This is a great facility, but I am rating it a 3 because the kids really don't spend that much time in the water. With the amount of time spent waiting for their turn, the quality of time received during their 30 minute lessons really make you wonder. I pulled out my son and will be putting him in private lessons. I do have to add the staff are very sweet. read more

We are enormously pleased with Splash and have been coming here for a long time. I read the other reviews and I just don't agree with the vast majority of the negative reviews. To start, you know, up front that there is a 30 cancellation policy. You sign a contract in the beginning that states this and the EXPLICITLY tell you. I have heard them do it for new families many times. The instructors are patient and can take quite a bit of gruff from some seriously poor behaved children. The deck staff are observant, attentive and step in when there is cause to do so. I have never seen a child's head "forced" underwater. There necks are supported and they are quickly dipped. This review is long overdue. Had my son here when he was a baby just to get used to the water. Then we took him out and had him take private lessons. He had made significant progress. After I had my second son, we decided it would be convenient to have them take class at the same time. Should have stayed out. They had wasted all summer. Very little progress and whatever bit of progress we had came after our Hawaiian vacation when my husband worked with them. After a recent run in with their "deck supervisor" (this is where everyone bows down) I've had it. This place isn't concerned with the kids progress. They are only concerned with having them take more classes so they can make more money. A piece of advice for splash, if your supervisors have an attitude problem don't have them talk to parents. People will leave. There's enough competition around... oh yeah and when the parent is there watching the toddler swim 20 feet under water without coming up for air, don't tell them the kid won't get their ribbon because they will have a hard time holding their breath especially after the instructor says they are ready... I was chocked when the teacher on the first lesson with my 3 year old kept pushing his head underwater , without even showing him how to breath . On the 3 d time my kid started screaming and protesting , but she kept pushing his head with open mouth underwater. My son came to the school full of excitement , and he left this place historically screaming , begging me never come back again. Of course, they don't have a free trial lesson, they only have a month by month payment plan, so I had to pay almost $100 for this nightmare. read more

My kids have been going here for 1/2 a year. But before that we were here for about 2 years. The quality of this place has gone down hill. They do not teach but expect kids to cater the teachers demands. It's like the teachers all band together against the parents. They just want your money. 1.) agree with another reviewer: poor operation. for a 30-min group session, my kid swam ~5 minutes. Other time he was just instructed to sit there. The lesson quality is thus very poor. One good thing I think is that their instructor is quite nice although another school's instructor had to correct the stroke my son learned. I give two stars because of their instructor. 2.) unreasonable customer service: After a few months with this school, my wife decided to stop and transfered to another much better one. She told the staff that she wanted no class in july. The staff asked her when the first class date in july takes place and asked her to fill in that date as the date to stop. It turned out that they still charged full month July to our card. My wife called and it took one month for them to get rid of part of that charge, still keeping the first class in july. My wife told the manager that it was the school staff who instructed her for that date when she already told the staff that no class needed for july. But that does not matter for them. read more

My son started swimming lessons almost two years ago, and he has improved tremendously. He used to be very afraid and didn't go past the steps, and now he loves swimming. All the different teachers he's had thus far have been good. I only wish they had more availability for the times that work for my family, but because I like the place I have been able to accommodate his lessons to my family's schedule. read more

I wish we could undo all the harm that they did! I wish we had gone elsewhere, our daughter is so much worse off than she was to start. Because of Splash, she now has a terrible phobia of the water that we are going to have to painfully work through with a private instructor. To make things worse, they also have terrible business practices. When we talked about the problems our daughter was having with their techniques (they use the same techniques for every child as far as I can tell instead of adjusting to their needs) they told us to move her into another class for another 30 days. I said just to be safe, I wanted to put in our cancellation notice for the end of that 30 days and they said okay. They didn't mention anything about needing to have something in writing. At the end of the 30 days she was WAY worse than before, completely terrified of the water and shaking uncontrollably when she got near. I checked to make sure it was our last class and they said they didn't have any record of us putting in our 30 day notice and that they needed to have something in writing in order to do a 30 day notice! I'm sure this is in the paperwork we signed, but they should have told me this on the phone when they said I was putting in my 30 days! It just seems dishonest and sneaky. I asked them if abiding by this policy was worth losing us as a customer for life and they said yes! Well good riddance to Spash Swim School! We will not be back and all of our friends will be hearing about our experience! I wish we could make you pay for the private swim lessons to undo all the harm you did in causing our sweet 3 year old to be terrified of swimming. Ended up pulling our kids out of this place because of so many reasons. (1) They don't allow any make up at all. If your kid is sick and unable to swim, you can't make up for it. (2) The pool is too crowded. (3) Not enough changing room or table for babies. The changing area is dirty. (4) Disorganize - they don't seem to have a set teaching structure. They don't provide updates on the progress of your child. Your child's skills may have advanced, but he/she may not move to the next level unless you ask. There is only one person monitoring all the classes. (5) It's chaos in between sessions because they allow parents in/out of the pool area which I find to be a safety hazard. When classes are over kids who are trying to get out and get to their parents are having a hard time because the kids and their parents for the next sessions are in the way trying to get in. They need to have a better operating procedure for this. (6) 5 showers in one stall. Gets overly crowded to a point where you can't even get to the shower or your child. I don't recommend this place at all. Overall, it is very apparent that the owner of this establishment does not care about customers as much as the money they are bringing in. It's all about what's convenient for them as much as the customers. read more

Place is a zoo. I do not agree with the method they use of forcing a child's head under water on the first class.

Our daughter has been taking lessons at Splash for over two years now. It's a great school and she really enjoys her swim lessons. We started her in the Water Babies class which was a lot of fun. The pool is a good depth for the parents to stand comfortably and hold their babies. (I tried the baby class at American Swim Academy in Dublin and the pool was so shallow that it was very uncomfortable to kneel in it for very long). At 3 1/2, she is able to swim for short distances on her own with her face down in the water. There is low turnover in the instructors, which is good, and most of them seem to really enjoy what they do. The only reason I didn't give 4 stars is because we started her at Almaden Valley Athletic Club in San Jose and their curriculum was 5 star and the kids moved along in ability much more quickly there. But since we moved north, we've been happy with Splash! read more

My daughter goes here for swimming for last few months. The front desk staff is very rude and they don't share any feedback on how your kids are doing. If you ask, they will just say we are working with your kids. They want your kids to remain in same level for very long so they can make more money on your kids. Kids get demotivated doing same thing again and again. As parent you can't get any feedback and you don't want your kids to send some place for no learning. If I had a choice I could have given this place 0 star. Kids will not learn much here, don't waste your money and time at this place. read more

Both our daughters have been taking swimming lessons here since they were 3-4 years old. Great teachers and good management. The teachers care about the students' advancement and pay attention their swim skills. They will move the students to the next level only when the students are ready, so don't rush it. Let them enjoy themselves at their appropriate levels and you'll be happy with the time invested. read more

My daughter has been going to Splash for a year and it is amazing the progress she has made. The most important thing... she loves her lessons and she looks forward to going every week. In one year, she has gone from screaming and hollering to diving into the pool headfirst and swimming to the other side. i think her strokes need work but hey, she's only five and she's water safe in that she can get to the side of the pool. The instructors seem to know how much to push and when to push. I only gave them four stars because they are expensive and they don't let you make up a missed lesson. There are pros and cons to this swim school like all schools. I switched my kids from Dublin Swim Academy to Splash because it seemed Splash focus and place more emphasis on swim techniques. The pool lane is not as restricted as DSA where my kids's teacher shared a swim lane with another class. Therefore the kids couldn't swim from one end to the other. I feel it will lessen the swimmer endurance for long distance swim. Splash swim lanes are open for one class per lane and it's a long swimming distance. I like this factor and noticed my kids were able to swim and swim until they were tired and still haven't reached the other side. This practice is beneficial for the kids in term of building strength and endurance. One thing I absolutely hate is the muddy floor after showering! The shower is shared and small, we always had to wait a short while to shower for the kids. The floor in the changing area is wet, slippery and unsafe for adults and the kids. My son fell once and so did I. I brought it up to management but nothing changed. If you're a neat freak, you will hate it here. Splash definitely doesn't keep it clean and spotless like DSW where there is always a cleaning person roaming around to clean the glass window and dry the floor. DSA's shower area is also nice, the bathroom are spacious and clean with private shower as well. SPLASH doesn't have a nice and well kept facility. However, swim techniques are more important to me so I chose Splash over DSA. I was a little sad leaving DSA because my boys loved his teacher. They never really mentioned any teacher's name at Splash. The teachers at Splash are more strict and serious. read more

My son who is 5 really enjoys his instructor. Lessons are only 30 minutes long. It would be nice if the place had a second pool so the kids could stay longer and swim with an adult and practice further. Splash Swim School is a great place for children to learn lifesaving swimming techniques while having fun! There are a range of class types like Water Babies classes for youngsters aged 6 months to 3 years, these classes are an intro to water and include the parents. After that there are 8 ribbon levels. Children are awarded ribbons for mastery of certain skills. Example: to earn their yellow ribbon, kids must be able to swim 10 feet with their eyes down with strong kicks. This is a great program because kids are not stuck in class sessions. They can move up to the next level as soon as they have mastered the skills. The instructors here are very friendly and loving, but will also discipline children as needed with time-outs. There is some turn-over with instructors because they are high school and college level aged, however, many of the instructors have been with Splash for several years. The instructors are constantly being reviewed and work together to solve challenges so that every child can succeed. Splash provides a wonderful and safe environment for children to learn to love the water safely. The only negatives are on the business side, making up missed classes or rescheduling classes is a hassle. Overall, Splash is a great place! Kids can come in kicking and screaming and leave smiling and excited for their next swim class! read more

The value you get compared to other swim schools is great. It's indoors, warm and there is plenty of room for parents to wait in (and wifi). The instructors, especially at the more advanced levels, are pretty good. Some are former competitive swimmers. The only strange thing is there are no makeups so if you need to change a time you are changing it permenantly but then you can move back to your original time after. Its kind of a pain. Otherwise a great value and we often get classes where there are only a couple kids, and sometimes no other kids, so its like a private/semi-private lesson. read more

This place has very poor communication skills and does not inform you of your child's progress in a timely manner. We have been going here almost 9 months. Per the teacher, one of my boys was not keeping up. One of the staff told me in front of other moms they needed to switch him into another class and gave me five minutes to decide. When I told them I needed to think about it , they said they needed to know now as they wanted to put someone else in the class and wanted to make the change for the next week. Not once had the teacher or staff ever reached out to let me know they were thinking of a switch to prepare me and my child. When I told them the new schedule wouldn't work for us and I thought we should take a break, they said I needed to give 30 days notice. I called the next day and asked to speak to a manager, upset the more I thought about how they had informed me of the switch. The girl who had spoke to me the day before answered and said she never said I couldnt think about it (not true as another mom who was there backed me up) and she didn't think I would quit. I insisted my boys stay in their separate classes until our 30 day notice was up. They demand we give them 30 days notice for leaving, they should give proper notice for any changes they might want to make to their classes. I would never recommend this place. read more
