The management doesn't respond to complaints. The room descriptions are not for this facility but for willowbrook. The facility is falling down. The pool has ceiling tiles falling down into the pool and hitting guests. The carpets are not vacuumed often. Vomit has been on corridor rug since we arrived on Saturday. The fire suppression system is leaking in the bowling area--buckets are the solution. Nothing is open -- not the bar, restaurants or outdoor pool. Coffee bar only comes out after 5 pm. Charge exhorbiant resort fee for the state of facilities and fact everything closed. Only positive is arcade employees and one front desk employee. Management non existent. Only activity due to wine fest.

Does not have what is advertised! Dirty outside, cigarette butts outside on steps. Pool area had mold on the floor. The restaurants advertised are closed. Public areas not air conditioned! No reception for TV.

    A very busy arcade.

I am not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling reading a lot of these reviews and not sure why. We came up with some friends and stayed in a villa across the street from the main lodge and had a wonderful time. It was two bedrooms with a hot tub and sauna. It was amazing we walked into a very clean environment and just had to set it up for ourselves for the next couple of days I always feel that people come to certain places with certain expectations that are not easily met also there is very little that can't be fixed so before you complain about it see what can be done to rectify the situation. All we did was enjoy our three days up in the Poconos. We took some drives around the area, cooked some fun meals and went to the main building one night to go to the game room play some. Participated in bingo, trivia but not bowling, which was available to us. The staff here is fabulous and helped any way they could. It snowed while we were up there and the plows came quickly and cleared up everything as quick as can be to make the driving easy for us very easy. This was my first time up here and hopefully we'll be returning next year with our friends. KUDOs to the team at Split Rock Resort.

truly don't know where to begin. When we arrived to check in, they had run out of room keys. Every time we left the room, we had to wait for a security guard to walk us back and unlock it, which continued until about midnight on our first day. The room was extremely outdated and in serious need of improvement. There was a terrible smell throughout the room that was absolutely disgusting. The water was either freezing cold or burning hot, making it impossible to shower comfortably. To make matters worse, out of the nine rooms my family rented, we found bedbugs in seven of them. When I went to speak to the manager the next morning to report the issue, she casually asked if we would like them to wash our clothes and said, "It's not a big deal." That response was completely unacceptable and showed a lack of concern for the seriousness of the situation. Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing and upsetting.

She was only able to do the carousel, walk through the Christmas village (which scared her-- see photo), take a weird truck ride where you see painted cutouts of animals rather than real ones, and see the 15-minute outdoor show. Staff could truly not have been nicer, but my feedback is for management-- the day felt poorly run with little regard for full-priced paying customers. My main feedback: They claimed to be understaffed waiting for international students, but if that is the case, I would have loved to know what was closed before paying to enter or be offered the opportunity to return on a day when I could justify the ticket price. If either of these had happened, I wouldn't be dissatisfied.

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the vibrant atmosphere that felt both family-friendly and tailored to adults. The water park was a huge hit with our two girls, offering a wide array of slides that catered to all ages. Whether it was the thrilling rides or the relaxing wave pool, there was always something to keep the whole family entertained. One standout feature of our trip was the food. In previous resort experiences, we've often found ourselves disappointed by the dining options, but Kalahari shattered those expectations! The variety and quality of meals were truly exceptional. From quick snacks and Starbucks coffee, to gourmet meals at one of their multiple restaurants, every bite was delicious. It was refreshing to find such a diverse menu that pleased my wife, the kids, and me. We also appreciated the thoughtful layout of the resort. It was easy to find comfortable places to relax, and while it did take some hunting , we did manage to find a table each day. The array of jacuzzis was another bonus, with both family-friendly and 21-and-over options. Overall, our stay at Kalahari Resort Poconos was filled with fun and memorable moments. If you're looking for a place that offers a perfect blend of excitement and comfort, this is the spot!

I'm still here at Kalahari Pocono Pines…read more Day-1 We arrived Monday morning at 10 AM. Check-in was fairly easy because there was virtually no one else here yet. When I passed the check-in 2-hours later... The line was very long and the same person was working. They definitely need more people there. I went to use the ladies room after checking in and it was extremely dirty. The cleaning cart was there with no attendant. Went to the indoor waterpark which opens at 10 AM because it's raining outside. The outside was closed. It's the usual indoor waterpark nothing special. The Jacuzzi. Where can I begin? It is an indoor outdoor Jacuzzi. Meaning, you can go straight from the inside through a passageway into the outside. On the inside section.... Only 3-lame-jets were working. PACKED With kids. Outdoor section NONE of the jets were on. I asked the "lifeguard" why the Jets were not on. He said do you want them on? I asked him if he knew the difference between a Jacuzzi and a pool of hot water. He said he would turn them on ... he never did. I cannot emphasize enough, how many children were in there. From a few months old to pre-teens. Horsing around.... I scooped this one girl up that was about to drown 4-years old. She was allegedly being watched by her 12-year-old sister. Her mother was so grateful. Why is the mother not watching her own 4-year-old? I am appalled by this Jacuzzi experience. Hey Kalahari.. Do you think you can have something just for adults? Do the kids not have enough activities to enjoy? No? Do you know how "unhealthy" A Jacuzzi is for children? They have these rules for the kids in the Jacuzzi. Nobody is adhering to those rules, not even the lifeguards. What lifeguard? Jacuzzis are for adults!!!!!!!! We had the buffet for breakfast. We arrived at 11 AM. They close at 12 noon. It was $30 for adults. And $20 for kids under 12. By the time we got there It was slim Pickens. You should not charge me the same amount as everybody else who got more variety before me. Was not impressed with the buffet at all. On the upside. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. Except of course, for the lifeguard who doesn't know the difference between a Jacuzzi and a tub full of hot water. And most importantly, is not adhering to the rules setforth for children in the Jacuzzi. I saved a kid from drowning today.... He should be fired. We will be checking out tomorrow at the prescribed 11 AM. I will add to this review at that time.

Headed to Tomahawk Lake as it was our go to once upon a time. The price PER PERSON (not per car load) was $22 ... and that was NOT including the water park. If you wanted to add on entrance to the water park it was ANOTHER $15 PER PERSON! We were a party of 4 adults and 3 teens and it would've literally been $259 to ENTER the lake!!!!! AIN'T NO WAY! For that price we could've done a real amusement park, a real water park ... a real lotta other things worth $259. Needless to say we ventured elsewhere but wanted everyone to be aware of this absolute absurdity before wasting your time and gas venturing up there.

I regretted it right away. It's ridiculously crowded - no problem with parking as they sure made extra space in the back, but driving to the back woods parking lot I was afraid we were gonna hit someone cos of people walking indifferently on the paths. The tiny "beach" is made of hard packed sand, the texture of a dirt road. There are many garbage cans around, which, I appreciate that as there's nothing worse than trash on the ground, but I also don't want to be sitting next to one. There are some picnic tables in the further grassy areas that seemed more chill but the tables close to the water could not be crammed any closer together. The water where kids are playing in is murky and gross looking, as to be expected cos sediments stir up, but this just does not look clean and is way too full of people. And I would not call this a water park - it's a lake with some dingy play structures on it and some boat rides. There also don't seem to be enough lifeguards for this many kids. Summer prices (July 1-Aug 20) are $20pp over 9yo, and $18 for under 9, but you have to pay additionally for the water slides ($13-$17) and other activities. You might as well take your family to a proper waterpark for this price. Maybe once upon a time it was cute as people seem to have nostalgic memories of this place (and they definitely trade on the camp nostalgia), but it seems the park operator is only interested in packing in as many people as possible to the detriment of the experience. There is good live music with a guy playing old time rock n roll, they have hash browns yay (3 for $2.50), and my toddler had fun regardless of my lack of enjoyment or relaxation, hence the extra star.

Yes, the hotel is slightly older, but contrary to the other reviews, it wasn't as horrible as others have said--maybe it was because we had lowered expectations going in, but in fact we were pleasantly surprised. THIS IS NOT A 5-STAR HOTEL PEOPLE, SO GET OVER IT. It is a decent hotel, one of the least expensive in town, and definitely worth what we paid. PROS: The breakfast: more than just "grab and go." It was scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal/milk, bagels, toast, yogurt, juices, tea, coffee and more. It was buffet style and the staff were on top of refilling food and cleaning tables promptly. The pool: clean, clear, WARM! Very chlorinated-expect red eyes. The rooms: clean, comfortable, pretty much like any other middle of the road hotel. WiFi is free and worked better than cell service in this mountainous area. Tv was new, fridge and hairdryer were standard. Pretty quiet as well. The staff: awesome. The price: terrific. THE CONS: It was a little nerve wracking going up and down the hill to the hotel in the snow (December). They plow, but I'm not sure they salted the road, it seemed icy. We made it fine even though we were in a Ford Fusion and a small light Honda Fit. Yes, the key cards reset and locked us out even though we were booked for 2 days. Guy behind us in line in the lobby was having the same problem. I would suggest to the management, that since they clearly know this is a problem, just tell people when they check in that they could have a problem with this and apologize ahead of time and say that you are working in the problem. The rooms: as stated, clean, but a weird white grainy powder on the top of the bedspread. It was sort of like when you use too much powdered laundry soap and it doesn't rinse out all the way--or maybe the maids sprinkled carpet powder before they left and it overshot onto the bed--I have no idea. It was not IN the bed sheets, so we just shook it off the top and got over it. Then when we unfolded the sofa bed and just re-folded it back up, we noticed that a french fry fell out and there were also a few crumbs on top of the outer blanket in the sofa bed. Again, inside the sheets were clean. Minor, but annoying. Plumbing: toilets were a little slow. One shower (we had adjoining rooms) would not shut off completely and ran a medium stream all night. We felt horrible about all the wasted water, but it was really late and kids were asleep, so we didn't call the desk. :( Structure: I would suspect they have been trying to update and remodel. Room seemed newly painted, but certainly not a perfect paint job (paint on lamps, blotches here and there of dark paint we at first thought was blood, an unpainted water spot above the shower, etc). One old tiny elevator working (and one broken)-- IT REALLY WAS NOT A BIG ISSUE OR PROBLEM. Room heaters were a bit inefficient and inconsistent, but not terrible. Some of the the double-pane windows have become unsealed, so foggy and difficult to see outside. OVERALL: pretty decent for the low cost. No, it is maybe not like a sandals resort, but come on people, look at the room price. Never once saw a bug. Staff was great and extremely accommodating. They seem to be really trying to get the place looking better. It wasn't the Ritz, but it wasn't a roach motel either. WOULD DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN.
