The bartender named, Juan, was especially rude to me and my 15 friends I brought in for my birthday. I visited Spilt Milk on June 14, 2025 at 7:30pm.i went to order a round of drinks. When I saw a specialty cocktail being made next to me, I asked what it was. I politely said, excuse me, "May we please have two of those instead of two vodka sodas please?" He didn't acknowledge us. Love this patio and it's paying dividends with the new requirements to social distance. Lots of custom delish cocktails running about $13 ea. Clean bathrooms, masked employees, comfortable tables, and digital menus. We didn't have the food this time but the neighbors order looked pretty good and it came out with disposable containers. The logan squares was overly sweet, iced down, and could barely taste the bourbon. The espresso martini was unbalanced, mostly coffee liqueur, and didn't taste like it had any espresso in it. I'm obsessed with every detail of this place. The decor inside & out, the bartenders, the music, the ambiance, but dude...THE COCKTAILS. I got the woo woo juice & it may be the best cocktail I've ever had. I wanted to try something else but I ended up just getting a second one instead because it was so yummy. Very complex, perfect amount of sweetness with balanced flavors, & so pretty! Later my partner ordered the frozen coffee drink (don't remember the name) & it was super delicious too. The bartenders were so cool & nice, & they made us feel very comfortable there. I also loved the playlist. They also have an adorable little photobooth tucked away in a corner that we almost missed! Was formerly my favorite spot in chicago. Had a very strange interaction in which a bartender identified my bills as "fake" and basically took 200 dollars from me and wouldn't return them. After some complaining and being sure my money was real. They took the bills to the back, identified them as real and returned them to me. It was just strange how adamant they were my money was fake only to return my money to me. It was odd and frustrating and a bit embarrassing. Wont be returning. read more

Oh my god. I used to go to this place a lot. Pretty much every Saturday at night I used to go to here, and sometimes even on Fridays. They used to have a drink called Chestnut that it was divas. I took a break and started visiting other bars, but yesterday I decided to go back to split milk. The male bartender Had no customer service skills. The drink was $15 and it was only worth $.50. It was pure juice and syrup. They put so much syrup that 12 hours later, even though brush my teeth twice, I still cant get rid of the stain feeling on my teeth. The whole class was full of ice and two drinks that we tried they were both horrible. They changed their menu for bad. It was a very disappointing experience to say the least. They need a different menu, different bartenders, and better drinks. I feel like I went to cheap bad Starbucks instead of a bar. read more

I almost think it's not really fair to review a business during these times. I recognize all businesses are struggling and trying to find a way to keep alive. I applaud all their efforts and I will continue to support those who keep at it. Spilt Milk is one of those and I'm glad they're here. First of all, they do a fantastic job of adhering to all the protocols and their servers are masked and keep the appropriate distance. The outdoor patio is fabulous with tables arranged perfectly. It is secluded and fenced and you feel like you're in a private space away from traffic and other distractions. Cocktails are pretty good although I admit I didn't order appropriately so mine was just ok. My wife's was great and I did have a few sips. Food service is where they fall way down but I get it. They need it to stay open but the tacos were lackluster and probably the smallest I've ever been served anywhere. Sure, they're not expensive but if you're looking to complement a few drinks with some tacos, this may not meet your expectations. I'd say come here for the patio. It's first come, first serve so plan accordingly. Grab a drink with a friend before you move on. read more

It looks like a plain, possibly abandoned (due to having no windows) building from the outside - though yesterday they were painting some murals outside so I imagine it will be looking cool in no time. Right on the corner of California & Fullerton, it's uber convenient for my friends and I. They have a decent beer list - 6 on tap, 2 of which I hadn't ever had before - 15 cans/bottles including some swill like Lonestar & Schlitz for $4 a pop, I hadn't had 3 on the bottle list. They have some fun cocktails that are really well executed! I was able to try the Daily Dose ($9) with pink lemonade as a staple ingredient and it truly tasted delicious. We also tried the Pineapple Soft Serve ($9) that was a frozen cocktail, of course, sprinkled with cinnamon - very tasty! We all know by now that I'm a beer chick so I had a Moody Tongue Chocolate Caramel Churro beer which was amazeballs and a tasty farmhouse Le Tub from Whiner - both ran me $6 which I didn't find bad at all. Spilt Milk has dark wood throughout, lighting is incredibly dim, good mix of music that fits the atmosphere, non-invasive bartenders who are also on top of things & pleasant - really what more could you want in a slightly upscale local bar?! This would be a great date spot with belly-up bar seating and also some comfortable semi-booth seating. We really liked the chill vibe here, friendly service, tasty drinks and not overly extravagant prices - overall a great place for a relaxed evening with liqs. read more

Even though they open at 4 pm, I was still mildly surprised when we walked in at 4:30 and there were only 2 other couples inside. Not that we were complaining, but it was sunny so I anticipated people to be out and about and to take advantage of their outdoor patio. Loved how we were greeted by arctic air upon walking in as it was a sweltering afternoon.. just a note for people like me who hate feeling hot :) They have a good mix of cocktails and I noticed that they're all on the fruity side; almost every single cocktail incorporates fresh fruit, juice, liqueur or fruit-infused alcohol. Fruity cocktails are my go-to so it was a definite win for me. If they're not your cup of tea, fret not, they regularly update their cocktail list. Ordered the Mango Jerry and it was nice and strong. Their back patio was charming and I'm glad that they decided to have it fully barricaded because that corner of California and Fullerton is always loud and busy. It's cozy...feels like you're in someone's backyard! Lastly, I thought it's great that they partner with different charities every month! A part of their sales each month go towards the chosen organization. This month is with Hope For The Day, which helps prevent suicide through outreach and mental health education. Thanks to one of my theater associates, I now know this place exists! She raved about this place and we met one of the guys that worked here at another venue and he told us to come on Memorial Day as they were hosting a BBQ. We came over this past Monday and of course it was a dark setting as we walked inside. I noticed there is a photo booth at the end of the bar which is very cool as well as an ATM if you need to grab cash...dont work though as the place accepts cards. Walked outside to a close to full back patio which was very awesome and lots of happy faces out there. I assumed it was due to the BBQ as well as the drinks. My first drink was a blueberry rum drink that came with the BBQ and some flower included lol and it was very damn good. My friend got the Milk Punch and she let me taste...I knew that would be my next drink as it was very good as well. I mean, I couldn't go to a place called Spilt Milk and not get the milk punch right? LOL! My friend also got the rumchata based drink and it tasted like a dessert which is good. Not the largest menu in the world but it is effective. They have beer and wine also in addition to the awesome crafted cocktails. Great spot to stop by for some drinks with friends or a date. Really cute prohibition era ambiance with booths and dim lighting on the inside. They also have a decent sized back patio which would be really nice for beautiful bright days. A large group of us went around 7pm on a Saturday and there was plenty of space for us. I have been there before later at night and it was louder and more crowded. Cocktails are tasty and really unique, especially the salad daze! Only complaint would be that they weren't very strong as we didn't really feel anything even after 2 $13 cocktails. read more

If you are looking for that Logan Square joint with the nice fancy drinks, Split Milk is the place for you! I had some predrinks at this place before meeting some of my friends down the street. I am glad I stopped by! It was so good! I started with the Mary Milk Punch which was my favorite, made with actual cubed ice cubes and had both a sweet and savory taste to it. If you are not sure what to get, I would recommend this drink. I ended with an Uncle Baccus which was really weird and kind of bitter. Still, I thought it was an interesting taste and while not my favorite, it was still a solidly made drink which I can appreciate it! The bartender was fantastic and fit the Logan Square vibe. The first time I came here was the first week I had moved to Chicago. I remember going inside this super dark bar that waking to the back to find this photo booth. I have a thing for photo booths The coolest part is you get to leave 1 out of the 2 copies you get by glueing it to the wall. Meet up with some friends here last night (or like 20 of them). It's a narrow bar with bar seats on one side and booths (raised up) on the other side. Even being a narrow bar, there's ample seating. It can get pretty dark inside, especially when they dim the lights but the vibe is awesome. There's a buzzing energy, but still pretty chill. The drinks are good and the staff is super nice and awesome. It's well run and keeps moving. Other than the bar seats and the booths across from them. They also have a high table for 6 and 2 additional booths in the back. Great for greats. There is also a $5 photo booth there, which is cool. What I drank: Regular Old Fashioned - pretty delicious Hot Toddy - fantastic; great on a cold day Glogg - delicious, runs a little sweet, but very nice and enjoyable; great on a cold day. Lovely dark interior that feels like I've been transported back in time. I absolutely adore such spaces and Spilt Milk feels right at home in Logan Square. The oil dripping lamp is pretty trippy and funny enough one of the bar crawlers mentioned his parents had a similar lamp at home back in the 70s. The backyard patio was a nice contrast. Picnic benches and covered trellis with hanging plants was a pleasant surprise hiding in the rear of the bar. Relaxed, quiet and good seating for a large group. Pretty good cocktail options and some of them also support a different charity. Most of the drinks were pretty well balanced, neither falling in the too tart, too sweet or too spirit forward, although having sipped a couple of drinks, I didn't find anything that I absolutely loved either. i am surprised I have not seen a lot of buzz about this place. Maybe I should be happy about it before it gets too popular. The menu is short but there is a dealer's choice where the bartenders concoct some magic potions of their own. The night we went, there was buttered rum on the menu but as i didn't want rum, so the bartender made a super hot toddy which was perfect for the cold weather. Had high hopes when I walked in but the drinks left so much to be desired. We tried three different cocktails but none of us were terribly impressed. I love a good whiskey- or bourbon- based cocktail and went for the Sarsaparilla Zazerac which didn't really leave a good aftertaste in my mouth, maybe it was too much sarsaparilla but it definitely didn't have the good bourbon flavor for which I was hoping. I opted for that drink because my friend went for the Some Pig which I would've thought would've been the other whiskey-forward drink but nothing about the cocktail elevated the whiskey, it just tasted like some overly sweetened whiskey due to the apple brandy. It didn't combine well we thought. The rest of the menu (including the third drink we tried) seemed overly sweet or fruit heavy. On Friday night 5pm, first date, nerves showing, so I brought my service dog, no vest (due to not fitting him) but Dog ID Card, Tag, and my medical card with condition. Denied entry to emporium, emporium puppy pop up and revolution brewing because of not having a dog vest. After sitting down at the bar I was given a menu for both the Feller & a cocktail menu from the bar. Unbeknownst to me after placing my order for food I was given a pager & told to walk around a corner to obtain my food. Ok, odd. Weirdness aside prior to my visit here I read a great article about how these were "elevated" chicken nuggets & above average bar food altogether. While I'm not ready to give them the worst bar food moniker I was still underwhelmed by the product. Did the nuggets have a handmade aspect to them, yes they sure did but unfortunately that's where my compliments end. Excellent place to grab an after dinner drink. I highly recommend the Frozen Coffee made with Tullamore Dew whiskey, Galliano Ristretto coffee liqueur and cold brew coffee. So. Delicious. I also liked the atmosphere. The back bar, bar coolers and bar top are all original to the building, which is always neat to see. The service was fine as well. If you are a frequenter of cocktail bars, upon walking in, it is unlikely you will notice anything you haven't seen before. Service was a tad pretentious and not with good reason (as if there is ever a good reason for pretentiousness). My brother got the Madras Margarita, my friend the Concord Grape Julep, and I got the Sarsaparilla Sazerac. The drinks were decent, but not all that memorable. I can't say that I would never return. It didn't leave that poor an impression. I just know I won't be thinking of this place when wanting to grab a good drink, in a nice atmosphere, with friendly service. read more

We often come here for the amazing food pop up, but on this day I was picking up carry out with my brother. We're waiting for our food on a busier than normal night (out of the way by the back door) when a guy came up to us very aggressively demanding to see our IDs. (I'm 31 and my brother is 25) he was extremely hostile, yelling and accusatory out of nowhere. My brother is visibly on the spectrum and I assume this is because he didn't want him in his bar. It was a busy place and not a single person was being asked for ID but us. We were not drinking, we are of age and just picking up carry out. I was flooded not knowing how to explain he has downs but is older without making my brother feel publicly shamed since this guys yelling drew attention. This was blatant ABLEST behavior.
