When you order three dishes and not one stands out as a good one, it's definitely a letdown. Sautéed Brussels Sprouts - didn't seem sautéed at all, they tasted more deep-fried. They were crispy but overly oily, and the creamy mayo-based sauce didn't pair well with them. This Appetizer took too long to come out. For the Ahi Poke Tuna - Glad I asked for the sauces on the side. Even with three sauce options, none really worked with the dish. One dark sauce tasted almost like molasses, overly sweet and not something you expect with poke. The chili sauce was also too sweet, while the soy-based sauce tasted excessively salty (fish sauce maybe added in it). I added malt vinegar myself just to balance the flavor. Also, it would be nice if the fish was seasoned with salt(or something) to alter the fishy flavor. The Fish & Chips was average at best. The batter was uneven, with some parts way too thick, though the fries were okay. After a long day of travel, we found Copper River Restaurant on Yelp and made a reservation based on the Happy Hour menu. When we arrived and were seated, we asked to see the Happy Hour menu, only to be told it was limited to the bar area and restricted to guests 21 and over. This wasn't clearly stated when we booked, and when we raised it, the manager responded rather dismissively, saying it was on their website and noting that other guests had complained about the same issue. That alone suggests the policy isn't being communicated clearly enough. It would make more sense to offer Happy Hour throughout the restaurant, as many places do. Unfortunately, the experience left a poor impression. We left, and won't be back. read more

Copper River has become a frequented spot for us for happy hour. Their service at the bar is always friendly and attentive. They updated a few items on their HH menu and I really like the wagyu sliders and chicken tenders. They have more creative options than most happy hours and their drinks are delicious too! read more

We were staying in the area and wanted to try a place we hadn't been so we checked out Copper River. We went around 2:30 on a Monday so it wasn't that busy. We had the scratch made corn fritters for an appetizer which were tasty. My husband had the Chicken Pot Pie, he said it was pretty good. My son had the bacon Cheeseburger with fries. My daughter and I had the Cheeseburger. I got mashed potatoes for my side and they were delicious. We tried the Hot Scratch Made Donuts which were very good. Our waiter was great, kept refilling our drinks without being asked. The staff were all friendly. We discovered Copper River restaurant as we drove into Hillsboro. We decided to try it for a happy hour and we are absolutely thrilled to have found a new favorite place! We ordered several of the happy hour special items plus a porter, a stout and a hefeweizen. We ate the wagyu sliders, the California roll, the chicken tenders, the steak bites, the pear and Gorgonzola salad, and the spinach dip. All of the items were tasty, looked freshly prepared and served promptly, and artistically plated. Standouts for us were the steak bites, the California roll, and the spinach dip. Service was great! I find that the prices are generally higher than average for the market in equivalent establishments so that's a major setback for me. For three of us in my party, it was $125 plus tip for three dinners, an appetizer and dessert. If I come back, I would be much more likely to stop by during their late afternoon or late evening happy hour time frame. Hillsboro isn't particularly a destination of exceptional dining. You need to head into Portland to eat the really amazing stuff. About $20 ,My order came out and I could say it was more like fish medallions three of them almost the size of McDonald's, chicken, nugget and just a little thinner than that that the fries are a little limp not crispy overall it taste OK was supposed to be a beer batter but they lacked that as well. The fish was fried a little too much kind of dry inside I bit into one and the hard fried batter found the soft spot on my gums and it hurt .other than that. Walking in you are greeted warmly with a server opening the door for you. The place is nicely decored with tall ceilings so it dulls the noises of the rather close tables. The service is friendly and explained the options in details. We came for the happy hour and the prices were excellent. The fish tacos, sliders, and artichoke dips were all very tasty. The steak bites were the star. It looked burned but was tender, juicy, and beefy. The only thing we did not like was the Kung Pao Lettuce wrap. It was super salty - like more salty than straight up soy sauce. I can see where they were going with the flavor but the saltiness was a miss. I've always thought that Copper River Restaurant & Bar seemed vaguely familiar and the menu looked similar to another well-known multi-establishment eatery known as Oswego Grill. I found out I was right when we visited Copper River for lunch this past week. Apparently the group who opened Oswego Grill in 2009 are the same people who opened Copper River in 2015. Both provide "Upscale Elegance at a Casual Price" in a family-friendly environment. If you have a large group get together, I highly recommend making a reservation at Copper River. We had family visiting from out-of-state for the holidays and enjoyed a wonderful lunch that even the kiddlings at the table enjoyed. Great kids menu BTW. Waitstaff are friendly and attentive, even with a larger group. They helped lessen the stress of entertaining during the holiday with awesome service. This last time, we had a quiet lunch with neighbors after the lunch rush. If you go after 2pm on weekdays, the diningroom is much less crowed and the place is serenely quiet. Quiet conversation is actually possible. Our neighbors started with the Salt & Pepper Calamari ($15.99) and we watched them enjoy every single bite. I often dream of their flash-fried Brussels sprouts so I ordered the Grilled Steak Salad ($21.99). I'm not a huge beef eater but it sounded really good that day and I enjoyed my perfectly cooked rare medallions along with grilled romaine hearts, cherry tomatoes, grated Parmesan, and house made lemon Caesar dressing. The flash fried Brussels sprouts were a little disappointing as there were so few of them and they were mostly cold. Don't let that stop you from ordering them though, when they are prepared & served properly, they are delicious and possibly the best thing on the menu. My husband tried the Salmon Harvest Bowl ($18.99): arugula, Brussels sprouts, apples, bing cherries, diced almonds, red pepper, butternut squash, goat cheese, dressed with a whole grain mustard vinaigrette. Came here for a work lunch. I'd say they were at about 33% capacity at lunch time. Took them about 20 mn to ask us what we even wanted to order for our main courses. Everyone's food came out at very different times. They must have had 15 people working there but still seemed very short staffed. Food was just ok. Apps were half way decent. I got the chicken cob salad. It was about like what you'd get at Carl's Jr. Like mod has a salad for less that puts most salads to shame. This was really sad looking. My Co workers burger looked great But he said it was super bland and needed salt or seasoning. I don't think I'd spend my own money here after today so I'm glad my work picked it up. I recently visited Copper River Restaurant & Bar for a birthday celebration, and it was my first time there. The experience was excellent from start to finish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is clean, well-run, and very welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted right away and seated exactly at our reservation time, which set a great tone for the evening. Our server came to the table promptly, introduced herself, and did a great job explaining the menu. What really stood out was the teamwork among the staff. The servers clearly support each other, and everyone we interacted with was equally pleasant and helpful. Even the on-duty manager stopped by to check on us and ask about the quality of our meals, which was a nice touch. The menu is impressively diverse. Our group tried a variety of dishes--salmon, mahi mahi tacos, tenderloin, gourmet burgers, blackened chicken fettucini, and more--and everything was enjoyed. The cocktails were spectacular and also creative and fun to explore. Between the unique menu, excellent service, and overall atmosphere, this restaurant is absolutely worth another visit. Definitely not the greatest experience this week. We eat here often and almost always get take-out, but stopped by with family this week. While service was very friendly, most of the meal was disappointing. We were there celebrating 2 birthdays. It took an hour after ordering for our first meals to arrive...with one salmon and one steak way overcooked and the last meal taking an extra 10 minutes to arrive and no explanation as to why. We returned the steak and did receive its replacement fast, but unfortunately it couldn't make up for the meal overall. Got food poisoning. Contacted the restaurant about it twice and they never attempted to reach out to me with even a simple apology. I ate here a month ago for a holiday celebration with my bf. We are both financially strapped, so this was a big deal for us to go out. He spent about $100 on our tab, 8 hours later I was violently vomiting (and more) it all out of my system. How did I know it was their food? That day I hadn't eaten anything for 7 hours prior to dining there, and this food (the chicken Marsala was the culprit, the only thing my BF didn't eat with me) was the last thing I ate before going to bed that night. So, to sum it up: spent loads of money here, got violently sick, lost a day of work, had to throw away several dollars worth of leftovers, contacted the restaurant about it twice, got no response from them. They don't care. Be warned. They'll take your money one day, make you sick with bad chicken, and pretend they never saw you the next day. It's amazing how far a simple "I am so sorry you had a bad experience with us" could go. I wouldn't be writing this review had they been concerned enough for that. read more

Something extremely consistent with this restaurant and sister Oswego Grill restaurants; when you order a Happy Hour drink and item from the menu, You are almost Always ready for a second drink order.
