    Prime Rib
    Diane W.

My husband and I got invited here on a last minute whim. You have to make a reservation. The place is small and located inside Miami Valley Gaming. We went for their Thursday Prime Rib special for $29.99. My husband got the special. He said it was ok...chewy. I got the pork chop with rum apple butter sauce. Our friends got the special and the meatloaf wellington. Both said they were ok, but nothing special. We also got wedge salads and one tried the french onion soup. My friend said the soup was good. It was a good portion also. None of us really loved it and we thought it was pricey. Pork Chop meal was $38, Salad was additional charge. Their steaks are market price (which ranged from $60-$90).

    Birthday dinner!

What a fantastic way to end my birthday celebration. My parents wanted to do a dinner for me, and my mom had a $100 voucher for this place. I walked in and was extremely impressed with the ambiance and feel of the restaurant. Very upscale, clean, and friendly staff. The restaurant recommends reservations. However, we didn't have one. The hostess was so sweet and accommodated my parents and me to a table and allowed us to dine without a reservation. This made me extremely happy. They were more concerned with me having a fantastic experience that they broke their policy to allow me to have a good birthday. Excellent service and I'm very appreciative. The food was amazing. I got the 16oz pork porterhouse with fries. My dad ordered the rib tower, and my mom got the steak and grits. We ordered an appetizer of the calamari and enjoyed the house moscato. The food was immaculate. The service was five stars, and the restaurant is beautiful. I would've given five stars, but my mom had to send back her food because it was salty. The bread for the table was also extremely salty. However, the staff removed my mom's bill because she ended up not eating anything after taking one bite. They offered her a dessert which she didn't eat, but she loved what I ordered. She couldn't keep her hands off my plate. Next time, she'll probably order the porterhouse. All in all, the experience was terrific. Thank you for a fantastic birthday dinner.

    Charcuterie heaven.

This restaurant is delicious. A great local night out. Burgers, short rib ravioli, prime rib sandwich, THOSE TACOS were one of the best we have all ever had. Life changing. From the black salt sprinkled on the butter, to the last gulp of Cabernet it was amazing. And our service was impeccable. We will be back again!

I called the restaurant to see if they could offer them a dessert, or if I could pay for their meal, or something. I spoke to a young girl and she said they don't do anything for that. I asked to speak to the manager because surely that can't be right. She comes back on and says there is nothing they can offer them. They don't offer a dessert, won't let me pay for anything etc. What has happened to customer service?!? 60 years is a big deal. Absolutely the worst customer service. I will not be returning to this restaurant ever again. It is the little things that make a place shine and makes people come back again and again. What once was a great place to frequent has sadly turned into a below average establishment.

I was initially reluctant because in addition to having bacon, bbq, sharp cheddar, garlic aioli & crispy onions, it includes house-made peanut butter. I had never heard of peanut butter on a burger before. I was prepared to hate it, but ended up loving it. If you get up to Lebanon, stop by the Golden Lamb and check out the Black Horse Tavern. Younwon't be disappointed. I know my wife and I will be returning.

I didn't think I would like the sauerkraut ball appetizer, but I did. The server suggested we have the salad for starters and I'm glad we did. Delicious dressing, crispy lettuce. The fried chicken though: juicy, flavorful, hot, crispy. Everything I was drooling for! Served with mashed potatoes (average, a little too thin in my opinion as a mashed potato connoisseur) and veggies. Hubs loved his short rib sandwich which and slaw. The decor fits their history as the oldest continuously operating inn in Ohio. We ate in a newly refreshed dining area that apparently was the original dining room, decorated with authentic Shaker antiques -- light, clean and airy. Lovely refinished wood floors, Shaker wooden chairs. It feels comfortable and real, not stuffy and old -- even though it's steeped in history. Our server was super friendly and attentive but not too much so. We parked in the big lot adjacent to the establishment. It wasn't crowded when we were there, but reservations are accepted in the more formal-ish dining room (flip flops not preferred). There is also a more casual tavern attached - apparently same menu.

But that was then and this is now, and the current hands-on owners give us a truly Italo-centric experience! It feels very European in here. All brick walls and an archway between the bar room and the dining room. Big wine rack in the dining room. The bar is also quite attractive and looks comfortable. I don't recall hearing any music but we were there at lunchtime on Sunday. Fire grilled artichokes grabbed me so we got this for an app. I admit I didn't read the description completely. The dish had seven little artichoke quarters drowning in Alfredo sauce. The artichoke was sweet and tender but all that sauce really overwhelmed it and this app is overpriced for the quantity. Later I realized we could have had them served with EVOO and parmesan which I would have much preferred. It was disappointing that the waitress didn't ask which preparation we wanted, and that the kitchen apparently did not ask her, either. Our two pasta dishes were delectable and the amount of protein was quite generous. We both loved our sauces, and the spicy Italian sausage (house made!) was out of this world. They sliced it nice and thin and there was so much, I was really in Heaven. The fettuccine and the capellini were done to perfect al dente. Our waitress did a great job and checked on us often. She was handling several tables and was constantly on the move but kept up well with all her guests. I was thrilled to see Limoncello cake on the dessert menu but a bit shocked at the high price. Of course it is possible you get a huge slice and I will definitely research this further next time! I plan on coming back, and soon.

We were in town for an event and were ready for dinner far earlier than our reservation but the hostess got us in no problem. Our server, David, was terrific. He is the only server who has ever convinced me that ordering Wagyu was worth the money. He sold us on the 14oz Australian Wagyu which in his words "was the best steak he had ever eaten" and after having it, I couldn't agree more. The steak was perfectly cooked, beautifully plated since we shared, and it melted in your mouth. The char on the outside was ridiculous in the best way. We also had oysters on the half shell broiled with Cajun butter, lobster Mac n cheese, and corn brûlée. All of it was delicious. I wish we would have ordered the bread with candlestick butter, it looked amazing. Totally worth the money, will make a drive from Columbus just to have that steak again.

The space itself has an eclectic, upscale vibe that adds to the overall experience. The food backed it up. We had the Japanese crab cake, grilled oysters, Baby Wedge (not so baby), and split the 16oz Wagyu ribeye with truffle butter. Sides were mushrooms and the potato mille-feuille -- that potato is a must-order. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and incredibly tender, and the crab cake was packed with large chunks of crab. The oysters were good, but everything else really stood out. Dessert was an espresso crème brûlée and finished the meal exactly how you'd want. Service was excellent. David took great care of us -- knew the menu, made good recommendations, and kept things moving without ever feeling rushed. The place was absolutely spotless -- from the dining room to the smallest details. Around $400 for two all in, and worth it for a special night out.

It had a very large menu of various items ranging from burgers to wings, bar food and a lot more. We started with an appetizer of sauerkraut balls which was a ball of sauerkraut, cream cheese, sausage which was fried and served with a mustard dipping sauce. It was really sauerkraut forward in the flavour but good all the same. For my main course I of course went for wings. I got traditional bone in with 2 flavours one being bbq and the other being what they called "Destroyer". The bbq was a basic sweet bbq with some smokey flavour and was quite good (and extremely sticky and messy which most good wings are). I liked the destroyer even more as it's their hottest wing flavour and while it did bring the heat it also brought plenty of awesome flavour too. The wings were pretty big and perfectly cooked as well. For dessert we had bread pudding which was served with ice cream and was super tasty. The restaurant was beautiful and since it was a nice day outside we sat out on the porch for our lunch. The service was top notch as well. This was an awesome lunch experience and I definitely intend to make the trek to come back here.
