I was sent to SpineScottsdale by my spine Dr. Mark Rubin. I am a new patient of Dr. Rubin and have been very happy with him so I was confident that he was sending me to a good place. I've been complaining that I have been walking bent over and I already have a spinal implant, a metal plate and 4 rods in my fused spine. I've been going to physical therapy twice a week and can't say enough about Dr. Shane and the staff at SpineScottsdale. They are caring, understanding really made me feel better! Want to share a positive review for a Physical Therapist I've been seeing for osteoporosis. Dr Sullivan from SpineScottsdale offers a class a few times a year and incorporates teaching into physical therapy sessions. I found the class to be beneficial and educational. He references sources for his information, which I appreciate. Dr. Sullivan is certified in treating and educating about osteoporosis. I was referred to him by a local endocrinologist. I normally don't write reviews of professional practices, but I was in a difficult place when I first came here. You see, I couldn't move my neck and I was screaming with pain which modern drugs could only muffle, but not fix. And my surgeon? He was sharpening his knives so to speak. I was recommended to Shane from my amazing acupuncturist, Dr. Lloyd Wright. Birds of a feather they say. Absolutely. Shane was informative, taught me what was wrong and how I can fix it and had a routine that got me 90% better in 5-6 sessions. I started with Shane at Spine Scottsdale just before I had back surgery. I wanted to be familiar with the practice as I intended to have followup care with them. The office is clean and welcoming and not overcrowded. I have had individual attention every time I have been for therapy. My previous experiences were in large rooms with multiple therapists and here it is so far superior. I am treated with respect as an individual, and my therapy is suited to my individual needs and not some "formula exercises." The conversations lately have revolved around sports and there is friendly banter about teams and everyone is included. I am thrilled to be treated so well and I am making great progress even 10 days post surgery. Shane is conservative and careful, which I so appreciate after suffering for 6 months with sciatic pain. Front desk staff likes to help without a smile... They are the first contact with this establishment. A little smile would be nice. They're all young and just plain inexperience. Scheduling staff is very efficient and very helpful, they work with you and give you all the info needed. The doctors and PA's are awesome! They know what they're talking about and when asked for a clearer, in layman's terms explanation, they take the time to explain what the problem is and how they are planning to resolve the problem. Shane came up with the right diagnosis the first time with an unusual case of upper-arm pain, and the treatment has lasted ever since. Then a "common" case of lower back pain provided an additional challenge when it wasn't getting better fast enough, so he dipped into his knowledge and got me on a better path... I'm looking forward to golfing again. His able staff is always friendly, patient, and helpful with all that goes on in the busy office. I just had the worst experience here. I can always tell by the chairs in a lobby is the place will be any good. FAIL!! I did miss an appointment with them yesterday. I was referred here by a pain doctor. I called today to talk to the physical therapist about what he can do because I've had such bad luck with therapy thats connected with the healthcare system. First off I was on the phone with the physical therapist for about 10 minutes earlier today talking about my neck pain. I decided to make an appointment to come in later in the day. I get there they charged me $40 copay right off the bat and I used my debit card. Then I waited for about 25minutes before I even saw Shane. When I saw Shane he said to me he couldn't see me because the referral stated back pain, not neck pain. I am experiencing both back and neck pain and right now the neck pain is worse. Either ways. It's connected. I am also a licensed massage therapist. I'm not sure what the hell these doctors are learning in school but it seems it doesn't matter because they've all taken a vow to the crappy health care system instead of their patients. What a waste of a medical degree to do all of that and know what you know. then to get out of school and not actually be able to follow through with what you know because you are tied and bound to a healthcare systems protocol wording and pretty much alot of bull$hit It doesn't take a genius or a medical degree to know that the neck and back (spine) is all connected. "The hip bone's connected to the back bone The back bone's connected to the neck bone, The neck bone's connected to the head bone, Now shake dem skeleton bones!" Either way he wouldn't budge on his policies he's bound to by the healthcare system. I asked him when I was leaving his place straight to his face. "You do know this as a doctor that they are all connected. The neck and back?" His place is called SpineScottsdale ?!?! wtf? He literally turned around and walked away. So on top of this now I have to wait 5 business days for my refund they robbed from me practicing shady business that doesn't concern patients. It's all about the money and the healthcare system for this guy Shane. I found Shane lacking compassion. He's too hung up on policies and procedures he's been dictated to by the system he's caught up in. I'd like to have a doctor who works for the patient and helping them no matter what. if you are good at your job insurance shouldn't get in the way of you helping people as I know many practitioners that help those without insurance or weird wording on a referral. If he cared he would of done something to fix it instead he shut the door on me within a couple hours of him telling me he could help me. I'd like to find a doctor that works and cares for the patient more than then healthcare system. That's enough proof to me you are in it for the money and your patients are just dollar signs. Due to an automobile accident, I injured my right arm/shoulder pretty badly and developed frozen shoulder because of it. I was referred to SpineScottsdale, (which is a family run business) by my physician. Shane, the owner, was incredibly knowledgeable. He helped to get my rotation back in my arm with a program that he designed specifically for me and my limitations. He also gave me exercises to do at home, which helped immensely. He has a wicked sense of humor, which eased the pain and my fears. He and his wife (who also works there) are two of the nicest people; sooo family oriented!! I have good experiences before bit this place they were horrible no experience at all his staff no knowledge of what to do.. Young Staff, students didn't know how to even give me ultrasound correctly. Would never recommend to anyone. This Therapy also charges $5.00 for patient tens unit pads which completely wrong everything should be fully covered Beware Facility machines are out of date. benches are too hard to lay down. Two first visits unpleasant Shane tries to handle multi-people at one time. I feel you should get the full hour coming to you not 45minutes to many faults in the place. read more

This is my second referral to SpineScottsdale but for two different problems. The first time it was because of a pulled muscle in my neck. Shane and his staff were great. I went to them for about 6 to eight visits and by the time Icompleted my visits I was pain free. Recently I was referred to Shane for a pinched nerve in my back. He and his staff are the greatest and my back and leg feel great. I was referred to SpineScottsdale by my neurologist for chronic head and neck pain. The staff (Emily, Gina and Brittany) are very friendly and I was always taken in for my appointments on time. I am writing this update to reflect my latest experience at Scottsdale Spine. My last treatment was December 19th. and as usual I had less pain after the session. When I woke up on December 22nd. I was amazed that I was able to walk and move with almost zero discomfort. It is now 14 days later and I feel virtually pain free. I must say I am delighted with my situation and believe there would never have been such an improvement without the help from Scottsdale Spine. I am continuing to do the exercises that I learned during my therapy sessions. Hopefully I will not have any setbacks regarding my back issues, however if I do I will certainly return to Scottsdale Spine for more therapy.
