Jack Sprat is unquestionably worthy of a James Beard Award. After dining here, I am genuinely…read moresurprised it has not yet received one. This is not just a restaurant--it is a culinary experience that reflects passion, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for Alaska's incredible produce. The ambience is exceptional. The restaurant is housed in a beautifully restored old home that has been transformed into an architectural gem. Large French windows flood the dining room with natural light and frame breathtaking views of Mount Alyeska. Watching the lush green mountains as clouds gently drift across their peaks creates an atmosphere that is peaceful, intimate, and uniquely Alaskan. Even before the food arrives, the experience begins with the menu itself. It is beautifully designed, thoughtfully curated, and filled with clever, catchy dish names that immediately make you smile. It perfectly reflects the restaurant's creativity and personality, making you excited to order even before the first plate reaches the table. I ordered the blackened Alaska sablefish, one of Alaska's signature fish, and it was magnificent. The fish was incredibly buttery, perfectly cooked, and lightly finished with sea salt, allowing its natural flavors to shine. Every bite reminded me why sablefish is considered one of Alaska's finest seafood delicacies. My wife and son both had the meat burger, and it was outstanding. It was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection--no ordinary burger. The quality of the beef really stood out and made it one of the best burgers we've had. The dessert was unforgettable. The olive oil chocolate cake with sea salt, layered with a luscious vanilla cream cheese filling, was simply to die for. Rich without being heavy, beautifully balanced, and one of the finest desserts we've had in a long time. What impressed me just as much as the food was the people. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Franz, the owner, who shared that he moved here from Michigan 25 years ago and has never looked back. His passion for Alaska, hospitality, and exceptional food is evident throughout the restaurant. That same passion is shared by the entire team. Every member of the staff genuinely cares about creating a memorable dining experience, and their warmth and enthusiasm make you feel incredibly welcome. It is also clear that the kitchen is led with experience and excellence. The current chef, having spent many years at the renowned Alyeska Resort, brings tremendous skill and refinement to every plate while celebrating local Alaskan ingredients. Fresh ingredients, flawless execution, spectacular views of Mount Alyeska, thoughtful architecture, a beautifully crafted menu brimming with personality, and heartfelt hospitality--Jack Sprat delivers on every level. This is easily one of the finest dining experiences we've had in Alaska, and a restaurant that deserves recognition far beyond Girdwood. We cannot wait to return.

We had a mixed experience at Jack Sprat…read more Service timing was rough. It took over an hour from ordering to get our main dishes. About 1.5 hours from when we were seated. We did get the dip bread appetizer about 15 minutes after ordering which helped. Then we waited another full hour after finishing it before our food arrived. The food was inconsistent. The chow fun noodles were undercooked. More like al dente pasta which does not work for a Chinese dish. The burgers came with fries that were cold and hard. They did fix that quickly and brought fresh fries which were much better. The wagyu burger was the biggest disappointment. The meat tasted very gamey. That is not what you expect from wagyu which should be rich and buttery. I ended up trying to cover the taste with toppings just to eat it. Not enjoyable. Our child did enjoy her grass fed beef burger and had no complaints. The atmosphere is great. Live music adds a nice touch. We also liked the shop next door and the outdoor wood fire. We like this place and wanted it to be a great experience. The food and timing just missed the mark this time. Hoping they improve because the setting is really nice.

I can't believe no one ever told me about this place. Always in search of a good if not the best…read moreburger, I decided to give these guys a try when I heard about them. Ordered via DoorDash. What drew me to give them a shot were these cheeseburger egg rolls I saw in an advert. What the heck was that? Well it was an eggroll cut in half that was full of ground beef and cheese and on top there was lettuce, tomato and onions. It came with the side of awesome sauce, which is like spicy thousand island. It is a bizarre concept and remains so even while you're chewing it. But it is absolutely delicious. The burger ordered was called the Food Truck. It was your classic burger with a double smashed patty, lettuce, tomato cheese, pickles, and onions. It was fantastic from the bun to the ingredients. Everything was fresh and fabulously assembled in proper amounts to make a really great burger in every bite. It held up to the leftover test and tasted really good without reheating. Because who has time for that? My friend ordered the Ruben Griller (sorry no pic). It was very good looking on marble rye with a lot of meat. I sensed some cheese and was not sure if there was sauerkraut in the bite that I had, but I found it a little dry weirdly because it had been toasted on the grill and had quite a bit of butter on the bread. Hard to describe, but I could tell that it was a good sandwich. I just might've got my bite off the edge so I will try again another time. My friend enjoyed the sandwich and ate it all in one sitting! Sides: the standard side is garlic fries, which are delicious and also once again fresh ingredients. The garlic seems chopped and not from a jar, I mean, you can tell the difference. You will smell like garlic for a few days. Which is cool though cause it's good for you. The most notable thing about the fries or if you would prefer tater tots is that you can "load" them. This is where someone comes in and sprays them with cheese and sour cream and bacon and green onions and etc., and it blows your mind and your diet. The onion rings are also as amazing as everything else. I particularly like the type of batter they use that is all one unit rather than like Panko that gets everywhere and falls apart. In all this is comfort food, and definitely high calorie (the items I'm reviewing, I don't know about salads, lighter, fare, or anything like that) and will have to be viewed as a once in a while treat if I don't want to have to buy larger pants. If you are looking for something really satisfying and want a good fresh meal that wakes up every single tastebud, I would recommend these guys. I also have to say it feels like the owners themselves made the food, and maybe they did. Either that or they have trained and treated their staff well because their integrity shows in the care they take to prepare and serve really outstanding food. They have a cool website where you can learn about the owners and their vision, and you can also purchase the awesome sauce for your own refrigerator, which I have done!

A good place to go if you have the "munchies."They have a lot of creative options on their menu…read more Also the Buffalo chicken sandwich is the spiciest Buffalo sandwich I've had in Alaska
