Waited 6+ months and had to do all the bitch work for lack of a better term, to get the referral processed and an appointment scheduled. No one would help this frustrating process along to get my 6ft 16 year old in. He has a bad back most likely from the growth spurt. Finally attended 1 session. Scheduled more after a grueling additional 4+ months of waiting for "approval to be processed" As for the appointments moving forward they would not answer phone to reschedule, would not return calls. I showed up 10 mins late due to work keeping me late, tried to call to let them know I was running late. No answer. Then banned my son from getting therapy at their facility stating their notes say I was 20 & 30 mins late which is absolutely not true. No notification or heads up that that could happen prior so that I could make certain that he not be late. I run a family owned/ran business and this is my unfortunate reality that I can be late since we are short staffed (there is no one to cover me). Very unprofessional of this facility to not keep the patients informed of this policy to avoid from being affected by it. Now my innocent son is not welcome back when he's in pain and I have to start the whole process over again to get him seen somewhere else. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. This staff is lazy and unprofessional. My insurance insisted I take him here because it's the only place that my insurance covers in my area. read more

I was sent by my pc to help work on issues with my hips. I have done pt before at another location, but Total takes it to a whole new level! The staff is always upbeat and makes you look forward to each visit! Dr. Laura is very thorough in working with the problem areas and making sure the exercises are at the right levels. Danny, Darla, Justin and the rest of the assistants are there every step, making sure the exercises are not too hard while having the resistance needed as well as ensuring you have proper form. The front ladies (sorry don't know their names) are all extremely helpful with scheduling as well as very friendly. I came here to recover from a herniated disc in my neck with nerve pain. My physical therapist Dr. Laura is the best! She always asks my pain level before starting and if something hurts or is tender she gives me stretches and work outs tailored to help relieve the pain. The whole staff is friendly and helpful! Dr. Laura and her staff are some of the most genuine people on the planet with the best bedside manner. I have been to other PTs and I was not happy with the gossip, neglect and disregard for what's best for the patient. Her staff is young and always happy to help. They are knowledgeable and I have seen such an improvement in my general wellbeing since working with them. They don't have the most expensive equipment but that's ok... that stuff just complicates things. Takes up valuable space that could be used to help someone else in need. Absolute Bottom Barrel Customer Service. I feel like I was sucker punched into coma after dealing with front desk lead. I made it very clear that I work on call at four hotels and cannot at times commit to Tuesday/Thursday 10:30 A.M. I called in advance give proper notice but was never rescheduled an appointment. I attended 9/12 sessions and when I recently called to reschedule she cuts me off in the middle of my sentence as says "we have spoken to your attorney and you are discharged". RUFKM? Are you in business to bring people in or are you in business to drive people out? Y'all think you have power over your customers and that is downright insanity. Please send that front desk staff to Psychiatric Hospital ASAP. I will never ever recommend or step foot at that garbage location. Be aware that front desk receptionist doesn't obviously know how to do there jobs , My son was a patient back in September and October of 2019 went in for visits front desk ask for copay upfront which is normal told me my copay was $20 each visit now 6 months later getting a bill for $80 saying I owed a different amount so that was the difference. First of all I worked in the medical field it's up to the the front desk to verify insurance and get that copay information from insurance prior to visits that's there responsibility not to guess what it might be. And I never ever received a bill this whole time of course billing manager blames it on Covid really . Anyway sucks that they won't take responsibility for there mistakes. The only reason I took a risk on this place was because of its close proximity to my house. I've been to three other PT clinics before, and this one is completely lazy and half-assed in comparison. The actual licensed therapists at this place seem to run an assembly-line racket where they only work on you for the first 10-15 minutes of your hour-long appointment before handing you off to a student who basically babysits you doing various exercises that can easily be done at home. People go to a therapist to help recover from an injury BECAUSE they canNOT do certain things at home for themselves. At my other PT clinics, the therapist spends the majority of the time challenging you and working directly with you before going over exercises that will be your "homework" until your next appointment. If you've never been to PT, I can see why you might think this place is acceptable. To their credit, everyone from the front office staff to the therapists and students are nice enough. Unfortunately, the therapists seem to do the very bare minimum and offer no challenge to improve your condition. I'll be going back to one of my other PT clinics because this place is NOT going to be beneficial to my recovery. I recommend you save yourself the wasted time and money and find another clinic. read more

The pt staff here are awesome. They are attentive and caring for their patients. The PTs and PTAs are knowledgeable on methods to help your condition and flexible if you need to bring your child with you. It's clean and everyone greets you with a smile. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is because of the front desk. They do not provide reminder calls/texts, and i have witnessed a number of patients arrive at the wrong time or on the wrong day, then the receptionist says "you will be charged $50". Seems like a better system is needed to prevent missed appt timee. A simple reminder call would help. read more

My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Laura at Total PT for about a year and a half. We have had such a great experience with her and all of the staff. She is very knowledgeable and compassionate. Simply unbelievable, excellent therapists as far as I can tell in a clean environment , 2 great smiles at the reception desk but an unprofessionalism accentuated by an horrendous customer service from the back office, and one receptionist to some extent. Total Physical Therapy cancelled one of my appointment without notifying me, and when I showed up after a 30 + minutes drive I am being told "too bad, go home, we are completely booked". Not even the slightest effort on their part to see if they could fit me in later, just arguing with me about a supposed phone call cancellation. I'm retired Navy and still work for the Navy at NAS North Island. A few months ago, I helped move hundreds and hundreds, perhaps thousands of pounds of sensitive Navy electronic equipment from one location to another over a two-week period. Thankfully, this was a one-time job. As a result of my efforts, I developed a bad case of "Tennis Elbow". I believe it should really be called Tennis Arm, because my entire right arm soon starting aching constantly and was affecting my daily life! I could not easily move my arm like I used to do. After a few weeks it was not getting any better and I soon visited my doctor who fortunately referred me to Total Physical Therapy. Through the Staff's expert care, my Tennis Elbow pain reduced significantly the first week, and continued to get better with each following week of therapy. The stretches, exercises, ice, electical stimulus, and home exercises worked wonders. I was amazed at how much and how quickly the pain was reduced, and the pain relief after so many weeks felt wonderful! My very sincere thanks goes to the SUPER Team at Total Physical Therapy, JoAnn, Nicole, Stephanie, Kati, Ali, Leah, and O'Neil! You're all miracle-workers in my opinion. You may have guessed that I am pretty active and have had more than my share of injuries. This physical therapy office just moved from Johnson Ave. in El Cajon so you might think they're new. They really deserved the new office, these folks are wonderful. Very knowledgable and they really supported me through my most recent injury. Sometimes you can't quatify exactly what makes a place so great, and outside of really knowing you, your injury, your progress and how best to help you, I just can't quite put my fingert on what makes them so special. read more

Worst therapy ever. I got transferred from another therapy to TOTAL Physical Therapy because it was closer to where I live. Biggest mistake as I went from 20 mins massages and careful instruction to a person on his phone not even caring about what I'm doing. The only reason this place is getting two stars is because there was only one good therapist that I had but unfortunately he moved out to another place and there goes their only hope. I have NEVER been treated so rudely! An attempt was made, repeatedly to schedule an appointment. This place is the most unprofessional "medical" office I have ever encountered. It took forever for them to get their act together for authorizations, etc. They kept reaching out to the pediatrician for INSURANCE authorization. Then trying to schedule appointments was a joke. When they did return my calls they were unintelligible, rude and kept asking to speak to my daughter (who is a minor) instead of speaking to me for appointment scheduling. Once an appointment was made, they cancelled THE DAY OF due to the therapist being out of the office (I know these things happen). However, in all the conversations I had with these people, NEVER once did they indicate that they had moved. I presumed like all professional offices, you should show up 15 minutes or so before your appointment for whatever paperwork and signatures, but that was never confirmed by anyone in that office. An hour before our appointment I did receive a call asking "if we were showing up?" WTH? Is that how you are supposed to speak to a prospective patient? Well, we show up for our appointment 20 minutes early ... only to find out that they have moved. They are not at the address listed in this yelp ad, google, or anywhere else for that matter. I've never seen any type of letter or confirmation from them so I couldn't tell you about their letterhead. There is a sign on the door of the old address that says where they are located, but you have to wade your way through the homeless encampment to even read it. Back in the car, type new addy into the GPS and off we go. I could not locate the office. It is not marked in any way and I drove around and around looking for this place. When I called to tell them I was lost and could they please tell me what they were close to I was rudely berated by the person who answered the phone. Her first words to me were "YOU'RE LATE!" I was surprised at her lack of professionalism and apologized, told her I was was lost. She reiterated her comment, so I responded with the obvious statement "yes, I understand I'm late, I'm lost." She continued to chastise me for not showing up 15 minutes early. When I told her that I had in fact shown up early ... sadly to the wrong address ... and if she could just tell me what they were close to I could be right there. She again stated in a nasty manner that I was LATE and needed to be there 15 minutes ago! To say I am angry is an understatement! I advised them in no uncertain terms, that we would not be coming to the appointment - nor would be reschedule - EVER - and hung up. They immediately called back. Then I received a call from a different individual apologizing for the "misunderstanding". The only misunderstanding folks ... is that you get paid as a professional service.
