I've been a patient of Dr. Spindel's for a number of years, and couldn't be happier with the professionalism of the doctor and his staff, in both the Londonderry and Derry offices. I was diagnosed with high eye pressure (precursor to glaucoma) when I was in my 20s, and had been 'watching' it for years. In my 40s, the pressure was creeping up and with a family history of glaucoma, Dr. S recommended a laser procedure to reduce the pressure. I had that painless procedure done 3 years ago in the office, with NO adverse affects, just much improved pressure readings, meaning I'm the only one in my family that doesn't use very expensive and inconvenient glaucoma drops. Dr. Spindel's offices use the latest in diagnostic equipment. His staff is well trained and pleasant. The desk manager had to be the rudest person I have ever had the chance to meet. Mikayla Brown. She has zero patience and the bed side manner of a mean girl. I won't be going here any longer. I've been a Patient for well over 25 years. The mean girl mentality you have going makes it very uncomfortable. She gets annoyed just having to do her job. She'll purposely treat you like rudely, make you look stupid while she's nice as pie to others. I've seen her do it to not only myself. It's sorta mental. I did speak to the girl who took me in the back and she was well aware of her behavior as well. She apologized to me and was very calming. I also loved all the dr's and enjoyed my time with Dr Nguyen since my last Dr left. It's disheartening for me to leave the office, but that's how badly I felt after the treatment of this angry child. It took 3 calls to the billing department and one to my insurance company to find out why. At this late juncture, insurance is unlikely to pay but assures me I am not liable for the amount. I have been going to Spindel Eye Associates for the past 20 years. My experience has been good except a problem with the optical shop some 10 or 12 years ago. At that point I stopped using their optical shop, I only had my vision checked there for the past 10 to 12 years. On 10/11/23 I had an appointment to see Dr Ramseys at 1:35pm, I arrived at 1:20 as I like to arrive before my scheduled appointment and I was still waiting at 2:45 to see Dr Ramseys. I told them this wait is rediculous and they cancelled my appt at 2:49. They said I should have been told I would have an outrageous wait when I first booked the apointment to see Dr Ramseys, I was not! My time is as important to me as Dr Ramseys time is to him and I will not be jerked around just so they can overbook Dr Ramseys time, totally unacceptable! Spindel Eye Associates is not the only game in town & I will be changing eye doctors to another provider. I highly recommend against going to Spindel Eye Associates as it seems they place no value whatsoever on your time. As a result of this entire debacle I had to rush home in order to get some juice as my blood sugar was getting dangerously low. I expect much better from any and all medical professionals. This was my first appointment here after dealing with some deceptive billing practices at another office a few years back, so needless to say I was skeptical. Turns out, there was no need, this place is fantastic. No wait, friendly staff from check in all the way to the doctor. I went to this eye place because it was recommended by VSP. The eye exam was fine. But they really do not seem to be in the business of eye exams and seem more in the glass selling business. I say this because when I priced the glasses they had for sale they were pretty dang pricey, so I asked for my prescription in order to shop around. When trying to order glasses online, I realized that the prescription didn't include the PD measurement. I stopped by their clinic to ask for this and was told that part of the prescription was only taken if ordering glasses from them. So now I have to self measure rather than rely on the prescription that my insurance paid for. They could have provided better customer service by helping me, but I suspect that level of service is only available if ordering eyewear from them. read more

I used to see a different ophthalmologist in NH, who didn't have any fancy equipment. So when I started seeing the docs at Spindel Eye I was blown away at how high tech everything was. The tech who did my pre-appointment screening (before the doc came in) was very nice and thorough. The doctor himself was professional, thorough, and answered all of my questions. I took one star off due to the fact that I needed to request the equipment be cleaned. I went to press my face against one of the machines and saw visible makeup and sweat stains. I just wanted contact lenses to help with my diminished vision, instead of glasses, so I thought an expert who advertised being that would help me select the right lenses. Spindel Eye took 3 long days to answer an appointment request on their site, which other companies would have answered in 24 hours. They did not even bother to call, just emailed. Then only provides a rejection with a lame reason, which no other eye specialist would have given, especially given the urgency, which I made very clear from the start, but did not seem to matter to Spindel Eye people. My question was not even handled by a real doctor, but only a tech.. These guys do not seem to care about patients. The technicians and doctor seemed professional, two girls at the front desk where v nice. But when i inquired what would be the approx cost for the entire process they wouldn't give me a approx answer. I have not had my eyes checked in thirty years so i had no idea what to expect, when i finally was at the point to look at glasses the unprofessional salesman showed the true colors of the entire establishment . Seeing that all that i wanted was prescription readers i thought approx $400.00 was ridiculous , ive been in sales for thirty years and saw him coming , not even a good sales pitch, seemed very weak and untrained. Made me feel like i wasted his time. Introduced himself but after i told him i would have to think about it because i am disabled on a fixed income he took the prescription and went to the front desk and said bill him for a exam and nothing else not even a goodbye " very "rude" and unprofessional. As of yet i have not received a copy of my prescription which i am supposed to receive. I would not recommend them for anything, two stars for the pretty face behind the front deck zero for the business, Spindel/mvc hopefully you will retrain your staff .please read this law by the FTC What are my rights under the FTC's Eyeglass and Contact Lens Rules? If you get a fitting for glasses or contact lenses, the eye doctor must give you a copy of your prescription - whether you ask for it or not. It's the law. The doctor can't require you to pay an extra fee, buy eyeglasses or contact lenses, or sign a waiver or form. read more

Former patient, will not go back. I was never impressed with my care or interactions with the front desk but I kept going back because the location was convenient enough. As an established patient I called to try to schedule my annual eye exam and when I said I have new insurance because I started a new job last week they wouldn't even let me schedule an appointment no matter how far out because I couldn't give them my full insurance information over the phone. read more

Brought my son in for contact lens fitting. The tech who was supposed to "teach" him to put in /take out his contacts was not very patient and frankly rude.The DR and tech had no interest in anything but getting rid of us as quickly as possible when my son had difficulty. I would imaging that is fairly common for new, young contact patients to have trouble at first. He needed patience and kindness. Instead, she was flustered and basically done dealing with him in only 15 mins. My son wanted to try again, and we ended up working with Barry in the optical shop, who spent a great deal of time with him- much more than we planned. He was great- patient, helpful and kind!!! I was at the office in Derry and was not comfortable with the change of video in the waiting room from info videos to the racist and homophobic Fox News. I asked about changing it to something innocuous, like NECN (which they have in the back waiting room). Instead of a polite response, I was called by a doctor there and berated over the phone for trying to force my political views on them and that I needed to just deal with it. I cannot imagine a business, especially a doctor's office, making such an effort to attack a patient. Absolutely disgusting. I will not be going back to Derry again. read more

I rarely write a review but feel compelled to write one regarding Spindel Eye Associates. I expect exceptional service and definitely received that from Spindel Eye Associates. I recently had cataract surgery and the result is outstanding. When I was told that I had cataracts and would need to have them removed I was a bit surprised and knew nothing about what was involved or what my options were. Dr. Wood explained everything very thoroughly. I then did a fair amount of research about cataract surgery. I determined that I wanted multifocal lenses, permitting me to see at all distances without needing glasses. Having worn glasses for over fifty years, the concept of not needing to wear them was very appealing. During the extensive consultation appointment Dr. Spindel explained that, since I had LASIK surgery 15 years ago, he wanted to review my records from the LASIK surgery to determine if multifocal lenses would be appropriate for me. The professionalism through the entire process was commendable. Dr. Spindel was able to put multifocal lens in both eyes and I am extremely satisfied. During the process, which entails several appointments, I have had contact with many different employees in both the Derry and Londonderry offices. I have been treated with courtesy and respect by every employee I have encountered. Every question I have asked has been thoroughly answered. I can, without reservation, recommend Spindel Eye Associates to anyone. read more

"I Once Was Blind But Now I See" I've had lousy vision since birth and have worn glasses for 55+ years. The astigmatism in both eyes was terrible to say the least. With progressive lenses I was 20/40 at the very best. I was fortunate and developed cataracts in both eyes. Yes, I said I was fortunate. I needed surgery as I was legally blind. I was a hazard driving at night to others and myself. I've been a loyal patient of Dr. Spindel for years and would not have considered anyone else to perform cataract surgery. I opted for the upgraded lenses to address the astigmatism and I am so glad I did. My vision is now 20/20 in each eye. I am seeing colors that I have never seen. I am even able to read without magnification. Night driving is no longer an issue with being blinded by on-coming vehicle lights. Dr. Spindel performed both surgeries painlessly. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Spindel to all who have vision issues. He is an excellent Ophthalmologist with a caring and compassionate heart. He has earned my trust and respect.
