This past weekend, I took my SUV to get an oil change at Spreen Acura in Riverside. I strongly feel like Acura Service Department intentionally messed up my SUV so it can break down on me. Before heading down from Hesperia, I I was told by a person over the phone that they were really busy but I would still be seen if I headed down for service. When I arrived, Garet Cuuningham, told me "No" while rudely trying to turn me away. I asked to speak to a manager and asked for cooperates phone number because of the way I was being talked to the service representative. Garet then directed to talk to Bobby who was the service Manager. I explained to the manager how I had spoke to someone over the phone and how I just drove from Hesperia. Bobby gave me corporates so-called number, then did the oil change on my SUV right away. When it came time to pay, the Bobby told me. Don't worry about it, its on them." Bobby also brought up how I was going to have to replace the water pump and timing belt soon because of a small leak. Its only been a few days and the sensors came on, and my SUV is now--- MISFIRING. My Moms 2020 acura RDX is having problems. Static popping in speakers and problems with blue tooth holding and making calls. I found out online its a problem with this model car. So much there was a lawsuit that they lost and they also extended the warranty coverage to 6 yr 74000 miles. The catch is this dealership just to diagnose charges $249 which can go towards repairs. They could say its something else even though its pretty easy to figure out this is the problem. You would think they wouldn't price gouge in this situation. My wife purchased a new Acura MDX from Spreen Acura. She called ahead and Ryan the sales manager who was awesome, scheduled her with a salesman. When she arrived she was met outside by Paulo. He took great care of her and made sure she got exactly what she wanted. If not for a banking glitch she would've have been in and out within two hours. I found a factory bolt missing under the front bumper and my wife called up the shop. She made an appointment and when she arrived Paulo(salesman) was waiting for her. tl;dr -- This review is only for their sales. Salesperson Dustin was great but don't come here believing their online prices/thinking they won't use shady selling tactics. We would've paid $16k cash for a car but they raised it to $19k during price discussions. Not mad, just super disappointed. Will keep on my quest for a used Acura ILX. :( I wouldn't normally review a dealership except I was so close to buying a car here (used 2017 Acura ILX, originally quoted at $16k, would pay cash) before the experience was completely derailed by typical shady sales tactics. For what it's worth, I've been to over 10 car lots/dealerships in the past few months trying to find a car. All my experiences were also negative/meh, but this one takes the cake because I was dead set on buying this car after taking it for a drive. Tactics include: bait and switch, aftermarket add-on you can't say no to, long wait times We wasted 3 hours here on a Saturday morning despite being upfront about what we wanted from the beginning. The internet price was quoted at $16k and Dustin told us it would be $16k before printing out the price breakdown. For about 60% of our visit, things were great. Dustin was helping us and he seemed honest and aboveboard. We took the car for a drive and it was great. Not detailed clean, but drove fine. Dustin was very helpful without being pushy and seems to be one of those rare people you want to buy a car from. However, the manager (does the manager exist? we saw hide nor hair of them) and Andrew were a different story. After talking pricing, I'm cynical enough to believe it was all a good cop/bad cop sales tactic. If it wasn't, somehow that would be worse, as if good salesmen are only found at shady dealerships. Anyway, the quote was fine. I would have bought it at $16k in cash. However, after discussing financing, we were thrown for a loop by the pencil quote (breakdown of pricing). There was an optional "appearance protection" for $995 and an "active" security system for about $1300. After we asked Dustin, who discussed the options with his manager, it turned out that the appearance protection was optional but the security system wasn't. Then Dustin left and passed us on to Andrew. My dad was pissed. He had seen other reviews mentioning no bait and switch or shady tactics. He had called this dealer and confirmed there would be no forced add-ons/fees like gap insurance, security systems, or appearance protection. Now here they were, basically saying the price online was a mistake and it would actually now be installed with the security system and the end price would be raised to $19k or so online. The final straw of our awful experience: 1. Andrew telling us the security system was already installed (implying we had to pay the additional price for it if we wanted the car) 2. Us asking to see the security system in action 3. Andrew saying he would bring the car around 4. Us waiting 15-20 minutes (felt like forever) 5. Andrew coming back, saying the security system actually hadn't been installed but now it was being installed as we spoke 6. Us in disbelief, finally leaving Earlier, Dustin said he had taken the car to get a detailed clean since I wanted to buy it. If I wanted to believe the worst, maybe installing the security system had been their plan all along. I've never been so amazed at how brazenly shady car selling tactics could get. For $3k profit (?), they've definitely lost potential long-term customers, but that's all in a day's work. I wish things were different, but luckily there are always more dealers to try. read more

Purchased an Acura Integra there a few weeks ago. I noticed a mark up of $2000 for a security system. I told the them I didn't need it but was told it was already installed. I asked for a car that didn't have it and they said every car gets it once it gets on the lot. Had the car a couple of weeks and someone calls me to tell me the car needs to be brought in to add the security system. I said wait, wasn't it already in it and they said no. If i could I would leave 0 stars. Had the absolute worst experience ever trying to purchase an acura here. From the second James walked out to "help" us his demeanor was completely off. The entire time my family and I were checking out the acura I wanted he stood there, hands in his pocket, making sarcastic comments and being absolutely demeaning. He spoke to us like we knew absolutely nothing and as if we were less than him. When we were trying to talk to him about the price of the acura he laughed and said we couldn't afford what we wanted and didn't discuss the acura further. Instead he began showing us Kia's and older acura models which was nothing close to what we wanted. He told us "this is what's in your budget." My entire family was in disbelief of how he was treating us. This was his attitude the entirety of our time there. We were all extremely patient with him and we left feeling very angry and disappointed with his service. To top this off, his manager came out to defend the way James treated us. He claimed he never heard anything disrespectful or demeaning....i'm still wondering how he heard the way James spoke to us outside of the dealership, on the test drive, and in his cubicle....all the way from his closed office? We ended up purchasing the exact Acura I wanted at a better price at Irvine acura! The service and deals there were AMAZING. Anyways, please DO NOT waste your time here!!! First & foremost, My car looks like complete shit as if it didn't get the protection coat that I PAID EXTRA FOR & on top of that it's dirty as hell. So that tells me that the employees (Angel) just applied the "coat" on top of dirt. BUT I WAS SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE A COMPLIMENTARY CAR WASH AS STATED ON MY RECEIPT. I took my SUV in to get the protection coat applied since they couldn't do it last weekend and I was SUPPOSED to be notified when my car was ready but instead had to call & ask if it was. Read before purchasing!!! I purchased a pre-owned Honda Accord at Spreen Acura. At the time of purchase, I thought I had gotten a decent deal for a low mileage 2017 Honda Accord. It turns out this car has had both front fenders and one entire side repainted. This was not visible upon purchase as their carport provides shade and the day itself was gloomy. Now, paint is not a bid deal to me, however my concern is "why" was this car painted and furthermore why on an entire side as well? The shoty backyard paint job on the mentioned areas is also more dull, and you can clearly see the horrible filler(bondo) and sanding marks. I've been in many areas of the car industry including working at dealers and the level of customer care here was awful. I tried to resolve this with the sales manager Ryan Moody in regards to my findings. This led nowhere other than a classic attempt to offer KBB market value and trade it in for something else. Now why would I want to do business with them again? I'm only in this position because I was sold a car that had all these repairs. I questioned why this wasn't caught on a "professional" level and Ryan mentioned that all their vehicles are inspected twice. This doesn't hold true in this case. I encourage everyone to closely look over ANYTHING you purchase. Don't be fooled by a clean Carfax since not every accident is reported(especially outside of insurance claims). Took my Acura for routine maintenance. Carvwas done on time as promised, but a light bulb was on back order, something you can get from a local car parts place anytime. What got me is the 2.75% surcharges to use my credit card. A reputable buisness does not charge their clients to pay them. While the timing wasn't ideal given the pandemic, found myself in the market for a new vehicle. Social distancing and personal preference had my hands tied with regard to my usual process of checking out multiple vehicle options whether at the local car show or at various dealers. Instead, I did a whole lot of youtube and online review reading as I started to whittle down my options. When I finally decided on the Acura RDX, I started the adventure of engaging dealerships. Historically, I would do a split of TrueCar + some direct dealership engagements but my last purchase (2 years ago) revealed that TrueCar and Costco's previous competitive advantage has all but vanished compared to my willingness to engage directly. I reached out to all of the dealerships in the Greater LA area via email. Oddly, some (like Acura of Alhambra) completely ignored my inquires. While most dealerships were very cordial and helpful, Spreen stood out immediately. Edgar responded almost immediately to my inquiry (despite it being later in the evening). Over the next few days, while in the midst of some email conversations with a handful of dealers, Edgar, Chris and Ryan quickly began to stand out. Not only did they immediately, w/o any haggling give me the absolutely lowest price and best offer (without any dirty tactics)... Edgar and Ryan for example tag teamed to make sure I was never left in a lurch when asking questions. In fact, during one time slot when Edgar was unavailable (helping with a test drive), Ryan introduced himself and stepped in to answer my question to make sure I didn't feel ignored. Note that during this time, every other dealer shared their usual "that number isn't possible," "you're wasting your time" sliminess instead of trying to compete against a valid offer. None of them came within a stones throw or wink of what Spreen offered me right from the onset. I felt bad, but I had to reconfirm a handful of times with them since no other dealer came close and I didn't want to take a trip out to Riverside only to drive home disappointed if it didn't pan out. Edgar didn't seem bothered and happily responded to all of my questions. They even helped me make sure some additional accessories arrived in time for me to pick up with the car. Finally the day came and Edgar had the car ready for me. We did a quick walk around where I identified a few things that they took care of quickly and did a quick test drive. After that, we went into do the paperwork and Daniel with Finance was so lighting fast (just as others here on yelp mentioned). He didn't once even broach the topic of other add-ons, warranty extensions, etc... just like a machine I was in and out. In total, I think I was at the dealership for about 45 minutes including the walk around and test drive. Can't be happier with my purchase experience especially considering covid. I both love and hate leasing a new car. I like getting a good deal, and I like shiny new things, but I really, really do not enjoy the haggling process -- ESPECIALLY when I know the math behind leasing and can tell when a dealership is on the up-and-up or (more than likely) trying to stab me in the eye with a rusty icepick. My local dealer gave me a "pretty good' deal on a 2020 MDX but I knew there was room for maneuvering. I vetted this deal with another (less reputable) Acura dealer and was told that in no uncertain terms that I was absolutely reading the deal wrong and their MORE EXPENSIVE deal was better (hint: the deal was not, in fact, better). In the meantime, Jeremiah from Spreen Acura gave me a competitive - if not immediately compelling deal on the same car. Before I could formulate a counter-offer, manager Ryan called, made it clear he wanted to give me a no-BS deal, and verbally offered a *fantastic* price. I had to triple check with him because it was literally right at my target for what I felt would be the best I could get without making someone cry in the process. I drove to BFE---err, sorry, Riverside-- the next day and met with Chris who showed me the car and brought me in to see Daniel in financing. Total time: 10 minutes. I'm usually at the dealer a full hour for some nonsense at this point. I was mildly suspish. Daniel had forms ready and I was signing (well-explained) papers right as I sat down. I re-read the lease agreement four times because it was (1) exactly to the penny as I was quoted over the phone, which just doesn't happen and (2) being in the Complicated Paperwork Industry myself I don't trust anyone ever. I signed the lease, Daniel folded it nicely into an envelope, and said "here you go, all done. Chris will have your car ready out front." What the WHAT? I was in there like -- I dunno -- 20 minutes tops. No way a lease was handled tip to tail in that short of a time. Where was the waiting in the lobby for an undetermined amount of time for mysterious reasons? Where was THAT GUY who tries to sell me Clearcoat and the Extended Warranty and the Dealer Installed Automatic Fish Repellent other superfluous nonsense? (Spoiler -- apparently Daniel is "that guy" but he doesn't do "those things" because this isn't "that kind" of dealership!) I had keys in hand and TOTAL TIME spent at the dealer was under an hour. Normally I stick to reviewing restaurants on Yelp (Damn you Covid!), but I haven't had much to write about lately, so I've decided to get adventurous. I considered making an appointment, but instead just called them one morning to ask about availability. I was told I could come in immediately with no waiting (Thanks Covid!). It's a small dealership in the large auto center in Riverside. While I was waiting for the technician to check me in, I was surprised he wasn't wearing a mask yet other techs were. I found the lack of consistency a little troubling. I waited for my service by walking around the dealerships and sitting in an empty patio area. They have an inside waiting area with a TV, basic refreshments, and chairs. When I got my car, I was given a complimentary car wash, but I noticed it wasn't done with care. There were large portions of the exterior doors that were clearly not wiped. Instead of complaining, having them re-do it, I simply left. I probably would select a different dealership to have my car serviced in the future. read more

I just went in to Spreen Acura to negotiate a lease. Ready to roll cash in hand. Chris the manager unfortunately was so incredibly combative and unwilling to concede even a few mIles in our favor. In fact, when I said no do not call me back unless you are offering me something more than the same thing you keep offering. We literally said we Would have a deal if they agree to the difference of fourteen dollars on the monthly payment. Over the course of the three year lease lost us over 444 dollars. He even told our "product expert" if these clients are going to shop around we don't want them anyways. Ha ha ha ha. WHO DOESNT SHOP AROUND?!! ok. I said well then we are gone. Peace out. You had the chance to beat your own price. And now someone else will. And at this point to not have to deal with Chris, I'd pay thousands more happily. On a side note, Annika was super nice. tl;dr, the car is great, the service we received from Spreen was horrible. Chris and Devin did ultimately resolve our situation, but only after two months of repeated phone calls, emails, and opening a case with Acura corporate headquarters. My spouse works hard. 2021 year felt like finally the opportunity to reward herself. She has always admired the Acura brand and she's always wanted a luxury SUV. She did her research, landed on the perfect vehicle, and off we went to go get it, expecting a premium luxury experience. The RDX 2020 SH-AWD certified pre-owned drives amazing and it's very comfortable. Spreen though made three major mistakes. First, they had not properly finished the wheel alignment. They did not provide us with the wheel lock key. And they sent us home with a faulty infotainment system. We got the car in late May 2021. Every month for rest of 2021, we spent a Saturday trying to deal with the after effects of these mistakes. The wheel alignment was very frustrating -- I ended up at Glendale Acura twice, and then Cerritos Acura to get that resolved. That's another story, but it felt like no one at any SoCal Acura could properly align wheels. The infotainment system was disappointing. We spent a long afternoon at Van Nuys Acura waiting for them to replace a component that caused the audio to keep cutting in and out. There's a class action lawsuit about this matter. All impacted Acura vehicles should just have the faulty wiring replaced before a customer receives them. We need to do some regular maintenance on the tires and we disappointed to find out that Spreen had not sent us home without the wheel lock key. This was very frustrating and resulted in us having to pay to get the wheel lock broken and replaced for each tire. Spreen ultimately refunded us. My wife had high expectations for having a great experience with Acura and fulfillment of her dreams. What's happened here is a big pile of mistakes. Mistakes made by multiple people at multiple Acura dealerships. And we were left dealing with the effects of all those mistakes. 90% of our problems though stemmed from Spreen carelessly preparing and delivering the vehicle to us. This was not a premium experience. This was not what my spouse imagined at all when she purchased her first luxury vehicle. This is not what your brand stands for and you need to know that this has happened to us and that we are supremely frustrated and disappointed. read more

This is my first experience with Acura, and with Spreen. I had a very good experience at the dealership with Jerimiah, and was able to be out the door with my new TLX in about 2 hours. I think I would have been done sooner if I would have made up my mind about the car color that I wanted, I changed my mind THREE times about the color. Each time, Jerimiah was very kind, and showed nothing but enthusiasm about getting me the exact car that I wanted, and would be happy with. He brought the different colors of the vehicle around so that I could see them for myself, and when I was going to get a different color because I didn't want him to have to go and get the 3rd car for me to see, he insisted that he go get it for me to look at. I am so glad that he did because it was the 3rd one that I absolutely LOVED. This is the difference between a good experience, and a GREAT experience in my opinion. I think that I could have been done in about an hour if I would not have been so unsure about the color combinations. :) That being said, Jerimiah answered all my questions, he discussed all the options, demonstrated all the features of the vehicle, and overall just went above and beyond to get my business. He was very straight forward and did not play any games with me about the deal. This was my first visit to Spreen Acura in Riverside. Mathew in Service and His Technician Team made me extremely happy. You see, there was an electrical issue in the cab of my car and the lights were not turning on. Had no luck bringing it to another Acura dealer. This was my second try to get this electrical issue properly diagnosed and repaired. After the first/"other" Acura Dealership fixed it by replacing the fuse, within two weeks, the lights in my cabin went out again! Oy Vey! Spreen Service found the issue (loose connection at my driver side floor board), tightened the connection and had me out in no time! They also vacuumed and washed my car. Found a used car online that I was interested in. After putting down my email and phone number to ask a question, I was receiving multiple emails and text messages every day from Spreen Acura with the same question on when I was going to come test drive the car. I don't live in the area, I live quite far and I found it rather annoying to be receiving 3 emails a day, plus text messages with the same question by them. They did seem very nice answering my question though. So I decided to come check out the car a few days later. When I test drove the car I went inside with the salesperson and talked to him about negotiating the price. He said that was the best he could do and he would not be going any lower. He wasted my time asking questions with my personal info. I asked why he was taking all my info down and his reason was because he was creating a profile for me. Long story short, he ran my credit without my consent and then when I complained about it, him and his manager gave me attitude and asked "why I was here?" I was there to see what kind of deal I could get on the car, and come back in a few days after shopping around at other dealers if I saw that they were my best choice! They are sketchy people, nice online and rude in person. Do not waste your time here. Wish I would've read some of the reviews before coming by. read more

Don't waste your time and go to a different dealership, they use bait and switch tactics for the price just to get you in the door. Full story: So I saw a certified vehicle listed on their website at a good price. I filled out the form and got a response that the car was available. I also requested the total price including taxes and fees but the salesperson Elena Rosales would not tell me the total price. That was a red flag that I should have paid more attention to, but she only mentioned taxes/title fees/etc. so I thought it would be okay. I made an appointment for a test drive the next day. Once I arrived we did the test drive and the car was in good condition. Then we got to the price. The general rule for taxes/title fees/etc. is about 10% of the vehicle price. It can vary a little bit depending on where you reside, but I was shocked to see a huge price increase when we got to the total. There were two dealer installed "options" called clear coat protection and security system, totaling about 3500 dollars. During the test drive I verified the price and Elena did not mention anything about this. When I mentioned I didn't want the dealer options Elena immediately got defensive and said she would ask her manager what to do. Someone else came by and explained "all dealerships now do this, we might be able to negotiate a bit but you have to buy them, market is in our favor, etc." The thing is I bought another vehicle a couple months ago when the market was just as bad for buyers, and only one out of 4 dealerships did these bait and switch tactics of not giving a price beforehand and then adding useless fake options to up the price. So yes some awful dealers will try to rip you off in anyway they can just like this dealership. But not all dealers are like that, some will put up prices and then actually honor them with no hassle. Go to one of those honest dealerships they deserve your business, don't come here and waste hours of your time for nothing. read more

Over the course of approximately 1-2 weeks while out of state, I was negotiating with Srpreen Acura in Riverside, CA on a previously owned 2022 RDX. When I returned, a final price had been agreed upon and a day set to look at the vehicle. On the morning of the appointment we received a call from the salesperson asking if we were still coming to the dealership to see the vehicle because another person had called about the RDX. He stated that the other person wanted to come in at 2 pm. We said that we would be there by no later than noon. At 11:13 am (while on the road for 30 minutes) a text was sent to us about a possible sale. We did not receive the text because we had no service in the Cleveland National Forest (did see it later). When we got to the dealership at 11:45 am, we were told that the salesperson went home sick and the vehicle was sold earlier that morning. Sales manager offered no apology, but said that they had tried to call us. Needless to say, we thought the salesperson (who still hasn't contacted us with an explanation) and the sales manager acted very unprofessionally. We were on the road for 1 hour to get to the dealership. Acura headquarters in Torrance, CA has been alerted to this situation. read more
