If you're planning on eating there, it has very limited seating and the food can get backed up if it a lot of people have ordered. Tried Spring Mill bread for some pastry options. There is an array of different options. I ordered the cheese cake topped with cherry and a rosemary shortbread. The portions are huge. The other side of this the pastries don't really have any taste. I did like the shortbread though bland and the cheesecake didn't have any flavor. I didn't finish it. From the crispy, buttery crust to the pie filling that was loaded with tart, juicy cherries....I was in heaven. I actually ordered it to go, and the cashier politely asked if I wanted it warmed. They had me at orange flavored scones. And not only do they sell baked goods, they also offer sandwiches. Breakfast sandwiches, cold sandwiches and my absolute favorite sandwiches the turkey with the chipotle mayo.the staff is always friendly, and they never rush me when I take forever to make up my mind. It's a small space, but quite cozy and they do have a sitting area. Parking is street side but it is limited as they are next to a few other establishments. This is a small bakery in Takoma park. We got 1. Honey wheat bread (4.5/5) it was little hard for me. 2. Brownie (5/5) it was gooey, crunchy and it was great: 3. Muffin (4.5/5) it was not that sweet and it good. 4. Lemon ginger cake (4.5/5) it was their special, the dough had a different flavor and the icing on top was also very good. This bakery is its centerpiece. Shopping here reinforces virtue, but it doesn't mean you will get great baked goods - or even someone at the counter who can pack a bag or box. My purchases ? Undercooked raisin bread, pretty good carrot cake, a so so potato leek turnover. But the atmosphere is nice, and the soaps from local vendors are good values and nice. Want good coffee? I noticed this little shop on the way to a restaurant down the street and decided to investigate. I eschewed the pastries so my only comment regarding them is that they looked delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive taking time to address my questions regarding ingredients in the various bread options. I ended up buying two loaves which were dense and flavorful. This bakery has some widely varied locations in the greater DC area. This one checks in at a hippie-tastic location across from the Takoma Co-op. It's a nice little shop inside, and the variety of baked goods was fairly impressive. My sampling included a muffin, a cookie, and a fancy-looking pastry they referred to as a pop tart. You guyssss!! This is a Bread Company ~ have you actually tried their fresh baked breads!? Although the desserts look tantalizing - they're left out so I've never actually indulged ‍. However-- The Asiago Pesto bread!?! Is to die for. I dare not put it in a toaster- In my household, it can only be toasted on cast iron or in the oven - and must I say- it is an excitement in my mouth I never want to end!! No butter necessary but it adds even more melty in my mouth sensation! I've tried a few other loaves but that Asiago is just top tier! They only have it on specific days though so make sure you call ahead~ They also have their own white or wheat flour for sale for you true bakers-- so one day I may attempt to make it on my own-- for now I'll spend my coins here!! read more

This might be dangerous. A Spring Mill on my daily commute route. I have been watching the construction of this place for months now. It seemed to take forever, but that day came yesterday. I had to make a pit stop here. It is on the right side of the road on my journey home from work. They use to sell their bread in the Co-op across the street, but they wanted to expand and sell sandwiches to the lunch time crowd. I plan to try the melted mozzarella & pesto. The location is good. There are four meters on Grant Ave right next to the bakery that take a minimum of $0.25 for twenty minutes. After parking here I realized I could have just drove down half a block and parked for free. Oh, well. Their breads are awesome! I will be back for a loaf next week. For now, I'll settle for a chocolate chip cookie for now, and a scone for later. Both for just about $3.50. The breads aren't so cheap, but they are so good, and fresh! They always use all natural ingredients and no preservatives. If you buy a loaf and can't finish it within 3-4 days, freeze half. It is best when not refrigerated. So many daily breads, and breads only offered on certain days (I love the Spinach Feta). This will be my carbilicious downfall. read more
