Walking the grounds is free, and parking is also free. Admission to the live animal museum is approximately $7 per person, but be sure to check their website, as prices may change from time to time. Views of the Tappan Zee bridge and Hudson River are unavoidable which is a very good thing. Decent amount of walking paths and benches, in addition to the dedicated picnic area. Plenty of parking although it is paid via the Tarrytown parking app. Playgrounds are a bit dated but in great shape. Everything has soft, spongy ground around it. Good variety for different ages too. Haven't done the splash pad yet because it's winter but it is pretty sizable. Good amount of kids around here without it being overwhelming. Maybe not the most built up park in the area, but my toddler loves it and so do I.

Either option is definitely a workout, especially the steps, but it's worth it for the views at the top. You can walk across the entire dam and capture some nice photos. There are convenient public restrooms in the park. You can also connect to the Bronx River Parkway walking/biking trail, which is fully paved. They have a ton of festivals and cultural events throughout the year. Parking is free. Lovely Westchester gem.

His vision was of a theatrical, magnificent landscape blending Indo-Persian, ancient Greek, Roman, and Italian Renaissance designs. When I was last here in 2013, the Untermyer gardens looked sadly desolate and neglected. Today, the gardens have been restored to their true remarkable glory thanks 100% to generous donations in the millions. We could not have chosen a more perfect day to visit the celebrated historical Untermyer Gardens overlooking the Hudson on this glorious Labor Day Monday. I took many photos which do not do justice to the gorgeous scope and details of the beautiful manicured 43 acres. ***Open 7AM to 7PM - seasonally.*** There's more information on their website and QR codes at the entrance with rules to respect the environment. Admission is completely free, although donations are accepted to help preserve this incredible place--which is amazing considering how well maintained it is. It's the perfect destination to spend about two hours, whether you want to enjoy a peaceful stroll, take plenty of photos, or do a little of both. The breathtaking views of the Hudson River and the Palisades make the visit even more memorable. There's also plenty of free parking, which makes getting there easy. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that it can get fairly crowded on beautiful weekends, but it's absolutely worth visiting and returning to throughout the year.

But based on VE's info, the park goes further south into Yonkers and north into Hawthorne (maybe further up?). VE is a big-enough park with an easy path, a pond and open grassy areas. There are also some picnic tables past the entrance, where you can enjoy your meal and you can take in a cute view of a waterfall by the pond. As far as COVID is concerned, folks on either side of the path- whether walking, running or bike riding- ALL kept their masks! If you're looking for an intense hike- count this one out. And if tranquil is something you're after, with an easy stroll, VE is very doable.
