Yesterday my boyfriend, my daughter and I stopped in to purchase some accessories to complete my daughter's Bumblebee costume and his Winnie-the-Pooh Bear costume. Thanks to the very bubbly and helpful employee Ashley my boyfriend found a cute pair of brain bear ears and a black makeup stick to paint on his bear nose! My daughter's wings came with a cute antenna headband which I thought was amazing since she needed both, the wings could be a bit better quality and needs some adjustment since they only had teen size, but she loves them, they're nice and sparkly and it matches her Bee costume! I also purchased her a fun Minnie Mouse flashlight projector that we tested out for Trick or Treating this year we are going with the kids I nanny! I would recommend this location located next to Michaels craft store and we will be returning for future costume needs! Yasssss my absolute FAVORITE time of the year! I LIVE for this time of season and would you like to know WHY my little pretties?!?! Simply cause it's Fall, leaves are turning crunchy, October is slowly approaching and is my Birthday month! Plus the weather is changing, pumpkins are EVERYWHERE, Halloween season is upon us and with that we get to enjoy this fun Halloween super store we know today as Spirit! Spirit has been around for AGES and I have grown up on this store from way back in the day. I'm talking mid 90's up until now and it only gets better every year! So many costumes, accessories, props, gadgets and knick knacks inside this store! I visit as many Spirits as I can when my time of year comes around because I am obsessed with horror, especially old school horror. My top favs, Freddy, Michael Myers, Sam from Trick R' Treat. Also love the Nightmare before Christmas franchise! I always find lots of accessories for my house, especially my bedroom. Pillows, snowglobes, and lots of other collector items! It's literally my version of Christmas every Halloween season. The props they set up are so good! Every year their new props are bigger and scarier. Some of them can give you a REALLY good scare if you're caught off guard for example that HUGE damn jumping spider. Every year I passed out a little longer from that jump scare lmao One thing I love at this store is how every popular franchise has their own aisle section of collectibles. Such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Friday the 13th, IT, Child's Play aka Chucky and Sam from Trick R' Treat. Also other less scary franchises which are very popular have their own section too such as Nightmare before Christmas and Hocus Pocus. And that's one of the and just about ONLY the biggest reason why I go to this big unofficial haunted house. read more

New location and new staff, so new update. Spirit stores are not all the same. Some will have more stock than others. This one in particular has an average selection. It's very well laid out, organized, and kid friendly. The scary stuff is in a separate room in the back so your toddler doesn't freak out while you're looking at fishnets, for example. The adult costumes are also on the other side of the store from the children's. I'm sure you can guess why. Staff is friendly, helpful, and the lines are short and move quickly. I have to say we were impressed with this location. The location closer to us is horrible. Come here! First, we were greeted by wonderfully nice staff. There's a guy that walks around cleaning up and checking in on guests, who laughed at all my jokes! Shout out to him (wish I got his name!). They have a ton of Halloween costumes, accessories, and decorations. It's a large location! They even have dressing rooms for you to try the stuff on. It is Halloween, so be aware for littles - there's a lot of scary stuff. We had to cover his eyes for a bit of the areas. Now we all know costumes can be expensive. This place has the same crazy prices. Some are decently priced. What was neat was they had a clearance section already. It wasn't big, but it wasn't super small. After having this conversation and seeing that this young lady would choose violence in-front of children then saying owners justify the behavior will definitely make me second guess brining my child here. My son is a Halloween fanatic as his birthday is a day away from Halloween. He always asks to go the "Halloween store" so we frequent Spirit often just to walk around as their Halloween decor is awesome! We have been to several this year already. Haha However, this Birdcage location is our favorite! The store manger is SUPER sweet, friendly, and helpful! My son had a change of heart on being a skeleton and she was very helpful with our costume exchange and her customer service was out of this world AMAZING! Major THANK YOU!!! This store is very clean and well stocked unlike other stores we have been to. Great hilarious costume selections too! read more

It's too bad this was my last minute stop because they had a great selection. All types of costumes and accessories. I even found minion costumes after looking everywhere for them with no luck. When I got there they were still putting out stuff. The lady that pointed me in the right direction was super nice and the cashier was a really nice guy too. They have everything on clearance as of November 1st so if you have an idea as to what you want to be next year, I think it's an excellent idea to stop in now and get it dirt cheap. I purchased a peek a boo clown at this location and the mouth of the clown is not moving so we decided to exchanged the item. When I arrived I was told that they don't have any stock so Leslie the rude cashier ask me to go to Elk Grove to exchange? Im not driving all the way to Elk Grove spend gas to exchange so I said I will take my money back and Leslie said they don't have money to return it and I have to wait for few hours and she will get money back and no guarantee to get the cash today. How inconvenient is that???? Totally bad customer service! Now I'm stuck with the broken item. It sucks that I have to give this store a star just to upload my review. This store should get only negative stars. Tonight my friend and I went to the Spirit store on Birdcage Lane in Citrus Heights. Let me say that I've never been racially profiled as much as I was in this store. ALL of the employees were eyeballing my friend and I as we walked the isles looking at items. We noticed the stares and whispering of the employees and at first ignored them. When we walked to the opposite side of the store we were once again eyeballed by whispering employees. When I asked them why they were all staring at us and whispering, the answer I received was that they thought we were going to steal. Never did they ask if we wanted any help. They would rather stare and whisper amongst themselves. When I spoke to the manager about this l, she didn't know what to do. I have let all of my family know what took place and none of them will shop there again. I've informed all of my friends on social media as well. Spirit in Citrus Heights is staffed with RACISTS!!! read more

This review is about the Spirit Halloween store at the corner of hazel and Greenback Lane. I get that shrink is a big deal but we felt like we were constantly stalked in the store because I was carrying one item in open view that I wanted to purchase. At one point a very grumpy looking employee was actually standing in the doorway glaring at us like I was going to run out of the store with a $12 dollar item. Frankly it made me not want to buy anything. When I was trying to put the item back the same grumpy employee was rushing past me and I said "you know I've changed my mind about buying this but I'm not sure where it came from, can you put this away for me?" That way I wouldn't be accused of shoplifting if I set the item down in the wrong place. I've worked in retail management for well over twenty years and I'm an old school goth and I can damn well afford to pay for things I want. I felt totally judged because of my appearance by all but one of their employees who was actually friendly and merchandising in the front of the store. It really shouldn't be so strange to see gothic people shopping in Halloween stores. A little respect goes a long way in customer service, ask If need help finding anything, strike up a conversation, etc. Being rude is demonstrating that you don't want sales and customers aren't welcome in your store. And standing in a doorway is stupid because if I was going to run out the door it would put that blockade employee at potential bodily risk. Get some training! read more

Me and my son visited this store today and the service was horrible. Upon entering the store the lady at the register actually stopped what she was doing to come up to me to tell me that there were no large bags allowed in the store. I told her this is my purse (and it was a purse, not a bag). She told me that I had to leave it in the car and that they had been having lots of shoplifting. (which was totally rude to tell me that, as if I was going to steal from them). I told her okay then she went back to finish helping her customer. I told my son to go ahead and look around and I was going to take my purse to the car...But I thought about it for a second and decided NOT to take my purse back to my car and just wait at the front of the store while he looked. After several minutes passed SEVERAL LADIES came in the store with purses larger then mine and NOT ONCE DID she stop them. NOT ONE OF THEM...This made me very angry. I felt like I was singled out. So after she went in the back to do something, I found my son in the store and told the person that was helping him that we were not going to shop here because the cashier told me that I couldn't have my purse in the store but she didn't stop anyone else. But after getting my son I ran into the lady again and told her we were not going to shop there because there were several other ladies that came in the store after me and you didn't stop any of them and she said I know I am trying to get a security guard or something to the effect that our security guard hasn't came back yet. I told her that was just wrong to single me out and that we were leaving...all she said was bye. NO sorry or nothing. I have no problem with rules, rather big or small, but I do have a problem being singled out while others are allowed to shop.........BAD, HORRIBLE BUSINESS. I had to tell my son that she was totally wrong and I am sorry that you would not be getting anything from this store. I will NEVER EVER shop at that store again. Even a few customers looked at me and her...but didn't say a word...granted my son told me that there was a sign outside the door about no large bags, backpacks or shopping carts. Well I didn't see that sign and it was my purse. but the whole point is that you don't single out one customer while others are coming in the store and you say nothing to them............THAT IS JUST WRONG........... read more
