What a disappointment. I went to Spiga bakery because I was starving and remembered they had pizza. The pizza wasn't made yet so I had to wait a while. So while I waited I've bought bread and a few donuts. My total bill was $39 and change. I was kind of shocked because I didn't buy many donuts plus 2 slices of pizza. I got the pizza went to the car to eat it and it was horrible. It was raw and it was like they just opened a can of tomato sauce and poured it on. So I get home and look at the donuts that I bought to serve company and they're all piled onto each other taking off the pretty icing from the one the below. They couldn't even give me a big enough box for the donuts. And the donuts have absolutely no taste. $40. What a rip off. read more

My son and his wife ordered a cake for their baby shower. The cake was beautiful. Unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing. The cake was overbaked, dry, lacked filling and flavor. When I called to speak to the owner Lucas, he was unreceptive, rude, disrespectful and arrogant. I had not asked for a refund, I just wanted him to be aware of the poor quality of the cake he charged a lot of money for, and most assuredly, would have been better baked in an easy bake oven by a five year old. Be ware.....once an owner and/or management of a business refuses to listens to the concerns or complaints from his customers, because he has gotten too big for his britches....it's time to take your business elsewhere. What boggles the mind..... this guy has moved to a larger location in Bellmore, and has opened a storefront in Massapequa on Merrick Road.... What's even more unbelievable, he claimed he made the cake himself that morning and there was nothing wrong with the cake, yet he couldn't remember the color of the cake, and it was picked up at 10:15 for a baby shower brunch. I've gone in a few times while next door at Ace Hardware and I've always been impressed with the great variety of breads and various baked goods. Fresh breads are super delicious. I haven't tried any of the sweets but they always look great. Staff is very friendly and the place does a good volume of business but any line moves quickly. read more

Spiga should get 10 stars... not only are their pastries out of this world... Luca is a phenomenal cake maker and super personable. We ordered a gender reveal cake and it was so delicious and perfect in every way. Spiga definitely helped make our special day even better. After being in a funk over learning that Reinwald's in Huntington Village, my go-to bakery, was sold to Butterkooky, I sure am glad that I found Spiga - a true contender. Although I would have to be on the south shore to frequent this location, their selection of pastries, donuts, paninis, cakes blew me away! The proscuitto/mozz panini was DELISH. The banana nutella donut was so good and the apple turnover, amazing! Everything looked as great as it tasted. The cakes look like they're a step (maybe even a whole staircase) above the buttercream/whipped topping cakes of supermarkets and many local bakeries. Wow what can I say, Luca from Spiga Bakery really made my cake vision a reality. My engagement party cake/masterpiece was the highlight of the party. Not only was it beautiful, the flavor was amazing. This is by far the best bakery around. We ordered a small wedding cake from the "cake boss" at the Bellmore store. Very pretty cake, white cake with chocolate mousse filling. Dry as can be and the filling was terrible. Bad after taste. Served its purpose for pictures but what we paid for the cake they could have used Betty Crocker cake for a better taste. Not friendly people there either but they had a good rep in the neighborhood. I guess if you need a cookie that's the place. Don't special order. read more

I've enjoyed many of there items. I stopped in to get a quote on a custom made wedding cake for my upcoming wedding. Spoke with a women behind the counter, showed her a picture of the cake that I was interested in ordering, discussed how many people we would be serving, etc. The owner/baker was standing within earshot of my conversation, he never came over to speak with me directly. The women that I was talking with took my phone to show him what I wanted, all he did was turn his head over his shoulder to give me a price. Thought he was rude, being I'm coming in as a customer giving you some business and he wouldn't give me the time of day! Went down the street to another bakery and they were HAPPY to Help me. I come in here from time to time to get coffee cake, very simple and delicious of course. Great bakery. Last time I was in here there was one other person and they were looking at cake pictures on their phone. I waited 10 minutes, approximately. Nobody acknowledged I was there. I proceeded to walk out and the lady then said "miss what did you need". I then said forget about it. It should not take 10 minutes and a walk out to then offer assistance. Really good bakery. Decor and baked goods are on point. Too many selections makes it difficult to chose just one. I wish they had labels on everything, instead of having to ask what each thing is. Ordered a cake 4 days in advance, was told it would be ready at 2:00 pm today and they charged me in advance. I waited on line outside for 10 minutes following the 4 person max rule. When I finally get in I come to find out they cannot find my order. The staff tells me to give them 5 minutes to find it. I waited half an hour for them to make a brand new cake all while staff avoided me, ignored other customers, did not enforce the 4 person rule as customers piled in asking how they could get help since staff was hiding in the back. Staff also wore their masks only over their mouths while handling food. Finally the cake comes out- no apologies, no explanations and I had to ask to see it. Overpriced, poor customer service, lack of proper health and safety precautions. Will not be going back nor recommending to anyone else. read more

From the rustic breads to the delicate cookies, everything is a complete delight. The selection of cakes and breads have never failed to impress. I wouldn't think of going anywhere without a stop by Spiga on the way. Every confection is a complete hit everywhere I go! I've been a fan of the people and superior baked goods and food at Spiga since they opened well over a decade ago. However, today, they went over and above and will forever have a place in my heart. Our family is currently on self quarantine due to immune deficiencies, and as such we cannot visit my elderly father. We typically see him daily, and this has been extremely difficult for all of us - especially during such a stressful time. Spiga took a phone order from me, and delivered it to my dad. The delicious food brought him so much joy! Thank you for helping me look after my dad at a time when I cannot tangibly do so. Just ate a chocolate covered brownie and all I can muster is wow. Its really more of a choc mousse covered with more chocolate and walnuts a great combo if your a chocolate person which I am not but the smoothness of the mousse was enough to make me want more. read more

I travel out to the Island to visit friends and family....and found this place a while back. Let me tell you....it's extremely good. Generally when I go to a bakery I try some of the basic staples and see if they get it right....most are okay..some are horrible..very few are stellar. This is one of the few great ones. Their Proscuitto bread (which they had out for sampling when i was first there) was outstanding. There is also a cheese bread. Wow. Perfect combination...not over filled and not "where's the beef". On top of their breads ... their pastries were excellent. From the filled to the order canollis to the cookies. Also the place is spotless. You can eat off the floor...and I don't mean because there are cookies there. If you are out in Bellmore....give it a try. read more

My sister bought a cake for family birthdays in February. It was a $27.00 7 layer cake. When we cut it for dessert, it was hard. It was almost as if it was stale. Needless to say, no one ate cake. My sister called the bakery the next day to let them know about the cake. She was told "I don't know how that could be - I watched them put the cakes in the case" The offer of a replacement cake would have been nice. The offer of a credit against future purchase would have been nice. The offer of a refund, full or partial, would have been nice. Even an apology would have been nice. No offer, no apology. No good review, Spiga, no good reference to friends and family, and definitely no return. read more

Such a great bakery. Have tried many since moving to the area including Capri, Fehns, and Francesco's and this one is the best hands down. I visit this bakery/cafe several times a month-I order the same items each time. The coffee cake is our staple each visit. We have a running joke-will the coffee cake be fresh, or day-old! This past week the cake was many days old!! We drove back to the bakery to request a fresh baked cake only to be told by the owner-"it's not stale" as he struggled to squeeze it with his fingers!!! He was nasty and insisted that this hard as a rock cake was a fresh baked product! No apoligies-just a nasty sneer!! Fantastic, freshly made treats. Had a canolli, which was perfect- freshly made shells that they fill upon request. This should be the only way you buy a canolli since the ricotta filling should be refrigerated and filled when you buy. There are a few tables to sit and enjoy one of the many espressos and gelatos they offer as well. read more

These four stars are for the French toast doughnut. It's dense like a challah/brioche bread, and super sticky ooey gooey. You'll need wet napkins after holding one. The gelato always looks delicious, but I haven't tried it yet. They have a dark chocolate mousse pastry that is out of this world! I've ordered a couple of birthday cakes that I have been very happy with. You can usually find some bread samples on the counter. The cheese bread is great! On my last visit, I was surprised to see rice balls and sicilian pizza. I didn't think to ask if they made them there, but I bought a rice ball for my son that I just had to sample. The chocolate mousse cake has become a birthday cake tradition for all of my co-workers because it is light, has great flavor and has a beautiful presentation.
