I had gotten my car's inspection here last year and I loved the experience ... this time was terrible. I have an abused integra from 1995, but all she needs is some TLC which I don't really have time or the funds right now. Anyway, it was time for another inspection and brought it to Spiro. When I pulled in; without me even talking yet or getting out of the car, I hear him in Greek say " This car is garbage and belongs in the junkyard nearby". When I did get out of my car I said in Greek "What do you mean it's garbage, it's not garbage.. I need an inspection", and he just stayed quiet while the son tried to diffuse the situation. He didn't apologize or even jokingly laugh to make the situation feel better. It's bad enough that I am a female walking into a mechanics garage but this made it worse. Terrible customer service. Spiro is a nice and fair man. You might be intimidated by him at first because he is serious but if you continue with him you'll notice it is nothing personal, just his way. He also has his son Nick learning the ropes which is nice to see. Spiro always offers great advice on what needs to be done and you'll never feel ripped off or being taken advantage of. I am from V.A. and was in N. Y for my Uncle's funeral when my car broke down : ( I was scared, by myself and I don't know a thing about cars. Turned out my little PT Cruisers' timing belt broke :( . Spiro is a very good mechanic, a good man and a trustworthy person, but he has to hire more mechanics. He does everything himself, which means that all jobs are done in sequence. A simple oil change or state inspection takes longer than it should. Also, he doesn't take credit cards. read more

this is the absolute worse mechanic in new york! i brought him my car to be fixed because the ball joint broke and my tire flew off on the express way. i asked spiro to fix the car as well as examine the car for other issues. he said to call him around 1pm. we spoke that afternoon and he told me the car was fixed and that there wasn't much wrong with the car but the abs sensors. when i came the next morning to get the car, spiro told me that it was safe to drive. after parking the car on the wrong side of the street, i had to drive and look for a parking space. the tire was rattling, the car was shaking, and every time i hit a speed bump, it felt like the car was going to crash and the tire was going to fall off. i took the car that same morning back to him and asked him to fix it. he told me when i came to pick the car up that it was fixed. i didn't have time to drive because i was flying out that night. my girlfriend calls me later in the week, praying and screaming in the car because she thought the tire was going to fall off and she was going crash. i told her that it couldn't be that bad because spiro said it was ok to drive! she got home after driving the streets from the bronx back to brooklyn. i came back from my business trip and decided to take the car for a ride. i got on the express way and the car was violently shaking and the tire was so bad at times, i thought i was going to crash again! i took the car back and asked him what the hell did he fix and why the hell did he give the car back to me in this very unsafe condition! he said it seemed ok and that he fixed the part. but!!!!!! he said he never drove the car after he fixed it. so how in the hell did you know it was safe to drive the car if you never test drove it!!!!!!! then his son answered the phone and i asked him to put my key in the car so that i can park it on the right side of the street and when i get home. i find out not only did they not move the car across the street. he couldn't even complete the easiest of task!! i went in this morning pissed and all he had were excuses. he told me he didnt talk to me about the other issues because he assumed they were too expensive. he assumed i didnt have in money. he told me that 300 dollars was expensive. i drive a lexus!!! everything is expected to be more than a piece of shit car! bottom line, i could have been seriously hurt, my girlfriend and anyone else on the road could have been killed because of his negligence! spiro is a judgmental, negligent, asshole! he has extremely poor customer service, and he walks around the shop trying to be intimidating! well how is this for intimidation? im having my lawyer handle this! spiro's auto repair is a shit show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
