I got here at 5:15pm but the owners were so accommodating. The dogs acted as greeters, which I loved. The view is beautiful, even on a cloudy day. I really enjoyed learning the history of the area and the winery. My favorite was the muscadine and the Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet that I purchased was aged in Appalachian oak, which I had never heard of. They gave me great recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the area. A true delight Signage made the location easy to find and the drive in was gorgeous. Service is delightful, and the hospitality is unmatched - it feels just like showing up at thanksgiving and meeting someone's new boyfriend/girlfriend for the first time. I felt welcome here and I left with friends. While the menu isn't extensive, everything I tried was good. These people have really taken the time to take a hobby into a way of life and it SHOWS. I'm taking home a bottle of Cabernet today that rivals even the 5 star vineyards on the west coast. A wonderful "mom and pop shop" that wasn't on my original itinerary is now the reason I'll be returning to Tennessee sooner rather than later. Definitely go, you won't be disappointed. read more

It saddens me that this local venue refused to book our wedding next fall. Spout Springs Estates is truly a lovely place and after visiting recently, my fiancé Rebecca and I were excited to plan a simple celebration of less than 25 people, no frills, no flowers, no fuss. We hoped to simply enjoy the view and wine on the pavilion at the estate and say a few loving words to one another in front of a small group of family and friends who love us. To quote their website: "Over the years, our location has also become a local destination for couples who want a scenic wedding venue. And who could disagree? Surrounded by beautiful farmland and majestic Tennessee mountains, we know of no better place to live, work, grow, and celebrate." ...unless you are LGBT. read more

This place gets superb ratings for the amazing view and venue itself. I don't know if I have been to a more scenic winery and highly recommend going when you can either of you lush green or fall colors. Unfortunately we were there in the middle of winter and it was still gorgeous although I knew it could be so much more amazing other times of year. One of my favorite pastimes on the weekends are searching for vineyards/wineries in the area. This one is just outside of Knoxville. Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the owners, Alice. She welcomed us with a warm greeting and immediately began pouring tastings. She shared some background information about the winery, offered a tour and allowed us time to meander through the gift shop area where their was an assortment of snacks that awaited us. My husband and I chose our favorite libations, mine was a Cabernet and he chose a Riesling . We found the perfect shady spot on their covered upper deck overlooking the grounds with vast Mountain views to enjoy. The only thing missing was some "Live entertainment" read more

I give this place 1 star for the sheer beauty of the venue space. However, I would never recommend this place to anyone, ever. They do not respect their customers, people who have paid them to use the space. They treat you like they are doing you a favor when you are paying to be there. They do not have a contract but did not like music that was played at our wedding reception and turned it off. Rude. When you rent your space to someone and do not have rules around an event then you have no right to shut down someone's event. The property was was drunk and rudely ended our event before we were suppose to end it. I'm absolutely appalled that they ruined a special moment for my sister. A once in a life moment that was ruined by these people. They should not be in the event business. It's super clear they are not hospitable, do not value their customers and do not want to be in the event business. I was searching Yelp for a local winery and came across this. The drive in was a little scary (the road from the east was only about one and a half car width) but I'm happy I made the trip. The views were incredible and I had the place to myself on a weekday afternoon. Gayle helped me, she was very knowledgeable about the wines and made this a great experience. The owner was tending to the vines but she stated he gives tours if he's available. I look forward to returning for one of these tours. They have food available (and you can bring your own if you'd like) but I didn't order anything (this time). I plan on returning for one of their events. read more

Beautiful venue space, wine was pretty good, but the owner was very rude. My mother hosted a reception for my husband and I who just got married and recently moved out of the state for his career with the Navy. This event was very special to us as we got to see family we haven't seen in months and some in years. During the entire planning process the owner was not very pleasant to work with and during the event he was just standing awkwardly watching us like a hawk. Our night got cut short because "his God did not approve of the music we were singing" during karaoke at the end of the night. There was no contract or verbal agreement on what music was allowed to be played. The song in question had bad words, but they were starred out, we were not singing them, and it was later in the night so we were not bothering anybody. I'm pretty sure he was also drunk which is highly unprofessional for a business owner during an event. The whole situation was disheartening. I'm glad we had a good party while it lasted but I do not recommend supporting judgmental, rude men who do not know how to separate personal options and beliefs from proper business behavior. read more

We bring a picnic or snacks and now they offer cheese and crackers you can buy to have with your wine! Very good! If you become a member you get invited to fun events throughout the year! Alice and /or Chuck often take us out to the vines and explain caring for the grapes or to their wine making room and explain the process! My wife and I discovered this place coincidentally. It is a wonderful little gem in the countryside, not far from Knoxville. As you near the property, it almost seems as though you may be lost, but you're not! The property is maintained impeccably by the husband/wife owners (who live in the winery). The log building has a very tastefully (but very small) decorated tasting room. The outdoor space is the real charm. Amazing views, ample seating, nice breezes, and plenty of space to spread out. My wife had a Cabernet (her favorite), and I had their Magnolia (muscadine). I prefer a semi-sweet (or semi-Dry) wine, but they were sold out of their Riesling. However, unlike most muscadines, this was not too sweet. I bought a bottle of it on our way out. The owners (and their dogs) are very friendly and accommodating. We are already planning our next trip back. It would be great for a "girls day out" too. read more

A fabulous little winery with the best views in TN. My wife and I wanted try something different besides hiking and boating in and around Norris Lake. We researched and ended up here at Sprout Springs Estates about a 44 minute drive from our cabin. The wine was delicious. I prefer a dry red and the Cabernet Sauvignon did not disappoint. Well Bodied with a bit a fruity aftertaste. My wife prefers sweeter wines and they had an array of those as well from Rieslings to Muscadines. I actually learned that people from the south pronounce it Musk-a-dine. I love it when I learn something new. The hosts were amiable and easy to talk to, and don't forget to say hi to the dogs. read more

This winery has awesome wine and a 360 degree view of the surrounding landscape. They offer a good selection of estate crafted wine including dry reds and whites that are hard to find in TN. I wish I could give 0 stars. Where do I begin...... my husband and I attended a reception for my bestfriend and her husband, and needless to say we will never be back. I have never been to a place of business and felt like I wasn't welcome more than I did at Spout Springs. From the time I arrived- I was noticing the owner always lurking around the edges of the rented space keeping an eye on everything making it seem like we were a nuisance. While the night went on the owner joined in, as we brought karaoke to the reception and was also singing songs with some of the guests (uninvited). Being the easy going people we are, we let him join in on the fun not realizing how intoxicated he was. When the guests started singing a song he didn't deem appropriate, he belligerently came up to the DJ and started touching his equipment trying to shut it off then got in the DJs face trying to start a fight. We shut everything down 3 hours short because at that point it was clear we were no longer welcome. To my understanding there was never a written or verbal agreement as to what we could or could not sing. Long story short- don't allow events at your venue if you aren't going to have a written contract stating what's allowed and what's not. Especially when it comes to something as little as music. read more

If you pass a few cows on a one-car-wide road, you know you're heading in the right area. It's a beautiful, secluded estate and I'd highly recommend bringing a camera. It has the family-owned feel, and the people are really friendly, and the man who served us the wine for our tasting probably knew more about wine than anyone we've spoken with. You know it's family-owned when they have a wine named after their cat, and another named after their dog, and they close "when it's dark". They only recently opened and have a great variety of wine. Tastings are $4 but they were kind enough to waive the fee if we bought a bottle, and we enjoyed their Cab Sav so we took that home. They also let us taste one that was stronger, a sort of port wine that was probably the best port wine we've ever tried- and we've tried a good few before. It's a hike but it's worth it. Beautiful property, friendly, informative staff- and they do weddings (and are very popular in that category). We took pictures after the tasting to remember the experience. read more
