We hit this place for happy hour in the evening and we made a great choice (not bragging:). A fun time in an unexpected location at Orenco. They are rather popular even for HH so definitely make a reservation. Like with many HH, a drink is required but they have many options and overall do a great job on all of them. Food-wise solid portions for the price. HH tends to add up when you are having a little too much fun but this places enabled that (a good thing). Clams were seasonally small so I wish I skipped that but no fault of theirs. Had an absolutely Delightful night at The Dignitary tonight! I started with a glass of Spanish wine: a Monastrell. It was as good as ever and has become one of my favorites. I would have never discovered it if they hadn't served it here. When I'm honest with myself I have to admit that I don't greatly enjoy most of the wines I have at restaurants, even spendy wines. But this one I truly love. No exceptions. No regrets. It is delightful every time I have it. I greatly appreciate the time and effort they put into selecting the wines for their restaurant. Next I warmed up with a House Salad. It was rich and super tasty. For dinner I had the Braised Beef. It was absolutely scrumptious. Tender enough to cut with a fork. And bathed in a deep, rich, soul-satisfying sauce. Atmosphere is also important to me and I love the feel of this place. It's cozy and warm with soft lighting. And I especially enjoy the music. Service is always terrific. They recently expanded the seating in the restaurant to help meet the demand and I'm not surprised. What a fantastic new addition to Hillsboro! read more

Went on a Saturday for a late lunch (restaurant opens at 3 pm... luckily I was there just a few minutes before). All the team was very welcoming and attentive. Seasonal menu is very good. Happy hour food is good and well served. I wish there were 3 sliders in the slider dish, but 2 is ok. I met a friend after work on a Friday evening. We were so lucky to get a seat at the bar. This is a great place but the space is small so you should plan ahead. The staff is amazing and the owners are so friendly and welcoming. They have a very diverse drink list and an amazing food menu. This is in my general local area. I have no qualms about driving downtown or to other niche neighborhoods though this new addition to Hillsboro will make me think twice before making that trek. read more

Tremendous first visit to the Dignitary. We have been anxious to try the restaurant in the former setting of Orenco Grill, and we will be back. The food was perfect. We started with a Lemon Drop and a Whiskey Sour...which were excellent. My wife being vegetarian had the Spinach Dip off the Happy Hour menu. Then she had the House Salad and I had the Caesar Salad. Both were extremely flavorful. She only had the perfectly cooked asparagus for her entrée, while I enjoyed the Chicken Piccata. So good with the asparagus and the mashed potatoes. Shannon, one of the owners was our server and she was extremely engaging and her timing could not have been better. We like the open space that the owners have created. Great vibe. Orenco grill 3.0. ? I so had hopes for the new branding of this restaurant. The started off strong with a lovely basque white wine on the menu but things went downhill after that. Ordered the whipped ricotta with honey and Pistachio. It was served cold with what seemed like stale ruffles bottom of the bag potato chips. Moving on to the main course the chicken was dry and over cook while the mashed potatoes were cold and the asparagus was so charred it was bitter. The burger was fine but not exceptional on par with Red Robin. The truffle fries were under cooked and on the soggy side. They changed some of the fixtures and furnishings and added dark paint but not a real departure from the Orenco grill. Service was friendly but lacked attention to details for the prices on the menu. We didn't finish our meal but were never ask how it was. Overall impression was the menu, Service and quality does not align. read more

After reading the reviews we decided to try this place for dinner since we were in the area. It's a nice looking spot in the Orenco mall area and easy to find. It has lots of parking and is clean and comfortable. It's also pretty loud with music and people but too bad to deal with. They have a somewhat limited menu but enough things so that it is easy to find something for everybody. The wait staff is friendly and professional and very helpful. The wife ordered off the special menu a double cut pork chop and I had the King Salmon. My Salmon was great, a large portion perfectly cooked with sides of potato and carrots, all very tasty. My wife was looking forward to the chop but while it looked nice when delivered it was almost impossible to eat. Even with a large steak knife she had a difficult time cutting a piece off, I took the knife and was able with some effort to cut a few pieces for her but they were too hard to chew. She did say that the sauce on the Pork was delicious though. When the waitress asked how everything was I told her that the Salmon was great but the chop was too tough. She offered to replace it with something else but I was almost done and we had been there for 40 minutes by then so we told her that we would take it home and grind it up for the dog. She had the manager come over and the manager asked about things and we explained the issue and after a bit of time she offered to remove the price of the chop which was nice of her. We did bring it home and put it through the food processor and are feeding it to the dogs. Sometimes things just don't work out but we will definitely try this place again just stick with the regular menu. They handled things very well and we appreciate it. read more

I made a reservation here for a group and what followed was one of the most poorly managed dining experiences I've had in a long time. It started before we even arrived--I got a call at 6:46pm asking me to come later so they could "clean the table." That should've been the first red flag. When we did arrive, we were seated at the wrong table with fewer chairs than our party size. From there, it just unraveled. We waited about 30 minutes before a manager finally came over, and instead of offering any real solution, we got a vague "we're working on it." Meanwhile, multiple obvious fixes were ignored. A table we were clearly waiting on lingered with extra unused chairs, another group nearby had finished and sat with dirty dishes for ages, and no one made any effort to prioritize a reservation that had been booked in advance. About 40 minutes in, we were told a "regular table" was opening up. Ten minutes later--50 minutes after our reservation time--we were finally seated...at a bar-height table. Not ideal, but especially ridiculous given we had a baby in our group, forcing the parents to hold her while they tried to eat. The most frustrating part was the manager's response: "I'm doing my best, there's nothing else I can do." That simply wasn't true. There were several clear, reasonable ways this could have been handled better, starting with basic communication and proactive table management. Instead, the responsibility seemed to fall on an overwhelmed hostess while management stayed reactive and ineffective. To be clear: if you can't accommodate a reservation, say so upfront. We would have happily gone somewhere else. Between the disorganization, lack of accountability, and a limited menu that doesn't justify the hassle, this place is not worth your time or money. The only bright spot of the night was our server in the cocktail area, who was the one person actually doing their job well. Personally and professionally, I won't be coming back or recommending this place to anyone. read more

Went in for happy hour today. I usually go to copper river. Which turns out to be quite ironic. Service? Excellent! Like really top notch. Drinks? Delicious. Perfectly made. Food? Absolutely amazing. I had the happy hour steak bites. The steak was slightly tough, but it made up with flavor. Gorgonzola sauce was so good. I will be back. It's an impoverishment over Orenco Grill though, honestly if you didn't notice the new name on the sign you might well think it was still the Orenco Grill with a refreshed menu. The drinks are still great. The Kobe smash burger is also excellent and the fries that come with it are solid. Both provide a reason to go back. Ditto the service. The steak bites were pretty good. The truffle Mac n cheese was OK, not great. A little on the dry side. The wedge salad was meh at best (dressing bland and pancetta didn't have a lot of flavor). The biggest problem -- which was the same problem Orenco grill had -- was with the steak. The sub-par steak is not remotely worth the high cost. Not even close. Low quality ribeye just doesn't fly. Add steak fit for a dignitary and you have a different restaurant. read more

After 45 minutes we checked in with the hostess who said the list had not moved, as all of the reservations had came in. Was told it would be probably another 30-45 minutes. Told her we would like to stay on the list, that we would continue to wait. An hour and a half later we still hadn't received a call. It would have been fine if they had told us that they were unable to seat us instead of keeping us waiting. We were regulars at The Orenco Grill before it became The Dignitary. We've tried The Dignitary a few times. We like a particular booth because it's away from the sports bar part and quieter. The last two times I made a reservation, we were promised the booth, and arrived to find it occupied. No problem, really. We noticed it was pretty noisy in the main section booths. When they remodeled, they took away to tall backs, and the tall section that extended the wall between the booths and the open kitchen. So, the noise was free to roll around at will. On Monday, we decided to give it another try. I talked at length to the person who took the reservation, telling her our last two reservations for the booth around the side were taken when we got there. This was for my husband's 72 birthday, so I really wanted that booth. The person who took the reservation said she would make sure to make a note to have it ready at 6:30. Great! When we got there, the hostess didn't even see our reservation at all. The place was packed (so I doubt this review will have an impact - they seem to be doing really well), but we had to take a booth directly across from the open kitchen. There were two large parties as well. The noise level was very high. I have a decimal app that clocked it at between 75 - 80. That's about the sound of traffic on a busy street, or a vacuum cleaner or garbage disposal. And I took the reading when there wasn't the noise of plates clattering in the kitchen, which was brief. 85 is when OHSA steps in at workplaces to provide ear protection. We had to yell at each other. I think the high backs on the booths and the wall (which was a lovely amber glass) between the booths and the kitchen would have mitigated the noise, as it did with Orenco Grill. They looked slammed, especially with two large parties. I understand being slammed as I was a server for years. The kitchen can't keep up with the orders, and the food was coming out very slowly, with the servers trying to mitigate the customers. Drinks were slow as well. An elderly couple (even older than us) waited for a very long time. I noticed their chatting had stopped, and they were just staring out the window. The server came twice to apologize. The slowness of food and drink, coupled with the noise, didn't make for a pleasant evening. The food has always been excellent. I almost always order the small plate of steak tacos. Even though it was a "small plate", I still would take home at least one of the tacos. And they were gluten-free and open-faced. SO GOOD. I ordered the salmon this time and asked to replace the fingerling potatoes with mashed potatoes (I have a bad tooth that's being pulled in a few days). That was cheerfully accommodated. My husband's New York steak was fabulous. Our server was friendly, but as she left our table, I could tell she was stressed. I think everyone was. It seems to be a young staff, and sometimes it takes time for everything to settle, especially in this business when things are still being worked out. They were hustling, but sometimes things get ahead of you. Ah, I remember those days. I don't think we'll be back after three reservation mishaps, however. I wish them luck! We ate here for a 24 yr wedding anniversary. We were seated a few minutes after our reservation, which was not a big deal. Restaurant was quite lively, and the aesthetics were pleasing. We were seated at a high top table in the back corner, which was not great, the person seating us told us it would be tight and the tables were small, but it should be fine. Waitress told us the items we ordered would be staggered as the table was small. We ordered 1 appetizer (Bruschetta), and 4 small plates. Steak bites, truffle Mac and cheese, Elote street tacos and half order of Braised shorts ribs. The steak bites and truffle Mac came out before the bruschetta appetizer. The server told us that there were a few large parties so the stations get backed up. Ok, slightly annoying the kitchen cannot manage the order of items. The steak bites were great, would order again or order a full meal of them if available. Truffle Mac was piping hot and decent portion size. Bruschetta was nicely flavored, the bread was pretty soggy. When I order the street tacos I asked if they came with onions, yes. I decided against them as I do not like red onions. The waitress checked, it was possible to order without red onions. Perfect. Well, the tacos came out with red onions. I opted to eat them as we were over an hour in and I did not want to wait for a remake. The volume of onions overwhelmed the tacos. They were a decent portion size, but disappointing. My wife enjoyed the short ribs. Dinner was approximately 90 mins and service was exceptionally slow. We declined dessert. I have a difficult time recommending this restaurant. I would expect a restaurant to be able to serve patrons in a timely fashion regardless of other large parties and orders correctly. Not sure if we will go back. read more
