Seriously every time we come here it's so peaceful so pretty this time there were some brown cows around and some wild donkeys. I love the trail. It's super cool. The downside about having a Doxy is when they see that donkey they wanna roll in it so they can mask their smell and sneak up on them. We truly do always have a nice walk though and beautiful views it's refreshing.
My friend invited me to go see a musical on a sat night , I had no idea this place was even here . It was absolutely beautiful , the concert area is a big scenic park with concession stands and food trucks every summer . We watched legally blonde, we had a blast the actors were amazing . Overall it was a fun idea for a girls night or dare night.
Im so glad someone told me about this park. It's absolutely beautiful. I wasn't prepared for hikes so im definitely coming back asap. I was in flip flops which isnt too hike friendly. BUT i did do one, i just had to take it easy and watch my steps. It has many smaller easier trails to hike, places to picnic, educational stops and lizards galore. There's absolutely no trash anywhere, no one around to bother you, its just peaceful. 100000 star review
Terrible experience with Ranger D. Low. Last Saturday, we briefly pulled over before entering the park to take some photos of the mountains-there were absolutely NO "No Stopping" or "No Parking" signs on our side of the road. Still, the ranger gave us a parking ticket. We even went back to record video proof that no signs were posted-and that clearly made him angry. After that, we stopped at the entrance to renew our annual pass. He followed us, asked the gate worker what we were doing, confirmed it was for the annual pass, allowed it to happen... then stopped us again afterward and gave us a 6-month trespassing ticket! This felt like a total abuse of power. Parking and trespassing citations should be reserved for clear violations, criminal behavior, or illegal activity-not for people peacefully enjoying nature. If anyone else has experienced something similar, I strongly encourage you to report Ranger D. Low: stparks@parks.nv.gov, crobinson@parks.nv.gov, jbrunjes@parks.nv.gov Let's speak up-this kind of treatment is unacceptable.
I entered the park with a friend this morning to enjoy the park and take photos of our kids while we sat in the field. We brought some pumpkins and picnic blankets and our iphones. David Low comes up tells us "we're not in trouble and this day is a pass" but he needs our IDs. He is someone who abuses his taxpayer funded employment. Little did I know upon entering the park he will ask for your personal ID write it down and try to look you up on your personal social media accounts! He says he keeps excel spreadsheets of all these IDs and accounts on his computer! He says he will look you up in the future again to "check on you" if there's a photo of the park posted to give you a citation! He preys upon innocent unknowing people and stay at home moms who are just there with their kids to have fun and enjoy the "family friendly" park. He was rather unsettling and somewhat threatening even when we told him we don't have any camera equipment and are not here for advertising or selling photos. We feel judged by appearance and violated when he looked up our social media accounts bc he took our IDs and information! No where upon entering the park were we told this might happen to us in the parking lot! David low should be removed immediately. He's a terrible representative of this park because of his actions and abuse to the public.
Brought my husband and dog this morning for a break from the desert. Beautiful grassy areas with an incredible view. Perfect for family picnics or romantic picnic dates. I'd like to try watching a movie here (refer to website for details). They also hold Yoga events on the pasture, which looks awesome! The "museum" is very small walk through of the ranch house. Interesting nonetheless, with a cute gift shop. $5 bracelets, and I spent only $3.75 on a drink and snacks. PROS: -Grass lol -Great photo ops -Some small trails for light walking -Cows and horses -Huge area for kids and doggos to enjoy/play -Events CONS: -$15 for non-residents (to include military, its based on license plates). Military = $1 discount, so $14. -$10 for residents still feels a little steep for what it is. -Besides eat and chilling here, you aren't doing much else. If I come back, it will be for one of their events. Beautiful spot to hangout, but maybe not for $14.
Love this Place For hiking/walking trails Spring Mountain Ranch is a great choice and is close by to the west side of Vegas - Large complex surrounded by the beautiful Spring Mountains The hiking/walking trials are fairly easy about 1-1/2 mile round hike. Being there this year in early April was walking through a beautiful desert painting - new growth popping - water running in the creek. Pretty cool place to take some time for yourself, get outside with a moderate exercise and check out the beautiful Red Rock infused Spring Mountains Note: There is a Ranch House (once lived in by Howard Hughes) - it's set up as a museum along with a gift store -(they have cold drinks & snacks in the gift store) For me, it's a great place to drive out to - (nice ride passing Red Rock National Park) It's probably very hot during late spring through summer - I would suggest checking the weather & bring plenty of water Cheers
Absolutely beautiful! Honestly I love spring mountain more than red rock. I said what I said. In the summer they have programs for the kids as well as musicals. I got to go to Chicago the musical a few years ago. They have now finished the restoration of the lake for the pool fish. There's tons of interpretative signs as well as a historic home you can tour. It's 10$ for Nevada residents and 15$ for out of state. My only wish is that they had more trails and they they were longer.
The ranch itself was owned by Howard Hughes but he never stayed there because his wife would never want to go. The ranch has beautiful views of the mountains and is well above the flood levels normally seen the area. Wild donkeys and horses are possble, as well as the protected desert tortoise, but none were seen during my visit. Since this is not a National Park, My wife's senior citizen lifelong National Parks Pass did not work, so we paid the $15 at the entrance. if you have kids, this would be a fun afternoon for the family.
Decided to head to spring Mountain ranch State Park on a Tuesday afternoon. Packed a picnic lunch, loaded up the dogs. What a great find. Loved the big grassy pastures/picnic area. The dogs loved it to. I spoke with one of the rangers and they said it stays green all year around because they water it. The park is just a little bit past the Red Rock Canyon loop drive. Not hard to find at all. We got there around noon. Not crowded but a few people with their fur babies (dogs allowed but must be kept on a 6' leash). Lots of concrete picnic tables that were clean . This park used to be a cattle ranch. The visitor center/ gift shop tells the history of the ranch. Gift shop is nothing to write home about but if you need a Coke or a bottle of water, head on up there. There are multiple trails, all under 2.0 miles. Some are as short as .3 miles. We went to the Overlook loop Trail and then wandered down to Lake Harriet which you cannot access( surrounded by fence). It was just so very pleasant, birds singing, blue skies, 72 degrees. Couldn't ask for a better or more relaxed afternoon.
Beautiful park with a nice expansive picnic area, a few short trails, and a ranch house you can see. $10 for a Nevada local (car) to get into. The reason for the 4 stars is this place is not what it used to be almost 10 years ago....a long time ago you could walk right next to all the water areas here; now, you cannot do that. Still beautiful. Hikes: there are 3 trails. All are short (under 2 miles) and are easy; great for families. I recommend the Ash Grove loop to see the plants and get closer to the creek. The lake Harriet trail is a must as well so you can get closer to the water and take in the beauty that surrounds you. The overlook trail is short yet gives you the best views in the park. I recommend exploring all trails here and then wrapping up your day here with a picnic. Place is dog friendly and my little dog loves the trails here.
Came here on Veterans Day 2024 Beautiful weather and Fmaily time. They provide trash bins and bathrooms. No playground for kids. Opened grass to play. Bring your own set up incase there is no tables left. No BBQs provided. There is a 2 space Electric Car charging port with Handicap parking. Entrance fee is $10.

What a major disappointment. I was here 8 years ago and it was a lovely experience. You could pet the cow and walk to the pond. It's a joke now. There's a cone in every other parking space so the cars will be "socially distanced." The dumbest thing I've ever seen. You can't walk up to the pond and look at it anymore because they've put up a double layered fence, so you can barely see the pond. You have masked park rangers walking around watching your every move, making you feel like you're being stalked. It felt we visited a state penitentiary instead of a State park. I'll never go back. read more

If you didn't buy tix to Red Rock, THIS is the place to visit! A beautiful oasis in the desert. Historical and walker friendly. Then head down to Blue Diamond, and eat at Cottonwood Station! Both are totally worth the short off the beaten path sights! Guaranteed! read more

This place is worth checking out for sure and I really enjoyed it but if you want hard-core hiking (I wasn't looking for that) do the Red Rocks instead. This place has several trails that go along a lake, through the desert to a canyon, a scenic overlook, through a creek, and by a family cemetery. I enjoyed the trails a lot and they're not more than 2-3 miles each so they're really manageable for almost anyone in decent shape. Enough nature, this is Vegas so there's always something crazy. Be sure and take the tour of the ranch house, it's really interesting to learn some of the unique characters including a German movie star and Howard Huges who have owned the ranch. This is easily worth the $9 and for a full day of adventure combine this with the Red Rocks next door. Bring cash since you have to pay with cash if you get there before the gate is staffed. read more

Organized a last minute wedding here. Disappointed is an understatement. The "venue" hardly has a decent view of the mountains. There is a building blocking the mountains from where one would hold a wedding in the grass. The park rangers are on a power trip and are hardly helpful. They were rude and issued a wedding guest a citation for going the wrong way because she was lost. They drove right through the ceremony, and stayed to watch the entire time. We ended up holding the wedding in the parking lot because we were not able to go anywhere else but the grass or parking lot for the wedding. read more
(Ok so this review is strictly for the theatre at this state park.) I recently went to the play, Chicago at Spring Mountain Ranch this was my first time in 15 years ever being at the park and the venue. My friends and I had purchased tickets very reasonably online. Parking was free!!! So far these two things made for a Vegas "win win"! Upon arrival we met up with some other friends who had reserved "chairs" for us on blankets in the grass area before the stage. It was a beautiful evening and everyone in attendance had food and outside drinks including alcohol. Third "win"!! Onsite they have a concession stand with VERY reasonable food and drink prices, in addition a couple of food trucks. Fourth "win"! Once we had settled in, eaten, has a few drinks; it was show time. Fifth and final "win"!! This place was great all around. A diamond in the rough. It is a place where you can go unplug for a few hours, watch some incredibly talented people performing and enjoy food with friends. Highly recommended reasonable, family friendly outing! read more
Thank you Yelp LV! I saw a post on Instagram with a beautiful scenic lake. I wasn't sure if this was a real or not. But this place is real. This state park is about 30 away from main strip of Las Vegas. The entrance fee is $9 per vehicle. It's a nice scenic get away from the city to see some cows, donkey, and ducks in the man made lake. There's a nice ranch with many history with real fireplace. You can browse the house and read some history about this place. You can have a BBQ or picnic here as well. They have grills so you just need to bring your food and charcoal. It's a pretty place for wedding photo as well. If you have little ones bring them here to run around. read more
Time to enjoy this weather before the Vegas heat rivals the surface of the sun. Just past Cactus Joe's Cacti Farm and beyond the Bonnie Springs Ranch is Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. This park has a little bit of everything, multiple hiking trails with varying degrees of difficulty, cows, a field to run around in, old timey houses to tour, and a gift shop of some sorts. You have pay to when you arrive, but they do offer local plate discounts, with the entry being seven-dollars, normally it's ten per car. I really enjoyed my time here; there are great trails that wind all through the red rock mountains with plenty of spots to hangout and enjoy the day. The bummer here, is they close the park at 4:30pm, so it you're going to visit get here early to elevate the pressure of a park ranger slowly driving behind you as walk back down the trail. This exact situation happened to me, it was a little weird. Like said at the beginning, get outside now before the Vegas valley just turns into one giant oven! read more

Loved exploring this area and snapping tons of photos along the way. This was definitely an easy terrain and something the whole family could do. Bring a friend, pack a lunch, and go exploring. It was only 45 minutes from my house and definitely a place where you could spend the whole day adventuring. read more

This was just the stop I needed. $9.00 to get the whole family in. The crowds were non-existent. The trails offered some easy hikes and the breeze coming down from the mountains was refreshing. Up at the Ranch House, Lee (one of the volunteers) gave us a great tour with tons of Vegas tidbits. The grounds are very well kept and very clean. If you happen to be near Blue Diamond, swing on in and check things out. There are places to grill and enjoy a picnic lunch. Wear comfy shoes and bring your water for a hike. read more

Super simple day hike when you want something easy and quick to stretch your legs. Located in the picturesque Spring Mountain Ranch Park, this is a nice setting for a family picnic, photoshoot or like I said, easy hike. Once owned by a ranching family, the property has a beautiful house, barn, old building structure, a couple hot springs ponds, short hiking trails, large grassy area for picnics and parties, and it's supposedly 10-15 degrees cooler out there than in Vegas. We did the 1 mike loop trail one Sunday, it was quite easy and just sort of loops up around the hill and comes back down. Very easy, but we just wanted something to get us out for an hour or so. read more

I love it here. I wish I could rent the historic landmark house that sits atop the hill of this lovely park (which used to belong to a Hollywood starlet heiress and briefly housed the Hope Diamond). I feel I could dream away the days and while away the nights watching the stars, and listening to a blade of grass, and writing in my journal. I do not have an affinity for nature. I have an affinity for shopping malls. But here, Spring Mountain Ranch, for some reason, calls to me. I feel more myself, and I want to be a better person standing out in this dry open space under a blue cloudless sky. It's a little taste of Montana in Las Vegas, and not all that far from the madness of the Las Vegas Strip (if you're visiting). It is state-owned, so it was the only park in striking distance that was OPEN during the Government shutdown. (Red Rock, its more popular cousin, being a National park and federally-funded, was closed). You pay $10 per car to get in. If you come in the mornings, and especially on a weekday, you can have your pick of the picnic tables (and accompanying barbecue stands), under fragrant trees. You can see the mountains and the old house. Take a tour of the old house. You will find that despite its diminutive size, it packs a punch in terms of interesting stories and tidbits, as well as interesting contemporary artifacts. In the summer, this place comes alive with the "Super Summer Theater." Yes, under the stars (bring your own blanket or portable chair), you can see Broadway-style musicals and plays. This year they are doing "Annie" and "Into the Woods," among a few others. Ticket prices are not that bad, around $15 each. You could come and spend the day, bringing your Bocce ball set, and picnic basket, let yourself (and/or your kids) run wild, go on a tour of the historic house, and then watch the show under the stars before heading home. A fine summer adventure. read more

A lovely spot to have a picnic and wander outside the city. The trails are short nature hikes and great for small children. We saw the cows, a few rabbits, roadrunners. It's 5-10 degrees cooler here and there's shade. A great place for families or just to escape the heat. I had expected a locals discount for entry fees but the rather rude gate attendant said no and charged us the full $10. read more
You gotta check out all the activities they offer! I love coming here. It's beautiful. There's even a cow or two... There is a ranger-guided night hike as well as yoga and painting classes. I also seen that they offer a civil war reenactment. Oh and who could forget? Super summer theater is also hosted here! There's just so many things! As a local, I'd total recommend other locals to come here. I don't know if it's just me but it feels so much cooler in temperature here. It's a good 20 minute drive either way to Blue Diamond or Summerlin and I find that drive back to the city is quite relaxing! TLDR: Come here if you haven't already and check out what they have to offer! read more

Off the bat, it is 10 dollars per vehicle. But listen here my guy, that Hamilton you drop is worth it as hell. It's dog friendly so round up your furry homies, stack some sandwiches, and tap the keg hombre, cause the kick back is real. This place has trails, a creek, cows, and There's a dope haunted ass house that Howard Hughes owned at some point and it's got what!? A freaking scoody Doo style secret passageway that's what. And also a gift shop my best friend has the Betes so since they didn't have diet drinks it was kinda a bummer. But over all this spot was picante. Straight fire. Would be a great summer spot, birthdays, 4th of July, veterans day, all that goodness. Bar or bat mitzvah? Boom. Here. Anniversary? Boom here. Just got out of prison and ain't seen action in years, well, like regular action....well don't do that here, but after come on down pimp. read more
Beauty ~ Nature ~ History This beautiful park is located just outside of Red Rock and worth the $7 admission fee ($10 for non Vegas locals). It's always 10-15 degrees cooler here then it is in Vegas so keep that in mind. Established in 1876 there's a lot of rich history here and the home that is still in the park has had some interesting characters as owners. Stop in and read the cool stories and take a few minutes to take the house tour. There's a very cool hidden passage from one room to another and lots of antiques. You can also find a large park here, picnic tables, gift shop, multiple trails to hike, a lake, a creek, family cemetery, historical sandstone cabins and amazing views in all directions. Walk up to the overlook trail to see the 520 acre oasis to appreciate its beauty. I can only imagine how amazing it must have been to live here and call this place your home back in the day before it became a state park. Glad to see places like this preserved! read more

You really can't knock how exquisitely beautiful and peaceful this place is, so I want to only discuss my reason for the negative experience (which won't apply to most people). TL:DR Our wedding here almost didn't happen! A gorgeous place for a day trip, but event-plan at your own risk! We booked this place for my small (35ish guests) October wedding. The on-site manager told us the place books up quickly, so we ended up confirming in late January. It's just an outdoor picnic / covered ramada area, but with those incredible views and our DIY goals, we were freaking thrilled to spend a mere 100 DOLLARS to reserve our spot. Who gets a wedding venue for ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS? Even reserving space at a playground park is more than that. The downside here is beyond this, the manager was pretty disorganized and unhelpful. It took several back and forth emails and calls to get a copy of the reservation paperwork in the mail, which isn't a super-good sign to me. I understand this person is in no way a wedding planner, but according to her (and the state park site), dozens of events are hosted there every year ranging from company outings to boy scout events. We had very basic questions that she couldn't (wouldn't?) answer, like, "Are there outlets?", so that was somewhat frustrating. However, the big kicker was the actual day-of. My MOH arrived at the park early to set up only to find THE ENTIRE PARK LOCKED AND CLOSED. In a panic, she drove around the park and called the manager repeatedly trying to find assistance. By sheer divine providence, a guy was hiking through who USED to work there and remembered the gate code from years back and was able to open it up to let her in. Unfortunately, with that delay, and the fact that all of the trash cans and recycling in our reserved area were OVERFLOWING, our wedding got off to a late start, but we were still able to make it work. I guess I want to emphasize that without that random gentleman, we literally would not have been able to have our wedding. We never did hear back from the manager as to why none of the staff were present that day and why we didn't get ANY contact from her giving us a heads-up. If you're planning to host an event here, I would say make sure you're flexible, and do so at your own risk. However, if you're coming for a day trip or picnic or hike, the views and photographs cannot be beat. read more
Of all the state parks in Las Vegas this is THEE one. It has it all. RedRock picturesque mountain backdrop. large fields of grass in front of the ranch. A magnificently wellkept ranch house that belonged to classic actress Vera Krupp who just treasured this property in her time. This is the classic American dream home. With a barn stable(garage of its time) connected to it and a hidden room. Very rustic and sophisticated. Howard Hughes owned the property at one time. It is unsure whether he actually lived there during his ownership. Go towards the back of the property and you will find an old farmhouse that is the epitome of old western. It sits atop a grass hill and looks to be in perfect shape. Further on is an old blacksmith shop. You could still almost hear the clanging of metal as the horseshoes were being readied for the cowboys about to embark in the wild west. You could still feel the history that is preserved in this ranch. At the very end of the ranch over the last hill is the cherry on top. A natural spring fed lake has been properly modernized and is the view of all views in RedRock Canyon. I'll say that it may be a bit of a trip on foot to reach it for some. Once you get there you will be rewarded. The one thing about this lake is it being used as a refuge to preserve one of the most rare fish in the planet. The Devilshole pupfish population fluctuates between 42 to 200 specimens yearly. It was the reason we visited the park the first time and I am glad to report that we actually spotted a few! The fee to enter this park is more than fair for all that you can experience here. Beautiful sights wonderful history and chances to see something that may never be seen by generations not too far off. read more
Came here for a romantic picnic with my boo, my boo this past Sunday~ ...thanks to the suggestions of some helpful Yelpers. Who knew there was such a pretty/relaxing place so close to home??? We stopped by Fresh & Easy and packed a picnic basket complete with some wine and champagne and headed up Blue Diamond and made a right on JCT 159... It is the left right after Bonnie Springs. We paid $7 at the pay station and got a map from the ranger there. We followed the road to the public parking area and parked close to the picnic area.. There was some sort of Civil War reenactment going on so there were a bunch of white tents, Confederate flags and people dressed in costume.. felt like we were in "Gone with the Wind.." LOL We picked a spot by a tree and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon.. the weather was perfect and we didn't even notice the war going on hahahh There are BBQ grills, restrooms, hiking trails and lots of green green grass! Before we left we wanted to check out Lake Harriet which is just a short walk up the trail.. It's not a picnic area so don't plan to eat by the lake ;ppp All the rangers were friendly and I can't wait to go back ;]]] HOT TIP: If you're going to bring your dog please pick up after them.. We kept almost stepping on dog poop. No bueno. There was no soap in the restroom so bring hand sanitizer!!! Also, if you're coming up Blue Diamond and realize you forgot something.. no worries! There is a gas station on the left of the road before you make the right onto JCT 159. read more

Who says Disneyland's the only place where dreams come true? Spring Mountain Ranch is a vast greenland of tranquility, just the perfect get-away from the city. Cool temperatures, a lot of grassland, a ranch house with rich history, a peaceful lake surrounded with dragonflies as well as duckies and a cute but lonely cow, called Penelope, who would love a 'hi' from you if you ever plan to come visit. For a $7 local entrance fee per vehicle (that'd be $9 for out-of-state), we got to the ranch at around noon and picked a nice little shaded spot under a cottonwood tree to hang out for the day. For awhile, we waited for the winds to pick up to fly our kite, attempted to raise it up around 1pm but the winds weren't strong enough to keep the kite suspended for long. With that, we decided instead to explore the ranch house where we learnt a great deal about its fascinating history and architecture. Just as we were ready to head back out, it began to pour and the winds were ferociously swooping in from every direction (It disabled my kite for awhile. it's shaped like a dragonfly and one of the wings came off. We had to tape it back in.) No biggie, it was a great opportunity to walk in the rain and that's exactly what we did! There were dragonflies buzzing around Lake Harriet and a large eagle arrogantly perched on top of a tree. Hiking trails surrounded the ranch. We'll probably take some time to try them out one day, probably around fall when humidity levels and temperatures are even lower. Was an awesome way to catch-up with nature, take in all the greenery and of course, spend a whole day with family! read more
We love nature and adventure , we always come this way but never had been successful at finding this lake . For some reason never checked into yelp to see where it was , long story short we found it today and it was such beautiful day to start the month and to explore . We found out it was just before SBRANCH . It felt like finding gold . The lake is just beautiful aqua color and the mountains as background makes it totally amazing . They have a picnic area where you can BBQ and if you want to camp out then make reservations . We didn't went all the way back where the cemetery is but for sure we will go back. It's incredible all the cool places Vegas has . Before I thought it was just desert and I was wrong. Explore Vegas , venture ! It's great for kids too . read more

Do I need a permit to take my graduation photos here?
Yes, but don't even bother. The rangers there don't like photographers and are extremely rude. It's best to go to Floyd Lamb or literally any other park. This place was a huge disappointment.
Is it free to get in?
No. It's not free. There's nothing great to see there. Go to Red Rock Canyon right up the road it's much more beautiful

Not for personal use. That's for professional photography such as weddings. If you were personally shooting a wedding, that could be a problem.

Yes, we will be open from 8 AM until 4:30 PM. The trails all close at 3:30 PM and the visitor center will close at 4 PM.

Yes, we allow dogs but per state law they must remain on a leash and under control at all times and you are responsible for cleaning up after them.
