I think I need to book a room here. This is a very nice Embassy Suites on the west side. They have been here for about a year and we have talked about checking out there happy hour. Very nice decor, lots of TV's, tables with comfy chairs and couches. Nice and quiet and relaxing here. The service was great, our bartender was very nice and provided quick service and made really good Moscow Mules. The Happy Hour food was excellent. We had a chicken Quesadilla, spicy Mac and cheese and my wife had also calamari. This is a great place to hang out. We heard from the bartender they do have special holiday meals so I think we will have to come back for one of those events. read more

I love surprises. Of the good kind. This place has it. A business class hotel restaurant. The place you hope to have a rental car to avoid. Don't avoid Sprigs at the Embassy Suiites in Hillsboro. First, the bar has some great beers. The wine list? I'm not an expert, but it did seem kind of spare. The menu had some interesting selections I would have liked to try. Turkey meatballs with mole sauce? With others to help me, I would have been all over that. And looking at the pastas, and noodles with pesto as a side dish, an Italian influence is clearly on the menu. I ordered the brined chicken breast with thigh, applewood smoked. It was served with a coconut/ almond curry "pudding", and fermented black garlic salt. What? To summarize. When the waitress was trying to clear my plate, I had a single bite of chicken left, I said, "If you want to lose your arm". It was that good. The mixed vegetables? Grilled carrots, sweet potatoes and brussels sprouts. Nothing out of a freezer bag on that plate. It's not a huge menu. But damn, they do a great job. I'll definitely go back there when I'm in town. Great happy hour menu and friendly staff! I love the macaroni and cheese. It's nice that the bar is open late for travelers who get in late from Portland. There aren't really any restaurants within walking distance of the hotel but the food here is great and not even too expensive. read more

I didn't order anything special so my expectations were not all that high. The Brussels sproutes were either soaked in butter or beer, unsure of which but i liked them. The chicken tacos were great. Although the corn tortilla fell apart pretty easily. I appreciate then offering a corn tortilla as an alternate choice to flower. Yes the gluten thing is real and pretty scary. We came here because it was advertised on our passport discount (look it up, gives good bogo deals). The place was set in a fancy embassy suites, with great decor. These guys are really hurting for customers, we were the only people there for lunch, and they had about 25 tables. But the food was great! Burgers were fantastic and food came out reasonably in time. We will be coming here again. read more

We decided to try somewhere new and I came across Sprigs Grille on OpenTable. So Delicious! We had calamari, onion rings, Mac and cheese (no bacon), spinach and butternut squash lasagna, and the fish and chips. Followed by the New York cheese cake and a chocolate torte. I can't say enough about this property, the Sprigs Grille, and the adjacent lounge. I usually sit in the lounge (same menu) - Casey (culinary lead) is nearby almost every night, and seems to be waiting for someone to challenge him on something exotic. Tonight, I wanted a low-carb feast, and was personally served with a warm and tasty feast of pulled pork, BBQ chicken, and asparagus. DELICIOUS! Thank you Casey :) I've also gained a greater appreciation for what it takes to run a full-service lounge - keeping customers' glasses full, graciously providing quality service to difficult customers, and dealing with me! The lead bartender (Jay) has been tending to the lounge for as long as I've been coming to this hotel, and is right there to greet me with a smile and a chilled glass of wine. GREAT SERVICE OVERALL! Okay, this review won't be complete without sharing how much I've enjoyed the hospitality and warmth that comes from Willy (rooms director) and his effervescent smile and positive attitude every time we make eye contact. I walk into the lobby, and can't help but smile. I'm sure there's a ton of backroom 'business' that needs to be tended to, but Willy does an amazing job of separating the good from the ugly whenever he's with a customer. CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK. We came to this restaurant for mothers day. This was our first time coming here and felt very un-welcome. We made reservations a few days ago with no problems on open table. When we arrived we see a "seat yourself sign" which was off putting. We sat ourselves to the largest table we saw set up. We had called earlier to add 2 more people to our reservation of 11 and when we arrived the 2 were not added so we moved a table over ourselves. The server Austin came over very irritated when we said we had to add another 2 people by saying "We don't have enough room" we said well we moved the table over he said ok then. Keep in mind we were the ONLY table. Until another 3 top came in. The service was slow since the servers have to take care of the room service for the hotel as well as the dining room. The server came out and said "I hope no one wanted salmon, as we are out and if you did you are screwed!" Wow....he really just said that? We ordered and as food is being delivered he drops a plate of food on my daughter in law. He did apologize and comp her food. To top it all off we had to listen to the janitor wax machine the entire meal as our table had to go to the restroom during the meal we had to go around a janitor WAXING the floors with no signs out. Many of us almost slipped and fell along with other guests coming off the elevators. Needless to say we were not impressed. The food was cold for some and ok for others it was just ok. We expressed our concern to the front desk clerk on our way out however all she could do is apologize. Sadly to say this is our first and last time visiting this place. This is not how I wanted to spend my mother's day along with the 3 other mom's that were with us. My fiancé and I were looking for a special place to celebrate our anniversary. This was the perfect location. Not only are the beautiful suites in the hotel along with the free cocktails and breakfast amazing but the restaurant Sprig's was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. The prices were great for the quality, portions and menu selection/creativity/flavors. We ate there for lunch and dinner. Dinner was my favorite. I had the "scallops 3 ways" and my fiancé had the top sirloin culotte steak. We finished with a nitrogen infused ice cream trio with amazingly delicious sauces. Very fancy dessert! At lunch I had their famous butternut squash bisque and let me tell you... I will definitely be coming back for more of that! My fiancé said his order of the fish and chips was the best he had ever had. I'm not a huge fan of fish and chips but he urged me to take a bite and I found a new favorite! The ambience and service were both just as great as the food. The servers were very friendly, polite and attentive. We had a different server for both visits and each of them were very personable and seemed to go above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our dining experience. The only thing we could even complain about is that weren't sure if the restaurant was open at first. The server explained it was open for lunch 11-2 and dinner began at 5pm until 10 I think. Googled places to eat near me and this place came up with 4 1/2 stars. Some people were high when they ate here. We hade the calamari and coconut shrimp for appetizers, they were most likely pre made and bought from cash and carry, just average. My wife and I had the brisket that was advertised as hand rubbed for three days and hickory smoked. What a joke! The meet was bland almost like watered down. My wife ate one small piece of the meat. I was hungry so I ate what I had but damn. I can't let the reviews on the website fool people so I have to yelp them. Consumer beware. read more

I don't generally have super high expectations of hotel bars (though I am sometimes pleasantly surprised) but I will not be coming back here..., period. I ordered a simple vodka Redbull and was a bit floored when I read the bill to find that I was charged $15..., again, for a vodka Redbull. My wife had an old fashioned (which was generally well made) but at the end of the drink she ate the cherry and made a terrible face. Apparently the cherry was stale/dry in the middle and tasted terrible. We don't have super exotic taste but do expect that basic cocktails are made with quality ingredients and are reasonably priced for what they are. Very disappointing..... read more

We were rather disappointed in this restaurant. Last night was our first time there. We arrived about 6:30 and found it pretty empty, with only one other couple there. Not a good sign for a Saturday night. The menu was adequate, offering a small variety. When the waiter came to take our order, he was going to walk off without asking us what we'd like to drink. Also another bad sign. The food took average time to arrive. While there was nothing horrible about the brisket we'd both ordered, there was also nothing great about it. It came with potato salad and Cole slaw, which were average. However, the waffle corn bread tasted like lemon. Personally, we felt it was not a compliment to a BBQ meal. In closing, the food and service were ok at best, but not worth another trip or the money. read more

Absolute hidden gem. I live in the Hillsboro area and consistently recommend the embassy suites to family and friends. The hotel is top notch but the bar service is what keeps them coming back. Last visit, during winterpocalypse '17, I went to visit my parents in the hotel. The roads were treacherous so I decided to join them for dinner and cocktails in the bar. Allow me to preface the story with two important details: 1) I've been a bartender for 17 years and have had my fair share of busy nights, 2) the road condition and virtual widespread shutdown of all eateries meant every hotel guest had decided to eat, drink and be merry AT the hotel. So we walked into the busiest hotel bar and restaurant I have ever seen. We were fortunate enough to grab a few chairs at the bar and hunkered down to grab a couple libations while we watched the storm of shit unfold. Only, instead we were greeted by the bartender, Jay, who had the calm air of a professional ready to handle the thirsty masses. This man was a testament to the service industry. A shining beacon in the dark hallows of bartending indifference. When life gives this man lemons he doesn't give you lemonade, he gives you a sumptuous sidecar. He has a rapier wit combined with a social grace that would cure even the most melodramatic soccer mom's malaise. Anyway we enjoyed his company and I was amazed how well he handled the sequestered throngs of guests. If you visit the embassy suites be sure to stop by the bar to see Jay and get a joke and a drink. We have gone to this place several times, and really enjoyed our visits. Fish & Chips are our favorite, but they have other menu choices (including a few vegetarian options) that are very good. Checked out the restaurant for dinner as we had a bogo through passport. Kind of a strange location for dinner, however the ambience was nice. We are from the area so no need to stay at the hotel itself. For dinner, I got the New York steak and he got the salmon. The steak was nicely done, however the side dish of a horseradish potato cake was just ok, kind of dry. The salmon was very tasty but the side dish of quinoa had a strange after taste. Overall, main dishes were worth getting but the side dish game could use some work. We also got a dessert item from their menu, the creme brûlée, which I'm fairly certain was a frozen dessert tart. Definitely not worth it. I'd like to come back to check out their HH menu but being so close to Portland, I'd much rather battle the traffic to go downtown somewhere for a steak and salmon dinner. read more

I drive up and down evergreen road on my daily commute to work. I had heard from a friend of mine that the restaurant "Sprigs" inside of the hotel is a phenomenal place to eat. After work I apprehensively decided to go there for dinner by myself (which can be even more daunting) and gave it a shot. Immediately after walking into the hotel I was blown away by the modern design and detail that was put into the place. The front desk greeted me with the same respect they would a guest and pointed me in the direction of the restaurant. The wine and cocktail list were extensive and impressive. Although, I decided on a regular coke because I still had some of a commute left. I then started with the Meatballs and stuffed ravioli, indulged in the best fish n chips I have ever had, and finished the meal off with a lemon cheesecake. Everything was absolutely wonderful, including the service. The server informed me that the hotel offers complimentary breakfast (bacon, eggs, hash browns etc.), a reception that lasts from 5:30 to 7:30 that includes snacks and free drinks (wine, beer, mixed drinks), and encouraged me to come back and stay in one of their two room suites. With all of that being said, I booked a room as I was walking out after dinner. I have no doubt in my mind, my girlfriend will be highly impressed with the place we're staying this Valentines Day. read more
