Wasn't that impressed with the food or the service. It's a bummer but I feel like baja has gone downhill post pandemic.

The food was amazing. I had the combo. Steak was so tender and flavorful. Hubby had the garlic shrimp. Loved it. The waiters were attentive and helpful. Tequila shots were a bonus with anniversary shot glasses. Definitely recommend it. Strolling musicians were wonderful. Ambience was great. Outside and even fed the seagulls. Welcome to Gringolandia, just south of the border. Is that wrong? Maybe, if you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine at a fair price. Splash provides, neither. Meh gringo-mex food at higher than meh prices. A Philly cheese steak in Baja - really? A very showy place with LOUD music catering to a stereotype of the American visitor who only wants a place where they can shout/yell over the music, eat chips & salsa, get drunk and act out of control. It is a haven for local, retired ex-pats who like booze too much. Notice how so many of the other reviews make such glowing remarks about the view, clean toilets and waiters speaking English. WHAT!!! are you kidding me? This is a restaurant and it should be rated on its food, first. Notice that the same reviews downgrade the food experience? So why does anyone recommend Splash? You can sit on a local beach and speak English to your American friends if that is what impresses you. There is a certain clientele worldwide who wants a place like this. Cannot recommend this establishment unless you meet the shallow YELPER criteria above. They moved the restaurant to a part of the coast where the waves no longer splash on the building. No longer have live music. Competent & attentive service is missing most days as the staff spend too much time on their cell phones and chatting with each other. So much for the quaint charm. We came back to celebrate my Wife's Birthday after being gone for 6 months. Service was poor (2 stars) food was great (would guve 4 stars for the food). Bartender at upper level was a rookie, who used sprite to make Premium Margaritas. What's up with that? Had to ask too many times for water, butter & other simple things. A must visit every time I'm in the area. Although the prices are higher than they once were (thanks to us Americans!) the view alone is worth the price. I am a fairly large eater and two fish tacos was more than enough.y wife's hamburger was excellent and the potato wedges/ fries were superb. The Splash margarita was STRONG and tasty. First thing you'll notice about this place is its proximity over the water. We sat inside by a window seat and saw dolphins swim by. 4 of us started off with margaritas (my husband and I with a cadillac margarita specifically) and all of us agreed their drinks are VERY stiff. I've never been "affected" by one drink as much as here before. I had two fish tacos (one grilled and one fried) and that was plenty to keep me full alongside the complimentary chips and salsa. My husband had a chile relleno plate with rice and beans which he also enjoyed. Our table also shared an octopus appetizer which came in a rich creamy broth. It was delicious. Best fried calamari I have had. It didn't look typically like calamari that you would get in the States, but the breading was quite light and flavorful. The ceviche was plentiful and flavorful. Really, really strong drinks. Highly enjoyable experience and the views were out of this world. read more

Gosh, I think my grilled fish tacos swam in the ocean two minutes before it made to a tortilla. So fresh, moist and flavorful. Patio overlooking the ocean with dolphins swimming feet away - amazing view. Wish the patio glass was cleaner to see thru. read more

Just being real honest with you folks here because I know that's what you expect. I went today for lunch And was very disappointed. Basically American food at American prices. I had the shredded beef tacos but for eight dollars it was just OK. I can get amazing four dollar tacos in San Diego. I really wanted to like this place. read more

Came here and stopped for a quick drink before heading down to La Maison. Super clean! Awesome view! Amazing Service! I didn't get a chance to try the food but maybe on the way home I will. Passed by for some food and the food wasn't the best. I didn't enjoy eating here and much as I wanted to. The view is beautiful but it was extremely windy and cold on the 2nd floor outside. Went to the bottom back and was being splashed by the water the whole time. I know the place is called splashes but honestly didn't expect to be getting wet. The seafood here is always good and fresh. The restaurant is one of my favorites in Baja and I enjoy eating here, often. I'd give them a Big 5 for their delicious food, a Medium 4 for service and a small 3 for inside decor. However, their newer outside Patio dining, bar and dancing area is very lovely and it has a beautiful whitewater ocean view. read more

I had the seafood soup and my family had the lobster it was excellent. my grandaughter had the breakfast for kids it was 5 dollars had two big pancakes and eggs. Making their rustic outdoor patio section a true picture of what the Mexican coast does best, which is romance! They had a decent glass of wine, which made my day! Enjoyed sharing the Shrimp Ceviche, Shrimp Tacos, Guacamole & Lobster w Flour Tortillas, Rice & Beans... Was nervous about eating Salad but had no problems after consuming the Caesar Salad so they must use safe produce here... The service was absolutely impeccable and the music was lovely! It was strange that all the smoking was being done inside the restaurant but great because it left the patio incidentally smoke free! Would definitely recommend if you are inclined to Seafood and willing to overlook the few standard oddities which are typical down south... read more

Splash is a beautiful location with a tourist centric menu and a better than average bar. On a bluff above the crashing surf the view is spectacular. The drinks are very good and reasonably priced. In my opinion, the food is mostly just average. My personal favorite at Splash is the Seafood soup. The broth is flavorful and is supports a healthy portion of seafood and veggies. The lobster bisque is also quite good. I find their Mexican dishes to be average at best. One exception is the Tuesday night Carnitas special which is good and plentiful. Generally, Splash would not be my pick if I were choosing where to eat, but I will go their if friends I'm dining with pick the restaurant. read more

Two stars because the service was good. Stopped by to see what the fuzz was about and I was sadly disappointed. The shrimp ceviche smelled and tasted extra fishy, past it's date of consumption. The 12oz cans of soda were $2 USD which Is a RIP OFF here in Mexico. I don't know how the Mexican locals even afford to eat here. For the price of food and drinks I'd rather go to restaurant next door. They have better quality food and their outside seating is phenomenal. I don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

This restaurant is top notch! We really wanted breakfast, their French toast where amazing! You must try the machaca as well, with the home made tortilla. The restaurant is taking precautions for covid, I loved it. Our waiters,ALL of them where so amazing. I can go on and on. The view was AMAZING!!!! The food is not expensive what so ever!! This is a hidden gem located in Puerto Nuevo Mexico , right on the beach. this place has some of the best Mexican food I've ever tasted with a spectacular view overlooking the ocean while you eat .I would literally drive 2 hours just to go eat at this place that's how good it is! As you walk in, there is very cool vibe you get they have lights that light up the entire bar and the dining area. If u look out the windows you see nothing but an ocean view and during the sunset it is very awesome! Now to the food I ended up ordering their fish burrito with everything on it and a side of their seasoned fries! Because of the prices I literally thought the fish burrito would not be nearly enough to feed me so thats why i got the fries... The burrito was about 3 US dollars! But do not let the cheap prices fool you the food was phenomenal quality. As the burrito came out the presentation was nice it took up the whole size of the plate I'm talking at least the size of a football lol and the fries came on a giant plate as well definitely enough to feed 3 people the amount of food I received. Overall I am very impressed with this place and will be returning soon I am obsessed with their food! Soo good read more

This place has faster WiFi than my hotel! It also has amazing views of the surf crashing up against the rocks below. And I never even knew they had an upstairs bar & patio- enjoying that tonight. They got football on tvs, live acoustic Mexican music upstairs and live American music downstairs. Oh, and great food and drinks too. This is a popular place with gringos and ex-pats. read more

One of my favorite bar/restaurants in Baja, I walk in with my G Friend after a 3 month absence and the bar staff REMEMBERS me......Hmmmm, well at least they acted like they did.I was a little suspicious......but when he correctly remembered BOTH our drinks???? Holy crap......they actually did. That in of and by itself is AMAZING considering the amount of customers that come through that place. Now that I've been 5 or 6 times in the last year.......it's like seeing old friends every time I walk through the door. Love it! GREAT food........GREAT drink, GREAT prices, GREAT live music. Splash is one of our go to places in Baja. It has a good mix of expat gringos and locals alike. The restaurant is not big and the inside seating is limited, so it's a good idea to get here early. Summer is better since there is plenty of outdoor seating. There is a bar in the back which also hosts live music. The bartenders are very generous on the tequila when ordering margaritas. The place itself is kind of hidden so you have to keep a look out for the sign which is painted on a wall near the road, it's just passed a toll road exit about 5 minutes south of Primo Tipia. Then you have to drive down a dirt road to a parking lot where an attendent will make sure that you get a spot. The restaurant faces the ocean on the edge of a cliff. The menu is mostly seafood items including shellfish, fish and lobster. You have to try the Seven Seas Soup which is delicious and filled with shellfish,fish broth and topped with half a lobster tail. The steamed clams lobster bisque and black sea bass is also delicious. The seafood are of highest quality and flavorful. And the prices are reasonable including the drinks. Two Margaritas came out to about $6. Definitely a must try and a good alternative to Puerto Nuevo. Only downside is they are cash only. read more
