I've used spirit on several occasions and never have missed a flight. I think they may have been late once or twice but for the price you cannot beat it. If you simply adhere to the rules and pay attention you will not be charged for anything extra. If you don't take the time to buy your bags online, etc that's your fault. Not spirit. Also, I always get the exit seat or pay for the big front seat. So much leg room. Once again, I have used them several times with no issues. All the bad reviews are because people are too stupid to read. They are too stupid to read therefore since they are stupid they blame the airline. It's real simple. Pay for your bags online, if you need them. Don't wait till you are at the line ready to board. You get all kinds of warnings when you are paying for your flight. So yeah once again I haven't had any bad experiences with them. I can normally pack pretty light and get everything I need as my personal carry on for free in my backpack. If you have more than a backpack simple pre pay for your bags. Don't be dumb lol People crying about boarding passes. Simply download the app. Or take a pic of it from your phone. Easy as hell. But no it's spirits fault because you don't pay attention. People shouldn't be allowed to give bad reviews for being stupid and not reading. If you read they tell you to print your boarding pass or get the app cause it will cost you 10.00. They tell you to pre pay for your bags, they tell you no free snacks or water. All these cry babies crying because they don't read and are lazy.

Avoid this airline at all cost. If you expect a budget flight, this is not it. If you are looking for a cheap airline that is unreliable and constant delays, then this is the airline for you. Also, their planes are small so you can expect a lot of vibration and rough moments on the plane. We decided to book a late evening flight and the flight was delayed 3hrs which meant we will arrive 3 hrs later. No description of why the flight was delayed. Upon further review, we noticed that other spirit flights at the airport were delayed as well. Whether it's a glitch in their system or poor weather, management needs to communicate with their customers better on this. Also, upon boarding the plane, the seats are very crammed together and the seat tray is a JOKE. You can barely put a phone on the table. What if you are going to eat food on the plane, would it be alright for customers to eat food using the seats as a table. This is screaming unsanitary to the customers. Also, don't purchase the seats with the larger foot space. It's not worth the $$. If you want an affordable option, choose another airline. Spirit is very unreliable and the experience will taint your time flying. Trust me Yelpers, just say NO to Spirit. You can thank me later! If you must take this airline, don't download the app. It will not allow you to get a scannable code for your boarding pass. The app will tell you to get it at the airport for a $10 fee. Again, avoid this airline and their app.

Did not load my luggage. When luggage arrived 7 hours later they shipped it to me with a scheduled delivery of 4days later. Now I'm back home and my luggage is still not even with Spirit. Flight was delayed in return. They never return any call or voicemail. Tons of time Spent dealing with STILL unresolved issue. I'm mentally exhausted from dealing with this every day. Wasted Tons of Family vacation time going to Walmart for clothes and waiting on hold. They also caused me to have to change car rental places since I was late, costing me an additional $250. Fuel spent traveling to get supplies I had packed. I've been told multiple times I'd be contacted by a supervisor, still nothing. I've never felt less important than this company has made my family feel as a customer.

Horrible airline because the planes are small, the seats are small and you can feel all the turbulence of the plane as it flies. Thank goodness, Spirit is primarily for short flights. However, this is not COVID-19 friendly, unless they completely don't book the flight and leave a seat empty next to you, which I get. No food or drinks. Must be purchased. Luggage cannot weigh over 50lb or you'll get charged. Actually, scratch that, 30lbs. I've met nothing but drunk people next to me, totally a quick trip and that's the most I could take. Flew to Los Angeles from Denver... However coming back from Las Vegas, Nevada?? Sometimes, you just want to fall asleep and you can't because it's hot and sticky on these dirty seats.

What horrific customer service. I have a deathly peanut allergy and they refused to not serve nuts On my flight. I had to ride with my jacket over my face the entire time fearful for my life. When I told the steward and the front desk girls of my allergy their response "you carry an epipen with you right?" Little do they know as soon as you go into anaphylactic shock and have to use your epipen you immediately have to go to the hospital. Which isn't exactly possible when you're flying. I will never fly with this horrible company again.

Spirit employee changed my confirmed seat to the last row on purpose.

I was deliberately moved from my assigned seat 10D to 31F which is the last row without a window by a very inappropriate Spirit employee on November 21st 2019 at 11am. Look him up Spirit. He's rude, made rude and inappropriate comments and pulled a fast one one me. Not acceptable. I would like to talk to his manager and supervisor. Attached is a picture of my reserved seat which was crossed out and reassigned as I boarded the plane. The flight attendants agreed that this was maliciously changed on purpose.

First off, this was my second flight EVER, and I also know Sh** happens. My first flight was with Frontier, they were on-time and overall great. My flight with Spirit wasn't as great. My flight was delayed 10x , literally 10x. In addition to the delays, we also changed terminals ; no big deal right ? The employees didn't bother telling us about the change until 5 minutes before boarding. I was sitting in LAX from 4pm to 3am pt. I will NEVER fly this with air line again, I will also tell everyone I know how absolutely unprofessional and unprepared they are.

The only way this flight could be worse is if the crying baby was louder.

Yesterday, April 4, 2026 I originally had a flight to Houston at 11:30AM. Houston was the layover to my final destination of Atlanta. At 10AM I was told that the first flight was delayed an hour which was going to cause me to miss the second flight. Myself and two other people approached the gate to resolve the issue and was told that the only option is a direct flight to Atlanta that doesn't leave until 10PM. I was immediately irritated because I had been there since 8AM and 10PM is a long time to wait. I respectfully asked if they could ask the flight in Houston to just hold off since we would be getting there late by 2 minutes. The very rude woman at the desk replied "if it was more of you but it's just 3 of you." So the three of us don't matter? Obviously what I'm asking can be done, but because it's 3 of us we don't have the option to try to make our flight that was inconvenienced because of your company! Truly disgusting. I was told my other option was to take the flight and "see if they can help you." While I understand that things happen out of employee's control, the attitude and the lack of empathy is what made the situation worse. However, that was not even the worst of it all. I sat in the airport a total of 12 hours just to get banned from boarding my flight. I came with a backpack that I always take with me, that fits under the seat, a personal item. I did not have a purse or anything else. The backpack was all I had, but being at the airport so long I had purchased a charger, water and food so I was carrying that plastic bag with my personal item as we were boarding. I was told to step aside to speak to someone about my bag. Not at the counter, or outside of the boarding area, I was standing at the entrance of the boarding area. After standing there several minutes and no one approached me I thought maybe she wasn't talking to me. After all, I have never had a problem with this bag. I start walking towards the ramp and a lady asked me to come back. I explained to her what I just explained to you and she said that my plastic bag of food counts as my personal item so I have to pay $99 for my backpack. I'm flustered because I fly allllll the time and everytime I'm in the airport I get water and snacks and take them with me. Not one person on 100s of trips have ever approached me about that bag! The lady already told me I had to pay, but continues to make me weigh it. As I'm weighing it, it now doesn't fit because I put the bag of snacks there. After she yelled for the 10th time "it's $99!" I said, fine, here is my card!! After I said that she says, "you're being loud and disrespectful so I'm not letting you on!" I never once raised my voice or was rude. She thought I didn't have any money and when I did she created another problem. I pleaded with her to let me on because I had been at the airport 12 hours and I needed to get home to my children! She wouldn't even look up from her phone. I pulled out my phone to text my babysitter that I might not be coming home and she goes "I was about to let you on but you're secretly recording me!" I picked up my phone IMMEDIATELY to show her my text thread and she continued to tell them to close the door.

Everything was on time and the first flight crew was great. The next flight out, the crew was equally great, the boarding process was fast, and the flight arrived early. Hard to beat that. They also were offering a $1500 travel credit if someone gave up their seat, but on the heels on a fun but mildly exhausting trip, I couldn't rally for it. Just wasn't in the cards this time but I appreciate them not crapping out a low ball offer like I've seen from Southwest where they roll a few points onto your account. $1500 is a real, "we mean business" kind of offer which is a good sign. In an era of consolidated airlines and travel delays, this was a welcome breath of fresh air. I probably need more info to really gauge it, but glad to try them out recently.

I understand stuff happens but come on.. everytime i fly in and out to Denver there's something. Since they changed their business model and became like the other main airlines...like no more free bags or open seating, their service has gone downhill. Almost every gate agent now asks for voluntary checked bags as they claim overhead bins are full. As I had a layover iMCO I was like ok I'll do it. I thought I was doing a good thing. I even asked the gate agent is there anything I need to do because I have a layover? No he says... it will meet you at BWI. The one time I dont put my apple tag is when they lose my luggage!! I arrive at BWI... it's 1 am. And everyone else got their bag except me.... They track my bag it's at MCO. My bag tag apparently fell off. The airport code tag fell off. Not cool. It took a day and a half to be reunited with my bag. However SW customer service agents over the phone were great. My bag was placed on the next flight out and they used like a courier company to deliver my bag to my house I did have the option to pick it u at the airport but it's too far. I 100% place blame on the baggage handlers at DEN. If you are voluntary doing a checked bag make sure you take pictures of your luggage, make sure the tags are secured and throw in an air tag. SW should limit the amount of carry-ons if they constantly need people to have their bag checked or lower their prices. SW did look out for me and issue a voucher for the inconvenience.

Its success was…read morebuilt on a simple formula: low fares, friendly service, operational excellence, and a genuine focus on the customer. This strategy created remarkable loyalty and made Southwest one of the most admired and fun airlines in the industry. Today, the company appears to be moving in a very different direction. Following pressure from activist investors and changes in leadership with the CFO being promoted to the CEO, Southwest has embraced a more revenue-driven strategy focused on increasing shareholder returns. The introduction of checked-bag fees, paid seat selection, and other ancillary charges marks a significant departure from the business model that differentiated the airline for more than 50 years. Today, checking a bag can cost around $90 on some fares, and passengers often have to pay extra to secure a desirable seat. Without doing so, many will end up in a middle seat toward the back of the aircraft. I did on all my flights to SLC via Denver and Los Angeles. These initiatives may improve short-term cash flow and earnings, but they also risk weakening the customer loyalty that was once Southwest's greatest competitive advantage. In my case, i will avoid Southwest like the plague and i really fly a great deal. Over the past couple of years flights are systematically delayed, luggages are lost , agents at the gate have little authority to change things as the focus has shifted away from customers and operations. Profitability and shareholder value are essential goals for any public company. However, the strongest businesses create long-term shareholder value by first creating exceptional value for their customers. Time will tell whether Southwest's new strategy proves successful, but from a passenger's perspective, the airline has lost much of what once made it special.

I could not check in on the app or on the website in the day prior, so I stood in line for close to an hour at the American window where they told me I was actually flying BA (my travel record showed American) and I needed to go to another terminal. I got to that terminal and tried to get in line to check in but BA employee said I needed to use the kiosk. I explained I was unable to check in on apps or online and needed an agent. They insisted I try the kiosk first. Unsurprisingly.. it didn't work. I was allowed to get in the check in line with an agent where I stood for the next almost 2 hours. Yes, 2 hours standing on a concrete floor. My back was screaming (old people problems, I know). I finally got up to an agent who said I wasn't able to check in because I needed to show my visa. I pulled up my British electronic visa and she said "no love, your American visa".. while holding my American passport in her hand. I explained I don't need a visa because I am an American returning to my home country. She looked confused but decided she needed to call someone to help. I stood while she was on hold and transferred around to different places who eventually told her it was an issue in the system today and they would remove the error. She then told me I had no seat on the flight because it was oversold and they couldn't guarantee I would get on, so they may have to book my on the next flight which was the next day or would need to look at another airline for me. I explained, yes.. that's why I have a standby boarding pass. It says standby on it. She said it wasn't standby in the system and it needed to be fixed, so she had to call someone to assist. Another 15 minutes later and they couldn't get it to work and I was going to miss the flight, she said she would take me through a different security line so I could get to the gate. She did that and I had to take a train to get to the gate, which wasn't working for about 5 minutes because it was having a "security sweep" with officers and dogs going through it. I finally got on the train, got off at the right place, ran all the way to the gate as they were boarding. Asked if they had a seat for me, and they huffily said they did but I almost didn't because I waited so long to get to the gate. Are you kidding me? I got on the plane and will be happy to never fly British Airlines again. I guess all the great luck I've had traveling was made up for on this trip. Just terrible.
