On my way to my appointment, my phone died, and I lost my GPS, causing me to arrive 4-5 minutes late. I apologized immediately and even showed her my dead phone, but Sabina pointed out my tardiness in a snarky tone. I accepted responsibility and tried to remain pleasant, feeling genuinely bad for the delay. However, Sabina continued with passive-aggressive remarks like, "There's a huge sign; it's not hard to find," and criticized me for not knowing the exact haircut measurements I wanted. She also condescendingly added, "I've been doing this for 10 years." Despite my efforts to be respectful and understanding, the constant digs were too much. I don't know her personally, and I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt if they're having a bad day, but this was excessively rude and bizarre behavior given my kindness and apologetic stance. At one point, I looked over at her coworkers, hoping for some acknowledgment of how strange this interaction was, but no one even glanced our way--it almost felt like they knew she had a terrible attitude. Eventually, I told her I was done and ready to leave because I knew I wouldn't get the haircut I wanted with her demeanor. Even after I decided to walk out, she brought up my being late again, despite it only being a matter of minutes (I can prove this with a screenshot from my phone's location services). This experience was bizarre, off-putting, and frankly, verbally abusive. Given the nearly perfect 5-star rating (with 200+ reviews), I can only assume they remove negative feedback. Hopefully, this review stays up long enough to warn others. I'll be going to Four Crows from now on. I'll also be posting this on other forums to ensure more people are aware.

I also booked this appointment online and I learned that it is okay to book any spot that is open but was advised to book ahead as they get quite busy. But the BEST part was, apparently they have a loyalty program and I ended up getting $12 off of the price! As if I needed a reason to go back to Chatters (both Nanaimo and Victoria have great hair dressers), now I'm definitely not getting my hair done anywhere else!

Also, for the reason I cannot drive, and so as a result have to rely on someone to take me to the places I need to go to, or I want to go to, that for me this was not an easy or easily noticeable place to find in the Qualicum, BC area. For the hair cut I got from her it was good enough. I think at this point in time, that I will decide to try another salon in this area or even elsewhere if I find it needs to be done again in the future. The price was okay, the service was good, but as for this place being hard to see or notice this is why I am only giving it a 3.5 rating out of a 5.

The stylist started slowly brushing through my hair to see which way my hair fell (which should be the proper procedure). That is when the owner came by, wound up a timer and set it for about 20 minutes. She then promptly sat down, arms crossed and watched. Obviously, this got the stylist nervous and she quickly started cutting. And out popped my cowlicks like 'wack-a-moles! At the end of the cutting, hair product was liberally applied to control what was left of my hair. What a disaster!

I had a special event that night and I wanted my nails to look good. The morning I arrived at 8:45 for my 9am appointment I was contacted through text by the salon owner, Jennifer. She explained that my technician couldn't be there due to reasons beyond her control and that a different technician could replace her at 9:30. My appointment went from 9:20 until 10:20, however, I was still charged for 90 minutes for a poor rushed job. I paid $110. I would've said something while I was there but I didn't get to really look at them until I got home. The chrome on my nails is already chipping on the ends, the French tips aren't on the whole nail and I could already tell the same day that some of them will start lifting within a week. When I contacted Jennifer to express my dissatisfaction she was defensive and rude. She claimed that I was undercharged and stressed that the technician's child was very ill, that the change was beyond her control and they were doing the best they could under the circumstances. However, at no point did she offer to amend my bill to reflect the shorter appointment time, the inconvenience of the last-minute change or the sub-par nails. The threads I've attached to this review show my conversation with Jennifer, the owner of the salon who contacted me that morning. What I didn't mention in these threads included here is that this has actually happened more than twice at this salon with me. This is only the second time my appointment was ruined for a special occasion. The first time was for my prom when I had a similar experience with my appointment being moved. I think it's important people see Jennifer's true colours which are clearly reflected in the manner she speaks to me through text. I gave Jennifer the opportunity to make things right before moving onto Google reviews however I'm pretty sure she blocked me and that text wasn't delivered to her. See texts...
