Wow, I'm bummed it's taken me this long to check out Spitfire!! As one of the only one of my friends who stayed in town Christmas week, I was on the hunt for something fun to do solo. I went to a purchase a ticket for the Saturday night Whose Line show, but it sold out! I called and they said they have a few overflow seat accommodations, and I should come anyway. Even sitting off to the side on a chair, I had the time of my life. I truly can't wait to come back. All improv, lots of audience inspo, and just soooo much fun. All the players were great and I'm really looking forward to bringing my friends next time! A few snacks/canned bevvies for purchase. About 30 seats for the show. Had a great time at the Spitfire Comedy Club doing the workshop with my class at Eckerd College. It was a great way to get out of your comfort zone and do many activities that make you realize a lot of things about yourself. I would recommend this for other classes or people who are looking for ways to develop their own brand. read more

Spitfire is a hidden gem in St Petersburg. There aren't that many options in the St Pete area for comedy so I'm glad that Spitfire turned out to be such a solid choice. We decided to checkout their Saturday night show called Who's Line St Pete show and couldn't stop laughing from start to end. When you enter the building, you are greeted by friendly folks behind the ticket counter that check you in. In the lobby, they have a great selection of beers, wines, and seltzer for a reasonable price. After hanging out for a little bit, they let us in about 15 minutes before the show. There are no assigned seats but luckily there is not a single bad seat in the house. The seats were stadium style with enough height between the rows so nobody in front of you can block the stage. The show contained about 6 different "games" with a lot of audience participation. They do not call out anybody in the audience unless you want to volunteer for couple of the games. The comedians were creative, bold, and very witty. We'll definitely be back and will bring friends back with us. read more

I reserved 3 seats for Nov 26th 2022. I was charged the group rate, and was sent a reminder roughly 24 hours before. We arrived at 7:30, which is when we were told the doors would open. There was nobody inside, no lights on, nothing. A crowd formed waiting for the show, and there was no movement or action as we waited past 8, the time the show was supposed to start. We had received no phone calls, no emails, nothing on their website or social media regarding the cancelation. I called twice over the next 2 days and only reached voicemail. They never ended up returning my call or contacting, but they did issue my refund. I was very excited and drove from Southern Hillsborough County for this, but left very disappointed. read more

I went here on a whim! Never heard of Spitfire Theater before, but we passed by on our walk so we dropped in to see their standup comedy. The late show standup comedy was free with a purchase of a beverage. The acts were funny and they engaged the audience! During this time of Covid, they made sure to spread out the guests. Where do I even start, I and my family had never been to a comedy show so we were a little nervous to try one out. Let me just say the whole experience was a 10/10. The place is so cute and clean, they had drinks (wine, sodas) and chips for purchase right when you walk in. It's pretty small but it felt nice and more intimate! Everyone was SO funny and played off each other so well. The crowd also seemed really great and interactive so that made it super fun as well. I would definitely recommend if you live in st Pete or are visiting!! Super funny and a fun activity to do!! read more

Jay Hennessey is the master of ceremonies. A high energy and truly likeable fellow to be sure. Not bad looking either! This is a very intimate venue where aspiring comics, and those troubled souls without psychiatric health care coverage, work out their bits/issues onstage in front of a live audience. Open mic on Fridays starts at 630pm. There's always a paid show after. This is a bunch of mostly local younger people with various degrees of talent. Steve Sergeant is one of our group's personal favorites. Seems like he's going somewhere. Two from our group also try to entertain as well, when allowed onstage. This is like a comedy incubator. When you relax and accept, most of the stuff is pretty funny. Easily offended? Stay home please, Karen. This place is really cool and needs continuous local support. This could be the next SCTV or SNL? Who knows? read more

Its like you're in your best friend's tree house as a kid in this joint. I love this place. It is owned and operated by people with day jobs and competing priorities who are truly in this for the love of the game. Highly recommend spending time here regardless of your appetite for participation in comedy/improv/etc. (though they do offer classes) This place is truly run by friends who feel and act like family. I absolutely adore Spitfire Theater. Watching the shows here has become one of my favorite weekend night activities. On Thursday's, the shows are only $5 each. They are $15 each on Friday and Saturday. Spitfire has a mixture of shows with I believe 7 different shows per week. I have been to 3 different shows at this point and they were all worth the price of admission. The shows are a little less than an hour each. Some of the comedians are funnier than others, but you are bound to laugh a lot. I believe all of the comedians are students at their workshops and programs...but I may be wrong on that. It is cool that there are also comedians that are always in the audience supporting each other. Improvarama (Friday night) and the 8pm Thursday night show (I forget the name, but two teams battle it out to win with different themes) are the shows that I normally end up at out of convenience. With Improvarama you can win up to $100 if you are one of the first people to buy your ticket for the night. It is a lot of fun to have a particular person to cheer for. The Thursday night 8pm show gives you two coins to vote and you can redeem the unused one for a drink in the future. I don't drink, but I love this idea. Every time I come here, I laugh and leave with a big smile. If I had more time (and money), I would probably stay for all the back-to-back shows on the nights I go. The only suggestion I would make to Spitfire is to encourage me to do so by making a discounted package for all the shows ($35 for all 3 shows on Friday; $25 for 2?). Or, maybe some sort of loyalty program? Regardless, I will be back again soon! read more

Small, intimate funky place. Attended the open mic night before the main event. Open mic had several excellent comics and a few not so great comics. The main show tonight was "Big Girl Pants" Pretty funny routines, then 2 fabulous comedians, Jay Legend and Matt Parker, but they were followed up by a very weak and not very funny comic named Amanda. As one who was a touring comic during the golden years of stand-up, late 80's through the early 2000's, I was really disappointed by the comics I saw. The prevailing concept of all the comics, was their penises, their lack of prowess on the dating scene and male gay sex. I'm no prude, but the material was sophomoric at best with little creativity. We're only here for the month but will probably go back to Spitfire a few times. Went to the Improv 7:30 show on Friday, it was extremely entertaining and the performers were so talented and professional. It's great, inexpensive entertainment. I'd also recommend Avid Brewery around the corner for a beer before or after the show. read more

What an experience! Went to show at Spitfire for the first time a few months ago and laughed so hard I cried. Now I find myself returning again and again.
