I let my son, Spud, choose where we would eat for his birthday, and he picked Laziz. That turned out to be one of the easiest five-star reviews I've ever written. We started with the fried cauliflower and zaatar fries, both served with an incredible dipping sauce that disappeared embarrassingly fast. The cauliflower was perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, tender inside, and honestly good enough to order again on its own. For my meal, I ordered the shakshuka. It arrived bubbling hot in a cast iron skillet with rich tomato sauce, flavorful meatballs, perfectly baked eggs, and warm grilled pita for scooping up every last bite. I've had shakshuka before, and this was easily one of the best versions I've tasted. Every bite was comforting, hearty, and packed with flavor. Spud went with a Laziz salad alongside another helping of the roasted cauliflower, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Everything that came to the table looked thoughtfully prepared, fresh, and beautifully presented. What made the experience truly memorable, though, was our waitress, Omri. As a Deaf customer, it's always a pleasant surprise when someone can communicate directly in sign language. Omri signed with us, made us feel genuinely welcome, and provided exceptional service from beginning to end. That personal connection meant a great deal to me, and it absolutely elevated an already wonderful meal. I was so impressed that I happily double-tipped her. Phenomenal! I love finding good, healthy food with loads of veggies at restaurants, particularly when traveling. This spot was right around the corner from where my coworker and I had been, so it worked out perfectly. It's a sit-down restaurant, not order at the counter but it all works out. We tried their dip trio, one with hummus, one beets, and the showstopper, Muhammara which consists of roasted red pepper, pomegranate molasses, onions, garlic, and walnuts. I could subsist on this and this alone. For my entree I ended up with the Mediterranean platter (hummus, basmati rice, tabbouleh salad, vegetables, chicken, and pita) that was very tasty. I do wish I had tried their fried cauliflower after talking to some locals, but the chicken was good as well. Good service, nice atmosphere, and simply a great spot. Came on a week day and our service was incredibly slow despite other tables around us being attended to quickly. It took about 15 minutes for us to get water and then another 15 to place our order. We ordered a dip platter to share along with the shakshouka with lamb meatballs and lamb burger. Everything was just okay in our opinion, and they don't leave salt and pepper on the table which was desperately needed. The best thing on the table was the beet hummus dip. My friends and I went Saturday night for dinner and had a lovely time! We ordered the dip trio with the beet, baba ganoush and the muhamara. My favorite was the beet dip but they were all delicious! The pita bread was nice and yummy too! For dinner I just had the meatballs, one friend had the steak and the other had a platter of some sort. The meatballs were fantastic but the tzatziki from my friends dish definitely help. The steak was so undercooked it was almost raw. It was almost blue. This was my second time here. Great food, excellent service and very clean spot. I came for lunch both times. More like late lunch and ordered the salad bowl with lamb meatball with a side of rice. I also got the sampler. Everything is delicious and tastes fresh here. I definitely loaded myself before my trip out of Salt Lake. In Salt Lake City and located Laziz Kitchen for a light and rewarding lunch. They have several locations, 9th Street worked for us. It was an overcast day, but an outdoor patio table with an umbrella worked out well. The menu has a varied selection with many intriguing choices. The beet dip with tahini, garlic and lemon juice was being served to a neighboring table and was a must try. The topping of fried garlic pushed this over-the-top. We also selected the lightly fried yet not battered cauliflower florets with salt, pepper and cumin dusting was nicely done. The tahini dressing was a good addition. Splitting a lamb burger mixed with cilantro, caramelized onions, sun dried tomato, crisp fried beets, feta and yogurt sauce was perfectly cooked. The flavor was good, able to taste the lamb and the contrasting crunch made us smile. An additional napkin was needed. The staff was very friendly, gave suggestions when asked and left us alone to talk. Laziz Kitchen is the TOP Mediterranean restaurant in SLC. The calm setting, great food and innovative flavor combinations should be shared with everyone. When we are back in town, Laziz Kitchen will definitely be on our list. The kafta was different with what I tried in Lebanon but it was soft and tasty , the rice and lentils and onio which 8snvery common in west Asia countries like Iran, Lebanon and Syria and I liked it very much. Lebanese churros was something new and I belive the portion is too much for one person and needs little bit more cinnamon. Okay, everyone needs to come here for a fantastic lunch! I am Lebanese and grew up eating several of the dishes we ordered. They did them justice and then some. The grape leaves, the beet dip, lamb meatballs, lentils and rice were all 10/10. I got the salmon taco, best fish taco I've ever had. I'm going to try and replicate the slaw it was topped with. Low stars for GF, better stars for food quality. The Mediterranean platter is labeled as GF. However when I received the online order, the meal had pita bread on top. I called and the server verified that the pita is NOT GF. She also informed me that the rice base has vermicelli noodles and therefore that part also isn't gluten free. I asked them to update the online menu to be more clear, she said she would pass on the info. Everyone else in the group loved their food! But wanted to give a warning for the GF people out there. P.S. it might matter what platform you use to order - the server mentioned something about that. I don't know what platform was used as someone else in the group did the order. I've gotten their wraps, their sampler dips, and their salads, but today I mixed it up and got their Zataar Roasted Veggie Bowl and it was delicious. Basmati rice, potatoes, brussell sprouts, onions, with I believe a tahini dressing? You also get your choice of protein and I chose their cauliflower but they have falafel, chicken, and beef as options as well. My friend got their wrap and it is HUGE! It came with sweet potato fries and I of course stole some and the dip they have for the fries is delicious. My friend really enjoyed her wrap and saved half for later. My biggest tip: GET THE BEIGNETS! They are absolutely amazing. They come out fresh and hot and perfectly flakey and crispy. "I wish I could give you a review" - My Uber driver who was clearly not familiar with this part of town. He did seem a bit surprised that someone who had never been to Salt Lake City before would choose this restaurant over many of the others listed as "quintessential" in the local food scene. But you get a feeling sometimes. In Yelp we trust. I started with the grilled sheep cheese. It's marvelous, almost like a bread cheese and when you spread it with the seasoned tomato paste, it takes you to another level. The lamb burger was creative, firm texture more reminiscent of a steak than a burger and complimented by beet "chips" on the burger that were standout for leveling up the flavor. I sat in the front corner, which is situated a bit like the Godfather seat you'd expect in a mafia film. Back to a wall and tucked away out of view from the main restaurant. Ya gotta see it. My boyfriend and I enjoyed this place but there were a few minor points of dissatisfaction. The service was a bit slow and you have to order at the counter. It was a little annoying that they use the Square tablet for payment that sort of makes you guilt tip despite being counter service. The food tasted mostly good but it took a really long time for it to be made, and I noticed their kitchen staff standing around and talking, which may have delayed the food being made. They were not that busy with customers when we were there. As for the food itself, some of the dipping chips in our dip sampler were cold and stale despite being fried-- they were not easy to eat and required quite a bit of tearing with teeth. The main dishes (my laziz wrap and my boyfriend's platter) were good tasting with great sauces, but I noticed that his dish was heavy on rice and very scarce on chicken. This place is falling apart. So sad. They no longer greet or seat you at the door. There's a sign that says order at counter seat yourself. So we did, but all the tables were dirty and sticky. Our appetizer came in about 5-10 minutes, but our food didn't come for 30 minutes after, and there was no body there! When our meals finally came my husbands lamb burger was hard and dry, the bun was hard and stale, I had a bite and told him to send it back, but he wouldn't. I had a veggie bowl with salmon and my salmon was dry, AND to top it off I bit into a little bone! What!? Inside a veggie bowl with salmon? Where did that bone even come from?
