Went this past Saturday for a M&M cookie, muffin, and coffee cake. Have to be honest that all items were the worst my wife and I ever tasted. Muffin (chocolate chocolate chip) was burnt and tasted at least a day old and chips were non existent. Cookie was dry, stale and tasted like chemicals. And the cake was just a disaster. I am absolutely disgusted by the service and lack of professionalism at this establishment. My friend has been ordering cakes from here for years so naturally when she offered to get a cake for my babyshower I did not hesitate. We sent them a picture and were told there would be an extra charge for to place cut out pieces on top of the cake ( fondent), we had no problem paying more money as long as we got the cake that we wanted. Well, I went to pick up the cake an hour and a half before my shower ( at 9 months pregnant ) to see a cake that barely resembles the picture we sent them ! There were no fondent cut outs there was a sloppy letter "M" with a crooked circled around and sprayed circles ! Mind you, I am very reasonable and tried to rectify the situation although I was nearly in tears that this amateur looking cake will be feautured in all of the pictures at my shower. The owner refused to fix the cake or even offer us a refund for the work he did not perform . I hope he is happy at putting a 9 th month pregnant woman into tears . Absolutely disgusting. I will be spreading the word to EVERYONE I know in Merrick and Bellmore, that is not how you do business ! Especially like I said before, my friend has ordered dozens cakes for all of her occasions from there. This was always my go to bakery, but not anymore. I ordered a cake for my sons baptism about 5 weeks before the day. I sent them a photo, and Luca looked at the photo to provide a price. They are not cheap! It was to be ready for 8am on the day since we had a lot to do that morning. I arrived shortly after 8, and it wasn't ready. I came back about 15 minutes later and they had it finished. The cake was to have about 15 French macaroons on it. When they opened the box to show me there were no macaroons. Luca came down to the store to tell me the macaroons didn't come out the right color, and he called me to tell me...A few minutes after I arrived to pick up the cake!! These are obviously factored into the price of the cake and there was no reimbursement. He gave me the macaroons that "came out the wrong color" but they were purple with pink shimmer. It's obvious they forgot to make the macaroons. If they had been forthcoming and honest about the fact they forgot to make the macaroons it wouldn't have been so bad, but being late, the cake not being right and no one giving me advance warning (i can guarantee they didn't make the macaroons that day) and a small cookie tray as a gesture to apologize, it just isn't good enough. I employee was helping a customer, 2 female employees stood discussing a note one of them had, while I looked at them and another employee walked past while he was working on something. I got the Maple Bacon and some Pistachio Cannoli like creation that i cannot wait to inhale later. Been here a couple of times. The sweets are always good (especially the doughnuts and gelato). Their prosciutto bread is great-- you can really smell the cheese from the moment you slice it. Super disappointed with this bakery. We were referred to them from a photographer to order a smash cake for our 1 year old son's birthday shoot. We called the day before and the girl we spoke to couldn't properly take a credit card number. Also they told us they wouldn't do it. Then, my wife called in the morning and explicitly said we need a small smash cake that we understand you do all the time and she was explicit in saying she doesn't want a big cupcake cake. When I went to pick it up, it was a huge cupcake cake and the owner, I guess, said my wife requested a cupcake cake. Everything I tried was out of this world. The doughnuts were my favorite. I've traveled all over Long Island to find a good doughnut and I found it. I tried a blueberry doughnut and it was amazing fresh tasting and airy. The bonus was the hidden blueberry jam inside each bite. The French toast doughnut is his perfect hybrid of doughnut and French toast. If they could have made it with eggs on the side it would have been the worlds best breakfast. Brought a few mixes to a party and everyone loved the unique flavors and the fresh taste. Even ones as simple as the chocolate and vanilla frosted were a big hit. Since relocating to a new building directly across the street from their original location, the owners have decided to expand their offerings to a become more of a cafe type establishment. Unfortunately, this comes at the expense of the core business which was the bakery. Having been a customer for many years, I've noticed that the shelves of baked goods are not as well stocked as before. The same staff serving the bakery customers is also serving the patrons eating in the bakery. It took me almost 10 minutes to be served because the diners are prioritized over the bakery customers. While perhaps these may be growing pains for the new location, the core business should not be neglected. read more

This is our go to spot when we are in Bellmore! They have an very unique and absolutely delicious variety of donuts. The first time we came in was by chance because my girlfriend wanted some sweets and we walked in and gave it a shot. My favorite donut is the creme brûlée followed by the french toast. So I previously left a 5 star review after my first visit to Spiga, but then... for Easter, I purchased a cake shaped like an Easter egg to serve as dessert after Easter dinner. The cake was so awful that even the children took one bite and wouldn't take another. I also purchased Easter bread baked with hard boiled eggs (Italian tradition). The eggs weren't colored, as they usually are, and they weren't fresh, so they were picked out and thrown away. Too bad. I thought Spiga was a keeper after my first visit, but consistency is important, and they are not consistent. read more

We needed to order a birthday cake for our son's party this past Sunday,well you would think ordering and PAYING for it at the time of placing the order would make it easier when you go pick up the cake Sunday would make it easier!! Guess again!!! WRONG!!! We had said we wanted to pick the cake up at 8am,well guess what my husband went to pick up the cake and nobody knew anything about,so they had an employee going to the back to see what was going on,yet still nobody knew where the cake was!!! All of a sudden the cake that was supposed to be picked up was being iced in the back!!! Very,very frustrating!!! Luckily we live close and we were having the party local,glad we didn't have to travel because we wouldn't have had a cake that was special ordered and prepaid for!!! They had nerve trying to charge us again,we had the receipt right in front of their faces with the big ass yellow and pink carbon copy!! Perfectly good espresso here! No frills Italian style bakery with a large selection of cookies, cakes, pastries, gelato etc. Sandwiches as well, as long as you're not vegetarian. They do a lot of catering, and there are some pretty amazing looking cakes on display. There's also a self serve coffee stand. Plenty of room to sit, if you can stand the loud radio, and lots of parking out front. It's a good thing they don't make cannoli, otherwise I'd come here way too often. read more

First time visiting this bakery in the next town over from where I live and I was really impressed mostly by the girl behind the counter by the name of Julina, she had a smile from ear to ear as she was helping me and really accommodated me by putting beautiful balloons on my daughter's birthday cake and then going out of her way to find the number 5 candle for her when they were out of stock, it was really a pleasure especially being that I just left Capri bakery in Seaford and they refused to put balloons on my daughter's birthday cake like I was putting them out! Because of this sweet young girl behind the counter I will be back for my future bakery needs! I really wanted to love this bakery because a good friend raves about it and has reviewed it on more than once occasion. Unfortunately, I do not feel the same way as others who have reviewed this bakery. I found the girls behind the counter to be scatter brained, unfriendly, and slow. I literally was waiting for the young lady to box up my doughnuts that I ordered (which I have something else to say about that) and she literally was dumping the carafes of coffee first prior to boxing up my doughnuts. I asked her what some of the doughnuts actually were because all of the names of the doughnuts were completely wrong and switched and when I told her she just said, "Yeah." Are you serious? I am pretty sure the owners would not be pleased to hear about this. Not only that but the doughnuts I bought were definitely old and not fresh from that day. I ordered the Creme Brulee, Banana Nutella, and pointed to the Maple Bacon yet was given the French Toast doughnut. I also got a three layered mousse dessert which was pretty good, I will admit. I am bothered by the fact that the pastries just don't look fresh, that the ham and jack mini sliders have been sitting out most likely most of the day and that I saw the young lady touching money and then touching the pastries with the same gloved hand. Everyone knows that money is the dirtiest thing possible. I was kind of skeeved out to be straight up. Although I did not try the cookies, they just don't look as delectable and fresh as other bakeries that I frequent in Long Island. The French Crullers are so good here but the staff is rude. They act like helping customers is annoying and they don't really have a system/line. They just help whoever is in front of them even if someone was waiting before them. Also they have absolutely NO COVID PRECAUTIONS. They don't limit the amount of people allowed in the bakery and don't seem to require masks. When I was there, 2 women came in not wearing masks and no employee asked them to put one on. Spiga is one of my local go to bakeries on Nassau's south shore along with Capri bakery in Seaford. The prices and selections are quite similar. I usually choose between the two based on the direction I'm heading. I like that Spiga has a coffee bar with some tables which allows it to serve as a cafe too. Another plus about Spiga is that it is open relatively late for bakeries. read more

Over priced and overcharged. A few weeks ago I stopped in for a st Joseph and 6 pignoli cookies. A young man helped me. My total was $9. Sticker shocked I asked the young lady to double check. Sure enough I was over charged by about $2. In lieu of a refund I asked for $4 of rainbow cookies. The young man rang it up and said its $5.50. I told him I asked for $4 because that was the cash I had on hand. He returned to the scale then returned to me. I checked the box and there was only 2 cookies. I ask the young lady to check and AGAIN I was over charged. Completely discontent at this point I asked for a full refund. The manager did not seem pleased and he blamed my "expensive taste" as both rainbow and pingoli are $24 per pound. I insisted on a refund and went elsewhere. Found a nice Italian bakery up the road (marios) where rainbows were $14 per pound and pingolis were $18. And they didn't overcharge. read more

For donuts we got bacon, italian creme pie, triple chocolate, german chocolate, cinnaBOMB and oreo. Everything was amazing. The donuts light and fluffy, fresh and yummy. Perfect amount of toppings, perfect everything. The donuts range in price and they charge per donut, not by the dozen. The prices were very reasonable and everything in the bakery was clean, beautiful and fresh. The girls behind the counter were very friendly and helpful in explaining what everything was when my kids asked over and over again "what's that? What's that? What's that?".
