You spin me right round.. I'm in Germany and I'm starting to feel my oats, tonights dinner I'm looking forward to a more traditional meal. Walking into, how do you say the name of this spot? I see a combo plate served with Spaetzel. Brown gravy, are you feelin' me yelper? And of course. Beer. I ordered a trifecta plate of meat, I'm not sure what it all was but it came with a side of spaetzel. Wowza! That meat plate was fire! I took a bite of meat, then spaetzel. Brown gravy coating the spaetzel, it's all good in this German neighborhood. Service was good, we all sat at a outdoor table. Awesome authentic German food! This is in the heart of K-town and provides for an excellent German atmosphere and plenty of fantastic German options to choose from. The schnitzel is great and I also really enjoyed the bratwurst. Service is also awesome, you definitely feel like you're in a nice German restaurant. Great restaurant for German food. They didn't have a full bar, so we stuck to beer and wine during the meal. I got the rahmachnitzel with kasespaetzel and my husband got the goulash. Both were really quite yummy. For dessert we got the special sweet flamkuchen. It was also good. We were very stuffed after our meal. We then decided to end our meal with the schnapps they had. I didn't love that, but my husband liked his. Would definitely return. read more

My wife and I made reservations to Gaststätte Spinnrädl for Valentine's Day. The server was very helpful and made the evening very pleasant. She recommended a wine that each of us would like which sounds basic, but she was spot on. I ordered the spinnrädl pfännchen which was very delicious and filling without being too heavy. For dessert I ordered the sweet tarte flambée with apples, banana, cinnamon, and sugar to share with my wife. It was basically a thin, dessert pizza but light, crispy, and very good. I fully recommend either dish or dessert on your visit. Prices are friendly as well with drinks, dinner, and dessert totalling only €45. You will not be disappointed. The atmosphere was lively.. and the people very nice and courteous. It is quite small on the first floor, but it is so beautiful, for it's historic charm. This is a great place. Good food, friendly people and great Bier! Seasonal menu items and loved by the locals.

Service was very nice and kind. They take reservations so arrange for this. We came early before noon so we got a table with no wait. Enjoyed a meal of schnitzel and pork loaf with German potato salad and pomme frites (French fries). For dessert we had apfelstrudel with a cup of cafe. I had the sausage, pork patty with tiny potatoes in it as well as the mash potatoes and red cabbage something different and it may not look yummy after I put that mustard sauce on it but trust me it surely was good, will come here again and try the other foods. I underestimate this place every time I walked pass it but it was highly recommended by a co worker and I'm glad we tried it, inside is clean and food is great. We recently visited a friend that lived in Kaiserslautern and she brought us to Spinnrädl so that we could eat some authentic German food. The building that houses the restaurant is a nice old building which really gives a good atmosphere. They had menus in German (of course) and in English. We ordered and shared three meals so that we could try multiple items. The portions were all big and we were able to take a decent amount of food home with us too. We had the Jägerschnitzel and spätzle, bratwurst and sauerkraut, and flammkuchen. The bratwurst also came with mashed potatoes and the schnitzel came with a rich creamy mushroom sauce; overall, a huge amount of food. All the food was really good. I could have eaten the schnitzel again and I loved the spätzle. And, of course, we drank a few beers. I would eat here again if I visit Kaiserslautern in the future. read more

We were seated w 2guys from another country. These 2 guys were a blast and we got to see what they ordered. So we ordered the beer goulash which was excellent, spinach dumplings, heavy on the spinach but still good. Then dinner mates ordered cheese spätzle and schnitzel. Both enjoyed their meal. I ordered the dot delete which was excellent. Haven't found a bad one yet. Wish I got the name of it. This was a lovely place with lots of character. Staff was super sweet. Wandered into this place because it's near my hotel. The waitress spoke great English (thank goodness), and was very friendly and helpful. I had a delicious red wine (St. Laurent) and ordered pork steak with grilled onions and fried potatoes - absolutely delicious! For desert I had apple streusel, which was also amazing. This is our go-to place to take our visitors for a great, traditional German meal. The restaurant is small, expect to wait for a table unless you have reservations or get there right when they open. The food is typical Rheinland Pfalz fare and is quite tasty. The atmosphere is lovely, and the service is always with a smile. The building is one of the oldest, surviving half-timbered in Kaiserslautern and used to be (as in the 1800's) "THE" gathering spot for lawmakers in Kaiserslautern. Woohoo! As good as it gets! - IS CORRECT. Every review I looked at was raving about this place so I, being the Yelper that I am, had to stop in! During the week prior we had a failed attempt coming here because they weren't open yet, but I made sure I saved my appetite for this time. Came in for a later dinner with two co-workers of mine; as we were on a business trip. We were seated immediately and served by a very polite waitress. Overwhelmed by what to order we all ordered their very own pilsners all around to buy us some time. I was in the mood to try something different; something I hadn't tried before. Naturally, I order the meatloaf (que the "mahh the meatloaf" reference). Their meatloaf was different from what we have back in the states, but sometimes, different is good! It sure was. Don't think I took a single bite without my tastebuds begging for more! One co-worker order the jagerschnitzel (adult size) and the other proceeded to order the "tiny" schnitzel and was laughed at by the table and the waitress as well. I digress because it was all in good fun! Waitress was pleasant; food met expectations and it was a very small, quite place to eat. Being the healthy guy that I am I had to pass on dessert, but my friends didn't. Naturally with the little will power that I do have, I had a bite of each dessert they ordered and was impressed. Our choice for German food hands down. The ambience is wonderful, as other Yelpers have stated, the restaurant is housed in the oldest building in Kaiserslautern. The beer is crisp and cool, and the food is delicious. Don't bother trying to count calories at this place. Everything here is delicious and substantive. The Flammkuchen is delectable and the specials are wonderful as well. It's a small restaurant and frequented by many locals. If you want a big tatsy snitzel, fried potatoes and an authentic German experience, this is the place. Spinnradl is in the oldest timber building left standing in K-Town. Since then entire city was flattened in WWII, this is the only place in the city where you will really feel like you are in old Germany. The waiting staff all speak English and they are usually very frindly and beautiful. Not a bad combination. You will find some rather old German pensioners frequenting the place, which should tell you that it is a great place. If you have family visiting, this restaurant is a must. read more
