Whenever you're in the mood for noodle soup you may first think of chicken noodle, ramen, phô... but what about chinese hand pulled noodle soup? That's quite a mouthful, like their noodles! I believe the same broth is applied to all bowls so the only options you have to choose are either: hand pulled/hand cut noodles and your choice of meat, I prefer hand pulled. Now, I've had the house noodle bowl in the past in an effort to sample their meats. My conclusion is that the ribs are their best option. They are deceptively flavorful and fall off the bone easily. Their noodles have a great chew and mouthfeel while the broth is delicately beefy/porky. I love to jazz it up with the table vinegar and chili oil. As for serving size, these bowls are giant so you will leave full. If you still have some room though check out their oden selection. I like the fish cake/ball and chinese sausage varieties, they come with a lovely sweet and salty chili sauce that packs a punch. These noodles are truly splendid and even more so in the colder months.

I always order the spare rib hand pulled noodle and it's very satisfying. The spare ribs are very tender and I sprinkle the hot chili sesame oil directly on it. If I'm feeling extra hungry I'll add a braised egg to my soup. Our other favorite is the beef flank. Service is extremely quick and friendly.

I've been coming here with my family since they opened, and can say with confidence that their fresh hand pulled noodles are fully on par with those you can get in Chinatown. It's the perfect place to come on a cold winter night- very nice and inviting yet clean and modern. The staff are quick to take your order, and the hot noodle soups are ready almost instantly. We usually get a cold jellyfish salad or cucumber appetizer and hand pulled noodle soups all around. Most recently I got the beef hand pulled noodle soup with a braised egg, and it was delicious. The broth was so rich and flavorful, and the beef flank practically melts in your mouth. At splendid noodle you can order extra meat, veggies, noodles, or an egg to have with your soup. I highly recommend the braised egg, as it seemed to be braised in the same deliciously spiced beef stock that I had in my soup. The baby bok choy, scallions and cilantro are all so fresh and bright, never wilted. All of the flavors were perfect. The roast duck soup is excellent, and so is the beef with extra tendon. Also a side note... you know it's a legit Chinese restaurant when they've got the dark vinegar, homemade chili oil (which they sell for $10 a jar), and TOOTHPICKS at each table!! Jokes aside, we love splendid noodle and are always eager to return when in stony brook.

Meat in the "veggie broth." Not vegetarian. They lie.

Meat in their "veggie broth" I spoke with the employees at length before ordering. I asked if they did a veggie broth. They said yes. I asked if there was any meat in the veggie broth at all. They said "no meat." I asked if it even used meat stock. They said no. So I ordered it. And I ate it. And I get halfway through, only to find something very meat-like in my mouth... I was wary to begin with. I ordered from them before, and the veggie noodles tasted... off, to me, as a vegetarian. That's why I had a long talk with them in advance about the broth. I even put in the notes for the order, "Vegetarian. No meat at all. Veggie broth. No meat broth." This restaurant is disgusting. Don't eat here.

Food (5/5): Delicious noodles that I very much enjoyed. We ordered it to go and the food remained delicious even though we traveled from Long Island to Jersey before eating it. We ordered the spare rib and duck noodles. The broth was flavorful and the spare rib meat was fall of the bone. Top notch noodles. It was cool seeing the man make the noodles in front of you. Service (4/5): They took our order efficiently and no issues with getting the food out for to go. They packed sauces, utensils, and put the food in good containers. They nicely separated the noodles and ingredients from the soup. Ambiance (4/5): Nice spacious restaurant with plenty of seating when we saw it. We ordered for to-go but it seems like it would've been nice to sit in the restaurant.

They have great chop sticks and chili oil, but that is about it. This is a take out restaurant. My group should have turned around when at 6:30 Saturday night we walked into an empty dining room. The three workers scattered when we stepped in. Cafeteria tables, linoleum floor plastic cups. Hoping to find a diamond in the rough we sat. In the pause while we sat the female server asked if we were ready to order. This was a theme the whole time, the looming lady just staring over our shoulder.. the noodle slapping show started up for a few minutes. The noodles were the only redeeming quality of their ramen dishes. We ordered angus beef, regular beef and a lamb ramen. We got gray shaved grizzle, brown sliced grizzle and gray tender lamb along with a sprinkle of green in a canned broth. As mentioned the noodles were good. For 12$-15$ per you could easily fill your belly along with every gap between your teeth. We each learned why toothpicks were on the table. Notable decor included pictures of the noodle bowls looking their best along one wall and every piece of restaurant inventory stacked along the rest. There was a Pho restaurant nearby which will be our next try. But Splendid Noodle will get not one more dollar.

It's okay but nothing to write home about. I wanted ramen and considering I'm not familiar with the area someone recommended this place. I tried the noodle dish with ribeye. It was okay broth, noodles, bok choy, cilantro. I also ordered a pork bun which was a little salty and the pork was overcooked. It wasn't terrible but I wouldn't order it again. I think because I had in mind what I wanted my expectations were very high.

We ordered the splendid house noodles (which came with various cuts of meat, shrimp, and a delicious fried egg), the beef flank noodles, and the fish ball Oden. All of it came out super quick (less than 10 min) and it was delicious. You can see the chefs hand pulling the noodles in the kitchen while you wait! Generous portions of noodles and meat, as you can see in the photos. I would keep eating and discover even more beef pieces at the bottom. Well seasoned and not too salty. Ate it all and felt incredibly satisfied! Also the prices really cannot be beat for these dishes - I will be back!

Found this gem in Stony Brook! Just about 10 minute drive from our home. We are so glad we found this place. Noodles are legit, broth is on point! We will definitely be coming back. And don't forget to try the house chili sauce! (After having the taste of the original broth, of course).

I had the house noodles and expected a bowl filled with veggies, proteins &, of course, noodles. I got a bowl with a few pieces of bok choy, way too much cilantro, a few pieces of scallion, maybe 5 small pieces of beef, a tiny piece of unidentified bone with a small amount of meat on it, some kind of white, feathery thing I can only guess as an animal innards, a very hard boiled egg and noodles. The broth had an odd flavor and was not rich and full bodied like it should have been. The dish really needed salt and the noodles were starchy and had no body. My husband had cold sesame noodles. The sauce was watery and had no sesame seeds or flavor. There was nothing else in the bowl other than overcooked, gummy noodles. His stomach was majorly upset the next day. Very unfortunate as I covet a good noodle bowl. read more

Love does not even accurately describe my feelings when it comes to the meal my boyfriend and I had. The house special was wonderful and my duck dish was also out of this world. Simple flavors and tastes but you can transform each dish to your own level of spicy. I will definitely be coming back again to try more of their options but, if you don't come here to at least get soup on a cold day you are missing out on an amazing meal read more

I always take a trip to This area to run my errands- Trader Joe's, European wax center and Chinese grocery store! Then, I found this just opened noodle shop! Its efficient! First time there and definitely will be coming back. Have had pulled noodles in Chinatown and though not as good they were worthy. I had the shrimp and my husband had the duck. Both were plentiful especially considering the price. I walked away full and satisfied. Service was fast and attentive. Great find! read more

Really pleasantly surprise how good this place is! After finishing the five boroughs bike tour I was so hungry and knew a big bowl of noodles would hit the spot. The hand drawn noodles at this place did it!! Broth was rich and delicious, noodles were great texture, and the beef was tender! All the right combination! You have to try the spicy mix beef appetizers - goes well with the bowl of noodles as extra meat too. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area. Give it a try! read more

I'll round them up to 4 stars just because they prepared us a vegetable broth for the vegetable hand-pulled noodle soup and it was delicious. We also got a beef noodle and seafood noodle and both with hand-pulled noodles. Both were delicious and great portions but the seafood is definitely a must try. Their noodles I actually like better than other noodle places in the area because it's more consistent and thinner in size. The reason I don't give this place full 4 stars is because it's a full service restaurant so you have to tip, their prices are a little more expensive than others in the area, and the menu is very limited. A cheap quick lunch is harder to do unless you split a bowl which is very reasonable and you'll be full or semi-full depending on how much you normally eat but I definitely won't be full unless I drink a ton of water with my half. I may be back but there are other options in the area that provide more. read more

Hand pulled noodles a great addition to Stony Brook. True to their word you can watch the master noodle maker actually hand pull noodles. Service is very friendly and reasonably priced. Only gripe is unless you pay for extra meat the amount they give you is quite small. read more

I finally got to try the noodles here at Splendid Noodles. I ordered the cucumber in vinegar , and beef in chili sauce as appetizers. Both excellent, but didn't know the beef had gelatin within the beef. No problem as it tasted great. Cucumber was also a nice hot surprise. Ground pork and noodles was also very good. Should have ate there rather than takeout. But was by myself and in a hurry. Friendly people there and fast service. Will be back. read more

A place that serves only noodles! Nothing more, nothing less. Their menu isn't cluttered and you just have to choose your type of meat. Simple and easy! I ended up eating the duck option. While the broth was quite tasty and there was plenty of noodles per serving, the duck needed more meat! Unfortunately, my bowl had mostly bone and skin. Splendid indeed! I came here on a Saturday night and was seated right away. I ordered the duck hand pulled noodles with a fried egg and my boyfriend ordered the beef flank. We also had the beef slices with the chili sauce as our appetizer. It's good but a tad too spicy. The handpulled noodles were delicious! Everything including the presentation, flavor, portion and price were satisfying. Will definitely be coming here again. read more

The noodles are okay, just different types of proteins on the same broth. The attitudes and service of the waiters are SO BAD. In my last couple of visits with my friends they did not serve us water at all even when we sat and waited for the noodles for around 10mins (we told them we want water when ordering), and when I asked for water when we were about to finish eating, they simply just put our water on the table with a poker face and did not apologize. They should be called bland noodle. The chew on the noodles was good, but the broth had absolutely no seasoning in it. I had the beef flank and it was practically flavorless. The noodles and meat was decent, but how can you have a good soup without a delicious broth? I ended up adding a lot of chili oil in mine just so it had some flavor. I would not go back. read more

I have to say I am not much of a ramen noodle person, but this place is amazing. Flavors are out of this world and service supreme and personal. My daughter dropped her chop stick, and before she picked it up from the floor, our waiter Edward was already there with a new set. Wow! That's what excellent service looks like. This place is fantastic! The noodles are made in-house and you can see them pulling them behind the counter. I had the noodle soup with beef flank, and the broth was savory and the beef was really tender. I also had a can of Wong Lo Cat to drink, which is like a soda can, but it's chinese herbal tea. I also tried the jellyfish appetizer, which I wasn't crazy about, but not because it was bad quality. I think it was just something I don't enjoy but wanted to try out. The place is very small, so you may have to wait to get a seat. Definitely worth it, though. read more

I thought the noodles were good and the broth was delicious. The people who worked there were really sweet, too. My only complaint is that the duck in my soup had a lot of bones in it. Each bite I took--bone. It kind've ruined the meal. I hope the owners read this because I really did enjoy everything else about the soup, but had a hard time getting passed the bones. I wouldn't totally discount this place, but I hope when I go back there are no bones in the duck. read more

I'm glad we gave it a try but will probably not venture back.

Price: I'm uncertain about typical prices in Long Island as I'm more accustomed to NC prices. It's slightly higher for NC prices but is probably reasonable for Long Island standards. I tried their spring rolls which had a nice crisp bite. It was also served with pickled daikon and carrots for a nice refresher. For the entree I got the pho bo vein which had beef meatballs as the protein. The basil, jalapeño slices, bean sprouts and lime slice are on the side, so you can add as much to your liking. The noodles were nice and bouncy. The broth was light and flavorful. We always have great service every time we go. Definitely will be back in the future.

Just had dinner at this small kind of hidden noodle shop and it was amazing. The seating area is small, but it was very clean and organized to put tables together for larger groups easily. I had the vegetable and he had lamb - the noodles were delicious and the broth was rich and tasty. Very good and very fast. read more
