My husband and I used to live right around the corner from Auto Way before moving a few months…read moreback. My husband used to use them for oil changes every now and again and for fixing a few minor issues here and there. However, my husband's car recently began overheating on his way to work. When he got to work, he thought he had a crack in his radiator and needed a new one. A coworker who likes to work on cars took a look at his car during lunch break and said the same thing. He called a few of our usual repair shops to get prices and got quoted an average of $350. He decided to take a risk with Auto Way, and we're so glad he did. They charged a very reasonable price of $200 and had his car repaired in a few hours. Coincidentally my car had been due for scheduled maintenance a week or two prior and I had called tons of shops to compare prices for a new timing belt. I was told at almost every shop that I should replace the water pump at the same time, and quoted an average of $650-$850 between 4 shops. I picked a shop that ended up charging $700 and had the work done there. When my husband went to pick his car after the radiator was replaced at Auto Way, he asked what the cost for a new timing belt for my car would be. They also told him it was advisable to replace the water pump, and quoted him $500. This place is NOT fancy. It's a hole in the wall place off a side road and seems a bit sketchy. There's even a few chickens hanging around the lot. But these guys seem like honest folks who charge a fair price and do things right. We'll be bringing our cars there for all maintenance and repairs from now on. I'll update this review if my opinion ever changes (it has before with auto mechanic shops), but I have high hopes for a lasting relationship with Auto Way.

Then I stopped by one day to check in, and my car was not there, and the place was closed. As I was leaving, my car came pulling in, full of people. They had food, car parts, and pulled someone else's tire out of my trunk. As I was just sitting and watching, the driver put my car in reverse and spun the wheels on the rocks. I was furious and confronted them, and they tried to claim they were just test-driving my car. My vehicle was not fixed, and it had over 500 more miles on it since I dropped it off, and it smelled of BO & cig smoke. I had to file a police report and do plan on taking legal action.

Reasonable price, great owner, and nice location…read more Came in for an oil change and to track down the cause of a recurring stall issue with my Volkswagen Tiguan. The mechanic listened, asked good follow-up questions, made sure he understood the problem before drawing any conclusions, and then diagnosed it cleanly. The part arrived within the window he quoted (2-3 hours), was installed without fuss, and the final bill was reasonable. What stood out as much as the technical work: he flagged a slow coolant leak and a minor oil leak -- this is an older car, so neither was a shock -- but there was no pressure to pile on services. He showed me rough estimates so I'd have them when I'm ready and left the decisions to me. That kind of straightforward, no-upsell approach is rarer than it should be. The waiting area is a genuine plus: free wifi, a table big enough to work at, and a small fridge with complimentary drinks, large TV. My one suggestion would be to add a coffee in the AM. Also, the door to the reception currently reads "B". Might want to avoid any confusion with better signage. That said, I am a big fan of this establishment and will be using them for repairs in the future (apparently sooner than I want :) Bonus: he pointed me to a wonderful Indian place across the street, Biryani, which I'd highly recommend if you have time to kill while your car is being worked on.

Modern Automotive in Cary, NC is the best repair facility of the many that we have used. First,…read morethey are honest and trustworthy. That relieves an incredible amount of anxiety on our part. They don't make a repair which is unnecessary. They don't try to scare you into agreeing to have expensive, unneeded repairs figuring that the anxiety of not having them done would encourage you to OK them. They don't continually try to up sell you on unneeded services as many dealership service departments do. They even verified that new tires that our tire dealer said that we needed were not needed now because the current tires were fine wrt tread wear and other features. More anxiety relief. They also do top-quality repairs. We have taken our two vehicles there for the past three years, one of which is almost 30 years old. Some repairs appeared to us that they may be undoable but they have solved every problem. They only use manufacturer replacement parts which may cost a little more or delay a repair but are likely to last much longer than using cheap generic parts but then charging the manufacture prices. Their labor charges are entirely reasonable. The manager, Will, is incredibly knowledgeable and capable of running a three-ring circus if needed. Because of their outstanding service, it is typical to have to wait a couple of weeks for an appointment.

We bring both our cars here and have had great experiences every time. What stands out most is…read moretheir honesty. I never feel like I'm being upsold or overcharged. In auto repair, trust is everything, and this shop has earned mine. Highly recommend, though selfishly, I hope they don't get too popular.
