I had an issue with my Subaru that I had put off for a year involving replacing the stereo amp under the passenger seat. I called a few places that blew me off because I had a stripped bolt that might be an issue. But Xcell was willing to take a look at it. Once on-site, they estimated a couple of hours to install it. They did it in an hour and the cost was very reasonable. I was very pleased with the staff's friendliness and communication. My building super recommended Xcell from his experience with an insurance-related repair he needed. I will definitely consider calling Xcell if I need any repairs in the future. I don't know if my experience was unusual but they were swamped. It took me a week to get an appointment. Take that into account! read more

I bought my used 2014 BMW X3 M sport from a used dealership in New Jersey. Our first long drive saw us broken down in the middle of Massachusetts. The dealership took six weeks to tow the car back and review at their service department, where they spent that time trying to figure out what was wrong with the car. They later decided to send it to BMW of Springfield where it stayed there for a further two weeks and had some work done. I picked up the car drove it for no more than 500 miles and it broke down again. So I took it to BMW of Brooklyn where they quoted me nearly $7000 to get the car back on the road. I Then took it to Pep Boys and explained the symptoms and they Confirmed almost the same symptoms and were charging me $4600 for the job. Luckily around the corner from where I live is New Xcell Auto Repairs .. Thank god ! Not only did they disqualify all the previous companies repair suggestions, but they also meticulously and by order of cost .. by one by one analyzing what is already been done with the car and what might need to be fixed to get it back on the road (keeping informed and informed of potential incremental potential cost - they carefully evaluated/diagnosed the car. Sadly --but thankfully, they realized the worst case scenario after charging me only $300 in testing as above. The problem was like cancer to a car in that the CPU was malfunctioning. None of the previous auto repair shops (including both BMW dealerships themselves) were able to diagnose the car in such a acute manner. While the CPU itself was expensive at $2000, the work and the duration of time these guys devoted themselves to my car I can never pay back. I think I paid these guys about $1000 in labor and parts (not including the $2,000 I had no choice to pay for an OEM computer direct from BMW) .. all in all and in some cases they removed replaced removed and replaced parts and did not charge me as part of the meticulous devotion to getting me back on the road. While I hope I never see them again ;) .. I can't wait to see them next time. I hope this review helps those struggling to get to the root cause of the problems with their cars but (and) for everything in between ... please do not hesitate to give Eric or Ray a call because they will treat your car and your money like their own. Generally, I've enjoyed taking my car here. The pricing has been fair and they've always been pleasant to work with. The quality of work, however, has been extremely inadequate lately. I was sold aftermarket headlights that failed after 3 months. My headlight covers were damaged. A faulty bolt in a front ball joint caused my wheel to fall off, luckily while driving 5mph--an issue that was left unresolved. I hate to say this, but I wouldn't recommend this mechanic. It's a small shop, with only two repair bays, but unless the job is complicated, or they need to order special parts, if you bring your car in early in the morning, you can often pick it up that evening or early the next morning. I always feel I'm being treated fairly and not being sold into unnecessary repairs. Jok will give you options and explain the different pricing. He'll make a recommendation, but you're the ultimate decision maker. I've been to many auto repair shops over the 20 year I've had a car, and this is by far the best. Joke's brother is the mechanic there and is an absolute mechanical superstar. What does anyone want from a shop other than getting a car fixed and not paying an arm and a leg. I've never been charged "suggested retail price" for parts, and they are honest and fair. And since I'd taken my car there again and again, they cut me breaks. Not only do they have a shop on the corner of Old Fulton and Hicks, but they also have a second garage. Busy? That's an understatement. These guys work so much, the phone is off the hook. It's taken me a while to write this review because I wanted to really put thought into it and give these guys the praise they DESERVE. I highly recommend these guys! First time in my life that I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of or treated like some clueless chick with car trouble. Eric is amazing and the whole staff is courteous and VERY professional. Best of all, they know what they're doing. Where do I start? Ah yes, the annoying (but necessary) yearly DMV inspection. Here's my timeline of events: - Needed oil change, battery changed & fast approaching sticker expiration date - My dealership was supposed to do the inspection for me & change battery but they decided to take my battery out first (instead of after the inspection) - This trips the system up and you have to drive over 50 miles before you can even pass the inspection after battery removal/restart - They told me to come back (even though my sticker was expired already) after I drive around - Got like 4 tickets for an expired sticker in the process - Car now smelled like burnt rubber (which they told me was fine as long as no alert lights come on?) Cue in Xcell.... - Eric was AWESOME! He immediately gave me an estimate A THIRD of what my dealership was charging me for the battery replacement (including labor) - Since I still had not driven enough to pass the inspection he gave me a 10-day extension which protected me from racking up more tickets! - Fixed my broken key (as a courtesy) - Cleaned and fixed the oil situation which was spilling and could have caused a fire! - It was all done fast (1 day) and affordable! My first question is always, will they rip me off? Here, no, they won't! The manager is Eric, a very young, asian man who is very friendly and forthright. If anything, go out of your way to connote your intentions about when you plan to pick up, ect. I tried dropping off over the weekend but due to it's location they 'circle the wagons' and you can't just drop a car off and leave it for Monday. These guys are great! It was a little crowded when we first showed up but the staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and worked with us to get exactly what we needed and then some. We were rear ended by a delivery truck and it bent the whole back trunk of the of the car in, as well as scratched paint and misaligned the bumper just to name a few things. Eric and his team were so professional and thorough. They communicated with us clearly about every cost and potential issue. When we got the car back, it looked even better than before we were rear ended! I would highly recommend these guys and will definitely be back if i have any issues with my car.
