US Open Fan Week is a great opportunity to watch players practice for free, including in the main stadiums. Louis Armstrong has good views. We were able to find seats near the court in the shade near the restrooms and water bottle filling station. Normally during the regular US Open we would not have been able to afford seats this close. read more

During the World cup they had viewing parties here we came across one that was not sold out & decided to check it out. Stadium is a decent size & for the most part it served it's purpose for the viewing party which was not bad. They had some entertainment although the mini concert didn't happen artist did not show up. they did have like a celebrity soccer match which was not bad, ronaldino was the main guy it was decent to watch. Stadium wise it's nice, good set up they have activities u can participate in, shops & food, although u may want to avoid getting anything here prices are so ridiculous, I was dying of thirst so I grabbed a coke , it was $7.50 , jesus crist talk about a rip off ! water was $7 & don't even get me started on the cocktail & beer prices wow such grossly overpriced food is unnecessary! Free events are great since u can at least get to participate in the activities but additional spending at the stadium can be extremely overboard so I would keep that in mind when attending anything at these stadiums. read more

My first time at this stadium and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Went there for the US open and even though it was the first round, the place was packed. Getting there does require a bit of walking as we ended up parking at the Skyview Mall and it was about a 20 minute walk from there. There is an LRR station right next to it, so if you come via train it would be much shorter. Security was a breeze and once you enter, it is more like a Universal Studios experience with several corporate enclosures that give you an immersive experience. We tried the Amex enclosure and there were plenty of activities inside including personalized tennis balls, Virtual table Tennis and even a tennis game video recording. We enjoyed the experience so much that forgot we were here to see a tennis match. After getting to the stadium itself, it was as if a festival was going on as more people were lined up at the food enclosures rather than the match itself. We saw a ladies singles where Jasmine Paolini was playing against Aiava, Destanee, none of whom I had heard of. It was a straight forward match with Paolini winning in straight sets. The main event was Medvedev vs a very unknown Benjamin Bonzi and what a match it turned out to be. Firrst of all most of the support was for Medvedev, but Bonzi ended up winning the first two sets. As he was serving for the match on a second serve, out of nowhere a cameraman walked onto the court. This hot the referee to award Bonzi a first serve, but Medvedev just lost it and created a whole commotion, first with the referee and then with the crowd who was very much behind him at that point. There was so much noise that play stopped for seven minutes as the crowd just roared non stop. This shook Bonzi so much that he ended up losing that set and even the next set 0-6 only to recover and beat Medvedev 6-4 in the final set. He did ended up getting a lot of support after that incident as they all felt sorry for him. It was a historic match, where Medvedev ended up getting fined 42K for his antics. We definitely got our money worth after all that excitement and watching a historic moment. The whole atmosphere, facilities, staff, stadium, cleanliness food was excellent. read more

Visited the stadium for a boxing match on a Saturday night. Parking to the location was a bit messy if you don't follow instructions to the t and you are left with navigating a massive parking lot to the bridge. No staff directing traffic to the train platform where you enter and confusion leading you to where to enter. None the less the location was well staffed once inside, and the views were great. For special events you do not having all the amazing food options but the tenders and la Frieda burgers hit the spot after a hot summer day. Bar options were super limited and ice was stingy. I have had the pleasure (and privilege) to have attended the US Open for the past several years; the vibes are on and I truly enjoy being on the grounds and watching the games. While I have always attended matches at Arthur Ashe Stadium, this year we changed it up a bit and decided to check out Louis Armstrong Stadium. The aforementioned Arthur Ashe is the largest stadium on the grounds and where all the frontrunners play their matches, but that's not to discount Louis Armstrong. Compared to Ashe, Armstrong is definitely smaller but because of that, you're able to be much closer to the players. We were seated on the second level of the stadium and had excellent views - better than any time I was at Ashe. I almost felt like it was "courtside" without actually being courtside. The stadium is relatively easy to navigate, and at least during my time there, not overcrowded or overwhelming like Ashe tends to be. In terms of amenities, they have several food vendors, albeit less than at Ashe, and a couple of merch shops (again, the selection not being as great as Ashe). Seats were comfortable, and staff is everywhere to help if needed. Overall, I had a great experience at Armstrong - it's definitely a great option to watch some tennis while at the Open (at a good price) and I would definitely consider watching a match here again. read more

Been attending the US Open for the last few years and it's always exciting to go to. Like any other sports venue don't go if you are not prepared to shell out a good amount for food, drinks, souvenir's, etc. I'm lucky to have a good friend who purchases several seats for clients max friends each year so I will never complain about the other costs incurred. The stadium itself is kept very clean, seats, stairs, escalators, stores, food kiosks for the most part are well staffed. The only exception was the Wilson store which did not have one person on the floor to help customers at the time. The staff was upstairs restringing tennis racquets. We watched an AMAZING match Saturday night between Grigory Dimitrov from Bulgaria and Alexander Zverev from Germany. Grigory took the first set with a tie breaker. It was a fierce battle with amazing long volleys. Grigory puts a spin when he slices his backhand that is deceiving. After Alexander tied it up by winning the second set in another tie breaker it was all down hill for Grigory. We were routing for him as my friend is from Bulgaria. Valiant effort, great game and you have to give props to Alexander for his endurance. This was one of the most memorable matches I've seen and it lasted almost 4 hours. Overall I would recommend attending the US Open at least once if you like tennis. read more

I've been to the Tennis Center a few times but 2022 was my first time in Louis Armstrong Stadium to view a US Open match. As compared to Ashe, Armstrong is much smaller which makes viewing the matches a lot easier. My seat was one section up from the court, but because of the size, even seats further up would have a very good view. Inside the stadium there are a few places to each which is a plus so you don't have to stand on the very long lines outside of the stadium to get food. There was only 1 bar to get liquor inside of the stadium but the evening I was there, 4 bartenders were working so the wait for drinks wasn't long. read more

It's always nice to go here to this smaller stadium on the Billie Jean King campus, with its retractable roof. You get to see the " encore" matches in this arena for free as opposed to the Arthur Ashe Stadium, where the premiere matches are featured. I like the smallness of the stadium where there are, really, no bad seats. The snack stands are typical fast food+ places. NOTE......there is a charge to get into the US Open. read more

Attend the US Open every year and hope to continue.... first time I watched all matches i attended in Louis Armstrong instead of Arthur Ashe. I really think i prefer it. Love wat hing tennis so I give the whole experience and venue an A+. But..... yesterday we were watching a women's match and the ushers weren't holding the fans back during play. Instead of allowing fans to proceed to their seats during player rests... they just let them traipse down the aisles while the players were trying to serve and play! It happened over and over again with the chair umpire calling for them to sit down. We were in the lower area and it was driving us (and those around us) crazy! So...... my question is this... why don't the ushers know the rule and routine? Why didn't someone who is a US Open representative catch on and handle it or why didn't the chair umpire use her phone to alert somone to the issue? Obviously the players were annoyed...the chair umpire was annoyed...several seated fans were annoyed... so how fid this even happen in the first place? NO ONE WANDERS DOWN TO THEIR SEATS DURING PLAY!!! But overall.... love the whole tennis experience! read more

Personally I think this is the better stadium to catch great matches compared to Arthur Ashe. First and foremost, free seatings. They're not just any free seats. They're great seats where you can catch the action very nicely. To get into Arthur Ashe, you have to pay for stadium tickets and your seats may not even be worth it as the players look like ants if you got the outer bowl seats. Unfortunately this stadium is being teared down in order to build another court with a roof over it. read more

Louis Armstrong stadium originally called Singer Bowl first opened during New York World's Fair in 1964. It was later divided to two stadiums Louis Armstrong Stadium and the adjacent Grandstand Stadium to host US Open. No 7 train is the easiest way to get to the US Open. Only small bags are allowed and there's a separate queue for people carrying bags. Check out US Open website for the list of restricted items. What you absolutely must carry is some sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, umbrellas/ponchos - it gets pretty hot and humid and almost always rains. We got ground admission passes from Ticketmaster for around 75$. Grounds Admission is only available the first eight days of the tournament, with access to matches held in the field courts, Grandstand, and portions of the Louis Armstrong Stadium. Except for the reserved court side seats on Louis Armstrong, with the GA pass you can grab a seat anywhere. The stadium seats 10000 and provides the chance to closely view the players, even without binoculars. The seats are pretty cramped and uncomfortable. The current stadium is scheduled to be replaced by a new 15,000-seat stadium by the 2018 US Open. The new stadium is planned to have a retractable roof which is much needed since rain disrupts the matches almost every year. On the day we went, rain disrupted the play for around 3-4 hours, but we lucked out because the Men's Single match between Roger Federer and Tommy Robredo got moved to Louis Armstrong stadium. With people leaving their seats due to the rain, we were able to grab good seats really close to the court and enjoy the action. The restrooms are located at the top of the stadium, I was expecting them to be nasty due to the crowd and the rains but it was clean. There are a lot of food vendors at the venue, as expected the food was expensive. There's a lot of activities going on at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center , you can wander around the different booths, grab food and drinks at the various stalls, people watch near the south plaza fountains, buy some memorabilia. If you want to exit the whole area you need to get your hand stamped and show both the stamp and your tickets while re-entering. Even if you're not a serious tennis fan, watching US Open is a fun if somewhat expensive way to enjoy the day! It's a completely different experience to watch live matches. I am pretty sure I cannot sit through any sports game on TV. But I had a great time watching live tennis at the stadium. read more

Watched Coco Gauff & Cat McNally win their doubles-match- I prefer Louis Armstrong to Arthur Ashe stadium bc the views are better, there are more shaded areas and If you're an Amex Black or Platinum card member- you can take advantage of the Centurion Lounge on the 2nd floor of Louis Armstrong stadium between matches. The food, drinks, service, and hidden speakeasy inside the Centurion Lounge are all great. Only downside is they don't play the matches on the screens inside the lounge. read more

In full disclosure I had never been to the old stadium but I certainly loved the new stadium. We had general admission tickets for this stadium so we were in the upper deck. No problem, the view is great from any seat. The one thing I would suggest is to keep in mind what time of day it is and look for a shady seat. The sun can be brutal. We never had a problem getting a seat, even with the general admission tickets. Love that they had the forethought to put fans in the overhangs. It really helps to keep the air moving a bit. Food options are good but not as plentiful as out on the grounds. Love the honey deuce cocktail available in the stadium and all over the USTA grounds. read more

The new stadium is absolutely fantastic! It should be for $600 million! I love the whole place! The space between rows is a bit wider much more comfortable.The American express centurion club is a welcome addition I just wish they would've made it four times bigger to get more people in. Food vendors and choices are still a bit limited you'd think they would take the opportunity to really showcase more NYC cuisine. All in all I loved it! read more

The Open charges too much for food and ticket prices are ridiculous. However, I have to give this particular stadium 5 stars for the historical significance. I saw Connors play his last match and who can ever forget Super Saturday from 1984. Cash-Lendl, Evert-Navratilova and Connors-McEnroe. You do not experience those personalities and champions anymore. Who can forget Jimmy's semifinal run at the 1991 Open when he was 39 years old. One more time ! read more
