Came in ready to buy an echelon and some ammo. It's my go to place, remember? They always have good deals for ammo. Naturally, the guys at the counter were busy so I looked through the glass display to see if they have the echelon in stock. Sure enough, they have it. I then check their ammo selection so I can tell him exactly what I want. So I pull a number then hop in the ammo line. Shortly after, a lady comes up to the counter and waited a couple minutes. When she realized she needed to be in another line for ammo, she then goes behind me in line. Then when the clerk was ready to take the next person, he just assumes that the lady that was behind me was next or waited the longest. He says to her "you're next, I can help you". So I walked out. I'm not in the mood to try to advocate myself when I'm visibly next in line, and actively watched the lady walk up to the counter. There's other places such as Turner's and Ammo Bros wouldn't just assume and ignore someone standing in front of them. I understand the process itself takes a little bit of time, but skipping a person that's next in line is not what I'm willing to wait for, let alone be ignored. I'd rather go out of my way (Turners and Ammo Bros) if it means I at least get acknowledged that I'm there. Not coming back anytime soon. read more

I stopped to pick up Bushnell Laser Bore Sighter. It says it's in stock at the Murrieta store. I asked the employee the checkout where I can find it, but he doesn't know. I Ordered two firearms from their website online to be picked up at this location. Both were listed in stock at the store but later after purchase one could not be found and had to be sent there free of charge so I'd recommend ordering online ahead of time or calling to confirm inventory. After getting email confirmation both firearms were ready to be picked up I made an appointment and came in. Everyone I spoke with was very friendly, I primarily worked with Scott who was great and very helpful. My experience at the gun counter seems very different from other reviews here. After confirming I had all required Identification and paperwork we began the process. It was as fast as any other experience I've had at other gun stores. was able to fully inspect both firearms and had any questions answered. This has been the most frustrating shopping experience of my life. I purchased two new guns and some ammo, and the process was a complete nightmare. It took four trips just to pick up the initial order. First, I was told I'd have to pay for two separate background checks to get my items at different times. After finally waiting for everything to arrive, I showed up only to find their system was down. On my fourth trip, I finally picked up the guns and ammo, but after getting home, I discovered one of the "new" guns was damaged. The store took zero responsibility. They suggested I might have to pay for the return shipping myself, so I contacted the supplier directly. The supplier was great and sent a replacement gun to the store, but the store then tried to charge me for a second background check. They claimed it was a non-waivable state fee, but my own research showed it's a dealer fee they chose to charge. Their system was down again, so I now have to make yet another trip and wait another 10 days. The lack of accountability is absolutely shocking. This was a single purchase, and it's been an endless series of problems. read more

This is one of my main places to shop for ammo because they have a lot of deals. They have a great selection of ammo from 22 to. 308 and beyond. The prices may not be the best, but if you catch them at the right time, you can get a get deal. There's other ways to get a better price here, but do the homework yourself. I've never had any issues here from the employees or the products. read more

My buddies always told me, "Don't go to Sportsman's for firearms". Never understood why until now. There is no sense of urgency behind the counter, which I partially understand because you're dealing with firearms and the law and all that. They really don't show any concern for the long wait times for customers and it takes foreverrrr to be seen, even with an appointment. Like today, I had an appointment and they took a dude in the ammo line to pick up his firearm that never even pulled a number. Everyone looks like they hate their job. Sorry that's the truth. One good thing is the price on their firearms but that's about it. I will give a shoutout to the gentleman behind the counter, forgot his name but he has Star Wars tattoos. He was excellent in my opinion and did a great job taking care of me. read more

Don't shop anywhere else but here! Great fishing selection, gun and hunting selection as well as camping. I've yet to meet a single employee that's not completely helpful and professional. Product and pricing is great! Awesome website as well with tons of product to ship to home and to store. More than a few times they have honored online pricing and discounts. Last week I tried to use their 4th of July coupon, the site glitched and my card blocked the transaction. Their corporate customer service was more than helpful and the on site managers and staff were more than helpful to honor the coupon pricing in store and work with me to make sure I got the discount. Not to mention the ridiculous extortion tax CA implemented on their residents, Sportsmen's went above and beyond taking the 11% tax hike and discounted all firearms and ammo sales. 1/28/25 I had a very frustrating experience at the gun counter recently, and I feel compelled to share. I showed up around 7:00 pm, and by 7:09 pm, I was 3rd in line to start the background check. By 7:11 pm, I was next in line. But unfortunately, the customer service was far from acceptable. Around 7:30 pm, I was finally approached by one of the employees, who was finishing up with another customer. Instead of a polite greeting, he rudely asked what I was there for, as if I hadn't been waiting patiently for a while. I explained that I was there to start the paperwork for my online firearm purchase. Instead of offering help, he started ranting about how he didn't have time for me, even though the process should only take 20-25 minutes, which would have been more than enough time before the store closed at 8 pm. What made it worse was that both counter employees were wasting time chatting with a woman (who I'm assuming was somehow related to them). They seemed more interested in socializing than getting through their tasks. I was just left standing there, and no one bothered to check the queue or acknowledge me. When I finally pointed out that I had driven an hour to get there, I got nothing but more hostility. The employee kept complaining about having more important things to do and didn't want to help me out. This could've all been avoided if someone had just been upfront at the beginning and told me, "We close at 8 pm, and we can only help two more customers." Instead, I got an unpleasant experience with a rude, aggressive employee who honestly shouldn't be in customer service. This was the same person I had dealt with during my first visit to the store, and it was just as bad the second time around. I really hope the owner takes these complaints seriously and addresses this kind of behavior because no one should be treated like that. read more

This place is amazing, a great alternative to the other big-box sporting/hunting/fishing stores. Really good selection and everything is right in front of you instead of having to order online. They have a fantastic selection of fishing, hunting, camping, reloading, and shooting gear and supplies. Additionally, they actually have firearms and ammunition on the floor/in stock. I had the opportunity to work with Brian Turner, who answered all of my questions and helped me find everything that I was looking for. They also have a great selection of footwear for hiking and hunting. Sportsman's Warehouse has an impressive selection of hunting and fishing clothing, as well s everything else that you might need to enjoy a day (or week) outdoors. Don't waste your time visiting this store in person to buy ammo.. the line is over an hour and a half wait time in length and when you finally get to the front of the line do your background check you've wasted an hour and a half because they don't have much of ammo selection.. completely out of ammunition for 3 different hand guns and rifles... Terrible service is the store, inexcusable wait times for a Chance to talk to rep about ammo available or in stock... The website I checked that morning said. 357. 38 special, and three other ammo types were available and in stock at the Murrieta location... I couldn't get a single person working the ammo counter or the gun counter to answer a question about available ammunition until my number was called or I waited for an hour and a half in the registration background check line... After investing an hour and a half waiting in line I'm finally able to do a background check get permission to buy ammo only to be told you don't have any ammo in stock for the caliber of weapons I'm attempting to purchase ammo for... I recommend you purchase your ammo online for pickup in the store versus wasting your time waiting in line and dealing with poor customer service and unprofessional business practices... read more

Man , I'm not sure who has the worst service in their fishing department it is a close race, Turner's sporting goods in Temecula the guy is never there and there's only one guy that can help you which is absolutely absurd nobody else in the store can help with that department and at sportsman's Warehouse everybody there has an attitude they took away all of their saltwater stuff they've only got 10,000 rods of freshwater and it's all a bunch of cheap s*** if I want to to buy zebco reels and rods I would go to Kmart, not to mention the Mexican guy didn't get his name that works in the fishing department has a major attitude just because I keep asking questions, I guess the only way to get good services travel 50 miles and go to Bass pro shop or go to a shop that only specializes in fishing because Turner's and sportsman's Warehouse do not even have a clue read more

The gun counter literally has the slowest humans known to earth. They are not even busy they are just extremely inefficient.They can't type so you have to sit there and watch them hit one key at a time. They make small talk with each other and others and while doing so they completely stop working. They also have a commentary on every piece of paperwork or policy. They could simply explain the instructions but no we have to listen to their thoughts on everything. They have a separate ammo line but not a pick up line for people who have already finished dros etc. One of the clerks after a sale instead of moving on to a new customer was literally explaining gun mechanics to a female customer on how to break in the gun. She never asked him anything. She was literally humoring him to be polite but at that point you can tell she just wanted to purchase and leave. If you want to be a firearm instructor that's great, do it on your own time but it's baffling to watch a guy literally give a 15 minute seminar while staring at a giant line. It lacks self awareness and is extremely poor customer service. To top it off after they finish one task they just abandon the counter. Like they need a water break and to prepare themselves emotionally before they can handle the next customer. I've never been so annoyed. Two hours to pick up so they could help literally one customer ahead of me. read more

There seems to be a lot of bad reviews regarding the firearms counter at this location. Honestly I've dealt with the firearms department on 4 different occasions so far and have had nothing but good and quick service. My most recent visit was very quick and easy picking up my firearm. Philip M. was very nice and quite helpful during my transaction. He made the experience great.
