is a lot of fresh Asian produce here that is not for sale elsewhere, and they are good about writing little tips as to how to prepare it. Be aggressive in asking where its from. Meats, seafood, and frozen items are underwhelming, badly organized (frozen) and of very questionable freshness. Store overall is badly organized, cluttered, and as others have noted, does not smell especially pleasant. The people who work here are friendly. It's so messy and dirty and dark so I don't really like coming here, but whenever I do, I feel surprised by how much stuff they stock and think to myself, "Hey, I should come here more often." It's definitely no Ranch 99 or H-mart, but it has everything I need. I come here most often when I'm holding a hotpot party. It is great to have this store in BCS. I buy a few different things that are otherwise not available or more expensive. And that includes some fresh fruits, such as persimmons that are much more expensive at HEB or Kroger even if they show up there. The owners are friendly, and I've been greeted by them many times. They are trying to help the customers. However, I have several concerns about the food freshness, and I catch myself being alert to that. Just a few examples: 1. On 2-3 occasions, I've seen here some canned drinks beyond their expiration date. Once, I alerted the owner, and his reaction was that it was more of a nuisance than a problem. 2. I've seen some boxed sweets beyond their expiration date (and they were stale, when I once bought such a box). 3. I liked the fresh thin-cut (and frozen) meats, and there was a period of time when I was buying that meat every week. Then several times in a row, I found that it was not well frozen and looked as if it thawed by itself and then was refrozen. The owner blamed it all on the "boy", who presumably had been fired. But then I saw the same again, and I stopped buying that meat. 4. In the frozen food section (the left back wall) the freezers seem to be very strong, and a lot of food seems to be over-frozen. Despite that, a few times I encountered products that had clearly thawed at some point in time. It might have been while they were transported to College Station, I don't know and don't care where the "week link" is. Do you? In the most recent attempt of buying ice-cream mochi that I like a lot and buy frequently in Houston, Austin or Dallas, I was disappointed that it was also sub-par that same way, even though it is hard to tell until you put it in your mouth. One of the yelpers wrote: "The place isn't as clean, but you can sort of expect that at any other Asian market." While I understand what was meant, but I disagree. I wouldn't call this store being necessarily "dirty". Rather it is not attractive, because it is not well organized, with things staying here and there in what appears to be a "temporary" location. The fresh meat and fish displays frequently have the windows partially frozen so that it's somewhat hard to see through it. Besides, this fish display is very non-attractive, unlike that say, at "Ranch 99" or Houston's "Super-H-Mart" (also Asian food) stores. Update: when I mentioned the problem with the ice-cream mochi to the owner, she asked to bring that item back next time. When I did, she issued a refund. That was a pleasant surprise.
