Seats were comfortable and the sound was good, for the most part. Although it wasn't an issue for us, I could imagine that seeing the artists properly could be difficult for patrons seated higher up. We were puzzled at why the (only one btw) screen above the stage had promotion for the company bringing the show and other visuals rather than showing the performers so that those farther away could have a better view. It's understood that this may have been a choice by the folks putting on the event. However, the venue is large enough that more than one screen could be helpful-then one could have whatever promotion or visuals the artist or supporting team favors and the other(s) could show the performance. There were also a couple instances of mic screech, but not a big deal. Of course food/drinks were event priced and the parking lots in the area were $30-$40, again event priced. But, there are a variety of dining options in close proximity, and it's a short walk to NJ transit. The crowd at our concert was good vibes, and the staff we encountered were all cool and helpful.

Before the game, Prudential Center hosted Fan Fest at 4pm in their outdoor lot area (Championship Plaza). There were van / truck vendors giving out NJ Devils Swag, fans were able to play games, engage in other activities & hear the live band play good music. Once we headed into Prudential Center, patrons were able to purchase food & enjoy activities from numerous vendors throughout this spacious facility. Upon entry, Prudential Center gave the first 9,000 fans a "Fan" Shirsey (T-Shirt Style Jersey) commemorating the Final Season of the "Jersey" Jersey (boy, is it comfortable). Courtesy of GEICO, from 5:30pm - 7pm, fans were able to purchase $1 hotdogs from specific food vendors (limit was 4 per person). As this was my 1st time going to a hockey game, I have to say it was electric. There are no fans like sports fans & hockey fans are something else - lol. NJ Devils vs. Ottawa Senators was a great game. As hockey is a 60-Minute game split into 3 20-Minute periods, the NJ Devils Entertainment Team kept the crowd upbeat (even when they were frustrated w/ some of the NJ Devils hockey players & were yelling from their seats) throughput breaks & intermission(s). We were able to ride the Zamboni (so much fun) & to see the NJ Devils players "backstage" before they headed back to the hockey rink. The dopest part was when NJ Devils #13 Nico Hischier scored the winning goal, leading the NJ Devils to beat the Ottawa Senators! Alumni Field is soooooo sweet!!! Alumni Field is a state-of-the-art gem that is tucked away in the…read moreheart of Newark/ the Rutgers-Newark campus. I used to pass Alumni Field on my way to and from the University and I had no clue how nice it was until I actually popped inside one day to watch my friend play soccer. Alumni Field is actually better than most city and college fields in and out of the greater NY/ NJ area. Alumni Field contains an all turf soccer and softball field. The new turf was added in 2009 and is kept in tip-top shape! New scoreboards were added few years back when the University renovated the field and a press box was recently added in Summer 2012. If you need the lights on for night games; all you have to do is make arrangements with Athletics Facilities and they will be more than happy to help you out! The field is mainly used by the Rutgers-Newark Athletics & Rec Dept., local k-12 teams, city leagues and intramurals within the community rent-out Alumni Field as well. I'm not sure what the rental price is, however based on what I hear; I don't think it's going to cost ya an arm and a leg!

Newark School Stadium is gigantic. The stadium is bordered by Bloomfield Ave, Roseville Ave, 1st Ave, and N. 10th Street. This is a new stadium that was rebuilt in 2011; the original was demolished in 2009. Even though it's not the original, the location site has tremendous historic value in term of the sports in the city of Newark. If you are interested in the history of Newark or sports, it's worth checking it out. It's an impressive architectural structure.

Competitive swimming pool open daily free of charge to all. When was the last time you had a nice swim for as long as you wanted for free? Like try never! Pool is clean, yes slightly dated but so well maintained. Went there today from 11am to 12, guess how many people there were on all 6 lanes? 4people! By the time i was done: there were 2 left. Yes, location sucks and really this is for people from Newark, Harrison and perhaps Karney to enjoy. Showers are dated and not all work; bring your own hair dryer. But all that doesn't bother me since i can just go home and be there in 5min. Also excellent for kids since they do have baby and toddler depths available. They plan to close it for 15 days renovation but will reopen in Nov. Also i am looking forward to their ice rink hours. Will be available later in fall. Again kids classes avaible for free (from what i hear). All in all i am impressed and will come back!

We were able to park in the lot and had a minimal walk. What a way to spend the 4th under the clear sky with that boom all around and magilnificent fireworks to light up the sky. Rink #1 has a capacity of 2,500 where as Rink #2 has a capacity of 500. The arena offers ice hockey and ice skating lessons with classes for toddlers to adults. it is the home ice for Livingston and West Orange High School Ice Hockey teams. The Essex Figure Skating Club, as well as, the U.S. Speed Skating. These days I visit the arena during public skating sessions which generally are Friday (4:45-6:15), Saturday & Sunday (11:45-1:15) and (2-3:30 pm). Check their website because special events disrupt the schedule. Graduations, performances by skating stars like Dorothy Hamill and Peggy Fleming and NJIL Cup Finals. Admission for public skating is as follows: adults $10, seniors & military $8, children 15 years and younger $8. Skate rentals are $5 dollars. There is ample parking and the food concession offerings are pretty good.

I've also attended a high school graduation here and it was very well organized. There's also ample parking, however, it can be chaotic upon exiting. That's a little frustrating, but I blame my minimal patience for that, I guess. Overall, wonderful building and events!

The Newark campus is somewhat sparse with construction constantly going on just like in New Brunswick to beautify the school. Unfortunately it doesn't look like any of that is happening and after being here for a few years it barely looks like anything has changed. It's a headache coming down here in the morning and afternoon so unless you live near campus, which also not very inviting, it's just a hassle coming here, parking is a trap if you chance it parking on the street or you pay for a parking pass which still require $5 a pop after the $30+ subscription. Bursar, admissions, administration and everything else you have to deal with all bring on migraines and while I know this could be said for any University this one is especially so. I know Rutgers is held in high regard but personally my experience has been most unpleasant and coming to Newark for class is convenient but only a lesser of 2-3 evils.

The administrative building (Blumenthal) is found on University (between Warren and Raymond). You go here for all your registration and bursar needs. The health center is also found there. Most of the buildings where you take classes are contained in the block created by University, Warren, MLK, and Bleeker. Within that square, it's convenient to go to classes. Plus, in this square block are the Dana Library and the Paul Robeson Student Center. The dorms are between Bleeker and Central. Then there are the buildings between University and Washington - Center got Law and Justice (law school and some criminal justice classes there), the parking Deck, Golden Dome Athletic Center, and other classroom buildings. There is also another Parking Deck on Washington between Raymond and Warren. If you don't have a car, there are many public transportation options. The campus is located close to the Washington Street stop on the light rail, and there are also a number of buses that will bring you close to campus. There is a lot more passive green areas and places to sit outside, than when I went to school here many moons ago. It used to be just concrete and red outdoor tables that were bolted to the ground (not as picturesque as today). I am a fan of the Rutgers-Newark Campus. Plus it's close to the Newark Museum and the Main Newark Public Library, as well as the Haynes & Co. building and other nice spots in Halsey Village.
