We visited on a Friday evening around 7:30pm for perspective. Just the two of us for a late dinner. The restaurant wasn't busy, but a modest number of patrons were inside. Upon check in, the hostess informed me it would be about a 20 min wait. No big deal. Within 15 mins or less I'd say our pager went off and we were shown our table. 2. Food * Starter: Mozzarella sticks * Entree: Ribeye (advertised as house special) * Entree: Filet Mignon * Sides: Fries, Baked Potato and included salad bar Starter was above average, hot and freshly made, good structure. Mozzarella sticks seem hard to mess up but honestly, it happens. Our server did mention that marinara was unavailable (not sure if that day or in general) Ribeye: Ordered medium rare, came out medium to medium well. Taste was mediocre at best, more grill grate less ribeye flavor. Out of 10, I would say 4/10. Filet Mignon: Expectations were high but a huge miss. Ordered medium, came medium. Flavor was far below expectations for this cut of meat. My wife described this as "dog food flavor." For the price ($39) this was disappointing. Sides: Sides were average. Fries were pretty standard, comparable to frozen fries that you'd throw in your air fryer at home. Baked potato was good (thankfully). Salad bar is included with dinner. Basic green mix with a basic offering of toppings. I would say everything was replenished when needed. 3. Service * Staff was average to friendly, from hostess to server. Average attentiveness and came to the table probably 3-4 times during service. One item to note: kitchen window/bar prep area is very close to salad bar. While at the salad bar, a group of servers were all chatting and talking about the customers they had currently or earlier in the shift. One server had a table she strongly disliked, and had no problem making that known amongst her peers. I understand back of house conversations happen, but in close proximity to customers seemed in poor taste. I left wondering what was being said if anything about us after we departed. TL;DR: if you're gonna talk shit about customers, try not to do it around your current ones. 4. Atmosphere * The location is wonderful. Quiet country charm with a distant scenic overlook of the spillway itself. It's a beautiful spot and the grounds are well maintained. Other reviews mentioned the interior as dated, my impression was it's very old style steakhouse/lodge inspired. It could use some updates sure, but I didn't think it was the focus of the night. 5. Overall value * Was it worth the price? No. One starter, two entrees and one domestic beer brought the bill to $97 before tip. A decent meal can be had for less with far superior food. I think the impression I walked away with is that this place has so much potential, and may have been great at one time but standards have since slipped. The location and feel was great, but the reason people come and want to come back is the food, and that left much to be desired. 6. Recommendation * Would you return? Likely no, this was a one and done in my book. Unless something changed and they revitalized their menu and or kitchen strategy. I never say never, but we left feeling mildly satisfied with about $100 less than we walked in with. read more

The building is like a house. It's not very apparent when you drive up for first time that you aren't walking into someone's home. The decor was nice and interesting and calming, the atmosphere of the people was less than. People were relatively rude. The staff took a very long time to come to us for an initial meet and greet and drinks. Almost left thinking that the person who sat us never even mentioned us to our waitress. Our waitress was not impressive, she disappeared for long periods of time and never checking in on us, all while the restaurant was not busy at all. And at the end of everything the food was extremely average, maybe slightly under average and not impressive for the price that was being paid for it. An extremely overhyped restaurant that does not do the reputation justice. read more

The food was pretty good. The appetizer ordered was the P.O.P. In this was potato skins, jalapeño poppers amd onion rings. We absolutely enjoyed this. For our main food was the New York steak and shrimp with mozzarella garlic mushrooms which was really good. We asked for a medium cook on it and it was more on the rare side. The shrimp was cooked very well and seasoned nicely. Also ordered was shrimp Alfredo. The sauce was nice and not too thin, the shrimp was still a good size and nice to bite into. Then ordered was the seafood platter. The crab cake was nice, the clams, shrimps and fish was nicely cooked and seasoned. Our waitress was very nice. The atmosphere felt very homey. Run here! I loved every dang thing about this place and am already counting the days until we get back. It takes awhile to get here off of I-71 so plan accordingly. There is a good amount of parking. It had recently snowed a good amount and the long driveway was not plowed. I was thankful for the 4-wheel drive snow mode on my SUV. Walking in was nostalgic. The place has a great vibe. We sat by a window and could see the water and the bridge. The salad bar was awesome with lots of options. Dressings were good. Bread was boring but oh well. Had an old fashioned and it was a little sweet but a nice pour. Prime rib was so good. Cooked perfectly. Great flavor and so tender. The horseradish cream sauce was bomb and also spicy. Baked potato was nice and salty. Shrimp was also good. Our server did a great job and was attentive. Prices were so reasonable. Loved it. read more

Server was very efficient and polite - a true professional. Ordered bottled beer, no glass was offered, but we noticed a counter full of dirty glasses waiting to be washed so maybe there weren't any? I ordered the shrimp trio. Butterflied shrimp was an IQF product with some kind of (surprise!) cheese or sauce under the breading. Would not recommend. The grilled shrimp was decent but overpowered by the bottled smoke seasoning. Shrimp scampi was probably the best of the 3, even with the excessive jarred garlic. Baked potato was delightfully old-school. Plenty of margarine and sour cream. Salad bar didn't offer much in the way of lettuces. Just very pale, bordering on brown, iceberg. Bathroom was dirty. Not like recently dirty, more like years of built up grime on the baseboards and behind the toilet. Pros: great service, nice views. Been going to the spillway for over 20 years prices have skyrocketed which is understandable ,but the size of the steaks has gone downhill and the quality for sure. Was there tonight with 8 people service was horrible my steak sat on the service window forever, she blamed the kitchen, she served 3 0f our meals then moved on serving other tables. Then she moved on to the rest of our meals, by now cold an dry as hell. My son in laws filet madellians were 2 little bites for $33 he was not happy. She did take my $33 steak off because I said something.Love the country feel but this is happening to much lately we are going to rethink dinner options, this place has gone to shit. read more

Despite being off the beaten track, this place has great seafood and steaks and a nice salad bar, with AMAZING butter!! Trust me. Get the butter Portions are big, prices are small. They don't take reservations so don't try. Either show up at 5 or expect to wait. The service is very good/great. But they're not a corporate trained perfect force. Step back to 1980 for a classic steakhouse setting. The sights and flavors you are about to experience are directly from 1980. Foil wrapped baked potatoes, steak temp sticks served in the steak, and a small but mighty salad bar. There were only 2 servers on and they kicked ass. We were so happy to try this place but unfortunately our steaks were worst steak we've ever had, old and tough steaks. We ordered ribeyes, mine was not a ribeye, i really don't know what it was, so tough could not be cut with a steak knife, so bad server noticed, my husband's ribeye was tiny and more like chopped steak. So unfortunately this steakhouse was a fail for us. First - let's get the couple of negatives out of the way...... 1. Smaller place, so wait times can be long. 2. Parking lot is small, so kinda have to make your own spot when busy. Plowed snow doesn't help. And that's it for the neagtives. A nice country ride to get there. Rustic farm type setting. Throw back restaurant with a small bar. Known for their steaks, neither the wife or I tried them. Instead, my wife had the Salmon and I had the Ribs and Shrimp combo. All meals include the salad bar! Not many places have a salad bar anymore so this was great! Well stocked and fresh. There was one review raving about the butter on the bar for the bread. I'm still trying to figure that out as it was just soft butter. Salad bar could be visited as many times as you want. The red beets were delicious! Our entrees were cooked well and tasted great. They say they make there own BBQ sauce, nothing exceptional to talk about the BBQ sauce, but good. We were too full for desserts. Service is very good. Place is clean. DId not venture to the restrooms as heard they are very small as you might expect with an older building. Prices for the meals were VERY reasonable! This is definitley a different restaurant to try when you tire of the chains and same old, same old. Cramped dining room and not handicapable friendly at all. Despite its boasts of scenic view, my mother and I were seated at a corner table with no view and too dark to read menu. We asked to move to a different table but were told they were holding them for large party walking because they were not taking reservations. Those tables sat empty the whole time. Our server seemed preoccupied doing her end of shift work. I had to go up to get silverware myself. Our drinks consistently ran empty. I had to actually stand up to leave before she brought the check. Finally, the restrooms were the cherry on top. Men's room accommodates one but had no lock. This is typical of any given night of the week, not just weekends. The service is great!!! Plenty of wait staff for the tables. They have the absolute nicest salad bar in the area. It is super fresh and has a lot to choose from on it. Do you want a view? Get there early and ask to sit by the windows. You will get a gorgeous view of the falls. No matter what this is a must try. I enjoyed my night. The food was really good. I did have to send my steak back, it was way under cooked from what I asked for. But second round was cooked perfect and tasted great. The food was good - salmon was perfectly cooked. Salad bar was fresh but limited. I wish I could report on more foods but I got the salad bar and everyone else got the salmon! We waited for 90 minutes but later in the evening the crowds die down some. So expect a wait. BTW - It was extremely cold in the restaurant but it was the first cold day in a while so they probably hadn't turned on the heater. Rude staff who did not honor our reservation. Had reservation for 12 at 7:00 and finally gave up after an hour wait. Kept saying they had room for 10 but not 12.
