We have our family reunion here every year and there is something for everyone of every age and everyone loves it. Be aware that Split Rock Resort consists of a number of different timeshares as well as a hotel. Willowbrook is the newest and right on the golf course and the one to choose when you are making reservations. I don't like to hear all the complaints like it is too far from the hotel (a good thing) in my opinion. And the shuttle bus is late - we walk or take the car. There are so many activities and so many other attractions in the area from the gigantic Crossings Outlet mall to the Boulder field in the Hickory Run state park and Jim Thorpe. It's a beautiful day trip to hike in the waterfalls of Bushkill falls. And then there is Camelback. And how close a drive it is from NY or NJ or PA. And a lake and boating and indoor and outdoor pools. I could go on. read more

I truly came here hoping to give it 5 stars but I am disappointed. We have 3 small children and was trying to see if this could be a family place in the future. I'm Not sure after my stay. The resort is huge. They have many fun activities daily so that if you prefer to stay on resort you can (we did the Texas Holdem and the guy was awesome) Dont attempt bowling at night, there was a long wait. During the day bowling was empty. Arcade was decent and cheap. Saw night at the museum 3 in the movie theater. Good prices. Ice cream parlor serves breyers and blue bunny ice cream. 2 scoops is $3. Staff- they were all nice. Especially at the movie theater and the Texas Holdem game Restaurants- eh. We didn't eat at them. The one in the main building was 22 a person for a small Buffett. The bell'ago was the Italian restaurant where we were and it was dead. The thirsty moose looked good but we didn't want a bar atmosphere. Lagos was a pizzeria at te main building looked good but we wanted a sit down restaurant. We went to nicks lake house which was a mile off resort around the lake, wouldn't recommend it. Food was decent but they were out of everything and service was incredibly slow! Went to piggys for breakfast and they were overpriced. It did mention that the main building that they were in the process of renovations so hopefully it will look better in the future. The rooms- we stayed at the lakeside lodge and had a beautiful view of the lake. They are outdated rooms but suited our needs. Nice real Christmas trees to greet you. There is nowhere to plug our stuff in and had to unplug other things to charge our phones. TV was a boxed small tv. The mattress was bouncy. Every time I moved my husband would fall into my hole. The hot tub and sauna were good. The indoor pool was warm. It would have been nicer if the attendants would have enforced the no kids in hot tub rule. It was raining and snowing and our room was leaking bad. We went out to the pool and before I left I plugged in my phone but noticed when we got back the wire and phone were wet, then noticed it was all wet along the wall. Immediately called the office and they said they were sending a maintenance man right down... Never came. Eventually we fell asleep waiting for him. This to me is scary because an outlet was getting wet and nobody cared. We had to move all of our stuff, unplug the fridge (which was plugged in there) and pray we didn't get electrocuted. Told the staff upon checkout and they said there was no record we called. That's insane. Why would we not call about something so serious. I specifically said on the phone room 111 at the lodge. Overall the resort was ok. But my families safety was most important and because of that I doubt I'll be back. read more

This hotel is awful. We brought our 3 kids for the water park. Rooms are from 1970 and the walls are paper thin. We could hear kids from a highschool retreat running up and down hallways until 1am. Prank calling our rooms and security did nothing. Throw up was found in the stair well and hallways. I would never ever stay here again and will be happy to spread the word regarding poor quality, poor attention to guests, and lack of care to property. We stayed at the lodge. Horrible, mildew on the wall and was told it was not harmful....any form of mold, mildew is not healthy. We understand they are renovating, but we were not able to shower the entire time due to NO water pressure. & I waited an entire afternoon for a maintenance supervisor that never showed! If anyone doesn't know already, Yelp unilaterally decides what reviews it likes and does not like. So if you don't say what Yelp wants you to say, they will delete your review. Well, I will say it anyway, Split Rock Resort is filthy and needs to be condemned. The water park is ok, but dramatically overcrowded with lifeguards that are younger than the kids that swim there. My experience at the waterpark was that they change rules from day to day, letting little kids go on a ride then deciding they cannot. I found a dirty band aid in the water. The rooms are gross. They needed to be renovated in 1981. The mattresses are sunken in and they clearly are old. The TV is a 1976 tube color TV, and the phone is one that old Bell Atlantic used to sell. The food: well they don't even have chicken fingers for kids. They expect you to have your 2 year old eat at a buffet with steamed mussels and no chicken fingers??? Everyone, save your money and go to Great Wolf. This place is just terrible. We left a day early as well. read more

Don't listen to all the negative reviews, we went there this past weekend during fall foliage. The staff was nice and helpful. Always something fun to do through out the day, we had a blast with every activity! We earned many free items and made so many great memories. We new by the pictures the rooms were going to be outdated and learned that the hotel has gone through a few owners. The current management is doing a great job and really starting to update the hotel. The water park was so much fun, my kids had a great time and we will definitely go back. read more

Stayed for 1 week at the Willowbrook (Building 3). All the staff were very friendly but the place is dingy and very out dated. Our 2 bedroom place had mold in the bathrooms, the couches were stained and the place had an over all bad smell. Went to the Lodge to swim - very dated as well with wet carpet all around the hot tub. When checking out, I commented that it needs to be renovated and the lady agreed and told me if I come back to request building 5 or 6 - they are newer. Doubtful that I would return. read more

Just got back from a Presentation from this place. and very unprofessional people- Rude and disrespective people- though Ptty was nice, she did not really know how to sell it or explain anything- but then when her manager- another Patty came over- she was rude and told us that if we wanted to travel at a Motel 6 it would be cheaper then staying with them- (FYI- we told her we stay inside the disney resort- so I guess staying in Disney is a Motel 6 but staying off the property would be better somehow? didnt really get that dig. And to boot- instead of working with us on a deal she tried only to upsell a more expensive point package which made no sense- only made it easier to say no. As well the checkout lady was extremely rude as well- the worst attitude I ever seen at a presentation- not something I would ever want to be affiliated with- Stay away. The absolute worst place to go if your looking to experience these great Mountains. First issue was two backed up toilets, no problem just get the plunger and get it done. When the plunger wasn't found called the front desk to report that our unit was missing the plunger. Maintenance arrived to drop off the plunger or so I thought. Maintenance stated that the units are not equipped with plungers because of cost, cheaper to keep the plunger at the maintenance office and have them come to the units a do it for you. This is about the craziest thing I have heard. Received a call in the early am to have the car dug out from the snow,a day later and the car is still buried. Not just my car nor are any of the cars around me are free. Repeated calls to the front desk and it's the same standard message that the crew is out on the grounds and you should be free within an hour. This place lacks any type of professionalism or accountability, one guy with 1 snowblower does not represent a crew nor the infrastructure or ability to provide the guest with the desired results of an enjoyable vacation especially with the money paid into the place. Great Wolf Camelback and Kalahari would have been a much better investment. I've been in many snow storms in these great mountains and know that when it comes down it comes down , however with a plan of action like a couple trucks with plows to just keep the roads on the facility clear would make sense and if need be maybe courtesy shovel perhaps. Water does not even open seven days a week and the pool room is just a freaking joke with the beat up tables. This place is just a lose-lose all the way around. If you looking to take your hard-earned money and flush it down the toilet this is your place , however if you're looking for an investment into a beautiful vacation with lasting memories stay clear of this place. Call this morning at 8 a.m. And was told within an hour's time the car would be free here it is 10 to 12 and that fabulous crew has showed up which consists of a crew with one snowblower in three shovelers for the whole facility. read more

This was our second visit most recently. The first time we came was 2011 and stayed in a 1 bedroom jr suite. We paid very little and had no expectations. The room was comfortable, even if outdated. We returned this year because all other PA indoor waterpark resorts were sold out. We stayed in an interior 2 bedroom suite. The layout was great, but the room - the room was way outdated. There is a set of doors inside that link the main bedroom to the hallway near the second bedroom, and if both are closed you are either locked out of that master bedroom, or you are locked out of the main living area. The room key doesn't work on the secondary room door. The room also has no windows which look outside, which is fine, but there is no good ventilation if you plan to cook anything in the fully-stocked kitchen. It's just something to keep in mind. There is a sky light, but it was filthy and cloudy. There is one elevator in the main building, which is 3 stories high. We were surprised there was never a wait. The building is huge and has many rooms. We'd have left the housekeepers a tip, but we found old candy wrappers and potato chips under the couch. I didn't really care for having to clean up after the previous guests. The beds were VERY comfortable, but the pillows were too soft and made our heads sink all the way through. If you only plan to be in the room to sleep and shower, they fulfill your needs 100%. But, we were there all weekend and love spending time in our rooms when we travel. This was a comfortable room and I'd give it a solid 3 stars just because it was suitable. The décor needs a major overhaul - I am not superficial by any means, but there were many stains on the carpet and couches. We used the spare sheets to cover the couches to sit on. The service was odd - the staff wasn't exactly falling over themselves to greet us or anything, but if you consider doing the minimum needed to check us in and out, they did their job. But they offered nothing extra as far as explaining where anything was, offering any info on their restaurants, etc - we were on our own to figure out how to get to the restaurants and what time everything was available. So yeah, I did ask these questions, but it's annoying to have to interrupt employee conversations EVERY time we needed something. after a while, you stop asking. The game room was fun, but we couldn't find the laser tag. We did not look hard enough or ask the right people. We liked that there is a movie theater right on premises, but we didn't use it. I was sad I didn't have a chance to use the salon or massage services. There are a lot of options here for ways to pamper yourself. The lobby was POPPING at night, lots of people hanging out and having a good time. Must be a great local scene since nothing is in the immediate area within a couple miles. The food choices were satisfactory. The pizza overpriced, $20 for a 16" pie. The price was OK, but the quality was not very good. The pizzeria choices otherwise were fine, we liked the chicken fingers, mozz sticks, hot dogs, chips and ice cream selections. We also liked the breakfast buffet. Except for having to walk around to the back to find a waiter to bring us water (because again they were having private conversations the whole time), we thought that the options available were enough. The WATER PARK. The water park was OK. I don't know if the hotel runs it, or if the hotel just has it as a partner, but it is overpriced for what it offers. Camelback has a much larger waterpark with many more features and is more updated. H2Ooooh! doesn't offer swim vests for the kids to use, and they aren't sold in the gift shop. We forgot ours at home and this limited what we were able to do in the waterpark with our kid. We were also slightly turned off that adults are allowed to bring beers into the wave pool. Also, there was a family fully clothed, standing near doors that said "DO NOT OPEN, ALARM WILL SOUND", and they kept opening the doors which led outside. OUTSIDE TO THE SNOW. I was wondering why the temperature in the water park was so cold - it was too cold to stay without a sweatshirt after going into the water. And no one said anything. I asked the guy to leave the doors closed, and he looked at me and shook his head. I guess this is not a thing staff members care about. Will there be a next time? Probably not. But we don't feel like we wasted our money. We just wish the property cared about our stay as much as we did. We paid less than half the cost if we went to Camelback, but the difference in quality was immeasurable. There is a reason why Camelback will charge $500+ for a suite. read more

Upon arrival (at 10:30 at night) I had to wait an additional 30 minutes to check in. No big deal I figured since there seemed to be some sort of convention this weekend so I didn't say anything. Our room was down at the lodge right on the lake, I loved that part. We arrive at the water park the following morning, made our way in and had a great time. By noon we did step out to go back to our room to relax (water park was overwhelming for my son) to learn we had NO running water but they were working to fix it. We had 2 choices for dinner, food court or the grill. We already had breakfast and lunch at the grill and we weren't entirely impressed. The tavern I learned is only open seasonally... weird since they lodge people in the same building it's located in... we ended up driving 30 minutes away to get decent food. We still had no water in our hotel room, but if we wanted we could possibly be located to another part of the resort OR be relocated OF PREMISS. I paid for the all inclusive aspect of the resort, I had no desire to be relocated off the premises and by the time I read the notice that we could be moved it was most definitely too late to stay within the resort. That night staff members were yelling across the hallway at 9 at night while my son was sleeping. Not sure what they were saying, but it was unprofessional... To add to the matter, when my husband went to take a shower the morning we left (after we finally had water back) he learned there was NO hot water, why? When we looked into going to the movie theater we learned the one and only movie playing was Renegade, PG-13, most definitely NOT kid friendly, especially for my 5 year old... We decided to go blowing, but when we arrived the systems were down and they didn't know when it would be working again. When I approached the staff they were very accommodating with regards to the movie and bowling alley and did give me a refund for that aspect but nothing for loosing water for a good portion of the day before. All I got was an apology... This experience is the complete opposite experience I had years ago when I went, I was excited to bring my son for a nice little getaway and granted he had a great time, I was very disappointed with the way I felt the experience went from an adults point of view. read more

The resort it's self wasn't bad at all, the staff is super friendly. We stayed in the Willowbrook suite which was nice, clean and stocked with the things you need. I love the fact that they give you fun bucks and you can use them almost anywhere on the resort. The water park is nice for the most part, I feel that they should have more winter activities. Once you're here for 2 days you pretty do every amenity they have, then there's nothing else to really do. If you don't have a car and you wanna stay for the weekend they do offer shuttle services to get you back and forth(they pick you up from the bus stop) the suites and the main site is not walking distance which is why the shuttle is also needed.. The only con is the shuttle starts running at 9am, I'm an early bird I wanted to be out the suite and getting my day started by 8 and I had to wait an hour. This place is super kid friendly which is a plus! read more

Finally walked into my room which smelled like skunk, waited almost an hour for someone to come spray the room. Hospitality was in the dumps, definitely would not recommend this resort to friends and family. My advice is to spend the extra money and stay at the Kalahari Resort. Although we had a good time overall at the attractions and the activities offered, the staff was rude. The front desk worker was rude and couldn't wait to get us out of her way. Most of the workers showed how little they wanted to be there. But my biggest complaint was the time-share meeting I attended. Now don't get me wrong coming as a guest to enjoy the water park and some attractions like the arcade, mini golf, or even bowling is a wonderful time. Perfect for a family setting, but coming as a potential time-share client I was disappointed at how I was treated. We came to our meeting and were greeted by a man, he took us out to his car; which didn't exactly support the "fancy" resort vibe. From there the professionalism fell, now me and my family were sitting in this mans car, and he took us on a tour around the property. Though he stated he was new to this job (6 months "new") he had some misleading information to tell us, like there were not a lot of houses for sale (but indeed there were). When we finished up our tour we went upstairs to talk about numbers. He told us about he packages and answered our questions or got the manager to answer them if he didn't know. We took a break for lunch, considering we had yet to eat that day. We came back and apologized but we declined their offer. I mentioned that we had a different time-share offer which was a hue mistake on my part. Him and a manager of his went on for the next 20 minutes slandering the company I had brought up and repeatedly telling me how they were lying about the package and went to double check what they offered me. He returned and we refused the offer again. So they sent us down a set of stairs in the back and told us to wait by the TV. So we did, for over 20 minutes. We were greeted by the same manager from above and her response was "let me find Kelly". And an automated apology. Kelly then came down after about 5 minutes and blamed it on my family going to lunch. And was very rude when we continued to turned down the offer and repeatedly told her how unhappy we were with how we were treated. She did not bother to get down to why we felt mistreated and did nothing for wasting 4 hours of my time (when they stated it would only be 90 minutes) and for having horrible customer service. read more

This was one of the worse resorts I've stayed at in the last 25 year. The staff was rude and unhelpful. The indoor pool are was filthy, the tile floor was soaking wet and extremely slipper, and changing rooms horrendous, door falling apart. The room is extremely dates with appliances that are 30+ years old. Dingy, dirty, and rundown. Rental equipment (tennis, racket ball basketball, pool, pingpong) was broken, damages and overall poor condition. Wi-Fi was spotty at best in rooms. The ice machine was broken on our floor and we were advised to go to the bar. Laundry facility in the building was not working, and needed to get in the car and drive to another building, which that building one of the washers was broken. After speaking with the resort manager, I was advised that interval should have advised me that we were staying at a 3 star facility. And should have expected the dated older facility. The place you stay in for vacation can make or break a vacation... This broke ours! read more

I was given toilet paper with dried blood on it, which may have come from an incident that occurred at the resort a couple days prior (Saturday or Sunday August 11 or 12) to my stay. I was a little hesitant about coming to split rock after reading all the negative reviews but am finding out that's not the case at all. Yes the room is a little outdated but who really gives a crap at the end of the day. Do u go on a vacation to stay in your room? The staff has been extremely helpful and nice, the building is clean and the food was good. What else could u ask for. Plenty of stuff to do with kids and would defiantly recommend for anyone looking to get away for a weekend. There is a water park, bowling alley, hair salon, movie theater, indoor courts, and restaurants all with a push of a button of the elevator. The kids love it here and the people that left negative reviews should really give it another shot. We will definatly be back read more

The grounds are beautiful but expected more of our Lake lodge room. Was not given a Lake view as requested and paid for instead got a garden view room. I stayed at this hotel from Tuesday-Thursday. July 3-5. The room was big, but very old. The hotel in general was very hot. I noticed AC controllers either in the OFF setting or set at 78 degrees. They had a movie theatre which was convenient and an indoor swimming pool (not heated). We didn't go to the water park because it was small and some of the things were not working. They offered $10 off the price for everyone but we still didn't think it was worth it. The hotel price was cheap, but I guess that's why there was so much "riff-raff" there. It's open to the public. But it did seem a little old and although the park was fun I feel like there wasn't much to occupy yourself for a while. They had good food. Check in took over three hours due to not enough staff and it being school vacation week. And knowing that they should have had more help so there wouldn't be so many issues. My family and another stayed over a cold November weekend. Hotel didn't notify us in advance but the entire sports complex was closed for the weekend, (for a gun show) and the kids were very disappointed. Bowling alley was small, food at the resort was overpriced and junky. The lodge, where we stayed was more affordable than other options, but still expensive (over $200/night per double). There was no hotel staff onsite, bathroom was very old, clean, but stained tile and shower, and there was no soundproofing so we could hear next door neighbors and kids running the hallways. We laughed our way through the weekend, but don't want to repeat the experience. That said, the lake is very pretty, tons of deer around. read more

I've been coming to Split Rock for years, literally every year, for 13 years. I'm 21 now, and I've seen Split Rock at it's best, and at it's worst. I still will give this place a 5 star review because of my experience as a whole over the years. Split Rock used to have their own Ski Resort, overcrowded beach, and people bustling through the halls night and day. This past year I visited again, and I reminisced how much it has changed. Although I love the place, I feel that the water park was a bad idea to try and compete with Wolf Lodge's indoor park. The entire facility deserved a renovation, rather than a new addition. I feel that if Split Rock would keep up with renovating it's Lodges, Mini Golf course, outdoor recreation, and the facilities inside the Galleria then it would still be the best resort I've ever visited. I really miss dearly the 4th of July entertainment including the band and fireworks on the lake. As well as the pizza shop in the old lodge. The golf course is easily one of the best courses I've ever played (I've been to Scotland, Bahamas, etc for golf) and it continues to impress me each time. The villa rooms on the resort are always my favorite places to stay, especially if you're looking for a rustic feel, with a large group of people. I'll admit, the Galleria's rooms are not very clean anymore, and they all need an up-do, but it's very convenient to be at the center of the resort. The biggest mistake of Split Rock's history just happened this month. They lost their main attraction at the resort, Doc Holiday and his activities programs. Him and his wife constantly brought enjoyment to my entire family with Bingo, Turtle Races, Horse Races, Ping Pong/Pool tourneys, Segway Rides, Hikes, etc. In my mind, there is no way that Split Rock will be able to replace him. I love Split Rock so much, so I will not let it die in my heart, and I'm hoping that when I visit again this year that it'll bring that constant smile to my face again. Currently still at the Split Rock Resort, tonight is my last night. From the very second I walked in to this resort it was a bad experience. I waited on a line for more than 1 1/2 hr just to check in because only 2 people were at the desk checking people in. When my family and myself went to bring our belongings our room, the elavator was broken and remained broken. -The indoor pool and Jacuzzi were dirty and disgusting. Didn't even bother checking out the outdoor pool. They also provide, tiny towels at the pool, so bring your own. -We attempted to participate in the activities that is covered in our resort fee..unable to do anything. When we tried to go biking we were told they only have 8 bikes and the ones that are available had repair issues, that they were unable to fix. So you're telling me a resort that holds at least 1000 people that offers biking as in activity bc you pay for it in your resort fee only has 8 bikes. We tried archery day 1..were told It's too late but we can return the next day btw 3pm-7pm. We returned at 3pm the next day we were told it's booked and we should of signed up. I asked why they didnt they tell us this the previous day. They said call later and maybe a spot will open. I called at 4pm and was told It's first come first served. SERIOUSLY what is it people???. Drove by the area and didn't see anyone there, so how is it booked. Tried other to do other activities and was told they were Not free, when they were clearly listed as activities that there is no charge for and is covered in the resort fee. I'm Not sure what scam they are running in this place. -I stayed in the 2br interior suite and the rooms are outdated and was told there's ceiling skyview( nonexistent, false advertising) The bathrooms are tiny and the Showers have bad water pressure. The sink was leaking fluids and so was the refrigerator. I would never refer any one here. A complete waste of my money and time. I was completely embarrassed and had to apologize to my family. Stay away from this place, save your money. I wouldn't even recommend coming here for free. Worst experience I've ever had anywhere, all scams. read more

This place is very bad. I'm here now and it's sad. You can really tell that this resort has fallen on very tough times. We're staying in the hotel (Galleria) and the whole place is run down, dated and dark. It's actually kind of depressing and if it wasn't for the dreadful snowstorm outside, we probably would've considered leaving early. There is an unpleasant stale odor everywhere, the furniture is embarrassingly old and uncomfortable, the pool area is a mess, and the rooms are barely acceptable. Back to the pool...ugh, it's a mess. Very run down and pool water is freezing cold. I can only image what the cleanliness of the water is. The worst part of the resort has to be the restaurant...it's really sad. The people are nice but you can tell they're embarrassed by the food. Our waitress was giving us subtle warnings about certain items on the menu as not good choices to order. My wise got the rotisserie chicken...it was grey...yes, grey. She didn't touch it. We ordered a meatball which was disgusting and a burger that was barely edible, I only ate half and had to stop. The french fries were even bad. The only thing that I would call edible were the chicken fingers, not tasty but edible. Frankly, I expected to feel sick afterwards, but it's been a few hours later now and I'm ok. So overall, this place is a dated stale dump. I guess that's ok if you're paying dump prices but at $200 per night it's a real theft. The next to final nail in the coffin was on the way out, we learned that the water park was opening 2 hrs late because employees couldn't get in although there were plenty water park employees there who were upset that the Resort didn't tell them about a late opening. The final nail in the coffin was that they didn't plow the 16" of snow from most of the parking lot, which left the guests to get themselves out. We had a team of guests shoveling and pushing each others cars out while we watched the plow truck plow another lot out that didn't have anyone stuck. After we all got each other dug out, we went in to complain about the total disaster in the parking lot and 2 of the resort managers literally had nothing to say. This place is horrible! Don't stay here. We are cutting our trip short, we were supposed to stay for 1 week but we are leaving earlier. I will list all the problems we have had so far: - They tell you there is wifi, but there isn't. Wifi doesn't work, husband planned to work 1 hour a day but couldn't. Very inconvenient ! - Indoor swimming pools are filthy, hair all over, water is blurry and cold and it has sand , just disgusting. - towels are dirty and small (old hand towels) -carpets are gross - outdoor pool is so cold nobody can swim in it and dirty - mini golf is all run down , golf course carpet all ripped, falling apart, completely unmaintained. Still water everywhere (where they had little waterfall is just now still disgusting water) - jacuzzi was dirty with brown stuff floating - have to pay $15 per day to use the amenities (even though we pay exchange fee for our time share)...even simple things like play tennis or shuffle board with our family we couldn't do unless we paid $15 per day (they didn't let us know until 2 days before our trip) - we had to wake up early to be able to get bikes and all the bikes were mostly broken down... That is why the long wait to get a bike, not enough bikes most are broke , flat tire... - we needed extra dish washer detergent and went to the desk in person and were told the housekeeping would bring it to us, they never did, we called 3 times requesting for it and we still haven't received it. They don't answer the phone very often... -people leave trash bags in the hallways, we called and they didn't pick them up until 2 days later. - ping pong tables have tapes all over which makes hard to play... The whole place is rundown , customer service is awful , we wasted a week of vacation in a disgusting place, very disappointing! My advise "don't come here" worst resort I have ever been!! read more

Do not waste your money. So disappointed in this entire resort. Needs updating. Not many options for food. Boasts about indoor courts, then closes them for 3 days to set up for an event. Charges you for other options. The kids outdoor park is a safety hazard. Staff has been rude and completely unhelpful. They are all too busy on their phones. All the time. Not much to do with kids over 10. They show the same movie alllllll week. Would be nice to have a movie for older kids at night. We will be checking out early. Cant wait to leave. read more

This place is the absolute worst ! We only stayed one night because we couldn't wait to leave after purchasing a room with lift vouchers we got to the resort at 8 am thinking we would grab the voucher then head to Jack Frost for skiing we drove around for 15 minutes after paying the 1 dollar toll trying to find what building the front desk was in and finally found it and the women there were horrible everyone talked to us like we had been there 100 times and should know where everything is the ladies at the front desk said they were not allowed to hand out vouchers only managers were ..... Ummm ok can I see the manager then please .... She won't be in until 1030 . Whatttttt .. What should I do for 2 and a half hours not to mention the woman told me the mountain didn't open until 10 so we argued about that plus the fact were getting shorted skiing ahhhh starting off so bad. Said screw it and just went to Jack Frost and bought lift tickets myself.. We come back Saturday night to check in and they give us 3 room keys room smells like rot whatever open the windows and light the fireplace we were in willow brook and eagles are playing let's shower change and get outta here well we go back to the galleria and ask where is good to watch the game and say the pit which is a creepy small room with two 10 inch flat screen in it there sports bar has been closed for months which when we called they said was open so finally we decide on shenanigans we watch the game until half time and then leave to go back to our room. I should have been back and in my room in 10 minutes it's like a 5 minute drive we get to our room door and my wife takes out her key and it isn't activated wtf so I take mine out of my wallet and it doesn't work we call the resort instead of driving another ten minutes and no one is answering so we have to drive now I'm freaking out because the 3rd key is in the room and apparently it was the only one they activated this place blows so we get to the front desk I freak out on the women because she just wants to call security to have it unlocked this place SUCKS so I yell at her so much she finally just gives me new keys I rush back to the room and missed a whole quarter of the birds Sunday I just want to leave split rock ruined my vacation and is a complete shit hole don't stay there. Plus when my wife was checking in and asking for the lift vouchers there was a guy behind her that needed his too and was told the same thing. "Manager has to be present and she won't be here until 1030" the poor guy had ski lessons in half an hour and spent 400 dollars on them for him and his family which went down the drain because he didn't get his lift vouchers. The front desk employees were horrible and the so-called "manager" never showed her face once. Just to add to the list my wife surprised me with champagne and strawberries in our room-champagne was horrible and in a plastic bucket and the strawberries were old and only came with 4. RIP OFF!!!!!! Seriously guys don't waste your time or money. read more

Very nice stay at the Lodge. The facility was quiet and comfortable, not luxurious. We had adjoining rooms (2) that looked out over the lake. The lake water was cold, but that didn't stop us from having a brief game of water volley ball. There were small children (not in my group) who were having a great time digging holes in the sand and hunting (fruitlessly) for tadpoles. Two in my group rented a kayak. We ate one meal at the Lake View restaurant--four people ate well for $80 (no drinks). Quiet rooms. King beds, very comfortable mattresses. Ample space in the rooms. We swam in the indoor pool--not large, but adequate, clean and not overly crowded. Twice (three-night stay) we played board games in the lobby where a few tables were arranged for the guests' convenience. A microwave was available in the lobby, but not in the rooms, for guest use. Each of the two rooms we rented had a small refrigerator (paid a fee). Good idea. We used other facilities in the Split Rock Resort: At the Town House, we saw a movie (fee for the ticket) and, for free, played ping pong, billiards and tennis. This is where the water park is located--very crowded. Town Center was a bit noisy and crowded for me. Wouldn't want to stay there. Also, on Split Rock grounds were bicycles (free) miniature golf (free) and archery (free). We used all of these. This was a very nice, brief vacation. I should add that the staff, including at the restaurant, was helpful and friendly. read more

I've never been so disappointed. Our once a year family trip was ruined. Outdoor pool was closed and they had the nerve to charge full price for the Waterpark. Extremely dated that it felt dirty. Restaurants had false menus posted outside and when we sat down there were entirely different options. Elevator extremely slow and limited.. other guests were waiting in lobby for refunds and checking out immediately. What a disgrace. read more

The only reason I'm giving this craphole one star at all is due to the natural beauty of the poconos that surrounds it. My boyfriend and I wanted a Labor Day getaway that would be a bit more quiet than the NJ or DE shore. I will say the place was not even half way full, which did make it nice and quiet.... After our experience it's easy to see why! I'm about to go on a rant, so I'll just give my bottom line here: awful lodgings, untrained staff, and zero leadership by management made for one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. After paying $135/night with the AAA discount, I am pissed! Split Rock you deserve to go out of business! Where do I even start?!?! First of all, they charged my credit card 1/2 of the balance several days before we arrived, after specifically telling me the card would only be used to hold the room, and not charged. Then they expected us to pay the balance on check-in. Hello-that is what check-out is for! The place hasn't been reno'd since the 1970s and has that foul smell of mildew and old cigarettes throughout. We stepped into our room to be greated by an even stronger smell of mildew. The airconditioner was set at 63, which we quickly found was the only temperature at which it worked! Any higher and it would shut itself off. The toilet didn't flush properly and the mattress dipped down on one side. I don't care about TV, but I must note that it was a tiny set about 2 decades old. Overall the room was terrible, but we didn't plan to spend much time in it, so we were hopeful that the rest of the place would be nice...Wrong! We got there on Friday evening and decided to have a drink outside at the beach bar. Well that never happened because the "bartender" was a miserable drudge, and clearly never heard the phrase "sense of urgency". After 10 minutes of waiting to even be acknowledged, let alone get drinks, we got up and left. In Benchwarmers the bartender let it slip to us that the owners of Split Rock were in default to the bank, for unpaid taxes-well it's all adding up now! Meanwhile, various staff were arguing with each other in front of us, including the miserable outside bartender who told her manager she was "swamped" becasue she was out there by herself. That beach bar was barely half full-get your act together! And the rest of you morons shouldn't be arguing with the on-duty manager in front of guests! We headed upstairs to the italian place and actually got a very nice server and a decent meal. Nonetheless, the bartender had no idea how to make a cosmo, and we heard various woebegone tales from our server about how the place was barely in business. I'm not sure if this pity party was an effort to get a better tip, but it was really pathetic. To top of this experience was the drone at the front desk who couldn't even figure out how to keep our business for an extra day! Despite how crappy the place was, we did enjoy laying by the lake and walking around the woods. So we decided to stay until Mon, instead of checking out on Sunday. They refused our business! We were told they were booked and couldn't accomodate us for another night! Are you kidding me? The place wasn't even half full! All it would have taken was to change a few rooms around, or have housekeeping work a little extra to get another room ready. I have NEVER experienced this level of sheer incompetence from a hotel in my life. COMPLETE WASTE OF A WEEKEND and over $300!!!! read more

The suite was nice & spacious however the jacuzzi in the bed room filled entirely too slow. It took over an hour to fill & when it was finally full we discovered the water wasn't even hot (even though the hot water was up all the way). The shower head in the bedroom fell on my girlfriend when she was adjusting the shower. We didn't feel safe using it after that happened. Although the hotel offered many activities throughout the day, the atmosphere was dead & the staff weren't very welcoming. They appeared very humdrum & non-enthusiastic about working at the resort. The pre-packaged food & bar food made it difficult to find a good meal. We didn't get an opportunity to check out the restaurant on the resort because they are only open for breakfast & dinner hours (which was extremely disappointing). The worst part of the entire trip was feeling discriminated against while trying to ask about dining opportunities on the resort. My girlfriend & I walked into the bar area and find two employees chatting. They proceeded to continue their conversation even after we stood & exchanges looks with both of them. We had to interrupt their conversation to even get acknowledged by either one of them. We felt like we were bothering them because they weren't even remotely interested in assisting with our concerns. The pool and the hot tub on the first floor contributed to the highlights our trip but the staff of Split Rock Resort quickly turned our stay into and unpleasant one. I wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone because hospitality isn't something Split Rock Resort consider a priority. We paid a resort fee but didn't understand the purpose of it because its significance was poorly explained. The arcade was dead & there weren't attendant in every session of the resort were activities were taking place. read more
