I haven't been able to visit in a while and Spring Break traffic patterns allowed me to stop in and not be late for work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is always welcoming[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and I haven't had tried the entire menu but what I have had has been solid. Breakfast or lunch, stop by and support a local gem in the community.

The staff here is so kind and they serve one of my favorite mochas in the DMV! The breakfast sandwiches are also delicious and [[HIGHLIGHT]]this is a great spot to work remotely with lots of outdoor seating too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gets busy on the weekend but definitely recommend, it's a wonderful coffee shop![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Solid cafe! Needed to get out of the house so I stopped by for a coffee. The team is friendly, service is quick and the coffee was super flavorful! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music is not super loud and there were a bunch of seating options.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place to read, work on your laptop (seems like that is okay here) and or meet up with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will come back in the warmer months to experience the outside area and the ice cream!

Can't say enough good things about Koma! This cafe is super cozy tucked in a historic neighborhood in Takoma Park that feels straight out of Portland, OR. The staff at this cafe were incredibly friendly and on the ball. The food was pricey, but absolutely delicious. The avocado toast was wonderful, as well as the coffee. Seating inside gets full quickly but there is outdoor seating as well that I took advantage of. Highly recommend this spot to work, unwind, or grab lunch.

Went here twice while visiting Maryland for the 4th of July and it was absolutely delicious! Both times I ordered the egg & cheese croissant with ham, and the second visit I also got an iced vanilla latte with almond milk. The croissant was amazing and the portions definitely fit the price. The coffee was well made and tasted great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is very homey and the workers are all very kind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

This is a strange little stretch being next to a small university and an abandoned (as of this writing) hospital. Nonetheless, the residential area nearby seemed to be keeping it in good business. The place stood out to me for its salad offerings but I didn't have room for more than a snack, so a less healthy but amply delicious monkey bread served my needs. For a beverage, I perused a cardamom rose matcha with genuine ambivalence. Matcha is the author of many great flavor combinations, but I've seen weird matcha beverages fail badly before. In this case, the added flavoring was subtle enough not to overwhelm the tea, but interesting enough to dazzle the palate. A job well done for them. The place was large enough to accommodate several groups inside and out and was nice enough to sit around a while, as many people in the neighborhood were doing. I'd like to try something more substantial from them, but for the basic cafe experience I came for, they hit exactly what I wanted.

Cute spot with great coffee! My friend recommended this spot to meet up around Takoma/Silver Spring. The interior is super cute with green walls, a variety of seating, and quirky decor. I ordered a latte and crossiant- both were excellent. The latte was rich, creamy and smooth. The crossiant was so buttery, light and simply wonderful. Definitely a spot worth going to again!

I got a smoothie and avocado toast and both were delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I saw a mix of people working and others just enjoying a meal together so this place is a great option for both.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Friendly staff and also found free street parking nearby!

Coffee lovers, head to Koma Cafe, the only coffee shop in the area. Driving 30 minutes from SE DC, it was worth the drive. Here's why. 1) Coffee: Brewing Elixr Coffee, their menu has it all- lattes, espresso, cortados, cold brew, drip coffee. My latte was very creamy, strong, and smooth. I very much enjoyed it. Next time, I'll get their pecan latte. Drinks come in small or large sizes and they have other drinks like a chai latte, hot chocolate, and tea. 2) Service: It's friendly and efficient. The barista handled the line with ease and my latte was in my hands under five minutes. 3) Space: It's a very nice place with indoor and outdoor seating. Coffee beans, wine bottles, and other goods decorate the walls for sale. They have strong wifi and outlets throughout. It's an Italian restaurant as well so they serve breakfast and lunch until 4 p.m. and then change to dinner service. 4) Area: It's near many great markets, murals, and there's street parking nearby. If you're into art, wander the streets finding public art and Little Free Library boxes.

This place blew me away! The food was incredibly fresh, made to order, and tasted amazing. I was curious as to why there weren't many reviews yet so I'm assuming it's new. Our food was hand delivered to us and the waitstaff was incredibly excited and friendly. It was quite busy for a Saturday morning! There's a smaller seating area available but we were able to snag a table. I was impressed by the selection and how tasty everything is. Still wondering what cheese they used in the egg and cheese croissant... it was phenomenal. The coffee was great. A nice bold flavor, maybe a little smokiness to it. Oat milk and almond milk are an additional 0.75 cents, while flavor shots are 0.50 cents. Two drinks and the two meals came to $35. I thought it was a great price for the quality, service and taste.

    Tomato Burrata Toast

The cardamom rose latte paired exquisitely with the sweet and savory sourdough toast with tomato jam, burrata cheese, berries, basil, and raspberry balsamic vinaigrette.

I was told this charge does not go to the waiter but is instead shared with other staff (busser, host, etc.), and that customers are expected to leave an additional tip for the server. I initially left a 20% tip because I did not notice the automatic 18% service charge. To make matters worse, I was initially given the wrong receipt, which added to the confusion. When I realized the service charge had already been included and asked for the extra tip to be removed, the waiter told me he does not receive any portion of the 18% charge. I asked whether the expectation was for customers to leave a total of 38%, and I was told that is how it works at this restaurant and in Washington DC. I found the billing and tipping process confusing and misleading. I won't be back.

Dining areas are in several room spaces, instead of 1 big cavernous hall. There is a bar room as well as a tavern in the basement. Outdoor lawn has plenty of tables and lush greenery, perfect for a good weather day picnic. Our group was in a bigger room and a few steps downstairs from the bar area. Waitstaff was professional and helpful. We first ordered drinks, then starters. We ordered entrées after drinks and starters arrived for good pacing. Several of us shared a Skyfall Cabernet Sauvignon. It was smooth and fruity. We shared pimento cheese dip with veggies and bread triangles, bread basket, burrata and spiced cauliflower. All were excellent, Star was the burrata, so creamy and had pesto with it. My entree was a prosciutto sandwich with fig spread. The sandwich was on ciabatta bread. It held the sweet fig spread, savory prosciutto and soft Brie . Very filling and yummy, and came with crisp fries. Everyone loved their food. Some had dessert and coffee afterwards which was also top notch.

Dear Restaurant Owner,…read more My husband and I had been looking forward to dining at your restaurant for quite some time and finally had the opportunity to visit on Tuesday, June 2, before attending a concert nearby at 8:00 PM. We arrived at approximately 6:45 PM, were seated promptly, and were greeted by our server, Anna. She was pleasant; however, the service we received throughout the evening was extremely disappointing. We ordered drinks to start. My husband ordered a beer, and I ordered a rosé prosecco. When my drink arrived, it was visibly flat. I tasted it anyway and found it to be both warm and lacking carbonation. When I brought this to Anna's attention, she responded, "I noticed it looked flat too; I'll get you another one." Frankly, this was concerning. If she noticed the drink was not of acceptable quality, it should never have been served to a customer in the first place. We then ordered the mussels appetizer, which was excellent and one of the highlights of our visit. Shortly afterward, I ordered the swordfish special, and my husband ordered the shrimp po' boy. Neither dish would typically require an unusually long preparation time. Unfortunately, what followed was nearly an hour of waiting with no communication. Anna never checked on the status of our meals, nor did she provide any updates. Meanwhile, we watched multiple tables who were seated after us receive their food and complete their meals. By 7:45 PM, with our concert approaching, my husband suggested that we ask for our meals to be packed to go. It quickly became apparent that our entrees had not even been prepared. When Anna finally returned, she told us it would be "another five minutes," indicating that our meals had not yet been cooked despite being ordered nearly an hour earlier. At that point, we had no choice but to take the food to go so that we would not miss our concert. As a result, we ended up eating cold food later that evening. What made the experience particularly disappointing was that we had genuinely been excited to visit your restaurant. We had heard good things and were looking forward to a memorable dinner before our evening out. Instead, we left feeling overlooked and wondering what we had done to warrant such poor service and lack of attention. To my surprise, my husband--who is incredibly kind and non-confrontational--still left Anna a 20% tip, despite the fact that the service did not merit it. I am writing not to seek anything in return, but simply to make you aware of our experience. The quality of the mussels showed us that your kitchen is capable of producing excellent food. Unfortunately, the service and lack of communication overshadowed what should have been a wonderful evening. Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback. I hope it helps prevent future guests from having a similar experience. t

I think if the music was turned down, menu expanded, and separate restrooms for genders, then the place would be a more memorable experience. The server was a nice young man, but he would piece things like me having to verbally ask him for utensils, straws, napkins, and other items that we needed, instead of him providing the basic essentials up front, taking the initiative to ask us in advance or even suggest that since he brought napkins how about straws etc., having more hustle and a proactive approach goes a long ways. The door man and the server were nonchalant here, for a place blasting Nelly at 100 plus decibels, we do want the staff to have a little energy. The music upstairs and downstairs are also different, and you can hear the music thumping at the garage about to leave. I think this place is at the top of the noise ordinance downtown Silver Spring. We struggled to find menu items (There was some item online I think burger that was not on the current menu, so the updates need to be reflected online.) We enjoyed our grilled chicken sandwiches with avocado, lettuce, tomatoes etc. but there needs to be more of a hybrid approach here if the owner wants to maximize business potential. The club and lounge era is dying especially with Millennials and Gen Z globally. There should be the quieter restaurant vibe that might have live events like comedy shows (Hire local Huggy Lowdown to work down here) or music performances etc. (Hello Marcus Johnson another local) I think having live events here occasionally will provide the energy better than blasting music that will crack you and your dog's eardrums with your dog sitting outside of the establishment as I don't think Fido needs to be sitting at the table eating and drinking with me like some folks think. Del the Funky Homosapien "It's important to practice good hygiene, at least if you wanna run with my team!" All in all, let's not have it too clubby, let's scrap the shared restrooms, let's have more professional, welcoming, inviting service, and this is a rough gem in the making if major structural changes and updates are made and they step their game up, they have the foundation and bones but need to carve it out a bit more and polish the rock!
