I am in the process of recovering from calcaneal reconstruction surgery that placed two screws in my heel, as well as a major repair to two tendons in my right foot. A brutal surgery although done to perfection my surgeon, Dr. Cameron Barr. After months of inactivity, when the time came for physical therapy, Dr. Barr referred me to a company called Innis, where I was lucky enough to draw Julie as my therapist. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Innis closed mid-therapy and Julie moved on to Physiofixx. I, obviously decided to follow her and actually "lucked out" in that the the business owned by Dr. Sandra Daniel was another step up in my therapy. Dr. Daniel was welcoming and 1000% percent concerned with continuing my therapy in a manner that would ensure I did not regress in any way, and that my progress continued. During my initial session she personally took the time to welcome me, explain her philosophy and ensure I knew that she and Julie would do everything in their power to help me be successful in my recovery. A I stated previously, her offices are modern, beautiful, serene and following every step to ensure patients feel and are, in fact, secure in the face of the pandemic. As to Julie, there are not words to really capture how effective she has been in providing the therapy needed to guarantee a successful recovery. From my first session, her knowledge and approach has been in lock step with the philosophy of my surgeon -- despite the fact that I know she is crafting my therapy without day-to-day contact with my surgeon. In the same way my surgeon knew what was needed medically, Julie knows what is needed therapeutically. She has provided a documented, well-explained and easily self-guided roadmap to keep me moving from one goal to the next in between our sessions. I am sure my recovery is progressing smoothly and quickly in no small part due to her care, which is always professional, personable, compassionate and, even through the mask, I know provided with a smile. Wish there were more stars to provide Julie and Physiofixx. If you are in need, set up an appointment or make sure you physician or surgeon provides you with a referral to Julie Marazzo and Dr. Daniel's Physiofixx. You will be glad you did. P.S. It's an upbeat, cheerful atmosphere. I was assigned (mainly) to Charles, who listened carefully to me, figured out what exercises would help the two problems I came in with, then came up with a good plan I could also do at home. Occasionally, due to scheduling, I had other therapists who were also excellent. The therapy assistants were also very knowledgeable about my exercise plan and very helpful. I'm not always a huge fan of apps, but I really like Rehab United/ Keet Health's exercise app, which lists all my exercises, along with short videos of each one so I can see if I'm doing them properly at home. I started Physical Therapy at PRN La Mesa in March, because after spinal cord surgery last year,…read morethe finger tips in my right hand were completely numb with no tactile sensation. The Neurosurgeon wanted to do more surgery to try and relive the symptoms. A nerve conductive study gave a diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel. I asked for a referral to PT before considering another surgery. At 74, surgery risks increase. My Physical therapist was Pablo Pelayo. After my initial interview, we both agreed that my symptoms were not typical of Carpal Tunnel. After 5 visits, I was elated to find I was getting sensation back in my fingers. This was HUGE!!. After more than a year I finally got sensation back, without surgery. Pablo's approach was phenomenal.We continued to work for a total of 16 visits. Now I have 75-80% feeling and tactile sensation back. I could not be more appreciative or grateful for having the full use of my right hand again. You are greeted by a very nice receptionist who seems like she never has a bad day! Backtracking slightly, this is part of a chain so you go through a system to get your appointment. The app is a little clumsy to use in the beginning. Like most healthcare these days you feel like a number. But once you get in the very capable hands of your physical therapist (mine was Norma) you're given a great assessment. In fact Norma really impressed me as she paid great attention to detail, was on top of everything going on around her and balanced multiple clients along with her technician. She never missed a beat! She even brings the fun with themed activities. It seems like a tight knit family. I have a feeling the technician who worked with me after Norma may have been in training as the same attention to detail was not quite maintained. When I first arrived at her practice, I was in such severe pain that I was walking with a cane. Over time, she has provided me with valuable information, exercises, and support in addition to treatments that alleviate the pain. After a course of treatment, taking her advice and doing my exercises, I'm able to walk 4 miles a day on my treadmill! I now return to her whenever I feel as if I need a 'tune up". Whenever I do contact Beth's office, her assistant Sheri bends over backwards to work me into the schedule.
