I love shopping at Hot Topic. I always something I want but it's too pricey but they have cash coupons that can save you money. If you spend $30, you get $15 off. I have used them and they help when you make big purchases. Definitely worth it. Just give them your cell number. Inside is always dark but so cool to look at things. I like to go to Hot Topic to check out the Hello Kitty and anime apparel. Within the past week we've been to the Ala Moana and Pearlridge locations. We purchased shirts from both locations, so we were just browsing today. The Ka Makani Alii location had to same stock. We didn't see any different shirts. We already bought the shirts we wanted. However, I wish that we would have bought the shirts here. They were giving out a free anime sticker with any anime apparel purchase. I didn't get a sticker at the Ala Moana or Pearlridge locations. read more

The Pearlridge staff was super friendly, going out of their way to call this location for a pick-up item. I was also returning some shirts that were too small for my son, so I had to make a trip out to the Ka Makana location. Being that it's COVID pandemic, there's a limited amount of people that can go in, no problem. My problem was being told by the girl manning the monitor table, "sorry we are full", and no explanation, like the Pearlridge location, who apologized for the wait and that we could go in as soon as some others came out. This location didn't seem to want you to go in, which was the same experience as the returns. The girl working the register was abrupt and short with me but later became nice as she saw me eyeing her name tag. I don't like this location. I'm going to stick with the Pearlridge location from now on, or maybe even make a drive out to Ala Moana. read more

With the craziness of the holiday season, this was the only store I decided to stand in line for. It was a short line with 3 people in front of me and a limited amount can go inside. The girl at the front was practically screaming at the guests in front of the line. Very annoying, I could hear her 18ft spaced away loud and clear. When I got to the front, it was like she was yelling in my ear. It wasn't even loud outside. As soon as I was let in and I didn't even know what the promos were but could hear her explain them to the couple that was behind me after they had to ask. Boy was I sure glad to see this store at Ka Makana Ali's shopping center. This meant no more drives out to Pearlridge to appease my daughters NEED to buy a new shirt or new POP figure AGAIN. This location is well stocked and equipped with very helpful staff who will gladly help you find the size you're looking for , or get that dress down from the top rack, or find the one POP figure she is going crazy looking for. Another good thing about Hot Topic is their Hot Topic cash( I apologize if that's not the correct name for it). You can also be put on a call reminder list so that they will call you to remind you when the valid period is to use your Hot Topic Cash. Only trouble is, if you don't have self control, you will end up buying more than you expected and earn new Hot Topic cash to use the next time. Of course there is always something new to buy. The new and cutest thing I recently found was mini POP figures, and wouldn't you know they had one of my favorites ( don't tell my daughter, she'll freak if she finds out I like this as much as she does)...Harley Quinn! read more

Yikes, usually Hot Topic employees are so nice and helpful but the manager or lead here, Tasha, was so unprofessional and rude. When I was looking at shirts, she asked me if I needed help finding shirts and when I responded with "oh no, I'm good," she condescendingly responded with "you sure?" Also, when my friend asked to do an exchange, she made it seem like she was being inconvenienced and sighed when he asked to exchange his items. The level of disrespect she displayed was absolutely unacceptable. I would understand more if it were near closing time, but they literally had 25 minutes more before closing. I also tried to take the survey but I kept getting an error message so here I am on Yelp instead. Bottom line: management titles should come with the prerequisite of being able to customer service. She does not deserve the title that she has. read more

The newest Oahu Hot Topic location opened on 22 October 2016 at a Makana Ali'i mall in Kapolei. The store has a spacious, well organized design in the traditional style of Hot Topic. Items range from Men and Women's clothing, to pop culture franchise items such as Funko Pop, throws, tumblers, pins, stuffies, keychains and other paraphernalia designed to allow fans to express their love of all sorts of comic book, TV, movie, and Anime icons of the past and present. The staff is super engaged and helpful, and are able to help with both locating items and reserving items if not currently available. They are also able to do limited personal shopping assistance, for those hard to shop for friends and family. Clothing items mostly cater to a pop culture, goth, and the 13-30 crowd. Merchandise is rotated often, and it's one of those places at the Mall where you will find something new every time you visit. When this Hot Topic location first opened, it was one of my favorites. It was easy to shop since the store wasn't crazy packed like the other locations. Now that it's been a couple years opened, the store is getting a lot more congested and just as messy as other locations. On one of my recent online orders, they majority messed up (Not sure if it was this store or online distribution). I checked my items when I got home, they weren't looked at prior to leaving... My mistake. I only ended up with 2 items being mine and other random items that must have been mixed with someone else's order. A bunch of me other items never got to me. I was refunded through customer service but now I opt to have my items shipped to Pearlridge. Another crappy thing I've been hearing about Ka Makana Alii in general is that cars have been getting broken into, so beware and keep things either out of your car or hidden before parking. Other than that, I just love Hot Topic in general. I'll always shop here just because everything here just really fits my personality. read more

Love this store! I started collecting Funko Pops a few years ago and it's so convenient to have a Hot Topic on the west side! Whenever I walk in, the staff always greets with a welcome. Jake (caucasian male) is always quick to update me with the new arrivals and the latest deals whenever I stop by. Their pop wall is usually pretty organized. But more importantly, they are usually full. And they do a great job at posting on social media the latest and greatest. Lately they've been sponsoring monthly pop swaps. It's great to have a free event like that without making the trek to town. I hope they continue. For the record, I'm not a dork, I just have over 200 collectables (not toys) that I keep in pristine boxes all over my office and home. Lol ;) read more

Review challenge 2/100! Words cannot express my love for hot topic. Which is why I'm not even going to try lol. Just know that I have a credit card with them and baby do I get some miles in on it. This is why you can imagine my relief (and dismay for my wallet) when a hot topic opened up closer to me on the west side. With this location at Kamakana Ali'i, I practically never have to go to Pearl Ridge since I honestly don't shop at any other stores lol. In comparison to all the other locations I've been to, I think that this location has the nicest and coolest workers. This past Christmas, I came in so often that one of the guys recognized me and we got to talking about Rick and Morty. It's always a nice experience to be able to connect with the people you're buying from. In any case, I recommend this store over the others because I have never experienced the kerfuffle that was that one guy trying to upsell everything at Ala Moana location (including attempting to trick my friend Gypsy into getting a credit card), and I have never experienced poor service or sassy attitudes. I've so far always found what I wanted and until i experience otherwise, this location gets 5 stars from me! read more

I really like this Hot Topic! Jude helped my daughter (Harry Potter fan) get set up with some Harry Potter clothes that were on sale! Then helped us find the perfect Batman gifts for her BFF. They didn't have everything we wanted in the store, so we were helped with a web order. Although we didn't get an email like we were expecting when it came in, I called and found out it was ready for pick up. They honor the military discount and were great about telling us about all of the sales going on. When I went to pick it up, I showed my receipt and the man at the counter grabbed our box from the back. He opened it in front of us and made sure it was what we ordered and in the condition we were expecting. Everything was great and there's a happy kid out there with a bunch of new Batman stuff! We will probably go to this one every time we are at the mall. read more

First of all, I just wanna say that all the ASSOCIATES here are super friendly and helpful. BUT the only reason why I'm giving this store in Kamakana Ali'i a 1 star, is because of the store manager (a Caucasian male named Jake). He was very rude to me when I put something on hold to purchase and exchange. He didn't greet me when I came in, and he also didn't say thank you when I finished my exchange. He suggested putting in my boyfriends number in for their rewards program because I didn't have one. (Keep in mind, my boyfriend wasn't there and I was by myself) It was odd because I never did talk to the guy, yet he knew I had a boyfriend and was also giving me an unpleasant attitude. With that being said, I would think that it's very unprofessional to talk about a customers boyfriend when you don't even know the person, ESPECIALLY given the fact that he is the store manager. Other than that, it's a great store. I just think that it needs a change in management. Managers should be professional and provide good customer service, and that's just not what I got. read more

Manager Jake was super helpful. He greeted us right of the bat, and explained all the great deals he had to offer in the store. I had been looking for some comfy blankets and a jacket for the movie that we were about to watch. We had bought 2groot blankets and a mirror for my daughter. He was super helpful and great at customer service. Make sure they take ALL the security tags off your items!! I went there yesterday (12/21/2019) to get a gift for my little cousin and got a couple other items for myself. The next day, when I was in the process of wrapping my cousin's gift, I found out that it still had the security tag on it!! If I didn't catch that, his parents may think I stole it! So I now had to take the time to get it removed! Since I didn't want to damage the item by attempting to remove it myself (I don't have a high powered magnet, so I would've had to use other means of getting it off), I had to drive ALL THE WAY BACK there . It's bad enough that I had to suffer through the crowd and traffic yesterday to get the item, but now I had to suffer through it twice!!! They need to train their staff better with checking all the items for the security tags. It would certainly save themselves time down the road as well as myself. read more

This is the worst Hot Topic between the Ka Makana, Pearlridge and Ala Moana locations. An employee there needs to be retrained. He helped us with a Web order (buy online, ship to store for free). I didn't receive any confirmation emails notifying me the order was ready for pick up. Over 2 weeks has passed and we went to check if it was ready and to return a gift (t-shirt) that my daughter already owned. The same guy was working and he tried to make me feel stupid and asked me if I checked the junk mail box. I go through my emails everyday and also searched "hot topic" and "order pick up". I did not receive anything and he didn't apologize. He ended up finding it in the back. When I was doing the return, he just said, "I.D." So I had to ask him, "do you need my I.D.?" He said, "yeah for the return. If you used a card to purchase it, I wouldn't need your I.D." He didn't have to waste his breath and tell me all of that if he just asked me for my I.D. in a full sentence. That was annoying. This location has the worst employees. read more

The attitude of the staff comes across as bored and/or misinformed. One female employee commented to me, "You wouldn't want to work here" on one visit. If I were the manager I would have found that embarrassing and unprofessional, and would have encouraged this employee to find another job if she is so unhappy. The staff are very aggressive and on at least two occasions, I have wanted to walk out in the middle of being rung in because the clerk was being so pushy. We only go to this location out of convenience of it being close to where we live and we can sometimes find items here that other locations no longer have in stock. However, I'd rather make the drive to Pearlridge for the more pleasant shopping experience. read more

Located in the newly built Ka Makani Ali'i Mall in Kapolei, this location is very spacious and has very friendly associates who want to make sure that you have the best shopping experience. Great place to find Funko Pop Vinyl figures in themes ranging from Star Wars to Harry Potter to Moana and more! I can't wait to go back! read more
