Around 9 p.m., we were looking for a good Thai spot where we wouldn't feel rushed before closing, and this Ballard gem was the perfect find. We grabbed an outdoor table, and with the beautiful evening weather, it made for such a relaxing dinner. My husband and I shared a few dishes: the Cashew Nut Prawns (we substituted prawns instead of chicken), the Emerald Garlic Prawns, and a comforting bowl of Tom Yum soup. Everything was flavorful and freshly prepared. The portions were generous and perfect for sharing. I also appreciated that each entrée came with a side of rice, which made the meal feel like an even better value. The Cashew Nut Prawns had a delicious combination of crunchy cashews and tender prawns, while the Emerald Garlic Prawns were packed with garlic flavor without being overpowering. The Tom Yum soup struck a great balance of tangy, savory, and comforting. Service was incredibly fast, and despite arriving later in the evening, we never felt rushed. I really enjoyed my meal at Spoonfull Thai Kitchen & Bar this weekend. We walked in after taking in the Ballard Farmer's Market crowd and there were only a few others in the restaurant. The space is bright and airy. The menu had plenty to choose from. I went for the Chicken Pad Thai and it was a heaping portion of yumminess. You could choose your spice factor - I went for a 2 and it was flavorful with a kick - exactly what I was hoping for. The food came out quick and hot, prepared fresh to order. I left full and satisfied both in terms of the taste and the value of my meal. The staff were friendly, but not overbearing, which was nice for a casual Sunday lunch. Needed a place for 6 people to eat on a Wednesday afternoon so on a whim I chose Spoonfull. I called in advance, they took down a reservation, and we were seated immediately when we arrived. We were given an indoor and outdoor option, and I opted for patio since it was such a nice day, and the patio space is quite nice. We ordered Thai teas, spring rolls, and fresh rolls as appetizers. The Thai teas were delicious, and also a really large size! The rolls came out too. The fresh rolls held up to the freshness promised in their name, but I greatly enjoyed the spring rolls much more. As an entree I opted for the crispy garlic chicken. It was delicious! Once again, crispy as promised, and really well seasoned. There was barely anyone inside, so this fit the bill. We ordered the spiked Thai tea and a honey lavender gin drink. The drinks were made quickly. The Thai tea is STRONG, so beware. It basically just tasted like Thai tea with alcohol added. I think I would have preferred it without. The honey lavender gin drink was delicious. Great happy hour! Spiked Thai Iced Tea: has markers mark so beware! lol. It's tasty, but also strong! Tom Kah: flavorful and definitely thick. Wish it had some tomato and onion but was still good with chicken and mushroom. Pad Thai: I ordered medium spicy, and it wasn't quite spicy enough. Very good overall and a little on the sweet side with the tamarind. Good size portion for happy hour. The staff are super friendly and the pricing is fair. Atmosphere is fine and cozy. Walked here with a small child and friend for a late lunch. Spoonfull has a great kids menu ($10) along with Mon-Thurs happy hour specials and a great lunch menu. My friend ordered yellow curry, and I got the green curry (soft tofu). My kiddo ordered phad Thai chicken, and we got crab delight (wontons) as a starter. Lunch specials came with a really delicious soup! Starter (on discounted menu!) was a good portion. I really enjoyed my green curry and my kid was sort of silly but she enjoyed it as well. We were the only table (Tuesday) and my friend who lives nearby said she would definitely be back. 2 lunches, a HH starter, and a kids meal came out to $55 before tip. Was looking for some cozy food on a chilly night and remembered hearing that a new Thai restaurant had opened up nearby. It's right on Ballard Ave so the location is great for people strolling and shopping around. I came on a Sunday early evening and sat down right away. Luckily they have daily happy hour with a lot of options! My dining partner and I both got the honey thyme cocktail which was delicious! Then we shared a few of the dishes on the HH menu. I loved the potstickers and the soup. It was soo flavorful. We also had the cashew chicken which came with some rice. Definitely recommend it! The service was also very friendly and quick. Service was quick and friendly and food came out pretty fast as well. The crab delight was top notch, perfectly crispy and with a tasty plum sauce. My family and I were visiting from California back in February for my birthday. My husband and I decided we were going to do a date night and started researching places. This place was not our first option; we had previously went to a different Thai place and were told that we could no longer order even though we had showed up 30 minutes before closing and we were turned away. So we began our research again to look for another place similar to what we're already planning and found Spoonfull. We got there found parking and to our surprise there was only a person or two at the restaurant. I decided to order the Duck Salad and a spiked Thai Tea. My husband had ordered lamb and a soda. This was my first time ever eating a duck salad and here I am 5 months later STILL thinking about how AMAZINGLY flavorful this salad was. I had to write a review. Thank you to the server who was making our drinks, serving our food, helping other customers, answering phone calls for phone orders and still giving us great customer service. Food was good but I ordered for pickup and when I got there they told me to wait. I sat in a boot for 25 minutes before they said my order was ready. What they handed me was wrong. I got food poisoning here from the won ton soup. I also ordered a margarita with a non-well tequila, and they added ten dollars to the price of the drink. Also we had to wait over a half an hour to get water after arriving. There were no healthy appetizers offered. Everything on the appetizer menu was deep-fried.
