I spent about 15 minutes in the shop, picking up several different skeins of yarn to inspect the fibers and composition. No one was at the register. I'm not even sure if anyone there was working or not. It felt like I had entered a party that I was not invited to. Strange experience. I wanted to support a local business instead of Michaels, but walked out without a purchase. Even as I was exiting there was no greeting of any kind.

What I thought would be a 30 minute shopping trip ended up being an extensive historical visit. So many looms! It was so fascinating to see the variety and hear about the history of any loom I inquired about. I even got to see Jacquard looms for the first time, an inspiration for the first computers! As a data nerd, I geeked out over this, especially since I had recently read Code Girls about the now forgotten women computers, code breakers, and cryptanalysts. Oh, yeah! And they have yarn, too. So many options from local dyers and spinners. I would have bought more if I wasn't already bursting at the seams.
