Our guests are continuing to gush about the Spotlight team! Swizz was our MC and he was unbelievable, truly a Master of Ceremonies. From the moment the party started, he kept the energy high and the dance floor packed the entire time. The boys were constantly engaged between games, prizes, dancing, and nonstop fun. Swizz brought so much energy, humor, and heart to the event and did an incredible job making sure everything flowed perfectly. We recently hired DJ Joel and his team at our daughters Bat Mitzvah. Before the event Joel met with us a few times to make sure the event was customized for our family. The preparation really paid off and he helped guide us throughout the evening. Joel did a great job making sure the party flowed throughout and worked to consistently get everyone involved. Per his suggestion we played scavenger hunt musical chairs and it really got everyone at the party involved. Both kids and adults can't stop taking about it! The man has a sixth sense for knowing exactly when to drop the right track and what to say when he is on the mic. He leaned into the theme of my 40th birthday party and solicited some great stories from my friends. On top of that, Joel organized and coordinated some top-tier drinking games--including an epic 13 vs. 13 flip cup showdown (best of 7) that will be talked about for decades. He was energetic, engaging, and made turning 40 feel like turning 25 (but with better food and a slightly slower recovery). Unbridled Joy This was my second time planning a Bar/Bat Mitzvah and we used SpotlightLA this time. The first party I planned, my daughter's Bat Mitzvah, I used a different DJ company and they were extremely pushy. That pushy DJ company threw a great party, but everything had to be done their way. I had none of that nonsense with SpotlightLA. SpotlightLA wants to make you happy, and they try hard to tailor everything to you (and your budget). I originally tried to hire SpotlightLA for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah in 2022, but Joel Macht had to turn me down because they were SOLIDLY booked for our date. Nevertheless, I remembered how impressed I was at the time that Joel not only took the time to call me back, though he knew he was booked for the weekend I needed, but also, in spite of his busy schedule, spent his precious spare time giving me friendly advice (it was good advice, too). So, when my son's Bar Mitzvah got scheduled for 2024, the first call I made was to SpotlightLA, and boy am I glad I did! SpotlightLA starts out by exploring what your kid's hopes and dreams for the perfect party are, and then they make those dreams come true. Joel talked to me for over an hour, asking about my preferences and then chose Seth for our MC. Over the course of several meetings, Seth talked to my son and figured out what I DIDN'T KNOW, which was that my son didn't want to dance at his party (though he's really quite good at dancing). Seth planned us a party around games, instead of dancing, giving us tons of fun gaming options from which to choose. We wrapped people in toilet paper, stuffed people's shirts with balloons, turned ourselves into human game buzzers for trivia challenges, and had the best time ever. In fact, the most common comment I had from my guests was "I loved your DJ team," and what a team they were too! Great dancers, a fabulous DJ (Chris), and a terrific MC (Seth)! Chris had no problem taking a Spotify playlist from me for our cocktail hour; Chris had no ego wrapped up in my choosing the songs for that cocktail hour--he just worked to get me what I wanted. Seth was the ultimate MC! First, and this might not sound that difficult, but I assure you it's a big deal---he ALWAYS called me back when I had an issue and LISTENED. Plus, Seth was so considerate he even took on the job of negotiating with the hotel to get the event room setup I wanted and needed, so I didn't have to fight that fight! The dancers, too, were not above helping out with extra stuff---they had no problem handing out toys and candy and sunglasses and t-shirts and whatever for me when they weren't dancing or helping with the games. In a nutshell, SpotlightLA comprises a bunch of cool, considerate, cheerful people whose ultimate goal is to see you, your kid, and your guests happy. And we were. Team Joel and Seth for the win! We recently used Spotlight for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah for both DJ, MC, and Photo Booth services. They met with us in depth and worked with us every step of the way to have a fun party and customize it to my daughters/needs wants while still throwing a great party for the guests. I spent probably an initial hour+ with owner Joel in a prelim discussion before booking. With MC Seth we had an initial 2+ hour planning sessions and then follow up calls as well. I probably drove them crazy with a move from outside to inside 72 hours before the event due to heat, specifics on my montage display, minimal dancing to party atmosphere etc and they rolled with every challenge. We had a smallish party by LA standards (70 people), but MC Seth kept everyone having fun and engaged. My daughter even wanted non-traditional games, so MC seth brought out Macho Man and even an Eifell tower version of mummy wrap to fit the Paris theme. Great company and great event. We hired SpotlightLA before we even finalized the venue for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah, and it set us off on the right foot for all of the other planning that needed to happen to pull off an event for a crowd that spanned the ages of 4-94. Joel was a tremendous resource and very helpful to me in the months leading up to the Bat Mitzvah. I thought of him as my "Bat Mitzvah Whisperer". He really listened to me as to what we wanted (and didn't want) for our event. Joel and Seth are consummate professionals. We had the absolute best experience with Spotlight for my son's Bar Mitzvah! Joel, Seth and the team really listened to what my son wanted (dancing and games but with more of a focus on the games) and even went out of their way to include the scavenger hunt game even though the venue didn't have enough chairs and we hadn't thought we'd be able to do it (they got very creative knowing my son had really been hoping for it). Every step of the way was great with them - from the initial call with Joel, to the zoom meeting where Seth was very focused on what we/my son wanted, to coordinating the timeline and set up with the venue, and, of course the party. (An added bonus for us was that we were able to get the photo booth and handouts like sunglasses and light sticks from them so I had fewer things to have to coordinate.)
