Smoothie - Red Light (Strawberry)
Brian M.

One star for being big, clean, and bright. One star for being able to host 27 volleyball courts I had to stretch for that second star. The facility is big. We came for a volleyball tournament of about 80 teams. 8-12 boys per team, each boy with a one or two family members. If you don't arrive by 8am, there is nowhere to park. Yet, they still charge $10 for parking even if you have to park .5 miles away. Outside food is not allowed. There is a food court there where for $20, you get ham deli meat, a slice of cheese on a wrap with about 20 grapes. No outside food = you are forced to buy our over priced sub-par food. For my wife who is gluten free, and my daughter who has special dietary needs did have options to eat. There was the grapes, a smoothie, and a plain bowl of white rice. Yum yum. That's plenty of food for an event that lasts from 8a-9p! For them, we made the .5 mile trip to the car to get the food we were not allowed to bring in. (By the way facility, people are smuggling in food.) No outside drinks allowed, but you can bring in a water bottle. However, in this giant place, there is only one water fountain- it's an old style fountain- not a refill station. So the kid in front of me licking the water fountain is the same place I am allowed to fill up my water bottle. No problem, I thought, I have more water in the car. Wait, that's a mile round trip in the rain! They do have WiFi. It was quicker to use my phone that got one bar inside the facility vs using their WiFi with 0.5 mbps download speed. If you are looking for a clean, bright facility with absolutely no amenities. If you like to pay $20 for a meal you could build from Whole Foods for $3. If you like paying to park a mile away. If this is your bag, then this is the place for you! Oh wait - there is an arcade. That'll support that second star

Parking for volleyball tournament was a nightmare at best. The facility was not equipped to effectively mange logistics.

Hamilton is an industrial town. Or was. Now post-industrial. It's bringing in a lot of interesting and creative ideas to the city. Like Artspace. "The project rehabilitated two internally connected historic buildings, a 1900 French Renaissance masterpiece originally known as the Mehrum Building, and the 1913 Lindley Block. A 1970s remodel covered the original storefronts with a metal screen that was removed in Spring of 2013, thereby restoring these century-old edifices to their original appearance." (Taken directly from http://www.artspace.org/our-places/artspace-hamilton-lofts#tab-node_place_full_group_overview. I don't have that much building knowledge but it's cool to know.) The non-profit does this amazing thing. They started in 1979 in Minneapolis and asked this really obvious question I'm not sure a lot of people think of. When gentrification happens, what happens to the artists? They saw them as low in income but assets in creativity. And Hamilton is The City of Sculpture! We need art! That just blows my mind. The non-profit use real estate development to create affordable places for artists to work, perform and display their work. Anyway, there are 42 units that I'm sure you can tour if you're looking for a place. One, two and three bedroom apartments. I'm not sure how the cost works. I just viewed the gallery. Which is in a really huge space. When I arrived there were residents working on something artsy and the manager was eager to have a chat. There are rotating art shows from residents and, I think, other folks. There's music. Recently there was a drum event I missed out on. Parking is easy to find. There's tons of street parking and a parking garage around the block. Lots, too. I'm unsure of hours. I showed up on a Thursday afternoon and they were open. It's free and there are lot of things to check out in the area. I intend on following their event calendar more closely now that I've checked it out. I'm excited to find out what they do next.

I really like how the screen was up high so that no matter where you park you can see the screen. I also thought the concession was clean and the bathrooms were clean. The picture quality of the movie was really really good! We had a truck so we set up a nice little area in the bed of the truck with beach chairs, a cooler, and blankets and it was perfect! I do suggest bringing a radio to listen to the movie but listening from the car wasn't bad. There is a fee of $5 to bring in outside food but no one ever checked if we paid for it so I'm not sure why they have that fee? We liked the Kona truck to get shaved ice and thought it was a nice little treat! Get there at least an hour and a half early to get a good spot. We saw a lot of people driving around 30/40 mins before having a hard time parking. We will definitely be back again!

Tried finding an attendant but could not find the guy on the golf cart that drives around checking on things. Literally could not hear the movie and it totally ruined the experience for us and others around us. It also smelled like weed coming from that car also. Not saying it's managements fault entirely, but they need to do a better job at going around at checking on things. Wife and me normally have a good time coming here, but that was uncalled for an inconsiderate. I'm a big tall dude, I didn't want to go up to them and have a fight break out because they would likely be intimidated by me. This was as of June 20, 2026. It takes one @ssho(e to ruin a cinematic experience like that. I get that that night was sold out, but please do a better job.
