The cafe is run by a lovely couple, and the wife does the cooking - you can taste the care in every bite. They fed us with the utmost warmth, constantly offering to refill anything running low on the table, even when we'd already had plenty. Delicious new spot in Millcreek with amazing food. We don't have enough Mediterranean-type options in the neighborhood, so this is a welcome addition. We decided to try the chicken shawarma plate and a falafel wrap. Both were very tasty and flavorful. I also enjoyed a little complimentary coffee while we waited for our (to-go) order and visited with one of the owners. They're so friendly and professional. What a phenomenal experience! Food is my love language, and this place made me feel so loved. We came in as a large party, and Ray, the owner, was incredibly accommodating. He made us feel like family from the moment we sat down. The food itself was outstanding. We ordered the mixed platter, chicken shawarma plate, mixed skewers plate, ba'lawa, and chai beiruti, and every single dish was bursting with flavor. He also treated us to samples of his cardamom-infused coffee, which was such a nice touch. And as we were leaving, Ray gave me an Eran mint yogurt drink, a sweet send-off that really summed up how generous he was the whole visit. We wanted to try something new and this restaurant popped up in the area with great reviews. It's the cutest cafe in canyon rim in a shopping center with quite a few other restaurants. The restaurant is tiny with seating inside and outside but it's incredibly cozy. The owners are just the sweetest offering us a taste of their coffee as a Lebanese tradition. I ordered the beef kafta and my hubby ordered the chicken shawarma. The food is prepared to order. When I tell you it's fresh this is the freshest food I've ever tasted. Even the side salad was not premade, they chopped all the ingredients after we ordered. Even the meat was cooked fresh. As a result the meats were so juicy and flavorful. The staff was just so friendly, kind and personable. It's rare to find such a cute restaurant with reasonable prices and staff that make you feel like family. Talk about a happy accident! We randomly discovered Verona Cafe, a total hidden gem tucked away in a Millcreek strip mall (3300 South). It might be a small space, but it delivers huge flavor and the warmest hospitality! We tried the grape leaves, mixed shawarma plate, and the hummus with beef shawarma & pine nuts--everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. To top off a perfect meal, we had their homemade baklava paired with cardamom-infused drip coffee, and even got to chat with the friendly owner. 10/10 recommend checking this place out. The restaurant was clean, but not very busy, yet. (It could be due to the horrible construction that has made it difficult to get to many businesses on 33rd south). I had a matcha drink, a shimmery strawberry mocktail, avocado toast, non traditional bruschetta, limoncello cake, mini pancakes with Nutella and a Philly sandwich with home made fries. The fries and avocado toast were my favs. The mocktail was the prettiest drink I've ever had. It had this shimmery glittery mix in it that was both pretty and fun.
